The study's objectives are to i) develop a test kit to determine the ability of multiple intelligences (MI) to play basketball in high school and ii) measure a student's MI test ability in playing basketball. The method used is the development of instruments with analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation (ADDIE). The study subjects comprised five schools in five districts in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. With a total sample of 1029 students. The results showed i) that test kits developed to assess students' MI abilities meet valid and reliable requirements. It can be seen from the validity of the contents of V-Aiken (0.96) and the validity of the construct, namely the loading factor > 0.3. With the analysis of the item classically, it detects that the level of difficulty and differentiability of the problem is good and according to the criteria; ii) the results of MI capability measurements show 55% of capabilities with the "high" category, 35% with the "medium" category, and 10% with the "low" category.

The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between lower extremity flexibility values and vertical jump performance of elite soccer players. Twenty-six young elite male soccer players voluntarily participated in the study. Age, height, and weight of the participants were determined as descriptive statistics. Lower extremity flexibility (ROM) test and vertical jump (counter movement jump=CMJ) performance determination test were applied to the participants. A goniometer was used for lower extremity flexibility measurement and My Jump 2 application, which has proven its validity and reliability, was used for CMJ performances. Descriptive characteristics of the participants included in the study were mean age: 16.23 ±.51 years, height: 172.96 ±7.56 cm, body weight: 63,15±7,69 kg. The mean values of CMJ performance of the participants were: 37,54±5,51; the mean value of lower extremity flexibility angles (ROM) was 115±4,99°. According to the data obtained, a statistically significant relationship was observed between ROM and CMJ performance characteristics of elite soccer players (p=0.008) (p<0.05). According to the results obtained, a significant relationship was found between ROM and CMJ performances of soccer players. It can be said that teaching the importance of flexibility exercises to soccer players in soccer training programs and including them in training programs will positively affect the sudden power output performances of soccer players such as jumping.

This study aims to examine the self- confidence and self-efficacy levels of soccer referees. It was conducted with relational using survey model quantitative research method. The sample of the study consisted of 100 people working as football referees in Nicosia, Famagusta, Kyrenia, Güzelyurt and Iskele districts in TRNC. As data collection tools, a form containing personal information of the participants, the Self-Confidence Scale developed by Akin (2007) and the Referee Self-Efficacy Scale developed by Myers, Feltz, Gullien, and Dithurbide (2012) and the Turkish validity oath reliability study conducted by Karaçam and Pulur (2017) were used. According to the data obtained, it is seen that soccer referees generally have a high level of self-confidence and self-efficacy. Of particular, it is noteworthy that the average values of general self-confidence and general self-efficacy are quite high. However, there are lower means values in some areas in the subscales, indicating that there is potential for improvement in certain areas. Moreover, a positive oath significant relationship was found between self-efficacy levels of soccer referees oath internal self-confidence. Similar to a positive oath significant relationship was found between external self-confidence and self-efficacy levels (Sertel, Gökbörü & Yinal, 2023). Similar results were obtained by examining self-efficacy in general, and positive oath significant relationships were found between physical self-efficacy, game knowledge, decision making, pressure oath communication and self-efficacy. However, the relationship between external self-confidence and self-efficacy was not statistically significant the effect of general self-confidence on self-efficacy levels are statistically uncertain As a result, it is seen that external self-confidence does not have a significant role in explaining self-efficacy levels, but the The effect of general self-confidence is uncertain. Others variables may need to be taken into consideration to further explain this model.

The impact of Muslim parents on their daughters' sports and games in inclusion varies, spanning from progressive endorsement due to the physical and social advantages to reservations grounded in traditions and religious convictions. This has culminated in limited Muslim female inclusion in sporting events. This study explored the inclusion of female Muslim students in sports and games in Islamic schools using a qualitative research approach with 20 participants, which include 10 teachers and 10 parents. Concerning parents' and Islamic teachers' perceptions of Muslim females' inclusion in sports and games, three core thematic areas were revealed: positive influence on character development, school for Important Skills, and secret Code for Success, which favourably influences the diverse development of Muslim girls. Numerous considerations at individual levels of the Social Ecological Model (SEM) influence parental decisions about Muslim female sports inclusion. Individually, parental choices are induced by weighty factors, including religious convictions (prayer periods), cultural principles, and modesty concerns. The study further unearths how teachers shape the sports climate at the organisational level. The organisation's endeavours to provide inclusive and supportive settings for Muslim female girls are shown in the adaptation of activities, deliberate education and awareness promotion, partnership promotion and incorporation of scientific notions into sporting events. As sports are seen as important educational instruments for fostering the development of Muslim female students, they must be integrated into the curriculum. Stakeholders in the education sector must collaborate to guarantee Muslim female students receive a fair opportunity to excel in sports and games while respecting their cultural and religious beliefs utilising these synchronised initiatives.

The power of sport to affect social change is widely acknowledged. However, little empirical research has explored the use of sport in engaging young people in global education. This article fills the gap by exploring the role of sport using experiential learning tools as delivery methodology for global education in the context of Central Europe (Czechia). The study focuses on the experiential learning process of the study participants, a mixed intercultural team of Czech and Kenyan youth ambassadors participating in a Football for Development project with the aim of engendering cultural understanding, respecting diversity as positive and valuing differences as beneficial to society. The study benefited from a newly developed non-conventional data collection tool enhancing the research methodology and allowing for the facilitation of the participants' ability to discover and process the experience-related learning through reflexivity. By showing the changes in knowledge, skills, values and attitudes, our findings indicate how the sport for development programme contributes to creating a semi-conscious learning environment for global education.

This study aims to evaluate the physical abilities of U15 age category football players in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. The Functional Movement Screening (FMS) tests and digital goniometer measurement values of the football players who voluntarily participated in the study and did not have any injury history were compared. The findings show that there are statistically significant differences between the angles of movement such as hip flexion, extension, abduction, internal rotation and external rotation in various movement tests (deep squat, high stepping, single line lunge, shoulder mobility, active straight leg lift, trunk stability push-ups, rotation stability). These results reveal that football players may vary in certain movements according to their positions and physical abilities, and these differences may have an impact on their performance. The research provides an important basis for understanding the physical characteristics of young footballers and optimizing their training programs accordingly. Such studies play a critical role in developing more personalized training and rehabilitation strategies for athletes to improve their performance and reduce the risk of injury.

The aim of this study is to determine the 7-day exercise and physical activity levels of physically disabled athletes located in all geographical regions of Turkey and to examine the factors affecting this. The Physical Activity Scale for Individuals with a Physical Disability was applied as an online survey. The study group consisted of 224 physically disabled athletes, including orthopedic standing, orthopedic wheelchair, visually and hearing impaired athletes. In the analyses, MannWhitney U test for independent groups in binary categorical variables; the Kruskal-Wallis test was used for triple categorical variables. One-Way Analysis of Variance for the Obstacle Type variable, Post-Hoc multiple comparison test was applied for significant differences and Tamhane's T2 Test was used, one of the non-homogeneous Post-Hoc tests. When the 7-day physical activity status of physically disabled individuals is examined; It was determined that they participated in the activity situations in the questions in 3 subcategories for less than 1 hour. It was determined that social media had the highest score in the orientation variables and there was a significant difference between the school/physical education teacher and social media. In the analysis made on the variables of disability types, it was found that there was a significant difference between hearing and orthopedic wheelchair disabled people in repair and gardening work. As a result, it is thought that more licensed athletes should be trained and their participation in sports competitions should be supported in order to enable physically disabled athletes to participate in sports activities in their daily lives, and that individuals can lead a healthy life by increasing their physical activities.

Basketball, as one of the most popular sports courses in Chinese colleges and universities, has always been taught in a traditional ball teaching method, which has caused many problems in students' learning effects, such as poor basketball tactics, weaker physical fitness and so on. Therefore, it is imperative to reform the basketball courses in colleges and universities. Accordingly, this paper is aimed to explore the effects of the Teaching Games for Understanding (TGFU) method in basketball courses on male students from the Class of 2023, a university in Shanghai, China, in terms of their basketball tactics and physical fitness. The study sampled 60 students randomly selected from 1850 students who took the optional basketball courses. The selected students were divided into two classes, either with 30 students: the experimental classes taught with the TGFU method and the control class taught with the traditional method. The data were collected from the pre-tests and post-tests of both classes and analyzed by the tool Statistic Package for Social Science (SPSS 24.0). Including the calculation of average values and standard deviation for T-test. It is found that the TGFU adopted in the basketball courses has significantly improved students' basketball tactics and physical fitness, and that this method is advised to apply in college courses for students of all grades.

The traditional points system and subsequent Grade Point Average (GPA) in education perpetuates an evaluation of academic performance which reflects arbitrary weighting of assignments and/or assessments. As such, GPAs which are calculated using a traditional points system are not unidimensional in their design. The baseball batting and slugging percentage, which serves as established metrics for performance evaluations among baseball players, better reflects unidimensionality. In essence, this paper puts forth an analysis and discussion which posits that baseball batting average and slugging percentage can serve as an example for how unidimensionality can become more prevalent in educational assessments, especially as it relates to the traditional points system and GPA.

This reflective piece seeks to shed light on the numerous contributions of Diane Larsen-Freeman to theory construction, applied linguistics, and language education by drawing parallels and insights from the FIFA 2022 Qatar World Cup Final. Looking at the multitude of factors that affect both soccer games and language development research, teaching, and learning, the article explores some of her key publications, chosen for their invitation to us to consider expansive holistic changes that both our research and our language education enterprise badly need. My aim has been to capture some prominent aspects of Diane's unique gifts as a researcher, mentor, thinker, and educator, revealing her lifelong dedication to all these areas and to various fields of language study.

The objective of this study is to develop e-modules for bump pass learning for seventh-grade students. This study identified the problems and needs of students in learning bump pass skills, e-module eligibility and the effect of the e-module on students' bump pass skills. Two groups of seventh grades, two teachers serving as content experts and two media experts participated in this study at State Junior High School 1 Talawi. Five steps were used in conducting this research: analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation. The researchers collected data through questionnaires, interviews, observation, documentation, expert testing and tests. The questionnaire, interview, observation and documentation results were analyzed using an interactive data analysis model. Expert test data were analyzed using the inter-rater agreement model and test result data were analyzed using an independent t-test. There are three findings in this research. First, the reason for the students' difficulties in learning bump passes is their lack of interest in the content found in their textbooks. They need learning media that are interesting and can be accessed through smartphones. Thus, e-modules are a suitable learning medium to solve problems and meet their needs. Second, the developed e-module was confirmed to have high content validity and meet the criteria for good learning materials and media based on the feasibility test results. Third, the e-module has positively and significantly affected students' understanding and bump pass skills. Thus, it is suggested that the module be used for teaching bump pass skills at other schools.

Exercise intervention has been proven helpful to ameliorate core symptoms of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). However, the underlying mechanisms are not fully understood. In this study, we carried out a 12-week mini-basketball training program (MBTP) on ASD children and examined the changes of brain functional and structural networks before and after exercise intervention. We applied individual-based method to construct functional network and structural morphological network, and investigated their alterations following MBTP as well as their associations with the change in core symptom. Structural MRI and resting-state functional MRI data were obtained from 58 ASD children aged 3-12 years (experiment group: n = 32, control group: n = 26). ASD children who received MBTP intervention showed several distinguishable alternations compared to the control without special intervention. These included decreased functional connectivity within the sensorimotor network (SM) and between SM and the salience network, decreased morphological connectivity strength in a cortical-cortical network centered on the left inferior temporal gyrus, and a subcortical--cortical network centered on the left caudate. Particularly, the aforementioned functional and structural changes induced by MBTP were associated with core symptoms of ASD. Our findings suggested that MBTP intervention could be an effective approach to improve core symptoms in ASD children, decrease connectivity in both structure and function networks, and may drive the brain change towards normal-like neuroanatomy.

This paper reports on the first phase of a longitudinal project investigating the perceived purposes that different stakeholders have for primary physical education (PE). In the study, the views of 19 teacher educators from seven countries across Europe were sought. While teacher educators may have some influence across the layers of an education system, little is known about this stakeholder group and their views about primary PE. Analysis of focus group conversations depicts that, while the teacher educators come from a wide range of contexts, their views on the purposes of primary PE were more similar than different. With primary PE in danger of disconnecting into different schools of thought, this finding is important because it suggests that more coherent and connected approaches have the potential to be developed. In line with most government policies from the seven countries, similarities focused on both an educational and outward-looking view of primary PE. Significantly, while the teacher educators recognised the key role of physical learning in primary PE, they also highlighted how children's social, emotional, and cognitive learning form part of an integrated view of primary PE. Teacher educators recognised the importance of primary PE expanding beyond the hall/gymnasium and into classroom, school, and community settings. However, some concerns were voiced about the influence of outsourcing and sport agendas that currently dominate. The views of these teacher educators offer a useful starting point for further investigation, particularly as they present the purposes of primary PE from both an integrated and educational perspective.

Behavioral skills training (BST) has been used to improve football players' performance in one prior study, but limited data were collected on how the skill generalized from the training environment to the natural environment. The purpose of this study was to further evaluate the effects of BST in enhancing football players' performance while also evaluating the generalization of a skill taught in a training environment (i.e., practice) to the natural environment (i.e., game-simulated scrimmage). This study included five high school offensive line football players and recorded their run-blocking skills in the training context and a game context in baseline and following BST. The results showed that BST improved performance in the training environment, with run-blocking skills slightly generalizing from the training environment to game-simulated scrimmages. When BST was conducted in the natural environment, it further improved the participants' run-blocking skills.

This study compared the effects of video feedback (VF) as a stand-alone intervention and video modeling plus video feedback (VMVF) for improving soccer players' static ball control skills. Research has suggested that VF alone and VMVF produce substantial improvements for young athlete's skills, though no studies have compared the two. Therefore, we used a multiple-baseline-across-participants design with embedded alternating treatments to compare VF and VMVF. Two 10-year-old female soccer players and one 9-year-old male soccer player participated. The first author implemented the VF and VMVF training procedures and assessed the same three target behaviors across participants. The results suggested that VF and VMVF produced similar increases in performance for two of three participants and that VMVF produced slightly greater increases for one participant. In addition, both interventions were effective at substantially improving ball control skills from baseline levels and relative to a control skill.

Since 2020, a network of actors and organizations have united in the implementation of education censorship--posing school-wide implications and impositions on the practice of mental health practitioners. States have outlined race and diversity curricula bans, sports and restroom bans, anti-Diversity, Equity and Inclusion legislation, and laws to undermine Social-Emotional Learning. In this paper, we explore the impact of education censorship and anti-Social-Emotional Learning legislation in relation to school mental health. To discuss the responses and advocacy of school mental health practitioners, we provide an overview of education censorship, noting the scope, prevalence, and evolution of topics to explicate a deeper understanding of the legislative action imposed over the last few years. Next, we delineate three non-exhaustive explanations of the legislation: the evolution of education censorship, education governance and corporate curricula control, and the shift to transformative Social-Emotional Learning. To strategize on how to respond to these trends we provide two alternative response pathways, offer implications, and discuss aspects of advocacy, resistance, and action. In conclusion, we provide a discussion to extend each response pathway, providing additional considerations, implications, and outline calls for action.

Internationalization in higher education is essential, and although active learning methodologies are increasing and allow students to develop transversal skills, most still have a very local scope. In this context, the Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) methodology is an interesting approach to benefit the students' development. It consists of an online program that involves creating multicultural teams to develop a specific learning project. Although this methodology is expanding, its use in physiology is still scarce. This paper aims to show an example of applying COIL methodology in physiology topics to enhance higher-education students' innovation and business skills. Our example project developed a sports-assessment service concept focused on physiology and biomechanics assessments. The program involved teams from Brazil, Germany, and Spain, comprising undergraduate and master students. Over 7 weeks, these teams, mentored by professors and researchers, engaged in workshops covering COIL methodology, business model design, executive summary planning, economic analyses, and communication techniques. Key outcomes included learning new concepts, developing soft skills, building confidence in innovative solution proposals, and experiencing diverse cultures. Challenges faced were language barriers, scheduling, task complexity, and logistical issues. This experience confirms the effectiveness of incorporating programs using COIL methodology into educational curriculums. Doing so exposes physiology students to innovation, entrepreneurship, and business creation while strengthening their professional connections and opening up postgraduation opportunities.

Football teams draw the largest crowds of any American collegiate sport, and with them, both positive and negative attention for colleges and universities. Nearly 50 colleges have added the sport recently, but little research has examined the institutional effects of adding a team. Some of these institutions are regional research universities adding the sport as part of broad plans to transform campus identities, while at smaller public and private institutions, adding a football team (with approximately 100 members) appears to be an attempt to boost racial diversity and the number of male students. This study uses difference-in-difference models to find that adding a football team appears to have a significant, but short-term, effect on enrollment and tuition revenue. The long-term effects of adding the sport do not appear to be statistically significant. This raises questions about the costs and benefits of adding football at a time when higher education faces significant challenges attracting students.

Scholars have long questioned the impact of teacher education programmes. Persistent claims are that pre-service teachers have fixed ideas about pedagogy when they enter training and that they become enculturated once in the profession. Within physical education (PE), similar concerns have been raised with respect to ball games. Research suggests that pre-service PE teachers typically have substantial experience of ball sports and find it difficult to implement non-traditional ball games pedagogies when they enter schools. Against this background, the aim of the study is to explore how pre-service teachers recontextualise ball games as pedagogic discourse in their transitions from university to school placement. Bernstein's pedagogic device and pedagogic discourse are employed as the theoretical framework. The investigation focuses on a Swedish PETE programme and the participants are six pre-service teachers. The empirical material consists of written assessments, observations of the pre-service teachers' lessons during school placements, and individual interviews. Findings suggest that the pedagogic discourse of ball games at the university was aligned with course learning outcomes and included the need to communicate goals, adapt and modify teaching, and combine different approaches. The pedagogic discourse at school placement involved traditional ball games, minimal curriculum references, progression in two or three lessons, and inclusive, enjoyable lessons. Factors that regulated the discourse were: familiarity with the pupils; the conceptualizing of inclusive teaching; norms regarding ball games in PE; expectations of the pre-service teachers; and the framing of ball games education in PETE. Recontextualising rules highlight challenges in transitions related to ball games.

This study examined the identity resources available to Black and Brown students who play football across space in their school, and how the resources were used to navigate situations of race, racism and identity. Natural conversations and participant observations detailed experiences, identities, and resistance as they moved through spaces within their school environment. Sociocultural learning theories frame their experiences through composite space narratives. Reframing what constitutes learning, who's considered an educator and what are considered educational spaces is necessary. Findings provide implications for identities being supported across space and the role of football coaches in facilitating learning.

Free throw shooting percentage has averaged around 75% for nearly five decades. However, free throw percentages significantly increased to 79% during the 2020 spectator-less National Basketball Association season. The current study investigated if the elevated free throw shooting percentage observed during the spectator-less season has returned to the 50-year average now that spectators have returned to National Basketball Association arenas. Moreover, home and away free throw percentages were examined to determine if a potential home-field advantage contributed to this phenomenon. Analyses revealed that the free throw shooting percentage from the spectator-less season was significantly higher than the two spectator-filled seasons preceding and following the spectator-less season. Furthermore, the analyses found no differences in free throw percentages between home and away games. While the free throw shooting percentage increased to 79% during the spectator-less season, the free throw shooting percentage returned to the 50-year average (i.e., ~75%), following the spectator-less season. Additionally, it does not appear that a perceived home-field advantage influenced the increased free throw performance observed in the spectator-less season. Multiple factors likely contributed to this free throw phenomenon, including the environmental characteristics shaped by the lack of spectators.

This study evaluated the efficacy of an 8-week (two sessions/week; 60 min/session) adapted soccer intervention on skill performance and retention in 30 adults (18 men and 12 women) ages 17-40 years with autism spectrum disorder, Down syndrome, and intellectual disability. Of these 30 participants, 18 completed a 1-month retention test. The program included behavior supports and adaptations for participants with varying levels of behavioral needs. Dribbling, kicking a moving ball, kicking a stationary ball, throw-ins, trapping, and a composite skill score were examined. Linear mixed-effect regression revealed a significant time main effect with improvements from pretest to posttest and pretest to retention for all skills. In addition, modest offline gains (i.e., posttest < retention) were observed for throw-ins, kicking a moving ball, and the composite skill score. A significant main effect of diagnosis was observed such that participants with autism spectrum disorder had better performance on kicking a moving ball than those with Down syndrome and intellectual disability. Finally, a significant main effect of level of function was observed. This program enabled adults with various disabilities to acquire fundamental soccer skills that may lead to meaningful participation in community soccer programs.

This study was conducted to examine the effect of design thinking on the creative thinking of physical education and sports teacher candidates. The research group of the study, which was created by using the pretest-posttest single-group experimental design, consisted of 14 women and 15 men, who were studying at Ankara University, Faculty of Sport Sciences, Physical Education and Sports Teaching Program and taking the Community Service Practices lesson in the fall semester of the 2022-2023 academic year and it consisted of 29 students in total. As a data collection tool, the "How Much You Have Created Scale" developed by Whetton and Cameron (2002) and adapted into Turkish by Aksoy (2004) and the "Demographic Information Form" prepared by the researchers were used. In this study, the Stanford design thinking model was applied to physical education and sports teacher candidates for 9 weeks in the community service practices lesson. According to the results of the analysis, it was observed that there was a significant change in the pre-test and post-test scores of the physical education and sports teacher candidates from the creative thinking scale after the application. The findings reveal that the design thinking approach is effective in developing the creative thinking of physical education and sports teacher candidates.

In this paper, we present an example of how the selected texts (on the footballer Mo Salah) can potentially be discussed in the university EFL classroom especially (Critical) Discourse Analysis course using Freire's seminal work on Critical Pedagogy (CP). We do it by firstly introducing Freire's concept of CP which includes problem posing education and dialog as elaborated by Durakoglu et al. (2013). Then we move on to highlight the previous works conducted on CP in Indonesian EFL contexts and provide critical analysis of how the particular texts drawn from Anwar's (2020) unpublished thesis on Mo Salah's phenomenal career could be analyzed using Freire's concepts. Closing this reflection, we locate this paper within critical approaches to English Language Teaching such as post-method pedagogy and post-structural and post-colonially informed teaching.

This study aimed to examine the effect of interactive videos on volleyball education, and the effects of gender and grade level on volleyball knowledge level were evaluated. A total of 105 (43 boys and 62 girls) fifth and sixth-grade students participated in the study. Participants were divided into three groups: Interactive Video Group (IVG), Video Group (VG), and Control Group (CG). The volleyball education program consisting of seven videos for two weeks was applied to the experimental groups. Interactive videos include single or multiple-choice questions, true-false statements, and drag and drop activities. ADDIE Model was used in instructional design. Gender has no effect on volleyball knowledge level (p>0.05), but grade level has an effect in favor of sixth graders (p<05). In terms of volleyball knowledge level, there is a difference between the pretest and posttest of IVG and VG (p<0.05) but not in CG (p>0.05). There is a difference in favor of IVG and VG, respectively, in posttest results (p<0.05), but not in pretest results (p>0.05). Interactive videos positively affect volleyball knowledge, so their use in educational environments should be encouraged.

The current study investigated how group members react to favorite and rival brands among sport teams and theme parks. Specifically, fans of sport teams perceptions of favorite and rival brands were compared to that of theme park fans. Results showed that fans of sport teams reported more positivity toward their favorite brands and more negativity toward their rival brands than did fans of theme parks. Additionally, identifying as a fan of both a sport team and theme parks influenced more positive attitudes toward the favorite theme park brand. Finally, the current study places the group member behavior of theme park fans in the Hierarchy of Out-Group Derogation (HOD) and Out-group Derogation Spectrum (ODS) using the Group Behavior Composite (GBC, Havard, Grieve, & Peetz, 2021). Implications for research and practice are discussed, along with future research avenues presented. A version of this study was presented at a previous conference, however with inaccurate data analysis. This presentation will focus on analysis using correct data points and the inclusion of the results in the HOD and ODS.

The purpose of this study is to make a comparison between training culture in the perspective of digital technology and the approach of middle and upper volleyball coaches in Hong Kong and Indonesia to get reflection or feedback, as well as recommendations from the research results obtained for improvement. The quality of coaches in both countries. Comparative study research method with a questionnaire instrument. Data analysis used t test, or different test. The sample used in this study is a purposive sample from the two countries with the subject being a volleyball coach who practices at high school or equivalent. Data analysis was carried out by comparing the average differences in respondents' answers regarding the use of digital technology and training culture and training style between the two countries. The higher the average, the better the culture and style of training in a country. Data normality analysis with Kolmogorov-Smirnov and Homogeneity with Lavene's Test. The research subjects were 85 high school volleyball extracurricular coaches in Indonesia, and 22 coaches from Hong Kong. The findings of the research results Sig.(2-tailed) value (0.038 < 0.05) there is a significant difference between the culture and coaching style of volleyball coaches in Indonesia and coaches in Hong Kong. There are significant differences between culture and coaching styles in the context of digital technology in volleyball practice in Indonesian and Hong Kong high schools.

This study aimed to measure the success of teaching volleyball in the physical education course with the mind map technique. The study employed a quasi-experimental pre-posttest design with an experimental group and a control group. The study was completed with a total of 66 students, including 33 students in the experimental group and 33 in the control group. A pretest was administered to the groups to explore the cognitive and psychomotor skill levels of the students in relevant subjects to be taught. The experimental group was taught using mind maps in 40-min classes every week for 9 weeks, while the control group was taught using conventional teaching methods. At the end of the 9-week period, the tests were administered again. To collect data, a Volleyball Knowledge Test and a Volleyball Skill Test were used. The posttest results showed that the cognitive domain, overhead pass, and bump pass scores of the experimental group were higher. In the comparisons of the cognitive and psychomotor skill levels of the two groups, a statistically significant difference was found in favor of the experimental group in the cognitive and psychomotor domains.

International students often experience difficulties acclimating to campus climates in the United States. While identifying oneself as a fan of college sports has been shown to assist domestic students in their social adjustment to college environments, little is known about the relationship between international students' college sports team identification and their social adjustment. As such, the purpose of this study is to determine the effect of team identification on international students' sense of community and social capital and the conceptual relationship between the sense of community and social capital. Analysis of the hypothesized model with a sample of international students (n = 487) revealed that international students' team identification develops their sense of community and social capital. Implications focused on how the international student office and athletic departments can utilize intercollegiate sports to support international students and assist this population in adapting to campus life in the United States.

This research aims to determine the impact of "Galah Asin" games with parental support on the fundamental movement skills of elementary school students. The sampling technique by dividing the population into two groups: a group that used the Galah Asin game (group I) and a group that used a modified Galah Asin game (group II) in the test of the level of support from the student's parents in carrying out movement activities. Based on test results, each group was ranked, and then 27% from the top were taken as a group with high parental support and 27% from the bottom as a group with low parental support. The method employed in this research was an experimental method with a 2x2 ANOVA design. Based on the results, the modification of the Galah Asin game has no better impact than the Galah Asin game on fundamental movement skills in elementary school students. There is an interaction between the Galah Asin game and parental support of fundamental movement skills in elementary school students. Students with high parental support do not have a better impact on fundamental movement skills than students with low parental support in elementary school students. Galah Asin game modifications have a better impact than Galah Asin games on fundamental movement skills for students with high parental support in elementary school.

This research was carried out at the Sports Science Study Program, Faculty of Sports Science, Medan State University, and the Surrounding Medan Football Association (PSMS). The respondents in this study were ten athletes and four football coaches. The model that will be used is a Four-D (4D) model consisting of four (4) stages, namely, Define (defining), Design (design), Develop (development), and Disseminate (deployment). The results showed that most (> 95%) of respondents needed an E-Book on physical exercise and diet management for football athletes. They agreed that all physical training materials in the indicators mentioned must be in the E-book. The validation results of the material show that the material presented in the e-book is very suitable (3.67) with what is needed today and is ideal for use. The results of validation of the media show that this e-book media is included in the category of very suitable both for the completeness of presentation and the feasibility of graphics and can be used as an electronic medium for football sports. The readability test results received an average assessment of 3.75, meaning that the e-book can be declared very legible and suitable for use. The results of the different tests showed significant differences in the years before and after being given the intervention of physical training and diet E-books for Football Athletes. Athletes' knowledge has increased, with an average knowledge increase score of 19.4 points. Suggestions for future improvement and development of e-books are like adding more exciting images and multiplying case examples.

Background and Aim: In the evolving pedagogical landscape, the Outcome-Based Education (OBE) approach has garnered attention for its student-centric model and clear educational outcomes. University in Shaanxi Province recognizes the need for an integrative basketball teaching model to harmonize with this paradigm shift. This study endeavors to design a basketball teaching model for Xi'an University students, underpinning the OBE concept. Materials and Methods: Employing a combination of interviews, questionnaires, and specialized software packages, data were collected from a population comprising 45 teachers and 5,000 first-year students, with a selected sample of 370 students and 45 teachers. The research process encompassed a thorough examination of the current teaching model, followed by the utilization of the Delphi technique and focus groups to conceptualize the OBE framework for basketball teaching. Results: Analysis revealed the need for a comprehensive basketball teaching model in higher education. The proposed OBE model integrates 4 primary elements (Basketball Theory, Basketball Skills, and Physical, and Social Adaptability), further divided into 12 secondary and 34 tertiary elements. Each segment is tailored to specific outcome objectives, emphasizing cognitive understanding, skill mastery, physical fitness, and social adaptation. Conclusion: The proposed OBE basketball teaching model offers a holistic approach to basketball education, integrating both sport-specific and life-oriented skills. By aligning with China's national development goals and the principles of education, this model stands poised to revolutionize basketball education in Xi'an, setting a benchmark for other provinces.

This study aimed to identify the factors that lead to ineffective practice and the decreasing motivation of junior high school athletes for physical training in preparation for City Meet and EVRAA. To point out the several factors contributing to the problem, the researcher used the Ishikawa diagram. An Ishikawa diagram is a visual representation that graphically depicts the relationships between a certain result and its causes. The studied effect or negative problem is called "the fish head," and the potential causes and sub-causes are called "the fishbone structure." It was found out that people as a factor, in consideration of the student athlete's privileges and incentives, the distance of the practice venue from the school, school service for transportation, availability, and maintenance of sports equipment are some of the causes that might result in a certain problem in introducing and uplifting sports to our students. In conclusion, the concerns that complicate a problem require professional agreement and smart decisions. This, in turn, will lead to a harmonious flow of events and a successful potential athlete that needs to be recognized in a certain field of skills. Motivational aspects largely influence athletes' performance as well.

Sports is a new science that shapes human behavior and spiritual structure through individual or team games, movements, and various competitions, as well as improving individuals physically. In this study, it was aimed to examine the the reflection of school sports team life on their development. The research was a descriptive phenomenological study in qualitative design. A phenomenological study is a research that focuses on what people experience and how they experience what they experience. The population of the research consisted of female athlete students who study in public primary, secondary and high schools within the borders of Kepez District of Antalya province in the 2022-2023 academic year, and the sample of the study consisted of 8 female athlete students studying at primary and secondary school in Aslanlar Secondary School. As a data collection tool, a semi-structured interview form consisting of 5 questions prepared by the researcher and including questions about personal information was used. As a result of the research, it was found that sports team life had many positive benefits for social development, personality development, physical development and academic development.

The purpose of this quantitative correlational study was to examine if and to what extent there is a correlation between athletes' motivational styles (intrinsic, external, identified, introjected, integrated, and amotivated) and the individual performance construct of athletes' satisfaction within a two-year university system in the Western United States. The theoretical framework for assessing the correlation between athletes' motivational styles and satisfaction is self-determination theory (SDT). Six research questions addressed correlations between athletes' motivational styles of intrinsic, external, identified, introjected, integrated, and amotivated, and the individual performance construct of athletes' satisfaction. The sample included 28 university student-athletes who play team sports within a two-year university system in the Western United States. The dataset included Sport Motivation Scale (SMS-II) and Athlete Satisfaction Questionnaire (ASQ) instruments, which collected data within a single online system: Survey Hero. Due to COVID-19, the research study site was shut prematurely. Therefore, a low number of responses was collected from participants. A Kendall's tau-b correlational analysis showed significant evidence to accept the null hypothesis and conclude there was no association between intrinsic tb = 0.262, external tb = -0.012, identified tb = 0.114, introjected tb = 0.23, integrated tb = 0.068, and amotivated tb = 0.075 motivation and athletes' satisfaction (M = 14.89; SD = 4.59). A post hoc analysis was then performed on each research question and concluded that there is at least a 90.7% chance of committing a type II error. The results may not fit the general population across other states.

This study's objectives were to develop the English vocabulary manual for football enthusiasts, evaluate the characteristics, qualities, and usability factors contributing to users' satisfaction with the developed manual, and investigate its effectiveness in improving their football skills and overall performance on the field. The data was collected from 40 participants, divided into two groups: 20 undergraduate students and 20 football enthusiasts, employing the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test quantitative analysis and a theme-based qualitative analysis. Responses were initially gathered in Thai and subsequently translated into English. Findings indicate that the manual significantly enhanced users' understanding of football terminology, influencing their confidence and gameplay. Users particularly appreciated the manual's comprehensive coverage, categorised into Apparel, Gameplay, Judging, and Positions. Besides, users reported noticeable overall performance and communication improvements during football matches. When juxtaposed with existing literature, the results resonate with previous studies on specialised language acquisition and sports education. The study concludes that the vocabulary manual is a valuable resource for learners and football enthusiasts, meeting and often exceeding expectations in its usability and effectiveness. Recommendations for pedagogical implementations and avenues for further research are discussed.

This research aims to examine the fanaticism levels of university students in Kilis and its surrounding provinces in terms of sports literacy and some variables. The population of the research consists of approximately 120,000 students studying at 6 different universities in Kilis and its surrounding five provinces (Gaziantep, Hatay, Adiyaman, Osmaniye, Kahramanmaras) in the south of Turkey. The sample of the study consists of a total of 480 students, 176 female and 304 male, randomly selected among the students studying at universities in Kilis and surrounding provinces in the 2022-2023 education period. A personal information form was used to collect information about the independent variables. The "Football Fans Fanaticism Scale" (FFFS), which was prepared by Tasmektepligil et al. (2015) was used as a data collection tool for the scale of the fanaticism levels of the students. While evaluating the findings obtained in the study, SPSS 25 was used for statistical analysis. While evaluating the study data, descriptive statistical methods were used. Independent sample T-Test and ANOVA Test were used in the analysis of the data. In the analyses, the level of significance was determined as p<0.05. In the findings, it was determined that while there was a significant difference according to the age variable of the participants, the type of following the competitions and the gender variable, there was no significant difference on the fanaticism scale scores in terms of the variables of using licensed products and the team being supported. It was concluded that male individuals are more fanatical than females. Another conclusion is that the younger students were more fanatical than the older students. It has been found that those who follow the matches of the team support from stadiums and all channels have higher levels of fanaticism.

This research aimed to examine the value perceptions and attitudes of secondary school students towards physical education and sports lessons. The research, which was designed in a quasi-experimental model with a pretest-posttest control group, was conducted with 91 7th-grade students in the second semester of the 2020-2021 academic year. The students were divided into 4 groups according to the course content applied in the physical education lesson: "Sports Education Model (SEM)," "Physical Activity Card (PAC)," "Traditional Children's Games (TCG)" and "Control Group (CG)." Physical education lessons were carried out with the groups for 10 weeks. The data were collected using the mixed method explanatory sequential design approach. "Physical Education and Sports Lesson Values Education Scale" and "Physical Education and Sports Attitude Scale" were used to collect quantitative data. In the analysis of the data, arithmetic means, correlation, Wilcoxon, Mann Whitney U, and Kruskal Wallis analyzes were performed. Qualitative data, on the other hand, were collected through lesson observations and focus group interviews and analyzed by content analysis. According to the research findings, there has been an increase in secondary school students' physical education lesson value perceptions and attitudes. The most developed value of the students was friendship, followed by self-control, helpfulness, justice, and responsibility, respectively. The students in the TCG and SEM groups showed more improvement in their helpfulness, friendship, and general value perception. Those in the TCG group improved more in responsibility and self-control than the CG and PAC groups. Physical education lesson attitudes of SEM, PAC, and TCG group students improved more than CG students. While there was a development in favor of males in self-control value, no significant difference was found in other values dimensions and course attitudes according to gender. A positive moderate relationship was found between students' value perceptions and course attitudes. In the focus group interview, the students in different groups interpreted the research findings in different ways. As a result of the research, TCG and SEM were at the forefront in the development of students' value perception, and PAC and TCG in the development of course attitudes. Based on these results, it is recommended that teachers teach lessons with different models, methods, and course materials.

Ample of knowledge leads to positive attitude. Knowledge is an important tool that promotes attitude changes. Knowledge and Attitude of students towards safety is important because action of a person depends on believe. Unsafe actions of students are caused most of injuries and harms. It is important to minimize such harms by knowledge. Present study was conducted to find out the relationship between safety knowledge and attitude of students towards their safety. Study was quantitative in nature and researchers applied correlational research design. Sample of the study consisted of eighty-nine grade three students enrolled in government schools. Data were collected by self-constructed knowledge test for safety having 50 items and attitude scale for safety having 40 items mode of 5-point Likert type options. Content validity of self-constructed instruments was ensured from experts and Cronbach's Alpha reliability was censured in SPSS. Researchers personally collected data from respondents after ensuring ethical consideration prior to collect data. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics and Pearson coefficient of correlation. The major findings of the study indicate that body safety, road safety, food safety, Internet safety, sports safety and fire safety knowledge strengthen the attitude towards safety. The results indicated that there was statistically significant relationship between knowledge and attitude about safety. On the basis of results, it is recommended that existing safety knowledge and attitude should be strengthening in school students in addition to their conventional education. Further researches may include research with male and female students at elementary and secondary level.

Current study aimed to examine Erzurum Technical University Faculty of Sport Sciences students' sports competence levels and self-efficacy levels according to various variables. A total of 116 students, fifty four female, and sixty two male, participated in the study, in which the quantitative research model was used. In the first part, the Personal Information Form was used to determine the demographic characteristics of the participants, the second part used the Self-Efficacy Attitude Scale, and the third part used the Competence in Sports Scale. Frequency analysis, kurtosis, skewness test, One-Way ANOVA analysis, t-test, and correlation analysis were used in the research. A positive and moderately significant relationship was found between the Self-Efficacy Attitude Scale and the Competence in Sports Scale. According to gender, it was determined that male students' competence in sports was significantly higher than female students' sports competence. According to the branch variable, it was determined that the self-efficacy status of the students who do individual sports is significantly higher than the self-efficacy status of the students who do team sports and who do not have a branch. In addition, according to the age variable, no significant relationship was found between the competence status of the students in sports and their self-efficacy attitudes. As a result, it can be said that male students have higher proficiency in sports than female students, and they feel more competent. It has been determined that the self-efficacy attitudes of the students who do individual sports are higher than those who do team sports.

This study aims to determine the future expectation of university students studying in the field of sports sciences and to examine how it affects their attitudes toward brain migration. The "Brain Migration Scale", developed by Öncü et al. (2018), was used to evaluate the attitude toward brain migration, and the "Future Expectation Scale", developed by Simsek (2012), was used to measure the future expectation of the students. The approval of the ethics committee was obtained for the study. This program data was collected by applying Sports in different universities with Sports Management program in Istanbul. 299 students responded to the survey questions via the google form link. The data were analyzed with SPSS 25.0 package program. It was determined that the data showed normal distribution. Multiple regression analysis and Pearson Product-Moment correlation tests were applied to the research data. According to the results of the research, it was found that there are significant and positive relationships between the participants' attitudes towards brain migration and their personal and professional future expectations, educational, economic, and total future expectations. On the other hand, it has been determined that there is no significant relationship between students' attitudes toward brain migration and their expectations for a social future. When looking at the impact force, it was seen that students' economic future expectation was more effective in predicting the attitude toward brain migration than their future expectation of education. In this context, it is important to ensure economic stability and improve working conditions in our country.

Concussions are a common occurrence in adolescent sports. While scholarly literature has documented concussion symptoms and their implications, intrinsic and extrinsic factors that may contribute to an athlete's decision to return to play (RTP) following concussion have received less attention. The purpose of this study was to investigate the lived experiences of former youth female soccer players' and their RTP decisions after sustaining a concussion. Eight former female youth soccer players who had sustained at least one concussion during youth soccer completed semi-structured interviews regarding their attitudes, intentions, social influences, and personal beliefs regarding concussion. Data analysis yielded three interrelated themes: "males are taken more seriously when they are injured:" gender and concussion attitudes; "I didn't want to seem like a baby": extrinsic factors that influence RTP; and "the biggest pressure was probably from myself more than anyone else": intrinsic factors that influence RTP. Findings illustrate the impact that attitude, team norms, and self-identity have when female youth athletes consider decisions regarding concussion reporting and RTP. Extended TPB is a useful framework to guide stakeholders and female youth soccer players themselves toward a more holistic approach to concussion education.

Objective: To explore diverse stakeholders' perceptions of headgear use in collegiate women's lacrosse. Participants: 189 collegiate women's lacrosse stakeholders (players: n = 87; coaches: n = 71; officials: n = 32). Methods: Participants completed online open-ended qualitative questions surrounding headgear use in the sport. Responses were coded by the research team via inductive reasoning. Results: Stakeholders felt that incorporating headgear use into women's lacrosse would "increase aggression" and "change the nature of the sport." Some felt that headgear was important for "injury risk mitigation" and invoked a need for "research and development." Stakeholders raised the need for "coaching and officiating improvement" as primary injury prevention measures. Players were concerned about "esthetics and performance limitations." Finally, many felt that it should be left to "player choice" to wear headgear or not. Conclusion: Most stakeholders invoke concerns of risk compensation and changing the nature of the sport of women's lacrosse, and are in favor of headgear remaining optional.

Among the body's mechanical systems that contribute to anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries, hamstrings, quadriceps, and knee flexor muscles are the most prominent components. A strength imbalance to any of these muscles can cause damage to ACL-associated ligaments (Takahashi et al., 2019). To reduce the incidence of such injuries, it is critical to implement strategies that focus on strengthening these muscles evenly and increase the overall balance, flexibility, and strength of basketball players. This article will share a few exercises that can strengthen ACL-associated muscles and can be easily implemented in a typical high school training session. To increase the effectiveness of these exercises, it is recommended to use therabands.

Beach volleyball has been one of the fastest-growing sports over the past 30 years, and its growing popularity has caused schools to see the benefits of adding beach volleyball to their physical education curriculum. As physical education curriculums continue to evolve, there is a need for new and exciting games, activities, and sports, including beach volleyball, to help better engage student participation and physical fitness. This article will share modified instructional ideas for teaching beach volleyball to 6-12 grade students. The article includes drills, lead-up games, and game modifications for beach volleyball.

COVID-19 posed little danger to children. Nevertheless, the South African government imposed lockdown measures that impeded children's education, play and food. Schools were closed, feeding schemes were halted and organised sports were banned. In this study of South African children's experience during the 2020-22 pandemic, we use the capabilities approach, particularly Nussbaum's ten capabilities, to assess how the lockdown measures affected their development. The one-dimensional nature of the government response was evident in its focus on physical health and safeguarding adults and the health system, at the expense of children's well-being. Children were masked and their voices were not heard. Despite being far less at risk of illness or death than adults, children and young people were disproportionately affected by government regulations. Children from low-income environments were particularly severely affected.

Pitching velocity is a crucial factor in effective baseball pitching performance. Upper-body-focused training is prevalent in baseball training to increase pitching velocity. However, significant pitchers, including youth league baseball players, suffer from upper body injuries due to the heavy training load of the throwing arm. This article emphasizes lower-body training to increase baseball pitching velocity. Three step-by-step recommended activities, with accompanying research support, include power training in the lower limbs, exploring and maintaining optimized stride length, and timing and mechanics of pitching sequences. The suggested lower body focused training will be beneficial in increasing pitching velocity and reducing the risk of injuries in the throwing arm. These recommendations are crucial for young baseball players, youth baseball coaches, strength coaches, and parents who aim to improve pitching performance while addressing concerns about overtraining and injury prevention.

Psychology-based research has been a characteristic of empirical inquiry in sport coaching for over 50 years, and cognitive function is widely accepted as a fundamental component of sport coaching expertise. Within the academic literature, much empirical research on coaches' cognitions has tended to adopt retrospective approaches, such as postsession interviews or stimulated recall, thus capturing participant recall after the incident, training session, or competition. Methods such as these that rely on participants' retrospective recall are prone to memory decay, reordering of accounts, and confirmation bias. The aim of this research was to collect a different type of data to what is generated with retrospective approaches and, rather, capture coaching cognitions in situ using think aloud protocol. The data captured were broken down into meaning units and analyzed using a reflexive thematic analysis. Situated in the practice of six experienced rugby coaches, findings revealed that think aloud protocol generated rich data. However, engaging think aloud protocol was problematic as the site of inquiry was confounded by multiple social interactions and required coaches to provide frequent instruction and feedback. The interaction between cognition and action is conceptualized by the tentative offering of a conceptual model that includes cognitive triggers and thresholds. The implications of these findings can help academics and coach developers to understand the complexity of capturing coaches' in situ thinking within dynamic social environments.
