Abstract

Reflectance difference spectroscopy is used for analyzing the evolution of InAs layer grown at different temperatures in GaAs matrix. The two- to three-dimensional growth transition of InAs layer has shown that the transition energies and the in-plane optical anisotropy of InAs wetting layer has displayed abrupt changes.

Abstract

A comprehensive study on the well-width dependence of in-plane optical anisotropy (IPOA) in (001) GaAs/[Al.sub.x][Ga.sub.1-x]As quantum wells induced by in-plane uniaxial strain and interface asymmetry is presented. The results from theoretical calculations provide insight into the different well-width dependence of IPOA induced by in-plane uniaxial strain and interface asymmetry.

Abstract

The anisotropic exchange splitting (AES) and the degree of polarization are obtained from the reflectance difference spectroscopy. The small uniaxial strains have influenced the hole-mixing interaction of quantum wells, but have almost no contribution to the electron-hole exchange interaction.
