Abstract

We introduce MindSpore Quantum, a pioneering hybrid quantum-classical framework with a primary focus on the design and implementation of noisy intermediate-scale quantum (NISQ) algorithms. Leveraging the robust support of MindSpore, an advanced open-source deep learning training/inference framework, MindSpore Quantum exhibits exceptional efficiency in the design and training of variational quantum algorithms on both CPU and GPU platforms, delivering remarkable performance. Furthermore, this framework places a strong emphasis on enhancing the operational efficiency of quantum algorithms when executed on real quantum hardware. This encompasses the development of algorithms for quantum circuit compilation and qubit mapping, crucial components for achieving optimal performance on quantum processors. In addition to the core framework, we introduce QuPack, a meticulously crafted quantum computing acceleration engine. QuPack significantly accelerates the simulation speed of MindSpore Quantum, particularly in variational quantum eigensolver (VQE), quantum approximate optimization algorithm (QAOA), and tensor network simulations, providing astonishing speed. This combination of cutting-edge technologies empowers researchers and practitioners to explore the frontiers of quantum computing with unprecedented efficiency and performance.

2. Exploring Ground States of Fermi-Hubbard Model on Honeycomb Lattices with Counterdiabaticity

Abstract

Exploring the ground state properties of many-body quantum systems conventionally involves adiabatic processes, alongside exact diagonalization, in the context of quantum annealing or adiabatic quantum computation. Shortcuts to adiabaticity by counter-diabatic driving serve to accelerate these processes by suppressing energy excitations. Motivated by this, we develop variational quantum algorithms incorporating the auxiliary counterdiabatic interactions, comparing them with digitized adiabatic algorithms. These algorithms are then implemented on gate-based quantum circuits to explore the ground states of the Fermi-Hubbard model on honeycomb lattices, utilizing systems with up to 26 qubits. The comparison reveals that the counter-diabatic inspired ansatz is superior to traditional Hamiltonian variational ansatz. Furthermore, the number and duration of Trotter steps are analyzed to understand and mitigate errors. 3. Benchmarking hybrid digitized-counterdiabatic quantum optimization

Abstract

Hybrid digitized-counterdiabatic quantum computing (DCQC) is a promising approach for leveraging the capabilities of near-term quantum computers, utilizing parameterized quantum circuits designed with counterdiabatic protocols. However, the classical aspect of this approach has received limited attention. In this study, we systematically analyze the convergence behavior and solution quality of various classical optimizers when used in conjunction with the digitized-counterdiabatic approach. We demonstrate the effectiveness of this hybrid algorithm by comparing its performance to the traditional QAOA on systems containing up to 28 qubits. Furthermore, we employ principal component analysis to investigate the cost landscape and explore the crucial influence of parameterization on the performance of the counterdiabatic ansatz. Our findings indicate that fewer iterations are required when local cost landscape minima are present, and the SPSA-based BFGS optimizer emerges as a standout choice for the hybrid DCQC paradigm., Comment: 9 pages, 5 figures

Abstract

Knowledge distillation aims to learn a lightweight student network from a pre-trained teacher network. In practice, existing knowledge distillation methods are usually infeasible when the original training data is unavailable due to some privacy issues and data management considerations. Therefore, data-free knowledge distillation approaches proposed to collect training instances from the Internet. However, most of them have ignored the common distribution shift between the instances from original training data and webly collected data, affecting the reliability of the trained student network. To solve this problem, we propose a novel method dubbed ``Knowledge Distillation between Different Distributions" (KD$^{3}$), which consists of three components. Specifically, we first dynamically select useful training instances from the webly collected data according to the combined predictions of teacher network and student network. Subsequently, we align both the weighted features and classifier parameters of the two networks for knowledge memorization. Meanwhile, we also build a new contrastive learning block called MixDistribution to generate perturbed data with a new distribution for instance alignment, so that the student network can further learn a distribution-invariant representation. Intensive experiments on various benchmark datasets demonstrate that our proposed KD$^{3}$ can outperform the state-of-the-art data-free knowledge distillation approaches.

Abstract

A novel coronavirus known as severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is the cause of the ongoing Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. In this study, we performed a comprehensive epidemiological and genomic analysis of SARS-CoV-2 genomes from 10 patients in Shaoxing (Zhejiang Province), a mid-sized city outside of the epicenter Hubei province, China, during the early stage of the outbreak (late January to early February, 2020). We obtained viral genomes with >99% coverage and a mean depth of 296X demonstrating that viral genomic analysis is feasible via metagenomics sequencing directly on nasopharyngeal samples with SARS-CoV-2 Real-time PCR Ct values

Abstract

BackgroundMany upper respiratory pathogens cause similar symptoms. In China, routine molecular tests for upper respiratory pathogens are not widely performed and antibiotics abuse in treating upper respiratory tract infections (URTIs) is a major public health concern.MethodsWe performed qualitative real-time PCR tests to detect common upper respiratory tract pathogens including 9 viruses and 3 bacteria in 1221 nasopharyngeal swabs from patients with fever and influenza-like symptoms in a Chinese city. A quantitative real-time PCR was also performed to measure the bacterial density of the colonizing Streptococcus pneumoniae in these samples.ResultsWe found very diverse pathogens including 81.7% viruses, 11.6% bacteria and 6.7% mixed viruses and bacteria. S. pneumoniae colonization was found in 8.0% of the cases but most of them had low bacterial density (Mean = 3.9 log cfu/ml). We also discovered an increase of S. pneumoniae colonization frequency (but not the density) in patients with detectable upper respiratory tract pathogens, in a pathogen variety-dependent manner.ConclusionsOur study provided strong evidence against empiric antibiotic use for treating URTIs, and highlighted a strong need for improving the diagnostic capacity for URTIs by using more molecular testing in China.

Abstract

Nitrogen application significantly affects microorganisms in agricultural ecosystems. However, it is still unclear how nitrogen application affects soil chemical properties and microbial communities in purple mudstone weathering products. In this study, a field soil column experiment was conducted in a typical purple soil area with four nitrogen fertilizer application gradients of 0 [CK], 280 [N1], 560 [N2], and 840 [N3] N kg ha−1. Nitrogen addition decreased the bacterial chao1 value and increased the bacterial evenness index. For both α- and β-diversity, the effect of nitrogen addition on bacteria was much greater than that on fungi. Nitrogen addition significantly increased the relative abundance of Proteobacteria, Gemmatimonadetes, Bacteroidetes, and Ascomycota and decreased the relative abundance of Actinobacteria, Cyanobacteria, and Basidiomycota. Both pH and TC are the most important soil chemical properties influencing the bacterial and fungal communities. With the increases in the nitrogen application rate, the co-occurrence network complexity increased and then decreased. In summary, nitrogen fertilizer application could significantly change the soil chemical properties, microbial community diversity, composition, and co-occurrence network of purple mudstone weathering products. Among them, the N2 treatment (560 N kg∙ha−1) can more effectively stimulate the soil nutrients, enhance microbial network complexity, and promote further weathering of purple mudstone. Abstract

The prevalent majority of foldable mobile phone products in the market are in the form of droplet shaped, which is formed by the combined action of the middle floating plate, the side floating plate, and the chassis of the hinge mechanism. This paper attempts to adjust the position of easy‐pull adhesive pasted on the side floating plate, the length of easy‐pull adhesive pasted on the chassis, and the raising height of the middle floating plate, aiming to reinforce the bending performance of the flexible module. Without changing the module stack and trajectory of the fixture plate, these modification strategies are effective and economical. The results displayed that by reasonable alteration, the cohesive peeling risk of OCA can be improved by 59.4% on average, and the EL peeling risk can be reduced by 31.6%. Abstract

In this paper, the concept of crossed foldable display module is proposed as follows: there are two foldable axes, and the two foldable axes intersect vertically. In order to realize the crossed foldable display, it needs to be designed in terms of modules, hinges and so on, especially the module support layer in the intersection area. In this paper, the steps of structural design, numerical simulation and sample verification are used to obtain two kinds of support layers suitable for crossed foldable modules, which can be folded hundreds of thousands of times without failure in the whole module test verification, providing a new form for flexible display. Abstract

This study focuses on the enhancement of back‐impact resistance in flexible OLED modules, a critical aspect for the durability of modern slim‐profile electronic devices. Under rear compressive forces, flexible OLED modules are prone to bending towards the glass cover, placing the outermost touch layer under significant tensile strain. The brittle nature of the inorganic film within the touch layer, coupled with its low fracture elongation, predisposes it to crack initiation under stress. This mechanical vulnerability can lead to catastrophic failure of the OLED functionality due to moisture and oxygen infiltration, manifesting as black spots on the display. Addressing this, we propose a dual‐faceted approach: optimizing stress distribution by the module design and enhancing the tensile strength of the touch layer's inorganic film, achieving a sixfold increase in the module's resistance to back compression.
