The purpose of this cross sectional study was to assess the extent of depression, and the quality of life (QoL) among confirmed Covid-19 Bangladeshi patients tested positive for Covid19 from October 2020 to March 2021. This tele-interview survey included 380 patients. Eligible participants were identified from all available phone numbers of the research population obtained from various RT-PCR labs run by the government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh. The level of depression, pain and QoL was assessed with PHQ-9, Visual analogue scale (VAS), and short form-12 V2 (SF-12v2) survey instrument respectively. Depression was prevalent in 4 out of every 5 patients. More than two-third of participants had worse physical and mental health than the average citizen after being diagnosed as COVID-19 positive case. Around two-third of respondents had mild to severe pain after recovery from COVID-19. Younger participants (aged ≤50 years) had relatively better QoL and less pain intensity compared to those of older participant (aged >50 years). The respondents who had higher intensity of subjective pain, and worse than the average physical health had higher frequency of depression. Individuals having history of covid-19 are especially vulnerable to develop pain which was associated with depression and lower quality of life during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Introduction: The media is an important source of health-related information for patients, general public, policymakers and health professionals and has a large influence on their knowledge and opinions. No studies so far have explored the content, nature and quality of health journalism in Bangladesh. Objectives: To i) explore the nature and quality of media coverage of health stories in Bangladeshi newspapers, ii) understand the perceptions of reporters about medical- and health journalism, including the perceived barriers and facilitators, and iii) identify factors influencing health reporting. Methods: In a mixed-method pilot study, during a five-month period, all medical and healthcare related news articles published in three leading Bangladeshi daily newspapers (N=461), were content analyzed, and journalists were asked in a questionnaire about their knowledge and medical skills. Results: Only 44% of the articles reported in a positive tone on health services aspects, while 27.1% were related to malpractice or treatment errors. Many articles contained questionable medical information (49.9%), mostly regarding unregistered clinicians (67.5%), often referred to as ‘doctor’. COVID-19 pandemic is now a great headache for the world population. Respiratory symptoms are the main presentation of COVID-19. However, musculoskeletal pain, headache, loss of taste and smell sense, and neurological manifestations may occur. Identification of patterns of musculoskeletal pain, fatigue and physical health status in COVID-19 is crucial. In this cross sectional study, a total 380 individuals with COVID-19 were recruited from the population following selection criteria. Pain varied widely in hip, neck, leg and calf muscles, back and spine, shoulder, arms and hand, and other parts of the body among the respondents. Inconstant, among respondents of younger age group (aged ≤50 year), 37.59% had moderate pain, 6.77% had severe pain, 13.91% had mild pain, and 41.17% had no pain. Introduction: Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) started its journey from Wuhan, China and gradually became a pandemic. COVID-19 often affects the respiratory system, but symptoms may include fatigue, myalgia, arthralgia, arthritis, spine-, and bone pain as presenting complaints. In the present systematic search and review, we aim to highlight the musculoskeletal manifestations during COVID-19. Methods: Using PubMed Central and Google Scholar search engines, we used as key words “muscle pain”, “joint pain”, “body ache”, “fatigue”, in Covid-19 patients. Results: After screening, a total of 76 articles were included following inclusion criteria dated between January 1 and July 1, 2020. All articles were published in English comprising 36558 COVID-19 cases. In cross sectional studies, fatigue was found in 55%, myalgia in 26%, and arthralgia in 20%, respectively. In cohort studies, fatigue was found in 35%, myalgia in 15%, and arthralgia in 5%, respectively. Sporadic case reports also mention back pain, bone pain, myositis and arthritis as presenting symptoms of COVID-19.Discussion: Fatigue was the most frequent musculoskeletal (MSK) manifestion of COVID-19 followed by myalgia and joint pain. The frequency of the different MSK manifestations in COVID-19 may vary widely among different geographic regions. Conclusions: MSK like fatigue, myalgia and arthralgia are frequent symptoms in COVID-19 patients and may vary in different countries.

Cervical cancer is the second most common cancer in women worldwide, but 80% of cancer occurs in developing countries. Bangladesh, like other developing countries faces a burden of diseases, in spite of having established screening program. This cross-sectional study was done to determine the knowledge, attitude and practice of cervical cancer screening among the women attending outpatient department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University, Dhaka, Bangladesh. Two hundred women were enrolled in this study by purposive sampling. All the information was collected in a pre-designed structured questionnaire by an interviewer. Data were analyzed using statistical program SPSS version 17.0. About 12% of women had good knowledge regarding cervical cancer screening. Seventy eight percent of women did not ever have a screening test and 78.5% of women had no access to the facility of having a screening test. Seventy five percent of women had never been suggested by a doctor to have a screening test. The more the participants' age, low level of education and poor knowledge, the less the practice of cervical cancer screening (p0.05). The most common reason cited for not having screening test was the lack of information. The women studied here demonstrated a very low coverage of the screening test and a poor knowledge regarding its utility. Improving the awareness is imperative for better implementation of cervical cancer screening program in Bangladesh.

The aim of this study was to examine the optimum time of rehabilitation initiation after stroke in terms of disabilities, mobility and fall risk assessment. Data were collected prospectively at seven tertiary level health care centers in Bangladesh during the 36 months period from 2013 to 2016. All respondents were divided into four groups based on the initiation of rehabilitation as: a) 0-24 hours, b) 25-72 hours, c) 4-7 days and d) 8-60 days. Results show that significant improvement on stroke recovery, disabilities reduction, improvement in mobility restriction and reduction of fall risks in all the four groups but more improvement was observed in 0-24 hour’s group during follow-up after 3 and 12 weeks. On multinomial logistic regression analysis, the independent factors shows the mobility restriction and fall risk were more in the younger patients, male gender, married, hemorrhagic lesion and bilateral stroke.
