1. Dust ring and gap formation by gas flow induced by low-mass planets embedded in protoplanetary disks $\rm II$. Time-dependent model

Abstract: The observed dust rings and gaps in protoplanetary disks could be imprints of forming planets. Even low-mass planets in the one-to-ten Earth-mass regime, that do not yet carve deep gas gaps, can generate such dust rings and gaps by driving a radially-outwards gas flow, as shown in previous work. However, understanding the creation and evolution of these dust structures is challenging due to dust drift and diffusion, requiring an approach beyond previous steady state models. Here we investigate the time evolution of the dust surface density influenced by the planet-induced gas flow, based on post-processing three-dimensional hydrodynamical simulations. We find that planets larger than a dimensionless thermal mass of $m=0.05$, corresponding to 0.3 Earth mass at 1 au or 1.7 Earth masses at 10 au, generate dust rings and gaps, provided that solids have small Stokes numbers} (${\rm St}\lesssim10^{-2}$) and that the disk midplane is weakly turbulent ($\alpha_{\rm diff}\lesssim10^{-4}$). As dust particles pile up outside the orbit of the planet, the interior gap expands with time, when the advective flux dominates over diffusion. Dust gap depths range from a factor a few, to several orders of magnitude, depending on planet mass and the level of midplane particle diffusion. We construct a semi-analytic model describing the width of the dust ring and gap, and then compare it with the observational data. We find that up to 65\% of the observed wide-orbit gaps could be explained as resulting from the presence of a low-mass planet, assuming $\alpha_{\rm diff}=10^{-5}$ and ${\rm St}=10^{-3}$. However, it is more challenging to explain the observed wide rings, which in our model would require the presence of a population of small particles (${\rm St=10^{-4}}$). Abstract: We show that a generic tensor $T\in \mathbb{F}^{n\times n\times \dots\times n}$ of order $k$ and CP rank $d$ can be uniquely recovered from $n\log n+dn\log \log n +o(n\log \log n) $ uniformly random entries with high probability if $d$ and $k$ are constant and $\mathbb{F}\in \{\mathbb{R},\mathbb{C}\}$. The bound is tight up to the coefficient of the second leading term and improves on the existing $O(n^{\frac{k}{2}}{\rm polylog}(n))$ upper bound for order $k$ tensors. The bound is obtained by showing that the projection of the Segre variety to a random axis-parallel linear subspace preserves $d$-identifiability with high probability if the dimension of the subspace is $n\log n+dn\log \log n +o(n\log \log n) $ and $n$ is sufficiently large.

Abstract: The Super-Kamiokande and T2K collaborations present a joint measurement of neutrino oscillation parameters from their atmospheric and beam neutrino data. It uses a common interaction model for events overlapping in neutrino energy and correlated detector systematic uncertainties between the two datasets, which are found to be compatible. Using 3244.4 days of atmospheric data and a beam exposure of $19.7(16.3) \times 10^{20}$ protons on target in (anti)neutrino mode, the analysis finds a 1.9$\sigma$ exclusion of CP-conservation (defined as $J_{CP}=0$) and a preference for the normal mass ordering., Comment: 12 pages, 4 figures

5. Delivery of Dust Particles from Protoplanetary Disks onto Circumplanetary Disks of Giant Planets

Abstract: Principal regular satellites of gas giants are thought to be formed by the accumulation of solid materials in circumplanetary disks (CPDs). While there has been significant progress in the study of satellite formation in CPDs, details of the supply of satellite building blocks to CPDs remain unclear. We performed orbital integration of solid particles in the protoplanetary disk (PPD) approaching a planet, considering the gas drag force using the results of three-dimensional hydrodynamical simulations of a local region around the planet. We investigated planetary-mass dependence of the capture positions and capture rates of dust particles accreting onto the CPD. We also examined the degree of dust retention in accreting gas onto the CPD, which is important for determining the ratio of dust-to-gas inflow rates, a key parameter in satellite formation. We found that the degree of dust retention increases with increasing planetary mass for a given dust scale height in the PPD. In the case of a small planet ($M_{\rm p}=0.2M_{\rm Jup}$), most particles with insufficient initial altitudes in the PPD are isolated from the gas in the accreting region. On the other hand, in the case of a massive planet ($M_{\rm p}=1M_{\rm Jup}$), dust particles can be coupled to the vertically accreting gas, even when the dust scale height is about $10-30$\% of the gas scale height. 6. Forced Symmetric Formation Control

Abstract: This work considers the distance constrained formation control problem with an additional constraint requiring that the formation exhibits a specified spatial symmetry. We employ recent results from the theory of symmetry-forced rigidity to construct an appropriate potential function that leads to a gradient dynamical system driving the agents to the desired formation. We show that only $(1+1/|\Gamma|)n$ edges are sufficient to implement the control strategy when there are $n$ agents and the underlying symmetry group is $\Gamma$. This number is considerably smaller than what is typically required from classic rigidity-theory based strategies ($2n-3$ edges). We also provide an augmented control strategy that ensures the agents can converge to a formation with respect to an arbitrary centroid. Abstract: We report a measurement of decay-time dependent charge-parity ($CP$) asymmetries in $B^0 \rightarrow K^0_S K^0_S K^0_S$ decays. We use $387 \times 10^6 B\bar{B}$ pairs collected at the $\Upsilon(4S)$ resonance with the Belle II detector at the SuperKEKB asymmetric-energy electron-positron collider. We reconstruct 220 signal events and extract the $CP$-violating parameters $S$ and $C$ from a fit to the distribution of the decay-time difference between the two $B$ mesons. The resulting confidence region is consistent with previous measurements in $B^0 \rightarrow K^0_S K^0_S K^0_S$ and $B^0 \rightarrow (c\bar{c})K^0$ decays, and with predictions based on the standard model., Comment: 10 pages, 5 figures

10. Generic Global Rigidity in $\ell_p$-Space and the Identifiability of the $p$-Cayley-Menger Varieties

Abstract: The celebrated result of Gortler-Healy-Thurston (independently, Jackson-Jord\'an for $d=2$) shows that the global rigidity of graphs realised in the $d$-dimensional Euclidean space is a generic property. Extending this result to the global rigidity problem in $\ell_p$-spaces remains an open problem. In this paper we affirmatively solve this problem when $d=2$ and $p$ is an even positive integer. A key tool in our proof is a sufficient condition for the $d$-tangentially weakly non-defectiveness of projective varieties due to Bocci, Chiantini, Ottaviani, and Vannieuwenhoven. By specialising the condition to the $p$-Cayley-Menger variety, which is the $\ell_p$-analogue of the Cayley-Menger variety for Euclidean distance, we provide an $\ell_p$-extension of the generic global rigidity theory of Connelly. As a by-product of our proof, we also offer a purely graph-theoretical characterisation of the $2$-identifiability of an orthogonal projection of the $p$-Cayley-Menger variety along a coordinate axis of the ambient affine space.

Abstract: Machine learning photo-z methods, trained directly on spectroscopic redshifts, provide a viable alternative to traditional template fitting methods but may not generalise well on new data that deviates from that in the training set. In this work, we present a Hybrid Algorithm for WI(Y)de-range photo-z estimation with Artificial neural networks and TEmplate fitting (HAYATE), a novel photo-z method that combines template fitting and data-driven approaches and whose training loss is optimised in terms of both redshift point estimates and probability distributions. We produce artificial training data from low-redshift galaxy SEDs at z<1.3, artificially redshifted up to z=5. We test the model on data from the ZFOURGE surveys, demonstrating that HAYATE can function as a reliable emulator of EAZY for the broad redshift range beyond the region of sufficient spectroscopic completeness. The network achieves precise photo-z estimations with smaller errors ($\sigma_{NMAD}$) than EAZY in the initial low-z region (z<1.3), while being comparable even in the high-z extrapolated regime (1.3

Abstract: We conjecture a set of differential equations that characterizes the Liouville irregular states of half-integer ranks, which extends the generalized AGT correspondence to all the $(A_1,A_\text{even})$ and $(A_1,D_\text{odd})$ types Argyres-Douglas theories. For lower half-integer ranks, our conjecture is verified by deriving it as a suitable limit of a similar set of differential equations for integer ranks. This limit is interpreted as the 2D counterpart of a 4D RG-flow from $(A_1,D_{2n})$ to $(A_1,D_{2n-1})$. For rank $3/2$, we solve the conjectured differential equations and find a power series expression for the irregular state $|I^{(3/2)}\rangle$. Abstract: The silicon vertex detector (SVD) is installed at the heart of the Belle II experiment, taking data at the high-luminosity $B$-Factory SuperKEKB since 2019. The detector has shown a stable and above-99\% hit efficiency, with a large signal-to-noise in all sensors since the beginning of data taking. Cluster position and time resolution have been measured with 2020 and 2022 data and show excellent performance and stability. The effect of radiation damage is visible, but not affecting the performance. As the luminosity increases, higher machine backgrounds are expected and the excellent hit-time information in SVD can be exploited for background rejection. In particular, we have recently developed a novel procedure to select hits by grouping them event-by-event based on their time. This new procedure allows a significant reduction of the fake rate, while preserving the tracking efficiency, and it has therefore replaced the previous cut-based procedure. We have developed a method that uses the SVD hits to estimate the track time (previously unavailable) and the collision time. It has a similar precision to the estimate based on the drift chamber but its execution time is three orders of magnitude smaller, allowing a faster online reconstruction that is crucial in a high luminosity regime. The track time is a powerful information provided to analysis that allows, together with the above-mention grouping selection, to raise the occupancy limit above that expected at nominal luminosity, leaving room for a safety factor. Finally, in June 2022 the data taking of the Belle II experiment was stopped to install a new two-layer DEPFET detector (PXD) and upgrade components of the accelerator. The whole silicon tracker (PXD+SVD) has been extracted from Belle II, the new PXD installed, the detector closed and commissioned. Abstract: The terahertz (THz) frequency range, spanning 0.1 to 10 THz, is a field ripe for innovation with vast, developing potential in areas like wireless communication and molecular spectroscopy. Our work introduces a novel dual-wavelength laser design that utilizes stimulated Brillouin scattering in an optical fiber cavity to effectively generate two highly coherent optical waves with inherently mitigated differential phase noise. To guarantee robust operation, the Stokes waves are optically injected into their respective pump lasers, which also serves to greatly improve the resulting coherence. The frequency difference between the two wavelengths is converted into THz waves through a uni-traveling-carrier photodiode. This innovative design facilitates the creation of THz waves with phase noise levels of less than -100 dBc/Hz, translating to timing noise below 100 $\mathrm{as} / \sqrt{\mathrm{Hz}}$ at 10 kHz Fourier frequency, over a carrier frequency range from 300 GHz to 3 THz. This development in phase noise reduction establishes a new benchmark in the spectral purity of tunable THz sources. Such advances are pivotal for applications to move beyond oscillator constraints, notably in advanced wireless communication systems and molecular spectroscopy.

Abstract: We report measurements of the branching fractions and direct $\it{CP}$ asymmetries of the decays $B^0 \to K^+ \pi^-$, $B^+ \to K^+ \pi^0$, $B^+ \to K^0 \pi^+$, and $B^0 \to K^0 \pi^0$, and use these for testing the standard model through an isospin-based sum rule. In addition, we measure the branching fraction and direct $\it{CP}$ asymmetry of the decay $B^+ \to \pi^+\pi^0$ and the branching fraction of the decay $B^0 \to \pi^+\pi^-$. The data are collected with the Belle II detector from $e^+e^-$ collisions at the $\Upsilon(4S)$ resonance produced by the SuperKEKB asymmetric-energy collider and contain $387\times 10^6$ bottom-antibottom meson pairs. Signal yields are determined in two-dimensional fits to background-discriminating variables, and range from 500 to 3900 decays, depending on the channel. We obtain $-0.03 \pm 0.13 \pm 0.04$ for the sum rule, in agreement with the standard model expectation of zero and with a precision comparable to the best existing determinations.

Abstract: Action recognition is a key technology for many industrial applications. Methods using visual information such as images are very popular. However, privacy issues prevent widespread usage due to the inclusion of private information, such as visible faces and scene backgrounds, which are not necessary for recognizing user action. In this paper, we propose a privacy-preserving action recognition by ultrasound active sensing. As action recognition from ultrasound active sensing in a non-invasive manner is not well investigated, we create a new dataset for action recognition and conduct a comparison of features for classification. We calculated feature values by focusing on the temporal variation of the amplitude of ultrasound reflected waves and performed classification using a support vector machine and VGG for eight fundamental action classes. We confirmed that our method achieved an accuracy of 97.9% when trained and evaluated on the same person and in the same environment. Additionally, our method achieved an accuracy of 89.5% even when trained and evaluated on different people. We also report the analyses of accuracies in various conditions and limitations.

Abstract: Abstract Extranodal NK/T-cell lymphoma (ENKTCL) is an Epstein-Barr virus (EBV)-related neoplasm preferentially involving the upper aerodigestive tract. Here we show that NK-cell-specific Trp53 disruption in mice leads to the development of NK-cell lymphomas after long latency, which involve not only the hematopoietic system but also the salivary glands. Before tumor onset, Trp53 knockout causes extensive gene expression changes, resulting in immature NK-cell expansion, exclusively in the salivary glands. Both human and murine NK-cell lymphomas express tissue-resident markers, suggesting tissue-resident NK cells as their cell-of-origin. Murine NK-cell lymphomas show recurrent Myc amplifications and upregulation of MYC target gene signatures. EBV-encoded latent membrane protein 1 expression accelerates NK-cell lymphomagenesis and causes diverse microenvironmental changes, particularly myeloid propagation, through interferon-γ signaling. In turn, myeloid cells support tumor cells via CXCL16-CXCR6 signaling and its inhibition is effective against NK-cell tumors in vivo. Remarkably, KLRG1-expressing cells expand in the tumor and are capable of repopulating tumors in secondary recipients. Furthermore, targeting KLRG1 alone or combined with MYC inhibition using an eIF4 inhibitor is effective against NK-cell tumors. Therefore, our observations provide insights into the pathogenesis and highlight potential therapeutic targets, including CXCL16, KLRG1, and MYC, in ENKTCL, which can help improve its diagnostic and therapeutic strategies.

Abstract: Abstract Nasal respiratory disorders are linked to craniofacial anomalies and systemic dysfunctions. However, the implications of nasal respiratory disorders on brain development and their subsequent impact on brain functionalization remain largely unknown. Here, we describe that nasal obstruction from postnatal developmental stages in mice precipitates deficits in cerebellum-associated behaviors and compromised refinement and maturation of neural circuits in the cerebellum. We show that mice with nasal obstruction during developmental phases exhibit marked impairments in motor function and exhibit increased immobility time in forced swimming test. Additionally, we identified critical periods during which nasal respiration is essential for optimizing motor function and preserving mental health. Our study also reveals that nasal obstruction in mice disrupts the typical developmental process of synapse elimination in the cerebellum and hinders the normal transition of activity patterns in cerebellar Purkinje cell populations during development. Through comparing activity patterns in mouse models subjected to nasal obstruction at various stages, we suggest that the maturation of specific activity pattern among Purkinje cell populations is fundamental to the functional integrity of the cerebellum. Our findings highlight the indispensable role of adequate nasal respiration during development for the establishment and functional integrity of neural circuits, thereby significantly affecting brain function.

Abstract: Abstract Offset responses are traditionally viewed as indicators of sound cessation. Here, we investigate offset responses to auditory click trains, examining how they are modulated by inter-click intervals (ICIs) and train duration. Using extracellular recordings and electrocorticography (ECoG) in non-human primates, alongside electroencephalography (EEG) in humans, we show that offset responses are significantly influenced by both ICI and train length, thereby establishing them as markers of temporal integration. We introduce the concept of the ‘Neuronal Integrative Window’ (NIW), defined as the temporal span during which neurons integrate stimuli to produce or modulate the temporal integration signal. Our data reveal that on the neuronal level, the auditory cortex (AC) exhibits a more expansive NIW than the medial geniculate body (MGB), integrating stimuli over longer durations and showing a preference for larger ICIs. Furthermore, our results indicate that offset responses could serve as potential biomarkers for neurological and psychiatric conditions, highlighted by their sensitivity to pharmacological modulation with ketamine. This study advances our understanding of auditory temporal processing and proposes a novel approach for assessing and monitoring brain health.

Abstract: Abstract Background Morphine is effective in palliative care for patients with end-stage heart failure; however, its use is avoided in patients with impaired renal function because it tends to induce adverse effects. Although oxycodone has been reported to be a useful alternative, the evidence is insufficient. Therefore, we investigated the safety and efficacy of oxycodone in eight patients with end-stage heart failure complicated by chronic kidney disease. Methods This single-center retrospective study reviewed patients with end-stage heart failure who were referred to the heart failure multidisciplinary team at our institution and administered oxycodone for refractory dyspnea during hospitalization between January 2011 and December 2018. We examined the details of oxycodone usage, vital signs, and the Modified Borg Scale (MBS), which quantifies the symptoms of dyspnea and adverse events. Abstract: Purpose This study assessed the benefits of quality threshold (QT) implementation for liver shear wave elastography (SWE) in children during free breathing. Methods The QT, which adjusts the SWE map display based on shear wave quality, was set at 55%. Phantom measurements (PMs) were taken with a fixed probe using QT (termed PM-1); a moving probe without QT (PM-2); and a moving probe with QT (PM-3). Each measurement was subjected to random samplings of various sizes. Clinical measurements (CMs) were obtained from children with biliary atresia using following protocols: CM-1, manually defined regions of interest (ROIs); CM-2, default ROIs without QT; and CM-3, default ROIs with QT. Elasticity measurements were compared across fibrosis grades, and color patterns on the SWE maps were analyzed. Results In the phantom experiments, the moving probe produced lower elasticity measurements; this difference decreased upon QT application. With the moving probe, random sampling indicated fewer interquartile range-to-median ratios exceeding 30% upon QT application (4% vs. 14% when five values were sampled, P=0.004). In clinical experiments, QT improved the differentiation of fibrosis grade in patients over 5 years old, with a significant difference between moderate and severe fibrosis (P=0.004). Abstract: We present a measurement of time-dependent rate asymmetries in $B^0\to \phi K^0_S$ decays to search for non-standard-model physics in $b\to q \overline{q}s$ transitions. The data sample is collected with the Belle II detector at the SuperKEKB asymmetric-energy $e^{+}e^{-}$ collider in 2019-2022 and contains $(387\pm 6)\times 10^6$ bottom-antibottom mesons from $\Upsilon(4S)$ resonance decays. We reconstruct $162\pm17$ signal events and extract the charge-parity ($CP$) violating parameters from a fit to the distribution of the proper-decay-time difference of the two $B$ mesons. The measured direct and mixing-induced $CP$ asymmetries are $A=0.31\pm0.20\pm0.05$ and $S=0.54\pm0.26^{+0.06}_{-0.08}$, respectively, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. The results are compatible with the $CP$ asymmetries observed in $b\to c\overline{c} s$ transitions.

Abstract: We report the first search for a non-standard-model resonance decaying into $\tau$ pairs in $e^{+}e^{-}\rightarrow \mu^{+}\mu^{-} \tau^+\tau^-$ events in the 3.6-10 GeV/$c^{2}$ mass range. We use a 62.8 fb$^{-1}$ sample of $e^+e^-$ collisions collected at a center-of-mass energy of 10.58 GeV by the Belle II experiment at the SuperKEKB collider. The analysis probes three different models predicting a spin-1 particle coupling only to the heavier lepton families, a Higgs-like spin-0 particle that couples preferentially to charged leptons (leptophilic scalar), and an axion-like particle, respectively. We observe no evidence for a signal and set exclusion limits at 90% confidence level on the product of cross section and branching fraction into $\tau$ pairs, ranging from 0.7 fb to 24 fb, and on the couplings of these processes. We obtain world-leading constraints on the couplings for the leptophilic scalar model for masses above 6.5 GeV/$c^2$ and for the axion-like particle model over the entire mass range.

Abstract: Belk and Connelly introduced the realizable dimension $\textrm{rd}(G)$ of a finite graph $G$, which is the minimum nonnegative integer $d$ such that every framework $(G,p)$ in any dimension admits a framework in $\mathbb{R}^d$ with the same edge lengths. They characterized finite graphs with realizable dimension at most $1$, $2$, or $3$ in terms of forbidden minors. In this paper, we consider periodic frameworks and extend the notion to $\mathbb{Z}$-symmetric graphs. We give a forbidden minor characterization of $\mathbb{Z}$-symmetric graphs with realizable dimension at most $1$ or $2$, and show that the characterization can be checked in polynomial time for given quotient $\mathbb{Z}$-labelled graphs., Comment: 18 pages, 3 figures

Abstract: The identifiability problem arises naturally in a number of contexts in mathematics and computer science. Specific instances include local or global rigidity of graphs and unique completability of partially-filled tensors subject to rank conditions. The identifiability of points on secant varieties has also been a topic of much research in algebraic geometry. It is often formulated as the problem of identifying a set of points satisfying a given set of algebraic relations. A key question then is to prove sufficient conditions for relations to guarantee the identifiability of the points. This paper proposes a new general framework for capturing the identifiability problem when a set of algebraic relations has a combinatorial structure and develops tools to analyse the impact of the underlying combinatorics on the local or global identifiability of points. Our framework is built on the language of graph rigidity, where the measurements are Euclidean distances between two points, but applicable in the generality of hypergraphs with arbitrary algebraic measurements. We establish necessary and sufficient (hyper)graph theoretical conditions for identifiability by exploiting techniques from graph rigidity theory and algebraic geometry of secant varieties. In particular our work analyses combinatorially the effect of non-generic projections of secant varieties.

Abstract: Muon neutrino and antineutrino disappearance probabilities are identical in the standard three-flavor neutrino oscillation framework, but CPT violation and non-standard interactions can violate this symmetry. In this work we report the measurements of $\sin^{2} \theta_{23}$ and $\Delta m_{32}^2$ independently for neutrinos and antineutrinos. The aforementioned symmetry violation would manifest as an inconsistency in the neutrino and antineutrino oscillation parameters. The analysis discussed here uses a total of 1.97$\times$10$^{21}$ and 1.63$\times$10$^{21}$ protons on target taken with a neutrino and antineutrino beam respectively, and benefits from improved flux and cross-section models, new near detector samples and more than double the data reducing the overall uncertainty of the result. No significant deviation is observed, consistent with the standard neutrino oscillation picture.

Abstract: We report a search for lepton-flavor-violating decays $\tau^- \to \ell^- \phi$ ($\ell^- =e^-,\mu^-$) at the Belle II experiment, using a sample of electron-positron data produced at the SuperKEKB collider in 2019-2021 and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 190 fb$^{-1}$. We use a new untagged selection for $e^+e^- \to \tau^+\tau^-$ events, where the signal $\tau$ is searched for as a neutrinoless final state of a single charged lepton and a $\phi$ meson and the other $\tau$ is not reconstructed in any specific decay mode, in contrast to previous measurements by the BaBar and Belle experiments. We find no evidence for $\tau^- \to \ell^- \phi$ decays and obtain upper limits on the branching fractions at 90% confidence level of 23 $\times 10^{-8}$ and 9.7$\times 10^{-8}$ for $\tau^- \rightarrow e^-\phi$ and $\tau^- \rightarrow \mu^-\phi$, respectively

Abstract: We present a measurement of the branching fractions of four $B^{0,-}\to D^{(*)+,0} K^- K^{0}_S$ decay modes. The measurement is based on data from SuperKEKB electron-positron collisions at the $\Upsilon(4S)$ resonance collected with the Belle II detector and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of ${362~\text{fb}^{-1}}$. The event yields are extracted from fits to the distributions of the difference between expected and observed $B$ meson energy to separate signal and background, and are efficiency-corrected as a function of the invariant mass of the $K^-K_S^0$ system. We find the branching fractions to be: \[ \text{B}(B^-\to D^0K^-K_S^0)=(1.89\pm 0.16\pm 0.10)\times 10^{-4}, \] \[ \text{B}(\overline B{}^0\to D^+K^-K_S^0)=(0.85\pm 0.11\pm 0.05)\times 10^{-4},\] \[ \text{B}(B^-\to D^{*0}K^-K_S^0)=(1.57\pm 0.27\pm 0.12)\times 10^{-4}, \] \[ \text{B}(\overline B{}^0\to D^{*+}K^-K_S^0)=(0.96\pm 0.18\pm 0.06)\times 10^{-4},\] where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. These results include the first observation of $\overline B{}^0\to D^+K^-K_S^0$, $B^-\to D^{*0}K^-K_S^0$, and $\overline B{}^0\to D^{*+}K^-K_S^0$ decays and a significant improvement in the precision of $\text{B}(B^-\to D^0K^-K_S^0)$ compared to previous measurements.

47. Rigidity of Symmetric Simplicial Complexes and the Lower Bound Theorem

Abstract: We show that, if $\Gamma$ is a point group of $\mathbb{R}^{k+1}$ of order two for some $k\geq 2$ and $\mathcal S$ is a $k$-pseudomanifold which has a free automorphism of order two, then either $\mathcal S$ has a $\Gamma$-symmetric infinitesimally rigid realisation in $\mathbb{R}^{k+1}$ or $k=2$ and $\Gamma$ is a half-turn rotation group.This verifies a conjecture made by Klee, Nevo, Novik and Zhang for the case when $\Gamma$ is a point-inversion group. Our result implies that Stanley's lower bound theorem for centrally symmetric polytopes extends to pseudomanifolds with a free simplicial involution, thus verifying (the inequality part) of another conjecture of Klee, Nevo, Novik and Zheng. Both results actually apply to a much larger class of simplicial complexes, namely the circuits of the simplicial matroid. Abstract: This paper reports the first measurement of muon neutrino charged-current interactions without pions in the final state using multiple detectors with correlated energy spectra at T2K. The data was collected on hydrocarbon targets using the off-axis T2K near detector (ND280) and the on-axis T2K near detector (INGRID) with neutrino energy spectra peaked at 0.6 GeV and 1.1 GeV respectively. The correlated neutrino flux presents an opportunity to reduce the impact of the flux uncertainty and to study the energy dependence of neutrino interactions. The extracted double-differential cross sections are compared to several Monte Carlo neutrino-nucleus interaction event generators showing the agreement between both detectors individually and with the correlated result., Comment: Updated discussion in Sec. Abstract: We report measurements of the branching fraction and $\it CP$ asymmetry in $B^{0} \to \pi^{0} \pi^{0}$ decays reconstructed at Belle II in an electron-positron collision sample containing $198 \times 10^{6}$ $B\overline{B}$ pairs. We measure a branching fraction $\mathcal{B}(\Bpipi) = (1.38 \pm 0.27 \pm 0.22) \times 10^{-6}$ and a $\it CP$ asymmetry $\Acp(\Bpipi) = 0.14 \pm 0.46 \pm 0.07$, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic.

50. Relationship between Ikigai and longitudinal changes in serum HDL cholesterol levels: the Circulatory Risk in Communities Study (CIRCS)

Abstract: Abstract Background Having positive psychological well-being has been associated with serum high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDLC), but no longitudinal study to date has examined the association between Ikigai and serum HDLC. Therefore, we examined the association between Ikigai and change in serum HDLC over time using a cohort dataset spanning 2010–2018. Methods The study included 471 men and 776 women aged 40–74 years who underwent a cardiovascular examination in 2010 and were asked their levels of Ikigai. We combined “definitely yes” and “yes” as “with Ikigai” and recorded “a little” as “with a little Ikigai” and “no” as “without Ikigai”. We measured serum HDLC using direct methods. The association between Ikigai and serum HDLC levels at baseline, and changes in this relationship during an eight-year period, were analyzed using linear mixed-effect models. Results At the baseline, relative to those without Ikigai, women with Ikigai had higher serum HDLC (baseline difference in those with a little Ikigai = 7.52 mg/dl, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.12 to 13.9 and in those with Ikigai = 8.11 mg/dl, 95% CI: 1.54 to 14.7). The difference in serum HDLC between women with and without Ikigai remained over the eight-year follow-up period. There were no similar Ikigai-associated differences in the serum HDLC of men. Conclusions Women with Ikigai showed differences in serum HDLC that were observed at baseline and persisted over time.
