Background: Artificial intelligence is an innovative technology that mimics human cognitive capacities and has gathered the world's attention through its vast applications in various fields. Aim: This study is aimed at assessing the effects of ChatGPT 3.5 and ChatGPT 4 on the validity, reliability, and authenticity of standard assessment techniques used in undergraduate dentistry education. Methodology: Twenty questions, each requiring a single best answer, were selected from two domains: 10 from operative dentistry and 10 from endodontics. These questions were divided equally, with half presented with multiple choice options and the other half without. Two investigators used different ChatGPT accounts to generate answers, repeating each question three times. The answers were scored between 0% and 100% based on their accuracy. The mean score of the three attempts was recorded, and statistical analysis was conducted. Results: No statistically significant differences were found between ChatGPT 3.5 and ChatGPT 4 in the accuracy of their responses. Additionally, the analysis showed high consistency between the two reviewers, with no significant difference in their assessments. Conclusion: This study evaluated the performance of ChatGPT 3.5 and ChatGPT 4 in answering questions related to endodontics and operative dentistry. The results showed no statistically significant differences between the two versions, indicating comparable response accuracy. Psoriasis is one of the most frequent chronic inflammatory skin diseases and exerts a significant psychological impact, causing stigmatization, low self-esteem and depression. The pathogenesis of psoriasis is remarkably complex, involving genetic, immune and environmental factors, some of which are still incompletely explored. The cutaneous microbiome has become more and more important in the pathogenesis of inflammatory skin diseases such as acne, rosacea, atopic dermatitis and psoriasis. Dysbiosis of the skin microbiome could be linked to acute flare ups in psoriatic disease, as recent studies suggest. Given this hypothesis, we conducted a study in which we evaluated the cutaneous microbiome of psoriasis patients and healthy individuals. In our study, we collected multiple samples using swab sampling, adhesive tape and punch biopsies. Our results are similar to other studies in which the qualitative and quantitative changes found in the cutaneous microbiome of psoriasis patients are different than healthy individuals. Larger, standardized studies are needed in order to elucidate the microbiome changes in psoriasis patients, clarify their role in the pathogenesis of psoriasis, decipher the interactions between the commensal microorganisms of the same and different niches and between microbiomes and the host and identify new therapeutic strategies. Background: Primary hyperhidrosis (PH) is a somatic and idiopathic pediatric skin disease. The eccrine glands are tiny and very numerous, with approximately 3 million distributed throughout the skin. There is no commonly accepted amount of sweating to define hyperhidrosis, but people with this disease suffer real limitations integrating into society, which can be quantified through quality of life measurement scales. We want to draw attention to this disease and its impact on children's quality of life because it is significant and there are no studies conducted on groups consisting solely of children. Methods: There are various quality of life evaluation questionnaires for hyperhidrosis. We studied 103 children with hyperhidrosis by monitoring their sweat severity and its impact on quality of life, using the Hyperhidrosis Disease Severity Scale. We compared the scale results before and after 10 days of iontophoresis. This study includes only children under 18 years old, treated with iontophoresis. Results: The average age of the group is 11.84 ± 2.89 years. Treatment success is recorded in 68 (66.02%) children, but a change in the score is recorded in 74 (71.84%) children. The average HDSS score at T0 is 2.95 ± 0.70, compared to the HDSS score at T1 of 1.92 ± 0.86. Conclusions: Hyperhidrosis has a negative impact on daily life, especially self-esteem, occupational productivity, emotional well-being, and interpersonal relationships. Iontophoresis is a safe and effective treatment method that reduces the severity of hyperhidrosis and increases the quality of life. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Psoriasis is a common chronic inflammatory skin disease, associated with significant morbidity and a considerable negative impact on the patients' quality of life. The complex pathogenesis of psoriasis is still incompletely understood. Genetic predisposition, environmental factors like smoking, alcohol consumption, psychological stress, consumption of certain drugs, and mechanical trauma, as well as specific immune dysfunctions, contribute to the onset of the disease. Mounting evidence indicate that skin dysbiosis plays a significant role in the development and exacerbation of psoriasis through loss of immune tolerance to commensal skin flora, an altered balance between Tregs and effector cells, and an excessive Th1 and Th17 polarization. While the implications of skin dysbiosis in psoriasis pathogenesis are only starting to be revealed, the progress in the characterization of the skin microbiome changes in psoriasis patients has opened a whole new avenue of research focusing on the modulation of the skin microbiome as an adjuvant treatment for psoriasis and as part of a long-term plan to prevent disease flares. The skin microbiome may also represent a valuable predictive marker of treatment response and may aid in the selection of the optimal personalized treatment. We present the current knowledge on the skin microbiome changes in psoriasis and the results of the studies that investigated the efficacy of the different skin microbiome modulation strategies in the management of psoriasis, and discuss the complex interaction between the host and skin commensal flora. Introduction: This study was carried out to demonstrate the negative influence that the COVID-19 pandemic had on the ability of patients to treat hyperhidrosis with iontophoresis. The purpose of this study is to identify the annual distribution of patients with hyperhidrosis as well as elaborate a curve of cases within the time interval studied. Methods: It is a retrospective study initiated in the Department of Neuropsychomotor Rehabilitation of the "Sf. Ioan" Emergency Clinical Hospital for Children, Galati, Romania, in which we analyzed the electronic database, the treatment, and the consultation files of all the children who presented between January 2013 and December 2023. We found 111 patients who met the inclusion criteria. Results: During the 3 years of the pandemic, the number of patients who came to our clinic suddenly dropped to 0. Limitations: This study was conducted on a relatively small number of patients in a Neuropsychomotor Recovery clinic. This study includes only patients with palmar and/or plantar hyperhidrosis who presented to the clinic for iontophoresis. Conclusion: Although it is a disease that significantly influences the quality of life, patients and their families do not consider hyperhidrosis to be an urgent problem that can be improved by treatment. Chronic varicose veins disease is widespread worldwide (up to 60% in the adult population), with a significant impact on patients' quality of life and a high cost to society, both due to treatment and the limitation of physical activity imposed by the disease. This article presents a retrospective study on a number of 14 patients treated in Arestetic Clinic in Galati, for a period of one year. The patients included in the study presented reticular and varicose veins up to 6 mm in diameter and under 14 mm on the saphenous vein. Patients completed the Aberdeen Varicose Disease Questionnaire (excluding the first part of the questionnaire) and the Venous Clinical Severity Score was used by the physician. Doppler ultrasound was used for preoperative evaluation and postoperative monitoring. Polidocanol was administered in concentrations of 0.5% and 2%, with the patients being monitored one year after treatment. All patients were declared satisfied with the results and 1 year after treatment no recurrences were found. Polidocanol sclerotherapy is a safe, easy-to-administer, low-cost treatment with no healing time and can be administered multiple times if needed, with minimal risks of complications. Aesthetic results are good, with an important symptom remission rate and high patient satisfaction. Complications were rare and minor (represented by local hyperpigmentation and hardening of the injected path), and the recurrence rate is comparable to surgical treatment. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Demodex represents the most frequent ectoparasite found in humans. Although Demodex mites are considered commensals of human pilosebaceous units, an abnormally high mite density can cause several ocular and cutaneous symptoms and signs, sometimes to a severe degree. Both Demodex spp. (folliculorum and brevis) play a significant part in eye pathology and facial dermatoses. These mites have been related to blepharitis, ocular rosacea, meibomian gland dysfunction and various skin diseases, including rosacea, demodicosis and seborrheic dermatitis. Understanding the importance of Demodex in both eye and skin conditions is crucial for accurate diagnosis and appropriate management strategies, which may involve targeted treatments to control the mite population and reduce associated symptoms. Background/Objectives: The newly emergent COVID-19 pandemic involved primarily the respiratory system and had also major cardiovascular system (CVS) implications, revealed by acute myocardial infarction (AMI), arrhythmias, myocardial injury, and thromboembolism. CVS involvement is done through main mechanisms—direct and indirect heart muscle injury, with high mortality rates, worse short-term outcomes, and severe complications. AMI is the echo of myocardial injury (revealed by increases in CK, CK-MB, and troponin serum markers—which are taken into consideration as possible COVID-19 risk stratification markers). When studying myocardial injury, physicians can make use of imaging studies, such as cardiac MRI, transthoracic (or transesophageal) echocardiography, coronary angiography, cardiac computed tomography, and nuclear imaging (which have been used in cases where angiography was not possible), or even endomyocardial biopsy (which is not always available or feasible). Two-case-series presentations: We present the cases of two COVID-19 positive male patients who were admitted into the Clinical Department of Cardiology in "Sfântul Apostol Andrei" Emergency Clinical Hospital of Galați (Romania), who presented with acute cardiac distress symptoms and have been diagnosed with ST elevation AMI. The patients were 82 and 57 years old, respectively, with moderate and severe forms of COVID-19, and were diagnosed with anteroseptal left ventricular AMI and extensive anterior transmural left ventricular AMI (with ventricular fibrillation at presentation), respectively. The first patient was a non-smoker and non-drinker with no associated comorbidities, and was later discharged, while the second one died due to AMI complications. Conclusions: From this two-case series, we extract the following: old age alone is not a significant risk factor for adverse outcomes in COVID-19-related CVS events, and that the cumulative effects of several patient-associated risk factors (be it either for severe forms of COVID-19 and/or acute cardiac injury) will most probably lead to poor patient prognosis (death). At the same time, serum cardiac enzymes, dynamic ECG changes, along with newly developed echocardiographic modifications are indicators for poor prognosis in acute cardiac injury in COVID-19 patients with acute myocardial injury, regardless of the presence of right ventricular dysfunction (due to pulmonary hypertension). The predominant areas of occurrence are hands, feet, head and armpits, and it affects both men and women equally, with a false impression of increased prevalence in women. This study aims to determine the incidence of cases of hyperhidrosis, the gender of the patients and the environment of origin and to identify the most affected age groups and the distribution of hyperhidrosis, as well as creating a curve of cases within the time interval studied and their comparison with those in the specialized literature.
