Abstract

Nowadays the strategic role of international organizations, which manage and provide information systems and library services in the agricultural domain, is universally recognized. This paper focuses on the origin of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) by presenting a critical edition of the Rapport by Paul Otlet to the marquis Cappelli, président de l'Institut International d'Agricolture (Otlet, 1911) that includes original documents and outlines the first steps taken by the International Institute of Agriculture (IIA), founded in Rome in 1905. The critical edition starts from the original report, preserved in the archival funds of David Lubin, owned by FAO archive and is a collation of IIA's memorandums preserved in the National Library of Rome, and the copious correspondence, between Otlet and Oscar Bolle, the delegate of Belgium, courteously made available by the Mundaneum.

Il presente documento, ha l'obiettivo di definire le specifiche tecniche da seguire per l'implementazione di un servizio di classificazione semiautomatica delle risorse digitali che sia di supporto alla gestione della rassegna stampa di Barilla Group e trattate in un ambiente software sviluppato da Cosmic Blue Team Spa (CBT). Il prodotto finale sarà una black box che andrà ad integrare la funzione di classificazione semiautomatica del tool di CBT il quale dovrà comunicare, nel processo di elaborazione della singola risorsa, con il sottosistema di classificazione automatica dei documenti denominato Cl.Au.D.IO (CLassificazione AUtomatica dei Documenti Informatici), versione 2.0 il quale proporrà, per ognuno dei documenti in ingresso, le classi di appartenenza.

Abstract

During the last few years, improvements in Renewable Sources to Building Construction, contributed to intensify the terminological problem, where are evident a high level of heterogeneity, and the lack of a standardized and unambiguous vocabulary/classification system. This is due to many factors, such as building techniques and working tools evolution, technical law evolution in Italy and in Europe. In this paper we want to focus on the Italian context, proposing a methodology to face this problem, which is based on the creation of a specialist lexicon and a Faceted Thesaurus for the specific domain. These will allow to organize and structure the domain of sustainable construction and energetic saving, and to improve access to up-to-date and unambiguous information in a web-based environment

Abstract

The rebuilding of the N family, a large Italian kindred affected by early-onset autosomal dominant Alzheimer's disease (AD), provided an important contribution to the discovery of Presenilin 1 (PSEN1), the main gene responsible for familial AD. This pedigree was identified with the help of medical records from the archives of the Psychiatric Hospital of Girifalco, Italy. The clinical record of Angela R., an ancestor of the N family, dating back to 1904, showed a clinical picture of Angela R., consistent with a diagnosis of non-amnestic probable AD, matching the "dysexecutive" phenotype described in her descendants. The a posteriori diagnosis of AD is supported by the evidence of the causative genetic mutation PSEN1-Met146Leu as well as neuropathological AD features in her genealogically proven descendants. The clinical case of Angela R. was recorded at the same time of Alzheimer's description of Auguste D. Its discovery crucially contributed to the genealogical reconstruction of the N family, linking came from different branches, which until then were unrelated, to the same kindred. The archives of the Girifalco Hospital represented a valuable source of medical and historical information and were essential to the research on Italian-American AD families that finally led to the identification of new genes.
