Treatment of chronic sinusitis maxillaris is laris. 1)A total of 80 cases consisting of 6 cases of ted revealing 63 cases(about80%)to be effective. 2)A total of 20 cases consisting of 8 cases of 8 cases of chronic sinusitis ethmoidalis, 3 cases of chronic sinusitis maxillaris with polyps, 4 cases of nasalpolyps and 5 cases of cellulitis ethmbidalis postoperatively resulting in a faster recovery than ordinary procedures.

Mostly proteolytic enzymes have been adminstered systemically through an paraenteral route with some adverse effects including hemorrhage. On developing oral administration of Pronase-P this method was studied in reference to hemorrhage. As a result, only 19 cases out of 708 cases haveshown slight clinically adverse effects including only slight hemorrhage. Acceleratin of healing of the wound was obtained by intraintestinal administration of the drug to rats in which a 3cm wound was inflicted.

Acceleration and deceleration tests are performed on 100 subjects who are free from possiple motion sickness in an attempt to define physiological permissible limits on a comfort index basis. The observation was made on the CO2in the blood, alveolar air and expiratory air of rabbit and man, before and after the injection of 7% sodium bicarbonate solution. CO2 level showed an elevation starting during the injection and lasted for several minutes. Respiratory movement was also increased. Those changes disappeased in 10∼20 minutes after of the injection of sodi- um bicarbonate solution.

1) Audiometry was done with 120 normal persons, 20 persons out of each generation from the 2nd to the 7th decade. Biochemical studies were made in Pronase-Porally administered cases of chronic sinusitis maxillaris to clarify the drug's healing mechanism which has been only partially reported. Of the various kinds of proteolytic enzymes those with powerful hydrolysis seem favorable for a pus-dissolving action in clinical use. In this report, Pronase-P is found to be most satisfactory, followed by a-chymotripsin and Varidase in descending order.In cases where responses to a single oral administration of Pronase-P were not seen, favorabe results were obtained with a combined administration of antibiotics.

The clinical improvement of sinusitis maxillaris following oral treatment with Pronase-P.described in the previous report led to a pathological review of nasal mucosa. 1)Instillation of Pronase-P into the maxillary sinus for 8 cases of chronic sinusitis maxillaris resulted in symptomatic improvement in almost Ited in a marked symptomatic improvement. 2)Nine cases of chronic sinusitis maxillaris with bilateral involvement of the same degree were plus Predonine to 2 cases for a week and then method for the removal of nasal mucosae. It was found that there was a decrease of edma in mucosae, a diminuion of intrasinus pus and an side. 3)Sixteen cases of chronic sinusitis maxillris were laterally operated on immediately followed side was operate on each 6days, 9days, 12days, 15days and 18days later. It was revealed the efficacy of Pronase-P was not so significant within a week of administration but reflected less retention of the intrasinus pus, a decrease in mucosal edema, infiltration of round after the first week.
