Background: Integrating immune checkpoint inhibitors with multi-target tyrosine kinase inhibitors presents an innovative and hopeful strategy in liver cancer treatment. Nonetheless, a degree of resistance to this treatment is noticeable in certain patients. Alternative splicing (AS) represents a common biological process that controls the variety of life functions via isoforms. Purpose: Investigating how gene AS affects the effectiveness of combined immunotherapy in treating hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Methods: Our retrospective examination focused on AS's effect on immune therapy effectiveness, utilizing accessible tissue sequencing and clinical records for HCC. For corroborating our results, we gathered samples of drug-resistant HCC tissue, nearby tissues, HCC tissue with high drug responsiveness, and healthy liver tissue from clinical studies. Results: The study revealed a link between the frequency of AS occurrences, the expression levels of programmed cell death 1 ligand 1, and the resistance to tumor medications. Our study detailed the AS occurrences in HCC, leading to the creation of a risk-assessment function and a predictive model using AS data. The results of our study revealed that the risk score effectively distinguished between various immune subtypes and the effectiveness of immune therapy. Additional examination of the chosen AS occurrences uncovered their effects on both the immune microenvironment and cellular immunity. Our investigation also delved into the regulatory framework of AS, uncovering the role of stringently controlled splicing factors in the emergence of tumors and the modulation of the body's immune response. Conclusions: Increased AS in HCC diminishes the efficacy of immunotherapy; conversely, more AS in peritumoral tissue elevates the likelihood of tumor immune evasion. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study proposes a multifunctional terahertz absorber utilizing graphene and vanadium dioxide as functional materials. By utilizing vanadium dioxide in the metallic state, the device achieves linear dichroism, with a maximum value of 0.8 at 1.75 THz, while in the insulating state, the introduction of graphene strips results in a chiral structure that achieves circular dichroism with tunable values ranging from 0 to 0.59 at 1.535 THz by regulating the graphene's Fermi level. The physical mechanism underlying the differential absorption is explained, and the influence of the device's structural parameters and incident angle on the performance is also investigated. Flexible electronics strongly demand the integration of flexible and large‐scale multifunctional oxides. BiFeO3 is one of the most essential multifunctional oxides that could be used in memories, logics, sensors, and actuators. Recently, freestanding single‐crystalline BiFeO3 membranes exhibited superior elasticity and flexibility. However, fabrication and integration of large‐scale freestanding BiFeO3 membranes into flexible electronics remain elusive. In this study, inch‐scale freestanding single‐crystalline BiFeO3 membranes are fabricated with assistance from a water‐soluble sacrificial layer. To transfer flat and crack‐free membranes, all the existing methods are first followed but fail. Then the study introduces a temporary supporting Cu layer on the surface of the as‐grown SiTiO3/Sr3Al2O6/(SrRuO3/)BiFeO3 heterostructure and successfully obtains full and crack‐free 5 mm × 5 mm freestanding membranes on various substrates. The residual strain within the heterostructure releases gradually under the protection of the Cu layer. The freestanding BiFeO3 membranes are relatively uniform among different regions and exhibit good dielectric, ferroelectric, and ferromagnetic properties. Finally, flexible ferroelectric photovoltaic devices are patterned based on those BiFeO3 membranes, and they have open circuit voltage and short circuit current density up to −0.25 ± 0.03 V and 0.82 ± 0.09 µA cm−2, respectively. Piezoelectric response of the ferroelectric/piezoelectric thin films is crucial for actuation of micro‐electromechanical systems (MEMS) devices as well as strain‐mediated electronic devices. Among many piezoelectric modes, longitudinal and transverse piezostrain is the most widely used. Various methods have been well established for quantitative characterization of the longitudinal piezostrain, such as laser interferometer and piezoelectric force microscopy. However, it is still a great challenge to characterize transverse piezostrain. Herein, a new method is established to characterize the transverse (in‐plane) piezostrain of ferroelectric/piezoelectric thin films by the inverse magnetoelectric (ME) coupling effect. A ferromagnetic thin film is patterned onto the ferroelectric thin film to form an artificial multiferroic heterostructure. The transverse piezostrain can transfer from the ferroelectric layer to the ferromagnetic layer and shift its ferromagnetic resonance field through the ME coupling effect. By comparing with a control sample of "bulk piezoceramic/ferromagnetic thin film" whose in‐plane piezostrain can be easily measured, the in‐plane piezostrain and piezoelectric coefficient of the ferroelectric thin films are then estimated. The in‐plane piezoelectric coefficient d31 and piezoelectric strain S31 of Pb(Zr,Ti)O3 (PZT) thin films are measured by this method. With the coming of the Internet of Things (IoT) era, malware attacks targeting IoT networks have posed serious threats to users. Recently, the emerging of edge computing have paved the way for new data processing paradigms in IoT networks, but it is still a challenge for deploying malware detection systems on the IoT devices. This paper develops an IoT malware detection system based on trust hybrid user-edge evaluation, namely MDHE. This system decomposes a large and complex deep learning model into two parts, which are deployed on edge servers and end devices, respectively. Specifically, a trust evaluation mechanism is used to select the trusted devices to participate the model training. Moreover, we develop a private feature generation that leverages a graph mining technology to extract the subgraph features, which then are perturbed by leveraging the differential privacy technology to prevent user privacy from leaking. Finally, we reconstruct the perturbed features on edge server, and propose a Capsule Network (CapsNet) to identify malware. Experimental results show that MDHE can effectively detect malware. Among the fitness and body shaping exercises of Chinese women, swimming has become an increasingly popular sporting activity. Swimsuits are fundamental to participation in this sport and paramount to achieving the wearers' aim of participation. A survey of 3348 Chinese women showed that body fit is central to the purchase of a swimsuit, whether one piece or two piece, with the two-piece swimsuit proving the most popular in terms of comfort. This survey revealed that the comfort of a swimsuit is relative to the design variables of the swimsuit style, the material/body cover factor and, informed by the female form, body size and body shape. This is particularly pertinent in both the right and left anterior mammary regions and also the left lateral mammary region for the female wearer to stay comfortable during swimming when she moves in the water. This study investigated the factors that affect the comfort of women wearing swimsuits when they swim. The two-piece swimsuit was considered the most comfortable. It was also found that swimsuits negatively affect women's chest area. These results present important considerations for swimsuit manufacturers. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The combination of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) and radiotherapy has shown promise in the treatment of metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). The present meta-analysis aimed to determine the efficacy and safety of combining radiotherapy (RT) ICIs for the treatment of metastatic NSCLC. PubMed, Google Scholar, the Cochrane Library and Web of Science databases were searched for relevant articles up to February 1, 2023. Post-therapy outcomes such as progression-free survival (PFS), complete response, partial response (PR), progressive disease (PD), stable disease and adverse events (AEs) were analyzed. The meta-analysis was performed using RevMan 5.4 software. A total of seven studies involving 682 patients were included (384 patients who received ICI + RT vs. RT and 298 patients who received ICI + RT vs. ICI alone). No significant difference in PFS was demonstrated between the ICI + RT group and the RT group (heterogeneity: χ2=2.35; df=1; P=0.13; I2=57% and test for overall effect: Z=0.10; P=0.92). Conversely, patients in the ICI alone group had significantly decreased PR rates (heterogeneity: Τ2=0.00; χ2=2.13; df=3; P=0.54; I2=0% and test for overall effect: Z=2.57; P=0.01) compared with patients in the ICI + RT group. The ICI + RT group also had significantly lower rates of PD (heterogeneity: Τ2=0.00; χ2=0.91; df=3; P=0.82; I2=0% and test for overall effect: Z=2.52; P=0.01) compared with the ICI alone group. Safety analysis revealed no significant difference between patients who received ICI + RT and those who received RT in terms of grade 1 or 2 AEs. In conclusion, the combination of ICIs + RT demonstrates promising efficacy and safety for patients with metastatic NSCLC.
