9. Effect of Electrolytic Solution Concentrations on Surface Hydrophilicity of Micro-Arc Oxidation Ceramic Film Based on Ti6Al4V Titanium Alloy

Abstract

The present work focuses on the surface of Ti6Al4V titanium alloy to improve its microstructure and hydrophilic property using micro-arc oxidation (MAO) in a mixed electrolyte system with different concentrations of calcium salt and phosphate salt. The morphology, the crystalline structure, the thickness and the hydrophilic property of the MAO film were detected by scanning electron microscopy(SEM), X-ray diffraction(XRD), eddy current thickness meter and electrochemical work station. Results show that the MAO film surface is porous and composed of anatase, rutile and a small amount of hydroxyapatite. The amount of hydroxyapatite phase increases with increasing of potassium dihydrogen phosphate concentration. The thickness of MAO film will not change until it increases to a certain value. The ratio of the surface loose zone to the inner compact zone changes with increasing of the potassium dihydrogen phosphate concentration. The thicker loose layer surface is porous and has the hydroxyapatite phase with more Ca and P, which can improve the hydrophilic property and biological compatibility of MAO ceramic film.

24. Antioxidant Phenylpropanoid-Substituted Epicatechins from Trichilia catigua

Abstract

Two new phenylpropanoid-substituted epicatechins, namely, catiguanin A ( 1) and catiguanin B ( 2), were isolated from the bark of Trichilia catiguaalong with four known compounds, cinchonain Ia ( 3), cinchonain Ib ( 4), cinchonain Ic ( 5), and cinchonain Id ( 6). The structures of 1and 2were elucidated by analysis of spectroscopic data and by comparison of their NMR data with those of previously reported cinchonains. The isolated compounds exhibited potent antioxidant activity in the α,α-diphenyl-β-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging test, with IC 50values in the 2.3–9.4 µM range.

Abstract

Two new taraxasterane-type triterpenes, 20,28-epoxy-28-methoxytaraxasteran-3-ol (1) and 20,28-epoxytaraxaster-21-en-3-ol (2), were isolated from an ethyl acetate extract of the leaves of Nerium oleander, together with ursane-type triterpenes, 28-nor-urs-12-ene-3,17-diol (3) and 3-hydroxyurs-12-en-28-aldehyde (4). The structures of 1and 2were established on the basis of their spectroscopic data. Anti-inflammatory activity of 1−4was examined on the basis of inhibitory activity against the induction of intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1). Cytotoxic activity of 1−4was evaluated against four human cell lines, A-549, WI-38, VA-13, and HepG2 cells.

26. Bioactive Secolignans from Peperomia dindygulensis

Abstract

Thirteen secolignans, including eight new ones (1−8), were isolated from the EtOAc extract of Peperomia dindygulensis. The structures were mainly elucidated by 1D and 2D NMR and MS experiments, the relative configurations were determined by NOE correlations, and the absolute configurations were established by the optical rotations and CD spectra. Cytotoxicity and MDR (multidrug resistance) reversal activity of the isolated compounds were examined. Compounds 6 and 7, peperomins B (10) and E (12), showed moderate to strong growth inhibitory activity against a malignant lung tumor cell (VA-13) with IC50 values of 15.2, 13.5, 13.9, and 1.93 μM, respectively, and also inhibited the growth of a normal lung fibroblast cell (WI-38) at the same levels. Compound 7 and peperomin E (12) exhibited inhibitory activity against a liver tumor cell (HepG2) with IC50 values of 22.3 and 12.1 μM. Compounds 5 and 7 and peperomins A, B, C, and E (9−12) enhanced calcein accumulation in MDR 2780 cells at 25 μg/mL. Compounds 2, 3/i7, and peperomin E (12) showed inhibitory activity on induction of the intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1).

Abstract

Objective: To study the chemical constituents in ethyl acetate fraction from the root of Scutelliaria regeliana., Method: The compounds were isolated by silica gel column chromatography and HPLC, and their structures were elucidated by means of spectral analyses., Result: 23 compounds were isolated and identified., Conclusion: Compound 1 is new, named as scutellariae flavonol, and the others were isolated from S. regeliana for the first time.
