On April 25th, 2019, the LIGO-Virgo Collaboration discovered a Gravitational-wave (GW) signal from a binary neutron star (BNS) merger, i.e., GW190425. Due to the inferred large total mass, the origin of GW190425 remains unclear. We perform detailed stellar structure and binary evolution calculations that take into account mass-loss, internal differential rotation, and tidal interactions between a He-rich star and a NS companion. We explore the parameter space of the initial binary properties, including initial NS and He-rich masses and initial orbital period. We find that the immediate post-common-envelope progenitor system, consisting of a primary $\sim2.0\,M_\odot$ ($\sim1.7\,M_\odot$) NS and a secondary He-rich star with an initial mass of $\sim3.0-5.5\,M_\odot$ ($\sim5.5-6.0\,M_\odot$) in a close binary with an initial period of $\sim0.08-0.5\,{\rm{days}}$ ($\sim 0.08-0.4\,{\rm{days}}$), that experiences stable Case BB/BC mass transfer (MT) during binary evolution, can reproduce the formation of GW190425-like BNS events. Our studies reveal that the secondary He-rich star of the GW190425's progenitor before its core collapse can be efficiently spun up through tidal interaction, finally remaining as a NS with rotational energy even reaching $\sim10^{52}\,{\rm{erg}}$, which is always much higher than the neutrino-driven energy of the supernova (SN) explosion. If the newborn secondary NS is a magnetar, we expect that GW190425 can be the remnant of a magnetar-driven SN, e.g., a magnetar-driven ultra-stripped SN, a superluminous SN, or a broad-line Type Ic SN. Our results show that GW190425 could be formed through the isolated binary evolution, which involves a stable Case BB/BC MT just after the common envelope phase. We present our optical observations and multi-wavelength analysis of the GRB\,200613A detected by \texttt{Fermi} satellite. Time-resolved spectral analysis of the prompt $\gamma$-ray emission was conducted utilizing the Bayesian block method to determine statistically optimal time bins. Based on the Bayesian Information Criterion (BIC), the data generally favor the Band+Blackbody (short as BB) model. We speculate that the main Band component comes from the Blandford-Znajek mechanism, while the additional BB component comes from the neutrino annihilation process. The BB component becomes significant for a low-spin, high-accretion rate black hole central engine, as evidenced by our model comparison with the data. The afterglow light curve exhibits typical power-law decay, and its behavior can be explained by the collision between the ejecta and constant interstellar medium (ISM). Model fitting yields the following parameters: $E_{K,iso} = (2.04^{+11.8}_{-1.50})\times 10^{53}$ erg, $\Gamma_0=354^{+578}_{-217}$, $p=2.09^{+0.02}_{-0.03}$, $n_{18}=(2.04^{+9.71}_{-1.87})\times 10^{2}$ cm$^{-3}$, $\theta_j=24.0^{+6.50}_{-5.54}$ degree, $\epsilon_e=1.66^{+4.09}_{-1.39})\times 10^{-1}$ and $\epsilon_B=(7.76^{+48.5}_{-5.9})\times 10^{-6}$. In addition, we employed the public Python package \texttt{Prospector} perform a spectral energy distribution (SED) modeling of the host galaxy. The results suggest that the host galaxy is a massive galaxy ($\log(M_\ast / M_\odot)=11.75^{+0.10}_{-0.09}$) with moderate star formation rate ($\mbox{SFR}=22.58^{+13.63}_{-7.22} M_{\odot}$/yr). This SFR is consistent with the SFR of $\sim 34.2 M_{\odot}$ yr$^{-1}$ derived from the [OII] emission line in the observed spectrum., Comment: 30 pages, 16 figures, accepted by ApJ

Theories of modified gravity suggest that the propagation speed of gravitational wave (GW) $v_g$ may deviate from the speed of light $c$. A constraint can be placed on the difference between $c$ and $v_g$ with a simple method that uses the arrival time delay between GW and electromagnetic (EM) wave simultaneously emitted from a burst event. We simulated the joint observation of GW and short Gamma-Ray burst (sGRB) signals from Binary Neutron Star (BNS) merger events in different observation campaigns, involving advanced LIGO (aLIGO) in design sensitivity and Einstein Telescope (ET) joint-detected with \textit{Fermi}/GBM. As a result, the relative precision of constraint on $v_g$ can reach $\sim 10^{-17}$ (aLIGO) and $\sim 10^{-18}$ (ET), which are one and two orders of magnitude better than that from GW170817, respectively. We continue to obtain the bound of graviton mass $m_g \leq 7.1(3.2)\times 10^{-20}\,$eV with aLIGO (ET). Applying the Standard-Model Extension (SME) test framework, the constraint on $v_g$ allows us to study the Lorentz violation in the nondispersive, nonbirefringent limit of the gravitational sector. We obtain the constraints of the dimensionless isotropic coefficients $\bar{s}_{00}^{(4)}$ at mass dimension $d = 4$, which are $-1\times 10^{-15}< \bar{s}_{00}^{(4)}<9\times 10^{-17}$ for aLIGO and $-4\times 10^{-16}< \bar{s}_{00}^{(4)}<8\times 10^{-18}$ for ET.

We consider Cournot mean field games of controls, a model originally developed for the production of an exhaustible resource by a continuum of producers. We prove uniqueness of the solution under general assumptions on the price function. Then, we prove convergence of a learning algorithm which gives existence of a solution to the mean field games system. The learning algorithm is implemented with a suitable finite difference discretization to get a numerical method to the solution. We supplement our theoretical analysis with several numerical examples and illustrate the impacts of model parameters.

Spatial template is important to study the nearby supernova remnant (SNR). For SNR G332.5-5.6, we report a gaussian disk with radius of about 1.06 degrees to be a potential good spatial model in the gamma-ray band. Employing this new gaussian disk, its GeV lightcurve shows a significant variability of about 7 sigma. We analyze asymptotic convergence properties of Newton's method for a class of evolutive Mean Field Games systems with non-separable Hamiltonian arising in mean field type models with congestion. We prove the well posedness of the Mean Field Game system with non-separable Hamiltonian and of the linear system giving the Newton iterations. Then, by forward induction and assuming that the initial guess is sufficiently close to the solution of problem, we show a quadratic rate of convergence for the approximation of the Mean Field Game system by Newton's method. We also consider the case of a nonlocal coupling, but with separable Hamiltonian, and we show a similar rate of convergence.

Acceleration of hadrons in relativistic shocks has been long expected and invoked to model GRB high-energy photon and neutrino emissions. However, so far there has been no direct observational evidence of hadronic emission from GRBs. The B.O.A.T. ("brightest of all time") gamma-ray burst (GRB) 221009A had extreme energies (with an isotropic energy exceeding $10^{55}$ erg) and was detected in broad-band including the very-high-energy (VHE, $>100\,\rm GeV$) band up to $>10$ TeV. Here we perform a comprehensive spectral analysis of the GRB from keV to TeV energy range and perform detailed spectral and light curve modelings considering both the traditional synchrotron self-Compton process and the electromagnetic (EM) cascade process initiated by hadronic interactions by accelerated cosmic rays in the external shock. We find that the leptonic scenario alone is not adequate to account for the observations, whereas the proposed scenario with the combination of hadronic and leptonic components can well reproduce the multi-wavelength spectra and the light curve. This result reveals the existence of the accelerated hadronic component in the early afterglow of this extreme burst. As one class of the most important objects in the universe, magnetars can produce a lot of different frequency bursts including X-ray bursts. In \cite{2022ApJS..260...24C}, 75 X-ray bursts produced by magnetar SGR J1935+2154 during an active period in 2020 are published, including the duration and net photon counts of each burst, and waiting time based on the trigger time difference. In this paper, we utilize the power-law model, $dN(x)/dx\propto (x+x_0)^{-\alpha_x}$, to fit the cumulative distributions of these parameters. It can be found that all the cumulative distributions can be well fitted, which can be interpreted by a self-organizing criticality theory. Furthermore, we check whether this phenomenon still exist in different energy bands and find that there is no obvious evolution. These findings further confirm that the X-ray bursts from magnetars are likely to be generated by some self-organizing critical process, which can be explained by a possible magnetic reconnection scenario in magnetars., Comment: 6 pages, 1 figure and 3 tables; published in Research in Astronomy and Astrophysics

The emerging technology of the Autonomous Truck Mounted Attenuator (ATMA), a leader-follower style vehicle system, utilizes connected and automated vehicle capabilities to enhance safety during transportation infrastructure maintenance in work zones. However, the speed difference between ATMA vehicles and general vehicles creates a moving bottleneck that reduces capacity and increases queue length, resulting in additional delays. The different routes taken by ATMA cause diverse patterns of time-varying capacity drops, which may affect the user equilibrium traffic assignment and lead to different system costs. This manuscript focuses on optimizing the routing for ATMA vehicles in a network to minimize the system cost associated with the slow-moving operation. To achieve this, a queuing-based traffic assignment approach is proposed to identify the system cost caused by the ATMA system. A queuing-based time-dependent (QBTD) travel time function, considering capacity drop, is introduced and applied in the static user equilibrium traffic assignment problem, with a result of adding dynamic characteristics. Subsequently, we formulate the queuing-based traffic assignment problem and solve it using a modified path-based algorithm. The methodology is validated using a small-size and a large-size network and compared with two benchmark models to analyze the benefit of capacity drop modeling and QBTD travel time function. Furthermore, the approach is applied to quantify the impact of different routes on the traffic system and identify an optimal route for ATMA vehicles performing maintenance work. Finally, sensitivity analysis is conducted to explore how the impact changes with variations in traffic demand and capacity reduction.

Jet precession has previously been proposed to explain the apparently repeating features in the light curves of a few gamma-ray bursts (GRBs). In this {\it Letter}, we further apply the precession model to a bright GRB 220408B by examining both its temporal and spectral consistency with the predictions of the model. As one of the recently confirmed GRBs observed by our GRID CubeSat mission, GRB 220408B is noteworthy as it exhibits three apparently similar emission episodes. Furthermore, the similarities are reinforced by their strong temporal correlations and similar features in terms of spectral evolution and spectral lags. Our analysis demonstrates that these features can be well explained by the modulated emission of a Fast-Rise-Exponential-Decay (FRED) shape light curve intrinsically produced by a precessing jet with a precession period of $18.4 \pm 0.2$ seconds, a nutation period of $11.1 \pm 0.2$ seconds and viewed off-axis. Based on the first 13.4 yr of Fermi science data in the energy range from 300 MeV to 500 GeV, we discovered a bright GeV gamma-ray source with a $\sim$5.64 $\sigma$ detection, named Fermi J1242.5+3236, which has an offset of about 0fdg0996 from a nearby star-forming galaxy NGC 4631. When using the 12-yr data, the detection significance of Fermi J1242.5+3236 is about 4.72 $\sigma$. Fermi J1242.5+3236 is a steady point source without significant temporal variability and has a hard gamma-ray photon index of about -1.60 $\pm$0.24. The spatial offset and the hard gamma-ray spectrum disfavor this source as the diffuse gamma-ray emission from this galaxy. This new source might have a possible origin of an unidentified background blazar, which is more likely a high-synchrotron-peaked blazar for its hard gamma-ray photon index. We introduce two Smoothed Policy Iteration algorithms (\textbf{SPI}s) as rules for learning policies and methods for computing Nash equilibria in second order potential Mean Field Games (MFGs). Global convergence is proved if the coupling term in the MFG system satisfy the Lasry Lions monotonicity condition. Local convergence to a stable solution is proved for system which may have multiple solutions. The convergence analysis shows close connections between \textbf{SPI}s and the Fictitious Play algorithm, which has been widely studied in the MFG literature. Numerical simulation results based on finite difference schemes are presented to supplement the theoretical analysis.

A thermal component is suggested to be the physical composition of the ejecta of several bright gamma-ray bursts (GRBs). Such a thermal component is discovered in the time-integrated spectra of several short GRBs as well as long GRBs. In this work, we present a comprehensive analysis of ten very short GRBs detected by Fermi Gamma-Ray Burst Monitor to search for the thermal component. We found that both the resultant low-energy spectral index and the peak energy in each GRB imply a common hard spectral feature, which is in favor of the main classification of the short/hard versus long/soft dichotomy in the GRB duration. We also found moderate evidence for the detection of thermal component in eight GRBs. Although such a thermal component contributes a small proportion of the global prompt gamma-ray emission, the modified thermal-radiation mechanism could enhance the proportion significantly, such as in subphotospheric dissipation., Comment: 14 pages, 6 figures, published in the Universe journal

Time-resolved polarizations carry more physical information about the source of gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) than the time-integrated ones. Therefore, they give more strict constrains on the models of GRB prompt phase. Both time-resolved and time-integrated polarizations are considered here. The model we use is the synchrotron emission in a large-scale ordered aligned magnetic field. Time-resolved polarizations of GRB prompt phase are derived with the corresponding time-resolved energy spectra. We found the time-integrated PDs calculated with two methods are similar. So it is convenient to estimate the time-integrated PD by the time-integrated energy spectrum. Most of the time-resolved PDs calculated in this paper will increase with time. The trend could match the observed time-resolved PD curve of GRB 170114A, but contrary to the predictions of a decaying PD of both the magnetized internal shock and magnetic reconnection models. PAs calculated in this paper, in general, are roughly constants with time. The predicted PAs here can not match with the violent PA changes observed in GRB 100826A and GRB 170114A. Therefore, more accurate time-resolved polarization observations are needed to test models and to diagnose the true physical process of GRB prompt phase., Comment: The calculation method is not suitable for a time-resolved polarization

Sorted by the photon fluences of short Gamma-ray Bursts (SGRBs) detected by the Fermi- Gamma Ray Burst Monitor (GBM), nine brightest bursts are selected to perform a comprehensive analysis. All GRB lightcurves are fitted well by 1 to 3 pulses that are modelled by fast-rising exponential decay profile (FRED), within which the resultant rising time is strongly positive-correlated with the full time width at half maxima (FWHM). A photon spectral model involving a cutoff power-law function and a standard blackbody function (CPL + BB) could reproduce the spectral energy distributions of these SGRBs well in the bursting phase. The CPL's peak energy is found strongly positive-correlated with the BB's temperature, which indicates they might be from the same physical origin. We report the detection of a strong thermal component in the short Gamma-Ray Burst 170206A with three intense pulses in its light curves, throughout which the fluxes of this thermal component exhibit fast temporal variability same as that of the accompanying non-thermal component. The values of the time-resolved low-energy photon index in the non-thermal component are between about -0.79 and -0.16, most of which are harder than -2/3 excepted in the synchrotron emission process. In addition, we found a common evolution between the thermal component and the non-thermal component, $E_{\rm p,CPL} \propto kT_{\rm BB}^{0.95\pm0.28}$, and $F_{\rm CPL} \propto F_{\rm BB}^{0.67\pm0.18}$, where $E_{\rm p,CPL}$ and $F_{\rm CPL}$ are the peak photon energy and corresponding flux of the non-thermal component, and $ kT_{\rm BB}$ and $F_{BB}$ are the temperature and corresponding flux of the thermal component, respectively. We introduce two algorithms based on a policy iteration method to numerically solve time-dependent Mean Field Game systems of partial differential equations with non-separable Hamiltonians. We prove the convergence of such algorithms in sufficiently small time intervals with Banach fixed point method. Moreover, we prove that the convergence rates are linear.
