ÖZ:Bilim dünyasında toplumsal cinsiyet eşitliğini sağlamak üzere hayata geçirilen politikalara rağmen pek çok ülkede kadınlar bilimin çeşitli alanlarında yetersiz temsil edilmektedir. Kadınların bu dezavantajlı durumlarının gerisinde karmaşık toplumsal, kültürel, ekonomik ve yapısal bir dizi etken bulunmakla birlikte medya bu etkenler arasında öncelikli bir yere sahiptir. Zira medya, özellikle de gerçek hayattaki rol modellerinin yokluğunda, bilime ve bilim insanlarına dair tutum ve inançların şekillenmesinde rol oynayan temel bilgi kaynaklarından biridir. Bu bağlamda medya, kadınların ve kız çocuklarının bilime yönelmelerini teşvik edebileceği gibi onları bilimsel uğraşının dışında tutmaya ya da katılımlarını sınırlandırmaya da yol açabilir. Medyanın sahip olduğu bu potansiyelden hareketle, bu çalışmada Türkiye’de bilim haberlerinde bilim kadınlarının nasıl temsil edildiği incelenmektedir. Kadınların bilim dünyasına katılım oranlarının dünyanın pek çok ülkesine kıyasla yüksek olduğu Türkiye’de yazılı basında bilim kadınlarının görünürlük düzeyleri ile görünür oldukları alanları tespit etmek bu çalışmanın temel amacıdır. Bu kapsamda çalışmanın temel sorunsalı, farklı politik yönelimlere sahip BirGün, Hürriyet ve Yeni Şafak gazetelerinde yayımlanan bilim haberlerinin bilim dünyasındaki toplumsal cinsiyete dayalı eşitsizlikleri koruyup güçlendirmek mi, yoksa bu eşitsizliklere meydan okumak yönünde mi hareket ettiğinin belirlenmesidir. Çalışmada sözü edilen gazetelerin web sitelerinde 2019 yılının Ocak, Mayıs ve Eylül aylarında yayımlanan toplam 527 bilim haberi içerik analizi yoluyla incelenmiştir. Çalışmada gazetelerde yer alan bilim kadını oranının Türkiye’deki bilim kadını oranının oldukça altında olduğu; görünürlük düzeyleri ve bilimin farklı alanlarına katılımları konusunda farklı siyasal yönelimlere sahip gazeteler arasında küçük farklılıklar bulunmakla birlikte tümünün bilim kadınlarını yetersiz temsil ettiği sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. While there is a complex set of social, cultural, economic and structural factors behind women's disadvantage, the media has a prominent place among these factors. This is because the media are one of the main sources of information that play a role in shaping attitudes and beliefs about science and scientists, especially in the absence of real-life role models. In this context, the media can encourage women and girls to turn to science, but it can also exclude them from scientific endeavors or limit their participation. Based on this potential of the media, this study analyses how women scientists are represented in science news in Turkey. The main purpose of this study is to determine the level of visibility of women scientists in the print media in Turkey, where women's participation in the world of science is high compared to many countries in the world. In this context, the problematic of the study is to determine whether the science news published in the newspapers BirGün, Hürriyet, and Yeni Şafak, which have different political orientations, serve to protect and reinforce gender inequalities in the world of science or to challenge these inequalities. In the study, a total of 527 science news items published on the websites of the aforementioned newspapers in January, May, and September 2019 were examined through content analysis. The study concluded that the proportion of women scientists in the newspapers is well below the proportion of women scientists in Turkey; although there are small differences between newspapers with different political orientations regarding their level of visibility and participation in different fields of science, they all underrepresent women scientists.

In this study, it was aimed to reveal the father profiles in rap songs about fathers and to understand the father image in rap subculture. Qualitative research method was used depending on the purpose of the research. Rap lyrics were analyzed by content analysis, which is one of the qualitative research analyzes. In this context, 52 father-themed Turkish rap songs on Youtube between 2011-2021 were analyzed. Maxqda Qualitative Data Analysis Program was used during the analysis process. As a result of the data obtained, seven themes were reached in the songs: "Negative Experiences Related to Childhood", "Represented Father Profiles", "Fathers' Attitudes Towards Their Sons", "Emotions Related to the Father", "Situations Related to Addictive Substance Use", "Psychological States of the Singers", "Reasons for Writing the Songs". As a result of the research, it was determined that the story of fatherlessness was intensely covered in the songs, unhealthy relationships with the father were expressed, addictive substances were mentioned, the father figure was represented with negative attitudes and behaviors, and the songs had the characteristics of letters written to fathers. As a result, it is possible to state that the image of the father in rap subculture has negative patterns in line with the songs analyzed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

İki ülke arasında başlayan savaş ya da bir ülkenin kendi içindeki çatışmalar, kitlesel göç hareketlerine neden olabilmekte ve bu olaylar değişik ülke basınlarında geniş yer bulabilmektedir. Bu minvalde 2011 yılında başlayan iç çatışmalar sonrası Suriye’de, 2022 yılında da Rusya ile savaşa girmesinden sonra Ukrayna’da yaşanan göçlerin Türk ulusal basınında ne oranda yer aldıkları ayrıca göç etmek zorunda kalan Suriyelilerin ve Ukraynalıların haber metinlerinde nasıl temsil edildikleri bu çalışmanın konusunu oluşturmaktadır. Bu kapsamda amaçlı örneklem yöntemiyle seçilen Yeni Akit, Milliyet ve Sözcü gazetelerinin birinci sayfalarındaki Suriyeli ve Ukraynalı sığınmacılar ile ilgili haberler ve bu haberlerin iç sayfalardaki devam haberleri, van Dijk’ın haber metinleri için geliştirmiş olduğu eleştirel söylem analizi çerçevesinde analiz edilmiştir. Araştırma kapsamında örneklem incelendiğinde dokuz haberin Suriye’de yaşanan göç olayı ile ilgili, on yedi haberin de Ukrayna’daki göçler ile ilgili olduğu belirlenmiştir. Yapılan analizler neticesinde hem Suriyeli hem de Ukraynalı sığınmacıların ülkelerinden ayrılmak zorunda kalan mağdurlar olarak temsil edilip olumlandıkları ayrıca özellikle kadın ve çocuk görselleri kullanılarak göçün dramatize edildiği görülmüştür. Yaşanan göçlerden de Suriye Devlet Başkanı Beşar Esad’ın ve Rusya Devlet Başkanı Putin’in sorumlu tutularak olumsuzlandıkları anlaşılmıştır.

This research aims to describe the Syrian refugee representations of the participants who identify themselves as Turk (advantaged group) or Kurd (disadvantaged group) in the context of social identity and realistic conflict and to examine the relationship of these representations with the participants' ingroup identifications. We conducted a semi-structured interview with 34 participants (16 women, Mage = 39.6) and measured participants' ingroup identifications. The representations of the participants about Syrian refugees were grouped under seven negative themes as follows); the economic burden and financial threat Syrian, cultural pollutant Syrian, societal destructive Syrian, immigrant Syrian, Syrian who fled from own homeland, beggar and homeless Syrian, Syrian with many children. Consistency among judges for all themes was found to be above the acceptable threshold. Greater ingroup identification is associated with having more financial threat Syrian representation. However, ingroup identification did not predict the power of financial threat Syrian representation. Syrian refugees are represented more as a financial threat than as a cultural pollutant. No difference was observed between Turks and Kurds in terms of the having representation of Syrian refugees as a financial or cultural threat. We discussed the findings in the context of social identity, intergroup competition, realistic and symbolic threat, and how these negative representations about Syrian refugees could be transformed to prevent possible social problems. Television series, which have been increasing in Türkiye since the 2000s, now constitute the prime-time broadcast generation of many national channels. The series feature different social, cultural and socio-economic representations. One of these representations is poverty. This study will research how poverty is represented in television series. As emphasized in the Cultivation Theory, television has an impact on the audience in the long term. In this context, representations of poverty can be problematic for both the audience and the group represented. Especially when ethnic minorities are taken into consideration, representations of poverty within the framework of Cultivation Theory can increase prejudice against these groups and reinforce their socio-economic status. In this context, representations of poverty in television series will be analyzed through the Romani ethnicity. A qualitative content analysis of five Turkish television series with Romani characters was conducted in the categories of story, characters, location, education, and businesslife. The study concluded that poverty is identified with Romani, and Romani characters are represented as poor in all television series. Within the framework of Cultivation Theory, these representations can create more inequality in society and further disempower minority groups. While there are many stories about poverty within the narrative structure of fiction, the repetition of these stories through a particular ethnic group can lead to the formation of stereotypes and prejudices against that group. As a rule, it is the duty of the board of directors to manage and represent the joint stock company. However, Articles 367 and 370 of the Turkish Commercial Code No. 6102 allow for the delegation of these powers to one or some of the members of the board of directors or to third parties under certain conditions. The member of the board of directors who is authorized to represent the joint stock company alone is called the executive member or director, and the third person who is authorized to represent the joint stock company alone is called also the executive director or manager. In this article, the legal status of the executives is determined, the liability of the board of directors in case of delegation is examined, and the issue of whether the executive directors can re-delegate their powers is discussed. In addition, the connection of the issue with the executive and non-executive members of the board of directors within the framework of corporate governance principles is tried to be revealed. Aşırı sağcı ve beyaz üstünlüğünü savunan Brenton Harrison Tarrant tarafından 15 Mart 2019 tarihinde Yeni Zelanda’nın Christchurch kentinde Cuma namazı sırasında gerçekleştirilen terör eyleminin Afganistan uluslararası medyasında nasıl temsil edildiği; terör eyleminin kurbanları olarak Müslümanların ve olayın failinin söz konusu kuruluşların haberlerinde nasıl sunulduğu bu çalışmanın konusunu oluşturmaktadır. Müslümanlara yönelik olarak gerçekleştirilen ve faillerin Batılı olduğu terör eylemlerinin münferit eylemler olarak değerlendirilmesi ve failin de psikolojik sorunlarla çerçevelenmesi ilgili literatürün sıklıkla işaret ettiği bir durumdur. Bu verinin Afganistan’da yayın yapan uluslararası yayın kuruluşları açısından, Christchurch terör saldırıları özelinde geçerli olup olmadığı ya da ne ölçüde geçerli olduğu çalışmanın temel problemini teşkil etmektedir. Hedef kitlenin Müslüman olması ve terör saldırılarının yaygınlığı sebebiyle özellikle Afganistan’da bu türden bir olayın nasıl çerçevelendiğinin ele alınması önem arz etmektedir ve Yeni Zelanda terör olayının Afganistan’da yayın yapan uluslararası medya kuruluşlarında nasıl temsil edildiğine dair herhangi bir çalışma yapılmadığı görülmektedir. Bu önem ve eksiklik çerçevesinde araştırma, uluslararası yayın kuruluşlarının ülke özelindeki misyonlarını belirginleştirmek açısından dikkate değer sonuçlar ortaya koyma potansiyeline sahiptir. Araştırma kapsamında VOA Dari, DW Dari, Özgür Radyosu, BBC Farsça ve Euronews Farsça gibi Afganistan uluslararası medyasının 15.03.2019-27.08.2020 tarihleri arasında kendi internet sitelerinde olay ile ilgili yayınladığı yazılar, nitel araştırma yöntemi tekniklerinden doküman analiziyle ele alınmış elde edilen verilerin analiz edilmesinde içerik analizine başvurulmuştur. Analiz süreci, araştırma alt soruları bağlamındaki temalar doğrultusunda şekillendirilmiştir. Elde edilen veriler çerçevesinde söz konusu medya kuruluşlarının olayı direk olarak terör saldırısı şeklinde vermekten çeşitli tekniklerle ve mümkün olduğu kadar kaçındığı, eylemin failini doğrudan terörist olarak nitelendirmediği bulgulanmıştır. Ayrıca İslam ve Müslüman gibi kavramların yazılarda yeterince kullanılmadığı ve temsil edilmediği tespit edilmiştir. Bu durumda ilgili medya kuruluşlarının uluslararası medya emperyalizmini doğrular biçimde İslomofobik eğilimlere, yerel düzlemde de dahil olduğu ifade edilebilir.

In this study we take up the psychological motives of the simile made with the combination of "mathaluh kamathal" in the Qur'an are discussed. In this sense, this article aimed to establish that rhetoric is related to psychology in many ways. The most obvious of these aspects are the fact that the speech creates a psychological effect on the interlocutor and that there are various types of this effect on the soul of the person. However, since psychology as a science has a breadth beyond the scope of our study, the focus here is on psychological motives as a matter of psychological epistemology, the role of psychological motives, which are also related to morality in terms of regulating human behavior in the Qur'an, has been scrutinized. It has been possible to determine the effect of rhetoric on human motivation, to reach this goal in this issue of simile, which is made with the combination of "mathaluh kamathal" in different verses, we chose that rhetorical structure as a basis in terms of being the most eloquent and persuasive in speaking of Arabic as an application area in the Qur'an. This composition "mesalühû kemeseli" has a great importance especially in the psychological formation of the image created by the Qur'an, we seek to examine the referential and functional importance of using this rhetoric in terms of its relationship with psychological motives. The influence of psychological significance in shaping that pattern of analogy is determined. The connections between psychology and the eloquence of psychological simile were analyzed in the context of the use of the compound "mathaluh kamathal" in the Qur'an, and this analysis is based on three dimensions. first of all, avoiding the negative opposite to encourage positive psychological motivation; secondly, to strengthen the psychological motive of knowledge; The third is to exclude the psychological motive of imitation in human situations in which reason should be applied. The positive motive is encouraged by reference to the representative simile, which includes two opposing motives. So that the positive motive eliminates the negative motive. For this reason, it is excluded from the field of behavior by avoiding negative motivation through representative simile. Next, positive motivation is encouraged through another representative simile. In the construction of the aesthetic image, two or more representative similes are common in order to influence the addressee for the correction of human behavior. Sometimes simile takes place in the way of describing one thing with various adjectives of another thing due to diversity in representation. This diversity coincides with the identification of needs that are the source of the motives. Essentially, it is known that needs arise because of something that man lacks, and this leads people to achieve or realize that thing in order to ensure their psychological stability, and so on the behavior is affected as it is a tool of this process. This issue is clearly seen in the representative similes made in the Qur'an by the combination of "mathaluh kamathal" and aim to encourage the instinct of knowing together with motive of ideal behavior. Thus, it has been determined how to construct the simile used to express the effect of the psychological motivation of imitation on the individual and society. We also tried to provide a deep analysis of the signs of aesthetic similarity of the psychological image in the scene of the imaginary simile that was created through the representation of the metaphor with the combination of "mathaluh kamathal" one after the other.

In this study, the current situation of metropolitan municipal councils will be analyzed as we reach the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Turkey. In Turkey, the governance of metropolitan urban areas occupies an important place in local government literature. Since 1984, the metropolitan governance model has been de facto in practice and has increased its geographical scale with the reforms introduced in 2004 and 2012. These developments also affected the metropolitan municipal councils, which are the decision-making bodies of metropolitan municipalities. Indeed, many processes that diminish the functioning of local democracy in Turkey become more complicated in metropolitan municipal councils. Especially in recent years, the increasing political power of metropolitan mayors in national politics and the metropolitan municipalities that have become the basic authority on the borders of the city with Law No. 6360 have evolved the current strong mayor - weak council relationship to a new dimension; as central government actors intervene more in urban planning processes, the position of metropolitan municipalities, which have broad powers regarding spatial planning, becomes even more complicated. Considering that the majority of the country's population lives in metropolitan cities, an in-depth analysis of these debates is crucial for local government debates as the beginning second century of the Republic before the 2024 local elections. The study consists of three main sections after the introduction. The first section deals with the transformation of metropolitan municipalities in the historical context. The second section analyzes the basic structure and the main handicaps of metropolitan municipal councils. In the third part, some solution proposals for strengthening metropolitan municipal councils are discussed. Books, book chapters, articles, project raports and news in the mass media on representation and decision-making processes in metropolitan municipal councils are the main data source of the study that is used qualitative method. The story of Narcissus was portrayed by artists until the 20th century as a handsome and beautiful young man contemplating himself in the water. These paintings made until modernism represent Narcissus of described in the story with her alluring beauty. In the modern period, Salvador Dali deals with the Narcissus story with a surrealist narrative, based on the story written by Ovid. The work called "Metamorphosis of Narcissus" by Dali does not reflect the attractive beauty of Narcissus with a representative description. The artist created her work with a surrealist approach and included symbolic elements. The aim of this study is to examine the difference between Salvador Dali's work "The Metamorphosis of Narcissus" and the Narcissus-themed paintings that previous painters worked on, by making determinations on the way the painters who deal with the Narcissus story represent the subject. Descriptive research method was used in this research. Within the scope of the research, artists working on the Narcissus story were determined. Bu çalışma, Türk sinemasında 1980-2009 yılları aralığında çekilen on iç göç filminde ‘göçmen kenti’ İstanbul’un nasıl temsil edildiğini irdelemeyi amaçlamaktadır. Film çözümlemesinde iç göç sürecinin tarihsel sosyolojik verileri (göçmenlerin enformel sektörde çalışması, gecekonduda yaşaması vb.) ve trope ’lar kullanılmıştır. Kentin kapılarını açmaması, kent ve kadın özdeşliği, hemşehrilerin göçmenlere bir süre sonra kapılarını kapaması filmlerde sık tekrarlanan trope ’lardır. Kültürel temsiller olarak iç göç filmlerinde kent/İstanbul; ölümler, kayıplar ve mücadeleyle özdeştir. Kente sadece trenle değil, çeşitli ulaşım araçlarıyla gelen göçmenleri İstanbul’da bekleyen genelde ölüm olur. Yaşayanların değil ölülerin kentidir İstanbul! Film kahramanları tarihsel ve sosyolojik gelişmelere koşut bir biçimde gecekondu ve apartmanda bir yaşam sürerken bir yandan da film kahramanlarının evsizlik hâlleri de göze çarpar. Göç edenlerin kente geliş sebepleri çeşitli olsa da iş temel nedendir ancak bulunan işler geçici ve güvencesizdir.

This study is intended to demonstrate how women are represented in dystopian works. For this purpose, We by Yevgeni Zamyatin, Swastika Night by Katharine Burdekin, 1984 by George Orwell, and The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood have been examined in detail. Priorities in writing this study are to reveal the points of view of male and female writers to woman, to discuss the effects of the different perspectives of the writers on the representations of women, and to unearth the messages given in the works. The study consists of two chapters. In the first chapter, the concepts of utopia and dystopia are dwelled on. The studies on design and design methods increased towards the end of the twentieth century in industrialized societies, however, the act of design started to be carried out with different auxiliary tools. The digital and algorithmic structure behind the computer has begun to provide the designer with different possibilities outside of the traditional drawing environment. After this period, the queries and discussions on the content of the design, its components, the intellectual process of the designer, and similar issues gradually increased. Within this scope, new theories and methods have emerged. In today's design, especially with digital technologies, transformations in theory and practice in the design process have brought new methods with them. Architects and designers have now become design tool developers rather than using use of the design tool. Based on this, the assistive tools that determine the current architectural design style is aimed to be explored in this paper. The study contributes to the field by (i) exploring these tools and their latent features, (ii) assessing the pros and cons of these tools, and (iii) last, implementing these design tools on the case studies.

Makale, öncelikle akademik metnin hegemonyasını aşmayı, tamamlamayı ya da tersine çevirmeyi amaçlayan beş yaklaşımı tartışmaktadır. Bu beş yaklaşım; (1) bilim iletişimi, bilimin popülerleştirilmesi ve bilgi yayılımı kümesi; (2) bilgi değişimi ve katılımcı, dönüştürücü ve müdahaleci (eylem) araştırma kümesi; (3) çok modlu akademik iletişim; (4) görsel antropoloji ve görsel sosyoloji kümesi ve (5) sanat-temelli araştırmadır. Her bir yaklaşım yazılı akademik metnin hegemonyasını farklı şekilde ele aldığı (aştığı) için, makalenin ilk bölümü bu yaklaşımları detaylandırmaktadır. İkinci bölümde, akademik bilgi iletişimi alanında varlığını devam ettiren yazılı akademik metnin ötesine geçmeyi açıkça amaçlamış Demokrasinin Sırça Köşkü enstalasyon deneyi otoetnagrafik olarak analiz edilmektedir. Deney, akademik iletişimin bütünleşik ve tekrarlayan doğası, hibrit akademik-sanatsal kimlik ve kamuların çeşitliliği üzerine düşünmeyi sağlamaktadır. Hem beş yaklaşımı içeren teorik tartışma hem de Demokrasinin Sırça Köşkü enstalasyonu, çok modlu ve/veya sanat-temelli akademik iletişimle ilgili daha fazla deneye ve teorileştirmeye yönelik bir çağrının parçasıdır.

Reklamlar, kapitalist pazar ekonomisiyle birlikte siyasal otoritenin şekillendirdiği medya içeriklerinden biridir. Aynı zamanda reklamlar, toplumsal yapıların ve kültürel kodların üretilmesinde ve yeniden üretilmesinde etkileyici bir araç konumundadır. Söz konusu durum, Nike’ın reklam filmi (“What will they say about you?”) üzerinden tartışmaya açılmaktadır. Bu çalışmada söz konusu reklamın Müslüman Arap kadınını, hangi söylemlerle ve temsil biçimleriyle yansıttığını reklam ve gerçeklik ilişkisi bağlamında sorunsallaştırılmıştır. Reklam metni Norman Fairclough’un üç aşamalı modeline göre eleştirel söylem analizi yöntemiyle çözümlenmiştir. Sonuç olarak reklamda oryantalist temsil, patetik temsil ve yok temsili bulgulanmıştır. Aynı zamanda reklam, söylem dilini üçüncü şahıs çoğul zamiri “onlar” üzerinden kurmuştur. Bu nedenle “Onlar” tabiri Heidegger’in “das Man” (onlar) kavramı üzerinden okunarak çözümlenmiştir. ‘Onlar’ın iktidarın farklı görünümleri olan siyasi erk, aile, komşu, sosyal çevre, gelenek ve kültür çerçevesinde şekillenmiş ataerkil toplum baskısını nitelediği bulgulanmıştır. Ayrıca Nike firmasının kendisini hâkim olan ideolojik ve geleneksel yapıya karşı çıkan tarafta konumlarken aslında bu yapıyı beslediği ve yeniden üretime soktuğu ortaya çıkmıştır.

Sculptures have been important symbols that constitute the cultural identities of societies in every period of history. As a monumental form sculpture to be property the most important references of socio-cultural analysis with its representation reflecting its period, rather than being a work of art that exists on its own at the point in the public space where it is hosted. The relationship of a society and period with sculptures clearly is unrolled the relationship of power with society and society with the individual. It would have not been a wrong approach to consider monumental sculptures as a means reflecting of history, power, and cultural values. In this context, it is possible to consider and evaluate the sculptures have been property in the public space as a representation of existence and sustainability of the existing regimes and ideologies. Examination area of the study consists of large-scale rock sculptures especially, which were built by single-party governments in the post-twentieth century period, large-size sculptures and reliefs applied by interfering with natural. It is seen the works depicted at colossal dimensions and positioned at important points of the settlement area and ideological, religious, or be dictator meanings are attributed to these practices. This research has been done in accordance with document analysis, which is one of the qualitative research methods. The relationship between applied sculptures has been handled with the defined ideological dynamics. The data obtained as a result of the research were analyzed and interpreted descriptively. The examples discussed are works in which the concern of leaving large-scale works is clearly observed. In the study, how the large-scale monuments positioned at dominant points reflect the current power and how they are used as ideological tools were examined based on indicators and a situation assessment was made.
