2. Long Term Energy Performances of Small Thin Film PV Tile Plants

Abstract

27th European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition; 3922-3925, ENEA in collaboration with KANEKA is continuing a survey of a-Si based thin film modules PV plants in order to test and compare their operational performance over long time of exposure. Two plants of about 1 kWp have been monitored, in detail an amorphous a-Si modules (named ASI) plant is under test since 2002, while a micromorph a-Si/μc-Si modules (named HB) one since 2006. The aim is to evaluate the reliability of the PV modules. Both the energy conversion efficiency over long working periods and the performances under hard marine environment conditions are parameters under investigation. A quantitative analysis based on collected data is carried out to evaluate the PV arrays degradation rates.

Abstract

25th European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition / 5th World Conference on Photovoltaic Energy Conversion, 6-10 September 2010, Valencia, Spain; 4261-4264, The continuous monitoring carried out by ENEA in collaboration with KANEKA about the performance of thin film based tile modules has been updated adding some other years of in situ observations. The objective of the research is to evaluate first of all the reliability of the modules efficiency in terms of capacity to keep the energy conversion efficiency over long periods and then to test the behaviour of the modules that have been subjected to the hard marine environment conditions (temperature, corrosion etc.). Two plants of about 1 kWp have been monitoring: the first a-Si single junction modules in operation since June 2002; the second hybrid a-Si/μc-Si modules plant active since January 2006. Data collected after a long term of continuous monitoring are shown and discussed.

Abstract

An increasing number of patients with lung cancer are undergoing outpatient chemotherapy. It is very important to maintain good quality of life(QOL)for these patients, and Japanese traditional medicine, TJ-41, has been reported to improve the QOL of patients with advanced cancer. However, the effect of TJ-41 on patients with lung cancer undergoing outpatient chemotherapy is unknown. Therefore, we conducted this study. To investigate the factors influencing the QOL of these patients, we distributed a QOL questionaire,"The QOL Questionnaire for Cancer Patients Treated with Anticancer Drugs"(QOL-ACD)to 11 patients with non-small cell lung cancer. The medical factors related to the overall QOL scores and other categories, indicating"activity","physical condition","psychological condition","social relationships","psychological condition"and"face scale"were analyzed. A significant decrease in each of the factors was not observed in this study.

Abstract

A 77-year-old man was admitted to our hospital complaining of general malaise, loss of appetite and hemoptysis. Chest X-ray film and computed tomography (CT) scan showed right-sided pleural effusion with lung tumor. Succeeding upper gastro-intestinal fiberscopy and cystoscopy revealed poorly-differentiated adenocarcinoma of the stomach and urothelial carcinoma of the bladder. Repeated treatment with 100 mg/body of S-1 on day 1 followed by 60 mg/m(2) of cisplatin on day 8 was effective in this patient.
