The fast development of engineering technologies forces a wide range of students to choose the technological path for their careers. Universities focus on theoretical study with limited practical exposure. To ensure students are prepared for the industry requirements, engineering universities set a core industrial experience for all students. This industrial experience aims to bridge the gap between academia and industry and to ensure students have gained the required industrial. The work in this paper highlights the importance of continuous professional development (CPD) hours for engineering students. The paper studies the impact of CPD hours on the critical skills of the student learning outcomes. A descriptive analytical methodology is applied to examine this impact. Thus, a survey of 34 questions was created and distributed to students at engineering schools in different universities across the MENA and Gulf Region. A sample of 234 answers is collected and analyzed using a statistical package for the social sciences (SPSS). The results show that students agree that CPD activities can enhance their learning outcomes, teamwork skills, public speaking, and technical competencies. The results show that student believes that CPD activity may enhance their chance of securing employment within a short timeline after graduation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
One of the important pillars for achieving organizational objectives is the presence of qualified human resources. Professional competencies in experts working in agricultural consulting, technical, and engineering services companies (ACTESCs) can be a basis for the quality of human resources and assure the quality of the functions of this system. Accordingly, this study aimed to identify the professional competencies required by extension experts working in these companies to provide extension services from their perspectives. The research method was a survey. The statistical population of the study consisted of 593 extension experts working in these companies, from whom 234 people were selected as the sample by the use of Cochran's formula. In the field stage, a questionnaire was used as the main research tool. The face and content validities as well as the reliability of the research tool were confirmed. The result of the structural equation modeling approach confirmed the hypothesis that economic, technical, and communicational functions play roles in providing extension services. Accordingly, it is recommended to fill the gap between the existing competencies and the competencies required by the experts working in the ACTESCs to provide appropriate Private Extension Services (PESs). In Jordan’s banking sector, organizations face the dual challenge of stability and innovation. Achieving this balance requires a deep grasp of leveraging capabilities for existing opportunities and exploring new ones. The key lies at the intersection of business intelligence and organizational ambidexterity. Therefore, this study has investigated the relationship between business intelligence and organizational ambidexterity within the Jordanian banking sector. It examined the impact of managerial, technical, and cultural competencies of business intelligence on organizational ambidexterity in Jordanian commercial banks listed on the Amman Stock Exchange. The quantitative study involved 449 bank employees. The data were gathered via a questionnaire, and the responses were analyzed using R language version 4.2.2. The results indicated that managerial competencies (z = 8.26, p = 0.000) and technical competencies (z = 4.09, p = 0.000) exhibit statistically significant positive direct effects on organizational ambidexterity. Additionally, cultural competencies were found to have a statistically significant direct effect on organizational ambidexterity (z = 2.083, p = 0.037). Managerial, technical, and cultural business intelligence competencies play crucial roles in the adoption of organizational ambidexterity among Jordanian commercial banks. Achieving organizational ambidexterity necessitates integrating these competencies with organizational capabilities.

Background: In the realm of talent acquisition and supply chain management (SCM), the establishment of a standardised competency framework is pivotal. However, a lack of consensus in the supply chain management literature persists regarding the prioritisation of competencies for SCM professional recruitment in South Africa. This necessitates a reevaluation of SCM competencies to align with the dynamic business environment. Objectives: To understand the competencies necessary for supply chain professionals in South Africa's SCM job market to inform curriculum development for the training of supply chain profession at higher education institutions. Method: A qualitative, grounded theory approach was followed. Content analysis was conducted on 29 SCM job advertisements posted on various employment agents' websites. Atlas was then used to create codes and code groups and themes describing the SCM job market needs and expectations. Results: While technical competencies maintain their significance, strategic thinking and cognitive capabilities are increasing in their importance compared with interpersonal skills in the SCM job market. Conclusion: The required competencies for SCM roles are evolving, with an increasing emphasis on strategic and cognitive skills rather than just technical abilities. Interpersonal competencies, although still important, are becoming less crucial. Training institutions should adjust their curricula to ensure well-rounded SCM professionals. Contribution: The literature reflecting the fast evolving nature of SCM competencies is sparse. This study challenges the prevailing narrative that emphasizes technical and interpersonal competencies thereby opening new pathways for curriculum development and professional training of SCM professionals. The study dealt with the extent to which the requirements of international accounting education standards are applied in the accounting education curricula in Sudanese universities and their role in raising the efficiency of graduates - a case study of Kassala University. The problem of the study was the phenomenon of low efficiency of graduates of accounting departments from Sudanese universities, and this was expressed by a main question represented in the extent to which the requirements of international accounting education standards are applied in the accounting curricula in Sudanese universities. The study aimed to clarify the requirements of international accounting education standards when designing accounting curricula in universities, and to indicate the outputs of accounting education targeted from accounting programs and their role in raising the efficiency of graduates, in addition to studying and analyzing the requirements of international accounting education standards and comparing them with the accounting curricula in Sudanese universities. To achieve the objectives of the study, the researchers relied on the inductive approach, the deductive approach, as well as the comparative approach by addressing the requirements of international accounting education standards and comparing them with the curricula applied in Sudanese universities. The researchers reached many results, the most important of which are: The approach applied in the Department of Accounting and Finance, Kassala University does not take into account the requirements of international accounting education standards issued by the Accounting Education Standards Board (IAESB) and of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC), the approach applied in the Department of Accounting and Finance, Kassala University does not contribute To provide the graduate with the necessary professional competence. The researchers also concluded a number of recommendations, the most important of which are: taking into account that the curriculum focuses on general issues in accounting education, the business environment and technical knowledge, that the assessment process for competencies should be graded according to levels, by addressing the complex issues that graduates may face in practice, and this is using Questions and applications that do not have definite answers.

Purpose: The realization of large, characterized by high uncertainty and variability IT projects is usually complicated and overlong, and their effectiveness often lower than expected. Hence the role of the project leader as the person responsible for the success of the project is of particular importance. In this context the purpose of the paper was to investigate the relationship between technical (directional in IT) education and technical experience in IT of a leader, and team work effectiveness in IT projects, recognized as one of the predictors of the project's success. Design/methodology/approach: Empirical research was conducted to verify the existence of the predicted relationship and to reach the aim of the paper. The study was quantitative in character. The set of hypotheses was built based on the theoretical research and then verified the CAWI method on sample of 178 respondents working on IT projects in organizations operating in Poland. The calculations were made using the PS Imago Pro ver. 7.0 and Process macro for SPSS ver. 4.1 by Andrew F. Hayes. Findings: It has been shown that there is indirect relationship between the studied variables, and the mediators of this relationship are leader’s technical competences and the leader’s efficiency. There is a mediation relationship between the dependent variable (team work effectiveness) and independent variables (technical education and technical experience in IT of a leader). Research limitations/implications: Performed empirical study is burdened with certain limitations. The obtained sample of 178 respondents is by far not a representative sample and verified only in one business context (Poland). In order to generalize the results in future research cross-national study and larger samples can be collected. Practical implications: The obtained results contribute to practice of management, showing that among various groups of factors determining team work effectiveness in IT projects both soft and hard (technical) competencies of the leader are important. The latter are shaped by the technical, directional (in IT) education and technical (in IT) experience of the leader. This has practical implications, especially for HR services in the process of employees recruitment. In addition to soft skills, knowledge of programming languages and programming experience should be a significant assets wanted when hiring IT project managers. Originality/value: This research enhances understanding factors determining team work effectiveness in IT projects. The research make an important contribution to the body of project management and human resources management literature by demonstrating the meaning of the technical education and technical experience of a leader for team work effectiveness in IT projects. - Abstract
This article investigates the data analytics job market in Australia and New Zealand with a focus to find the major professions that exist and how they are distinguished one from another in technical competencies. The main purposes are to inform data analytics curriculum design and development to enhance market relevance and graduate employability as well as to provide advice to assist quality assurance for the associated professional course accreditations. Currently, data analytics, either as a course or as a specialised program, is offered by different schools and in different disciplines. The variances and discrepancies among them are large and concerning. This article is the first part and partial literature review of a larger study which later includes text mining and examination (using R) of 540 job advertisements in five industries that demand data analytics skills the most. It is found that business analyst, data analyst and data scientist are three major professions in Australia and New Zealand. The larger study fills a gap in the data analytics literature by focusing on countries other than the U.S. It also offers key specific competencies for universities and the professional accrediting bodies to focus on when developing and evaluating data analytic courses and programs. It will benefit students, practitioners, employers and other parties interested in achieving better outcomes for professional development, employment and economics in capitalising values, capabilities and potentials pertaining to data analytics. The management of activities in an agile environment takes place in iterative and incremental processes, in which people from the development team and other project stakeholders effectively work together to understand a given problem, in addition to keeping priority to activities with the greatest business value for the client. This article aims to understand the competencies of an agile team for managing activities in an agile environment. The systematic literature review was performed by using the Web of Science and Scopus databases, in which 1035 articles were found after the application of filters and criteria for inclusion and exclusion. Next, 320 articles were left for full and in-depth reading, which resulted in 126 articles considered to be valid for research. The articles were categorized by using Excel spreadsheets in order to group the findings and allow the comparison of categories. The results demonstrated four categories regarding (1) competencies, (2) tools, (3) relationship with the activity, and (4) characteristics of the development team. It was also highlighted that the technical competencies of the development team must be used in new tools. As for iterations, it is also necessary to promote a process of managing interpersonal competencies to ensure engagement and the ability to communicate effectively with business people and project members. A model is presented that can be used as a tool to support the planning of activities in an agile environment. The development team must have competencies for using new tools during iteration, given the complexity existing in each activity and the critical relationship of each activity with the finalization phase of the iteration. Abstract Background Evidence-based clinical practice is an inherent component of mental health professional practice in developed countries. However, little is known about professional perspectives of evidence-based practice in mental in developing countries such as Ghana. This paper describes the processes involved in the delivery of best practice in Ghana. The paper reports on a realistic evaluation of mental health nurses and allied health professionals’ views on the evidence-based therapeutic process in Ghana. Methods A purposive sample of 30 mental health professionals (MHPs) was recruited to participate in semi-structured, in-depth interviews. Thematic analysis was used to analyse the data. A program theory of Context + Mechanism = Outcome (CMO) configuration was developed from the analysis. Results The thematic analysis identified two contexts, mechanism and outcome configurations (themes): 1) technical competency stimulates evidence-based mental health services, and 2) therapeutic relationship building ensures effective interaction. The study demonstrates that contextual factors (technical competencies and therapeutic relationship building) together with mechanisms (intentional and unintentional) help to promote quality in mental health service provision. However, contextual factors such as a lack of sign language interpreters yielded unintended outcomes including barriers to communication with providers for consumers with hearing impairment and those from linguistic minority backgrounds. Conclusion Government stakeholders and policymakers should prioritise policies, periodic monitoring and adequate financial incentives to support the mechanisms that promote technical competence in MHPs and the building of therapeutic relationship.

The world is looking for ways to solve the problem of insufficient acquisition of technical competencies as well as the lack of experiential knowledge of students. The choice of modern teaching strategies and methods is most important. Unlike, those traditional methods, where the role of the teacher is exclusively teaching - the transmitter of knowledge, and students are passive recipients of information, modern teaching allows active involvement in the teaching process. Project teaching and learning is a comprehensive approach to learning where students are engaged in collaborative active work researching authentic problems in everyday life. The essence of project learning is in the process as a path to cognition, where project teaching expresses creativity, creative thinking, solving real problems, which is actually the goal of modern teaching. This final work presents project teaching as a basis for acquiring engineering competencies. Through examples of good practice - projects and numerous initiatives of successful engineering education in STEM areas are briefly described. The education of polytechnic engineers was analyzed with supported examples and employment opportunities in the labor market. Finally, an example of a functional use object "Smart Watch" is given as an indicator of project teaching at the Polytechnic study, together with all project documentation. Project - based learning integrates knowledge from different fields that are necessary for the development of a young engineer in the labor market.

Background Evidence-based clinical practice is an inherent component of mental health professional practice in developed countries.

This study determined the acquired knowledge, perceptions and attitudes of medical and health librarians in the Philippines on the impact of Library 2.0. The study verified the level of awareness and revealed the gaps among medical and health librarians in the use, creation and adaptation of Library 2.0 tools especially in informing, educating and empowering their users. It also recognized which technology is more common to Health Science Librarians, Library 1.0 or Library 2.0, in the time of abrupt technological changes. Furthermore, the study evaluated if the librarians have learned from the previous seminars conducted by MAHLAP (or from other library organizations) on the topic of emerging technologies and Web 2.0 through demonstration of applied skills as referred by the indicators set by technical competencies for health librarians. The study had surveyed 43 health and medical librarians in the Luzon area. Two kinds of questionnaires were sent out. First is for the off icers of the Medical and Health Librarians Association of the Philippines and second is for the medical and health librarians. The first survey will determine if they allow the researcher to use MAHLAP as its collaborator for the study. The second survey is for MAHLAP members listed in the 2009 online directory. The research introduced the draft technical competencies prepared for the medical and health librarians in the Philippines and its importance for a national and coordinated staff development program that is geared towards the improvement of their skills and knowledge that is relevant to the current demands of the library users and services.

The purpose of this study was to develop an effective instrument to measure student readiness in online learning with reliable predictors of online learning success factors such as learning outcomes and learner satisfaction. The validity and reliability of the Student Online Learning Readiness (SOLR) instrument were tested using exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and reliability analysis. Twenty items from three competencies–social competencies, communication competencies, and technical competencies–were designated for the initial instrument based on the Student Online Learning Readiness (SOLR) Model as a new conceptual model. An exploratory factor analysis (EFA) revealed that four factor-structures of the instrument of student readiness in online learning explained 66.69% of the variance in the pattern of relationships among the items. All four factors had high reliabilities (all at or above Cronbach’s α > .823). Twenty items remained in the final questionnaire after deleting two items which cross-loaded on multiple factors (social competencies with classmates: five items; social competencies with instructor: five items; communication competencies: four items; and technical competencies: six items). The four-factor structure of the Student Online Learning Readiness (SOLR) instrument has been confirmed through this study. Educators can use the Student Online Learning Readiness (SOLR) instrument in order to gain a better understanding of the level of freshmen college students’ online learning readiness by measuring their social, communication, and technical competencies. In addition, this study examined two factors of social integration in Tinto’s Student Integration Model (SIM) and has introduced the Student Online Learning Readiness (SOLR) conceptual model with the purpose of extending Tinto’s social integration model to online learning environments.

38. Estetisk eller teknisk kompetens inom yrkeslärarutbildning

- Abstract
Many vocations represented within vocational education demands both technical and aesthetical competences. The balance between these two are different depending on the particular vocation. For the florist or the tailor aesthetics it’s is an important aspect of the output, for the chef it is important to present the dinner in a way that increases the overall experience for the customer. Apart from repairing cars the mechanic rebuilds and paints cars. All these are activities that demands a certain amount of aesthetical competence, apart from technical competencies. In this chapter I argue that the students’ interactions within the vocational educational setting affects the opportunities to make aesthetical experiences. In particular I have studied how expressions of humour, self-confidence and insecurity affects the opportunities for the students to develop technical and aesthetical competencies respectively. The study is video ethnographical and the analysis build upon detailed transcriptions of the students’ interactions using concepts from conversation analysis and discursive psychology. In summary, the results show that expressions of self-confidence and humour on behalf of others diminishes opportunities to make aesthetical experiences whereas humour about social conduct in general and expressions of insecurity rather increases the opportunities for the students to engage in aesthetical practices.

The fast changing marketplaces, increasing customer expectations, aspiration for work-life balance, and the increasing exchange of international employees across different countries, the regionalization towards the ASEAN 2015 are unavoidable drivers of change that the 21
st century business leader and manager has to focus on and attend to in order to further progress organization effectiveness, productivity and business results. This current and future flux of these driving forces critically influences the organization strategy, decision making processes, and the achievement of the organization's bottom-line. Thus, business leaders and managers are challenged to think and act differently and creatively. This research is an attempt to present baseline data that will help determine the next best steps for today's business leaders and managers to level themselves up to the challenges. This study presents (1) the competencies/skills are critical for the 21st century business practitioners in national, international and global village; (2) which competencies/skills are most urgent and needed for the industry; and (3) a set of recommendations for Organization Development Interventions in order to best hone the competencies/skills in view of the challenges. Data was gathered using on-line questionnaires which were distributed to the business practitioners holding current positions ranging from Assistant Managers, Directors up to the Top Executives level. Most of the respondents (n=218) came from the service industry. The major findings reveal that there are five areas which are the most critical competencies/skills required for Thai managers, namely: (1) English language communications skills; (2) innovative and ingenious practices in developing products and services; (3) hands-on execution of business/services for strategic planning and management; (4) process-learning which is a critical skill for coaching and empowerment in developing the human potential; and (5) the open-mindedness for the cultural diversities where business/services are. Lastly, the selection and design of talented and professional development programs need to veer away from the standard or prefabricated training program. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]- Published

University-industry collaboration patterns in more advanced economies have greatly impacted expectations for higher educational systems in developing countries. In Saudi Arabia, generally poor innovation performance of domestic industry has been perceived as a constraint in global competitiveness. The purpose of this study was to determine if there were differences among employers, and university academicians on their perceptions of the importance of skills and competencies that are needed by graduates seeking entry-level employment. The results suggest that a lack of efficient direct mechanisms to encourage university-industry collaboration has given rise to large disparities in the ability of individual institutions to interface with the corporate sector. This study found that there is vital need of soft skill development in the future graduates. Moreover, students need to be exposed to service-learning concepts. The service-learning projects should be incorporated in all the courses. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

EnglishThis study aimed to analyze the profile required by the labor market for accounting professionals in the area of costs, based on the guidelines of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC), analyzing 155 job openings announced on the Manager Jobs website. The co-occurrence networks obtained by the Jaccard coefficient allowed for outlining the professional profile required by the job market. The findings indicate that, showing multidisciplinary knowledge, preparing reports for decision making, mastering elements of information technology and English language are among the identified technical concerns. Regarding professional skills, we found that possessing communication skills, critical and analytical thinking, systemic vision, focus, organization and ethics are highlighted by organizations that intend to hire cost professionals. The results imply the importance of developing, besides technical skills, social skills with students of Accounting courses in order to meet the demands of the labor market, and for students to become able to make their curricula attractive to organizations and overcome barriers sometimes existing due to little professional experience in the job market. portuguesO estudo teve como objetivo analisar o perfil requerido pelo mercado de trabalho para profissionais contabeis da area de custos a partir das diretrizes da International Federation of Accountants (IFAC), sendo analisadas 155 vagas de emprego anunciadas no site Manager Empregos. - Abstract
Production system lifecycle includes phases ranging from concept pre-study to ramp-up and operations. Manufacturing companies often face challenges to reach operational performance targets during ramp-up time and operation phase. The design phase is considered crucial as major decisions related to the future production system are taken during this phase. There is an opportunity to utilize the production system design phase to improve the operational performance during both the ramp-up and operation phase. This research aims to identify the critical factors of the design process that affect the performance in the ramp-up and operational phase. A case study was conducted in a pharmaceutical company where a completed project of launching a new production line for a new product was followed in retrospect. Data were collected by conducting interviews with different members involved in the project and the production team on the shop floor. By qualitative data analysis, critical factors affecting the project´s operational performance were identified; such as level of internal technical competency; involvement level of future line manager, operator and project sponsor within the project team; project team´s competency; pre-study of the business case; time pressure to complete the project; expertise of product and process; organization’s continuous improvement culture; and relationship with the supplier., QC 20200930

- Abstract
This study aimed to analyze the profile required by the labor market for accounting professionals in the area of costs, based on the guidelines of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC), analyzing 155 job openings announced on the Manager Jobs website. The results imply the importance of developing, besides technical skills, social skills with students of Accounting courses in order to meet the demands of the labor market, and for students to become able to make their curricula attractive to organizations and overcome barriers sometimes existing due to little professional experience in the job market., O estudo teve como objetivo analisar o perfil requerido pelo mercado de trabalho para profissionais contábeis da área de custos a partir das diretrizes da International Federation of Accountants (IFAC), sendo analisadas 155 vagas de emprego anunciadas no site Manager Empregos. First is for the officers of the Medical and Health Librarians Association of the Philippines and second is for the medical and health librarians. The article examines the impact of teamwork on corporate socialization in Scotland. The article is based on a research project undertaken within the Scottish spirits industry. The empirical research is concerned with two organizations, United Distillers and Allied Distillers (ADL), and two bottling operations in each of these organizations. The discussion of the empirical findings is located within contemporary debates in a variety of social science literatures, in an attempt to examine the often polarized accounts of the to-operative psychological, and the "coercive" sociological and critical literature. UD undertook a large restructuring programme in the early 1990s, and on the back of this came Towards World Class (TWC), a strategic organizational change programme in which building and refashioning organizational culture on the shop floor was deemed as important to competitiveness as enhancing operating efficiencies. Teamwork was the core element of the work organization element of the change package. It was introduced first at the start of 1993 at the Leven bottling plant in Fife. This in itself was interesting in that it had a normative rationale. The plant was in an area with strong union and labour movement traditions and had a reputation for difficult industrial relations.

- Abstract
While the Army and Air Force components of the National Guard incorporate their parent services' established senior leader development strategies, the National Guard still lacks a cohesive strategy that incorporates the parents' strategies with the distinctive requirements of National Guard leadership. The National Guard needs leaders who will be its advocates, who will inform the parent services and civilian leadership of the unique capabilities offered by the nation's only dual-mission military service. This paper examines the strategic leader competencies that will be required of future senior officers in the National Guard, the National Guard's current senior leader development process compared with that of the parent services, shortfalls in senior leader preparation strategy and execution, and potential options to mitigate any shortcomings in preparing National Guard leaders for strategic and national-level positions., Strategy Research Project.
