Almeida, Amarilla y Barán estudiaron el problema de minimización multiobjetivo de costo a corto, mediano y largo plazo para la ubicación de centrales telefónicas en la ciudad de la Asunción, Paraguay, determinando el número de centrales y la ubicación ´optima de estas centrales usando el algoritmo evolutivo SPEAII. Wireless links are emerging as a superior alternative to the copper pair for the local loop in telephony. However, to provide for sufficient subscriber density with a reasonable bandwidth allocation, a micro-cellular architecture is a must. Further, the wireless local loop system is best interfaced as a remote access unit to an exchange. The V5.2 standard provides a convenient protocol for interfacing in this manner to all exchanges.

Abstract

The digital voice/data PBX is finally reaching its anticipated potential and becoming a major factor when considering the total communications picture for many businesses today. The digital PBX has always been the choice for voice communications but has lagged behind the LAN industry when it comes to data transfers. The pendulum has begun to swing with the enhanced data capabilities of third and fourth generation PBXs. The battle for the total communication market is quite fierce between the LAN and PBX vendors now. This research thesis looks at the history, evolution, and architecture of voice/data PBXs. It traces development of PBXs through the present fourth generation architectures. From the first manual switches introduced in the late 1800's through the Strowger switch, step-by-step switching, stored program control, common control, digital switches, dual bus architectures, and finally what is anticipated in the future. A detailed description of the new fourth generation dual bus architectures is presented. Lastly, speculations on the future direction PBX architectures will take is explored. A description of the mechanics of a possible Wave Division PBX is presented based on a fiber optic transport system.

The tests listed in chapter 2 and outlined in chapter 3 are considered the minimum that are to be performed on each base cable system to determine cable plant condition and performance capability. The procedures contained in chapter 4 are applicable to X-Y type telephone exchanges; however, with minor changes they can be modified for other manufacture type of step-by-step office equipment. Cross-bar, electronic and all relay type exchange switching used by USACC units will be included in this pamphlet as they are developed. Chapter 5 consists of a series of checklists for a visual inspection on the quality of workmanship and installation techniques. Where considered necessary, tutorial information is included.

SPC-ohjattujen digitaalisten vaihteiden uusi sukupolvi mahdollistaa puheen, datan ja tekstin välityksen joko yhden vaihteen tai yksittäisten vaihteiden integroinnin eli ns. vaihdeverkon kautta aina 64 kbit/s siirtonopeuteen asti. Digitaalisten vaihteiden markkinoille tuloa on kuitenkin hidastanut mm. standardien puuttuminen liitäntöjen ja merkinannon osalta. Nyt hankittavien digitaalisten vaihteiden on vaikeuksitta sovelluttava digitaaliseen ympäristöön. Kuten edellä todettiin digitaalisen pubelinvaihteen ja päätelaitteiden liitäntöjen standardisointityö on vielä kesken. Kansainväliset standardit täyttäviä liitäntäratkaisuja voidaan odottaa teollisella asteella aikaisintaan tämän vuosikymmenen puolivälin jälkeen. Eniten digitaalisten vaihteiden hintaan vaikuttaa tällä hetkellä liitäntätapa yleiseen keskukseen.
