Compacted graphite iron (CGI) is a critical material in today's automotive and manufacturing industries. Heat treatment processes can improve CGI wear properties, related primarily to microstructural changes. In this study, single and double tempering heat treatments were used to improve the wear properties of CGI. Oil quenching was performed after 90 minutes of austenitization at 900°C, followed by 60 minutes of single and double tempering at three different temperatures (315, 350, and 375°C). The wear performance of the samples was compared using a pin-on disc test and hardness measurements. The volume loss and friction coefficient were evaluated, and wear maps were constructed to determine the samples' wear behavior. SEM and EDS analyses were carried out to worn surfaces to interpret the relationship between wear mechanism and microstructure. According to the study's findings, double tempering heat treatment may optimize wear performance better than traditional single tempering, and structures with high toughness-wear resistance combinations can be obtained., Vermiküler dökme demir (VDD), günümüzün otomotiv ve imalat endüstrilerinde kritik bir malzemedir. Isıl işlem süreçleri, büyük ölçüde mikroyapısal değişikliklerle ilgili olan VDD aşınma özelliklerini iyileştirebilmektedir. Bu çalışmada, VDD'nin aşınma özelliklerini iyileştirmek için tek ve çift temperleme ısıl işlemleri kullanılmıştır. 900°C'de 90 dakikalık östenitleme ve yağda su vermeden sonra üç farklı sıcaklıkta (315, 350 ve 375°C) 60 dakika süreyle tek ve çift temperleme uygulanmıştır. Numunelerin aşınma performansı, pin-on disk testi ve sertlik ölçümleri kullanılarak karşılaştırılmıştır. Numunelerin aşınma davranışını belirlemek için hacim kaybı ve sürtünme katsayısı incelenmiş, ayrıca aşınma haritaları oluşturulmuştur. Aşınma mekanizmaları ile mikro yapı arasındaki ilişkiyi yorumlamak için aşınma yüzeylerine SEM ve EDS analizleri uygulanmıştır. Çalışmanın bulgularına göre, çift temperleme ısıl işlemiyle aşınma performansının geleneksel tek tavlamaya göre daha iyi optimize edilebileceği ve yüksek tokluk-aşınma direnci kombinasyonuna sahip yapılar elde edilebileceği belirlenmiştir.

Mould steels have short service life because of subjected to continuous impact loadings. So several industrial surface treatments are used to improve hardness and wear resistance such as gas nitriding/nitrocarburizing/carbonitriding. In this study, gas nitriding and nitrocarburizing (GN+NC), and carbonitriding (CN) processes were carried out to D2 mould steel in industrial conditions, and the results were investigated by comparing the hardness and wear properties. Nitrided and untreated samples subjected to microstructural investigation, hardness measurements and dry sliding wear tests. As a result of the experimental studies, it was found that different nitriding processes significantly enhanced wear resistance of the samples.

Alüminyum alaşımlarının döküm yoluyla üretilmesindeki önemli kusurlardan birisi sıcak yırtılmadır. Bu çalışmada, farklı özelliklere sahip 1050 ve 5083 döküm alaşımlarının sıcak yırtılmaları araştırılmış ve sıcak yırtılmaya neden olan tasarım parametreleri ile döküm koşulları belirlenmiştir. Ayrıca sıcak yırtılmanın metalografik ve mekanik özellikler üzerindeki etkileri de araştırılmıştır. Bununla birlikte, Vakum Altında Katılaşma Testi (VAKT) ile bifilm indeks ölçümleri gerçekleştirilerek sıcak yırtılmanın metal kalitesi üzerindeki etkileri, döküm alaşımlarının yapısındaki porozitelerin varlığına bağlı olarak incelenmiştir. Son olarak, döküm alaşımlarının doğal frekans analizleri ve titreşim testleri yapılmış, serbest titreşim ve burkulma karakteristikleri farklı sınır koşulları altında ayrı ayrı incelenmiştir., One of the major defects in the production of aluminum alloys by casting is hot tearing. In this study, hot tearing of 1050 and 5083 casting alloys with different properties were investigated and the design parameters and casting conditions caused hot tearing were determined. In addition, the effects of hot tearing on metallographic and mechanical properties were also investigated. In addition, the effects of hot tear on metal quality were investigated depending on the presence of porosities in the structure of the casting alloys by performing bifilm index measurements with the RPT method. Finally, natural frequency analyzes and vibration tests of casting alloys were carried out, and free vibration and buckling characteristics were investigated separately under different boundary conditions.

In this study; high purity iron (Fe) powders were pressed and subjected to BoroSintering (B/S) at 950 °C and 1050 °C for 4 and 6 hours in solid medium. The sintering process, which is one of the main steps in Powder Metallurgy (P/M), was carried out simultaneously with the boriding process. By this way the boriding and sintering processes (B/S) were completed in a single step and the possible oxide phases in microstructure were also decreased. After B/S process, hardness measurements were carried out by microvickers (HV0.05) method and hardness profiles and coating qualities were investigated. Samples were subjected to microstructure analyses by optical microscopy (OM) and field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) and energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS). As a result of the study, it was determined that a homogeneous microstructure could be obtained by applying B/S process to the samples produced by P/M method using high purity Fe powders. It was seen that B/S process can be applied successfully to provide the desired conditions in the microstructure from the obtained hardness profiles., Bu çalışmada; yüksek saflıkta demir (Fe) tozları preslenmiş ve katı ortamda 4 ve 6 saat boyunca 950°C’de ve 1050°C’de Boro-Sinterleme işlemine (B/S) tabi tutulmuştur. TozMetalürjisindeki (T/M) ana adımlardan biri olan sinterleme işlemi, borlama işlemi ile aynı anda gerçekleştirilmiştir. Bu sayede borlama ve sinterleme işlemleri tek adımda tamamlanmış ve mikroyapıdaki muhtemel oksit fazları da azaltılmıştır. B/S işleminden sonra sertlik ölçümleri microvickers (HV0.05) yöntemi ile yapılmış ve sertlik profilleri ve kaplama özellikleri incelenmiştir. Numuneler optik mikroskop (OM) ve alan emisyon taramalı elektron mikroskobu (FESEM) ve enerji dağıtıcı spektroskopisi (EDS) ile mikroyapı analizlerine tabi tutulmuştur. Çalışma sonucunda, yüksek saflıkta Fe tozları kullanarak T/M yöntemiyle üretilen numunelere B/S işlemi uygulanarak homojen bir mikroyapının elde edilebileceği belirlenmiştir. Elde edilen sertlik profillerinden mikroyapıda istenen koşulları sağlamak için B/S işleminin başarıyla uygulanabileceği görülmüştür.

In this study, the effect of melt quality and quenching temperature on the mechanical properties of 2024, 6063 and 7075 was investigated. The alloys were produced by Strain Induced Melt Activated (SIMA) method. T6 heat treatment was carried out by quenching in two different temperatures: 20 °C and 80 °C. Scanning electron microscope analyses were carried out on the fracture surfaces. In addition, reduced pressure tests were carried out to correlate the mechanical test results with metal quality. The results were analysed by Weibull statistics. It was found that samples quenched at 80 °C showed better mechanical properties and there was a good correlation between bifilm index and Weibull distributions. © 2015 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. Alüminyum alaşımlarının yüksek sıcaklık oksidasyonu (High Temperature Oxidation-HTO), ısıl işlem proseslerinde önemli bir yer tutar. Teori; bozunmanın, yüksek sıcaklıklarda uzun bir süre su buharına maruz kalmanın bir sonucu olarak ve ayrıca metalin içine difüze olmak suretiyle hidrojen porlarını oluşturan ve böylece yüzeyin hemen altında porozite ve blisterlere yol açan hidrojeni serbest hale getiren oksidasyon prosesi ile sonuçlandığını ileri sürmektedir. Bu hataların bazıları, işleme (talaş kaldırma) sırasında ortadan kalksa da, bu alt yüzey porozitelerinin fazlaca bulunması yüksek miktarda döküntülere (pullanma) neden olabilir. Bu nedenle, bu çalışmada alüminyum alaşımlarının ısıl işlemleri boyunca oluşan blisterlerin tam bir incelemesi yapılmıştır. Çalışmada, literatürde ilk kez olarak, bifilmlerin (double film-çift film) varlığının ve metal kalitesinin blisterlerin boyutu ve morfolojisine etkileri incelenmiştir. High temperature oxidation (HTO) of aluminium alloys has been a major problem feature of heat treatment processes. The theory suggests that degradation as a result of long time exposure to high temperatures in the presence of water vapour results in oxidation process which releases hydrogen that diffuses into metal to form hydrogen pores; thus leading to subsurface porosity or blisters. Although some of these defects could be removed during machining, higher population of these subsurface pores may lead to high number of scraps. Therefore, in this study, a thorough examination of the blister formation during heat treatment of aluminium alloys was investigated. For the first time, the effect of metal quality and presence of bifilms on the size and morphology of blisters were examined. 174

V Dökme Demirden İmal Edilen Hadde Merdanelerinin Aşınma Davranışına Bakır Katkı Oranının Etkisi ÖZET Hadde merdanesi kullanımında karşılaşılan en büyük problemlerden birisi hadde merdanelerinin aşınmasıdır. Merdanelerin aşınma direncine alaşım elementlerinin etkisi büyüktür. Alaşım elementi miktarlarında yapılacak ayarlamalar ile bu problemin giderilmesi mümkün olabilmektedir. Bu çalışmada; hadde merdanelerinin aşınmasına bakır oranının etkisi deneysel olarak incelenmiştir. Hadde merdanelerinin çalışma koşulları esas alınarak altı farklı bakır içeriğine sahip lamel grafitli dökme demir numuneler, pin-on-disc (disk üzeri pim) aşınma deney yöntemine göre metal-metal aşınma deneylerine tabi tutulmuş ve sonuçlar irdelenmiştir. Bu çalışmanın ilk bölümünde dökme demirlerin aşınması üzerine daha önceki yapılan çalışmalar incelenmiş ve çalışmanın amacı belirtilmiştir. İkinci bölümünde dökme demirlerin metalürjisi tanımlanmış ve dökme demir sınıflandırmaları hakkında bilgiler verilmiştir. Üçüncü bölümde, deneysel çalışmaların ana malzemesini oluşturan lamel grafitli dökme demirlere alaşım elementlerinin (detaylı olarak bakırın) etkisi incelenmiş ve alaşım elementlerinin birlikte etkisi irdelenmiştir. Dördüncü bölümde, tasarımından malzeme seçimine, döküm teknolojilerinden kalite kontrollerine kadar hadde merdaneleri her yönüyle ele alınmış, piyasadaki kullanım örneklerine yer verilmiştir. Beşinci bölümde deneysel çalışmalar detaylıca verilmiştir. Altıncı bölümde ise deneysel sonuçlar ortaya konmuştur. Çalışmanın yedinci ve son bölümünde ise deneysel sonuçlar genel olarak değerlendirilmiştir. Effect of alloy elements to wear behaviour of rolls is so many. Solving this problems can be possible by adjustment of alloy elements amounts. One of alloy elements used for rolls is copper. In this study, materials used in manufacturing rolling rolls, their constructive properties and their casting methods have been investigated. Furthermore, it has been investigated the effect of adding ratio of copper to wear behavior on the chosen casting iron materials with lamellar graphite. Metal-metal wear experiments have been conducted by using different copper contents in cast iron materials and results had been commented on. In first section of study; it had been investigated previous studies about wear of cast iron and determined aim of this study. In second section; it had been identified metallurgy of cast iron and had been done classification of cast irons. In third section; it had been investigated effect of alloy elements to wear behaviour of lamellar graphite cast iron (especially copper) and commented on effect of alloy elements with each other. In fourth section; rolls from construction to choosing of material, from casting technologies to quality contrails had been investigated by all direction and determined using examples in different sectors. 1 - OZ Bu çalışmada, Menderes vadisinde sürekli pamuk yetiştirilen alanlarda, farklı kışlık ara ürün yem bitkilerinin iki hasat zamanında ot verimleri ve kalite özellikleri araştırılmıştır. Ayrıca, yem bitkilerinin ardından gelen geleneksel ya da işlemesiz olarak ekilen pamuğun bazı verim unsurları üzerine etkisi de belirlenmiştir. Adnan Menderes Üniversitesi Ziraat Fakültesi Araştırma ve Uygulama tarlalarında 1997-1998 ve 1999-2000 üretim sezonlarında, bölünmüş parseller deneme deseninde üç tekrarlamalı olarak yürütülen çalışmada; yem bitkisi denemesinde hasat zamanlan (nisan ortası ve nisan sonu) ana parselleri, 6 yem bitkisi tür veya çeşidi ile bunların yulaf (Avena sativa L.) ile karışımları da alt parselleri oluşturmuştur. Yembitkisi denemesinin ardından kurulan pamuk denemesinde de nisan ortası hasadım takiben sürülerek ve nisan sonu hasadım takiben toprak işlemesiz yapılan ekimler ana parselleri, ön bitki olarak kullanılan yembitkisi türleri de alt parselleri oluşturmuştur. Yembitkileri nisan sonunda hasat edildiğinde kuru madde ve ham protein verimlerinde artışlar olmuştur. Nisan ortası ve nisan sonu hasatlarında, ilk yıl yine sırasıyla 366 ve 657 kg/da kuru madde ile 42 ve 84 kg/da ham protein verimi alınırken, ikinci yıl yine sırasıyla 635 ve 763 kg/da kuru madde ile 93 ve 107 kg/da ham protein verimi elde edilmiştir. Yembitkilerinin karışık ekimleri yalın ekimlerinden daha fazla verim verirken en yüksek yeşil ot ve kuru madde verimlerini Efes-79 çeşidinin yulafla karışımı vermiş ve onu META-3 izlemiştir. Pamuk denemesine ait sonuçlar değerlendirildiğinde, ön bitki olan yem bitkilerinin ve bunların hasat zamanının pamukta verim unsurlarında istatistik olarak önemli farklılıklara neden olmamıştır. Sonuç olarak, bölgemizde Efes-79 (Vida villosa Rom. var. glabrescensYxxa. yulafla olan karışımının kaba yenlinin kaliteli ve yüksek verimli olduğu, ayrıca yembitkisi hasadım takiben, yembitkisi anızı üzerine toprak işlemesi yapılmaksızın pamuk ekilmesinin pamuk verimini azaltmadığı kanısına varılmıştır. Anahtar Kelimeler: Adi fiğ, tüylü fiğ, karışım, yulaf, pamuk, işlemesiz. - II - ABSTRACT This study aims to explore the yield and quality attributes of various winter inter-crop fodder plants in the cotton fields of Menderes Valley, Turkey. This study also evaluates the effects of sowing cotton conventionally and without tillage on cotton yield and lint quality characteristics. This research is conducted in the experiment fields of the Field Crops Department of Faculty of Agriculture at Adnan Menderes University in 1997-1998 and 1999-2000 periods. A field experiment was conducted as a randomized complete block design with three replications. The plots were split based on harvest date (such as mid-April and late-April). And six fodder plants and their mixtures with oat constituted the subplots. In the cotton experiment that was conduced after the fodder plant harvest, conventional sowing following mid- April harvest, and sowing without any tillage treatment after late-April harvest formed the main plots. Those fodder plants used, as initial plantation constituted the subplots. When the fodder plants harvested at the end of April, an increase in the dry matter and crude protein yield occurred. In mid-April and late-April harvest dates, 366 kg/da and 657 kg/da dry matter and 42 kg/ha and 84 kg/ha crude protein yield obtained in the first year of the experiment respectively. In the second year the dry matter numbers increased to 635 kg/ha and 763 kg/da for dry matter, and 93 kg/ha and 107 kg/da for crude protein yield. Mix sowing of fodder plants was resulted higher yield than their sole planting. The highest fresh and dry fodder yields were obtained from mixture of Efes-79 with oat followed by META-3. In terms of the results of cotton experiment, those fodder plants used as initial plantation and their harvest time has no statistically significant effect on the cotton yield. As conclusion, the mixture of Efes-79 with oat generates high quality and yield crude fodder, and the cotton sowing without any tillage of fodder plant residue does not decrease the cotton yield in our region Keywords: Common vetch, hairy vetch, mixture, oats, cotton, no-tillage. 125

Bu çalışmada sıcak presleme üretim yöntemi ile ağırlıkça değişik oranlarda (% 0-5-10-15-20) Al2O3 parçacık içeren AA6061 matrisli kompozit malzemeler üretilmiştir. Karışım tozlar 3 boyutlu karıştırıcıda hazırlanmıştır. Karışım tozlar özel olarak tasarlanmış sıcak presleme kalıbı kullanılarak 450 °C sıcaklıkta iki farklı basınç altında (100 MPa ve 200 MPa) 30 dakika süre ile sıcak presleme işlemine tabi tutulmuştur. Sıcak presleme sonrası AA6061/Al2O3 kompozitlere F ısıl işlemi ve T6 suni yaşlandırma ısıl işlemi uygulanmıştır. Yaşlandırma ısıl işlemi uygulanan ve uygulanmayan kompozitlerin ağırlıkça takviye miktarına göre teorik ve deneysel yoğunlukları belirlenmiştir. Al2O3 seramik parçacıkların matris yapı içerisindeki dağılımları optik mikroskop yardımı ile belirlenmiştir. Takviye oranının mikroyapı özelliklerine etkisini belirlemek ve Al2O3 parçacıklarının matris yapı ile arayüzey uyumları (ıslatma durumu) için, mikroyapılar Taramalı Elektron Mikroskobunda (SEM) incelenmiştir. Ağırlıkça % Al2O3 miktarına göre (% 0-5-10-15-20), uygulanan basınca göre (100 MPa ve 200 MPa) ve ısıl işlem durumuna göre (F ve T6) sertlik değişimleri belirlenmiştir. Üretilen metal matrisli kompozit malzemelerin mekanik özelliklerini belirlemek amacı ile çekme dayanımı, çapraz kırılma dayanımı, V-çentik darbe dayanımı ve aşınma özellikleri incelenmiştir. Çapraz kırılma deney numunelerinin kırık yüzeylerine hasar analizi (SEM ile) yapılarak, takviye oranı kırılma mekaniği açısından irdelenmiştir.ANAHTAR KELİMELER: Toz Metalurjisi, Alüminyum, Al2O3, Mekanik özellikler, Sıcak Presleme, Kompozit In this study, Al6061 matrix composite materials with Al2O3 particles were produced at different weights (% 0-5-10-15-20) by hot pressing production method. Mixture powders were prepared in 3 dimensional mixer. The blend powders were hot-pressed at 450 ° C under two different pressures (100 MPa and 200 MPa) for 30 minutes using specially designed hot pressing mold. F and T6 aging heat treatments were applied to AA6061 / Al2O3 composites after hot pressing. The theoretical and experimental densities of the composites with and without aging heat treatment were determined according to the amount of reinforcement. The distribution of Al2O3 ceramic particles in the matrix structure was determined with the aid of an optical microscope. Microstructures were investigated in the Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) for determining the effect of the reinforcement ratio on the microstructure properties and for the interfacial compatibility (wetting state) of the Al2O3 particles with the matrix structure. Hardness changes were determined according to the amount of Al2O3 % (0-5-10-15-20%), the applied pressure (100 MPa and 200 MPa) and the heat treatment conditions (F and T6). To determine the mechanical properties of the produced metal matris composite materials, tensile strength, tranfer rupture, cross-break strength, v-notch impact strength and wear characteristics were investigated.
