駒澤大学には多数の外邦図が所蔵されているが，長らく未整理のままであった。2004年から，地理学科の有志の学生と教員は「駒澤マップアーカイブズ」というグループを組織し，外邦図の整理を始めた。活動の成果として，『駒澤大学所蔵外邦図目録』（初版2011 年，第2版2016年）を発行したり，駒澤大学禅文化歴史博物館で外邦図の展示会を開催したり，オータムフェスティバル（大学祭）で活動成果を展示し発表している。駒澤大学における外邦図の整理や目録作成，研究成果の発表などの諸活動は，学生が主体的に取り組んでいることが特徴である。目録作成の作業をとおして，駒澤大学には外邦図の陸図が約8,000図幅，9,500枚，海図が約1,000図幅，1,000枚所蔵されていることがわかった。その大部分は，元教授の多田文男氏より寄贈されたものと考えられる。また，駒澤大学には，他大学が未所蔵の外邦図が多数所蔵されている可能性があること，および主に多田によって彩色や書き込みがされた外邦図が約1,000枚あることが確認された。, Gaihozu are maps of the areas outside the Japanese territory prepared by former Japanese military and published from the Meiji period until the end of World War II. Komazawa University holds a large number of Gaihozu, which remained unclassified for a long time. In 2004, volunteer students and faculty members of the Department of Geography organized a group “Komazawa Map Archives” (KMA), to classify and arrange the Gaihozu. The KMA published Gaihozu Catalog of the Komazawa University Collection (first edition in 2011, second edition in 2016), and held exhibitions of Gaihozu at the Museum of Zen Culture and History and at the autumn school festivals of Komazawa University. It is a characteristic of Komazawa University that students have taken the initiative in various activities such as arranging Gaihozu, publishing catalogs and presenting research results.The work of publishing the catalogs confirmed that Komazawa University has a large collection of Gaihozu, comprising approximately eight thousand land maps and one thousand charts. Most of them are thought to have been donated by former Professor Tada Fumio. In addition, it was found that Komazawa University may have hundreds of Gaihozu, which other universities do not hold, and there are approximately one thousand Gaihozu, which were colored and written in mainly by Prof. Tada.

子宮筋腫は年齢と共に有病率が増加する。それ故、近年における晩婚化や出産年齢の高齢化に伴い、子宮筋腫合併妊娠も増加傾向にある。比較的大きな子宮筋腫が子宮下部にある場合、経腟分娩困難と判断され帝王切開が選択される症例も少なくないと考えられる。 子宮筋腫の位置及び大きさと経腟分娩の可否について検討するため、当院の外来にて経腟分娩困難となる可能性があると判断された子宮筋腫合併妊娠で、妊娠後期に核磁気共鳴画像法(Magnetic Resonance Imaging:以下MRI)が撮影された6症例に対して後方視的に検討した。6症例中5症例で経腟分娩が可能であったが、子宮体下部後壁に長径90mmの子宮筋腫を認めた1例は、妊娠41週で予定日超過のため誘発を開始したが、分娩停止のため帝王切開による分娩となった。帝王切開の1例を他の5例と比較すると、年齢、妊娠週数、子宮筋腫の大きさに特記すべき差異を認めないが、子宮筋腫の位置がほぼ正中で、かつ子宮筋腫の下端が内子宮口よりも低位であるとの特徴を認めた。逆に、長径70〜120mmの子宮下部筋腫が存在してもその位置が正中から偏心している場合や、位置が正中でも下端が内子宮口よりも高位であれば、経腟分娩が可能であった。

Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common arrhythmia in the United States, affecting approximately 1 in 10 adults, and its prevalence is expected to rise as the population ages. Treatment options for AF are limited; moreover, the development of new treatments is hindered by limited (1) knowledge regarding human atrial electrophysiological endpoints (e.g., conduction velocity [CV]) and (2) accurate experimental models. Here, we measured the CV and refractory period, and subsequently calculated the conduction wavelength, in vivo (four subjects with AF and four controls), and ex vivo (atrial slices from human hearts). Then, we created an in vitro model of human atrial conduction using induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells. This model consisted of iPS-derived human atrial cardiomyocytes plated onto a micropatterned linear 1D spiral design of Matrigel. The CV (34-41 cm/s) of the in vitro model was nearly five times faster than 2D controls (7-9cm/s) and similar to in vivo (40-64 cm/s) and ex vivo (28-51 cm/s) measurements. Our iPS-derived in vitro model recapitulates key features of in vivo atrial conduction and may be a useful methodology to enhance our understanding of AF and model patient-specific disease.

In 2020, the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) in Japan2 and the Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (TGO) implemented the Mutual Learning Program for Enhanced Transparency (MLP) with financial support from the Ministry of the Environment, Japan. In the MLP, participants from the two organisations engaged in drafting exercises on Article 6.2 reporting in accordance with the draft guidance.

BACKGROUND: Exacerbation-prone asthma is a feature of severe disease. However, the basis for its persistency remains unclear.OBJECTIVES: To determine the clinical and transcriptomic features of frequent exacerbators (FEs) and persistent FEs (PFEs) in the U-BIOPRED cohort.METHODS: We compared features of FE (≥2 exacerbations in past year) to infrequent exacerbators (IE, RESULTS: Of 317 patients, 62.4% had FE, of whom 63.6% had PFE, while 37.6% had IE, of whom 61.3% had PIE. Using multivariate analysis, FE was associated with short-acting beta-agonist use, sinusitis and daily oral corticosteroid use, while PFE was associated with eczema, short-acting beta-agonist use and asthma control index. CEA cell adhesion molecule 5 (CEACAM5) was the only differentially expressed transcript in bronchial biopsies between PE and IE. There were no differentially expressed genes in the other four compartments. There were higher expression scores for type 2, T-helper type-17 and type 1 pathway signatures together with those associated with viral infections in bronchial biopsies from FE compared to IE, while there were higher expression scores of type 2, type 1 and steroid insensitivity pathway signatures in bronchial biopsies of PFE compared to PIE.CONCLUSION: The FE group and its PFE subgroup are associated with poor asthma control while expressing higher type 1 and type 2 activation pathways compared to IE and PIE, respectively.

The objective of this paper is to explain elements that are related to credit credibility and high quality carbon credits to buyers (private companies) who are considering the use of offset credits. These elements could serve as a general guidance and should be considered when purchasing offset credits from voluntary carbon markets (VCMs). In addition, in the paper we highlight the risks related to those elements that would undermine the quality of carbon credits. We also describe how independent crediting mechanisms can reduce those risks, which credit buyers should take into consideration when selecting high quality offset credits.
