In this study, nine component points were designed based on a CaO‐B2O3‐SiO2 (CBS) glass system with a high boron content, and CBS glass/Al2O3 composites were developed for low‐temperature co‐fired ceramic (LTCC) applications. Furthermore, the densification process, phase compositions, microstructures, and properties were investigated. The results indicated that the softening of glass and interfacial reaction between the glass and Al2O3 were the two most important factors affecting LTCC's densification process. The real‐time shrinkage rate of LTCC during sintering was simulated using the thermal shrinkage curve and combined with DTA and X‐ray diffraction. It was proven that the formation of the CaAl2(BO3)O phase contributed to the reduction in glass viscosity and promoted the formation of a dense structure. The LTCC composite with 30 vol% glass sintered at 850°C exhibited a coefficient of thermal expansion of 4.55–6.35 ppm/◦C, εr of 3.5–5.0, and a minimum tan δ of 0.0018 at 15 GHz. The amorphous LiPON thin film was obtained by using the crystalline Li3PO4 target and the RF magnetron sputtering method at a N2 working pressure of 1 Pa. and then the morphology and composition of LiPON thin films are analysed by SEM and EDS. SEM shows that the film was compact and smooth, while EDS shows that the content of N in LiPON thin film was about 17.47%. The electrochemical properties of Pt/LiPON/Pt were analysed by EIS, and the ionic conductivity of LiPON thin films was 3.8×10-7 S/cm. By using the hard mask in the magnetron sputtering process, the all-solid-state thin film battery with Si/Ti/Pt/LiCoO2/LiPON/Li4Ti5O12/Pt structure was prepared, and its electrical properties were studied. As for this thin film battery, the open circuit voltage was 1.9 V and the first discharge specific capacity was 34.7 μAh/cm2·μm at a current density of 5 μA/cm-2, indicating that is promising in all-solidstate thin film batteries.

PbO-SrO-Na2O-Nb2O5-SiO2 (PSNNS) glass ceramic thin films were prepared by pulsed laser deposition technology on heavily doped silicon substrates. The influence of annealing temperatures on microstructures, dielectric properties and energy storage performances of the as-prepared films were investigated in detail. X-ray diffraction studies indicate that Pb2Nb2O7 crystallizes at 800°C and disappears at 900°C, while NaNbO3 and PbNb2O6 are formed at the higher temperature of 900°C. The dielectric properties of the glass ceramics thin films have a strong dependence on the phase assemblages that are developed during heat treatment. The maximum dielectric constant value of 171 was obtained for the film annealed at 800°C, owing to the high electric breakdown field strength, The energy storage densities of the PSNNS films annealed at 800°C were as large as 36.9 J/cm3, These results suggest that PSNNS thin films are promising for energy storage applications. All-solid-state batteries (ASSBs) are attractive for energy storage, mainly because introducing solid-state electrolytes significantly improves the battery performance in terms of safety, energy density, process compatibility, etc., compared with liquid electrolytes. However, the ionic conductivity of the solid-state electrolyte and the interface between the electrolyte and the electrode are two key factors that limit the performance of ASSBs. In this work, we investigated the structure of a Li0.33La0.55TiO3 (LLTO) thin-film solid electrolyte and the influence of different interfaces between LLTO electrolytes and electrodes on battery performance. The maximum ionic conductivity of the LLTO was 7.78 × 10−5 S/cm. Introducing a buffer layer could drastically improve the battery charging and discharging performance and cycle stability. Amorphous SiO2 allowed good physical contact with the electrode and the electrolyte, reduced the interface resistance, and improved the rate characteristics of the battery. The battery with the optimized interface could achieve 30C current output, and its capacity was 27.7% of the initial state after 1000 cycles. We achieved excellent performance and high stability by applying the dense amorphous SiO2 buffer layer, which indicates a promising strategy for the development of ASSBs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

As flexible all-solid-state batteries are highly safe and light weight, they can be considered as candidates for wearable energy sources. However, their performance needs to be first improved, which can be done by using highly conductive solid-state electrolytes. Herein, we prepare a crystallized and amorphous LLTO electrolyte through magnetron sputtering and investigate the effect of heat treatment on its ionic conductivity. The maximum ionic conductivity of the electrolyte is 9.44 × 10-5 S cm-1 at 140 °C. Electrode fracture after multiple cycles is the chief reason for the failure of solid-state batteries. To improve their cycle performance, we use LiNi0.5Co0.3Mn0.2O2 (NCM) with a volume change rate of 5% as the cathode and LTO with a volume change rate of 2% as the anode. A battery with a high output voltage using an internal series is prepared to enhance its application value. The output voltage of a single-layer NCM/LLTO/LTO battery is 2-2.4 V, while that of a two-layer NCM/LLTO/LTO battery can be 4.8 V in series. Owing to the small volume change rate of the electrode, the battery can be cycled up to 500 times, and the capacity of the battery remains at 89.2% of the initial state even after bending.
