To increase the agricultural production, nano fertilizers have allowed the development of new technologies. In this study, zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO-NPs), iron oxide nanoparticles (FeO-NPs) and magnesium oxide nanoparticles (MgO-NPs) have been prepared and applied on the medicinal plants (Caesalpinia bonducella) to increase the yield, nutrient and chlorophyll contents. This study intended to compare the impacts of synthesised NPs with the control plants and their conventional fertilizers such as ZnSO4·7H2O (Zn-bulk), FeSO4·7H2O (Fe-bulk) and MgSO4·7H2O (Mg-bulk). All fertilizers were applied in a completely randomized design including six treatments and three replications of each treatment by using a combination of seed priming method and soil mixing process. Moreover, the NPs were also compared for the best gaining of results. The concentrations selected for applications were 10, 20, 30, 40 ppm for iron and magnesium fertilizers and 25, 50, 75, 100 ppm for zinc-based fertilizers. The results indicated the increase in morphological parameters of the plants of 28–50% by the application of conventional fertilizers while 50–93% by NPs application as compared to control plants. Furthermore, the increase in chlorophyll contents was 5–28% with conventional fertilizers while 30–80% in case of NPs application than control plants. The obtained results indicate that the best increase in growth, nutrient and chlorophyll contents of plants were achieved at the dose concentrations of 40 ppm for Mg and Fe fertilizers and 100 ppm for Zn fertilizers. The comparative study of NPs showed that the highest growth and yield was obtained by the use of ZnO-NPs in comparison to others. Finally, it is worth highlighting that NPs have a huge potential to increase the productivity of crops if applied in optimal concentrations.

The recent emergence of novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) triggered by Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) has resulted in substantial mortality worldwide. Presently, there is no approved treatment for COVID-19. Consequently, the clinical, scientific, and regulatory authorities have joint efforts to reduce the severe impact of COVID-19. To date, there is minimal arsenal with no definite curative drugs, licensed-vaccines, or therapeutic conducts to combat the COVID-19 infections. Keeping in view the threats of this pandemic, various global organizations, physicians, researchers, and scientists, are trying to recognize the epidemiological characteristics and pathogenic mechanisms of COVID-19 to discover potential treatment regimens, vaccines, and therapeutic modes for future anticipation. Herein, we summarize a contemporary overview of curative invasions and vaccines for COVID-19 based on the earlier information and considerate of similar earlier RNA coronaviruses. The information reviewed here establishes a paramount intellectual basis to promote ongoing research to develop vaccines and curative agents. Thus, this review suggests the furthermost accessible frontiers in the vaccine development to tackle or combat the COVID-19/SARS-CoV-2.

Coronaviruses are single-stranded RNA viruses that cause severe respiratory, enteric, and systemic infections in a vast range of hosts, including man, fish, mammals, and avian. Scientific interest has heightened on coronaviruses after the emergence of the 2019 novel Coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2). This review provides current perspectives on morphology, genetic diversity, transmission characteristics, replication cycle, diagnostic approaches, epidemiological assessment, and prevention strategies against the SARS-CoV-2. Moreover, different potential biotherapeutics such as small drug molecules, different vaccines, and immunotherapies to control severe acute respiratory infections caused by 2019 novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) are repurposed and discussed with different mechanistic approaches. The current growth trends of the SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19 outbreak globally and preventive measures are briefly discussed. Furthermore, the lessons learned from the COVID-19 outbreak, so far, concluding remarks and future directions for controlling for COVID-19, are also recommended for a safer tomorrow.

The ecological system is being threatened by the environmental risks related to soil and water pollution. The ecological integrity and environmental quality mandate the approaches and efforts to ensure safer monitoring of health system. A number of technologically advanced methodologies have been ameliorating the impact of toxic chemicals and heavy metals pollutants in the environment. In this regard, the colorimetric monitoring of heavy metal based analytes have extensively been investigated in a variety of fields including, environmental science biomedicine and food industry. Their wide range of applications owes from their ability to offer detection of these analytes with bare eye, high selectivity and sensitivity, facile synthesis and easy operating conditions. Herein, the recent advancement in the field of colorimetric detection based on chemically and biologically synthesized nanomaterials has been reviewed. Emerging biologically synthesized nanomaterials via eco-friendlier green routes and chemically synthesized nanomaterials offers a number of desirable features for the detection of target analyte.

The comparative utilization of solar thermal or photovoltaic systems has significantly increased to fulfill the requirement of electricity and heat since few decades. These hybrid systems produce both thermal and electrical energy simultaneously. In recent times, increasing interest is being redirected by researchers in exploiting variety of nanoparticles mixed with miscellaneous base fluids (hybrid nanofluid) for these hybrid systems. This new class of colloidal suspensions has many fascinating advantages as compared to conventional types of nanofluids because of their modified and superior rheological and thermophysical properties which makes them appealing for solar energy devices. Here, we have attempted to deliver an extensive overview of the synthetic methodologies of hybrid nanofluids and their potential in PV/T and solar thermal energy systems. A detailed comparison between conventional types of nanofluids and hybrid nanofluids has been carried out to present in-depth understanding of the advantages of the hybrid nanofluids. The documented reports reveal that enhanced thermal properties of hybrid nanofluids promise the increased performance of solar thermal PV/T systems. Additionally, the unique properties such as nanoparticles concentration and type of base fluid, etc. greatly influence the behavior of hybrid nanofluidic systems. Finally, the outlook, suggestions, and challenges for future research directions are discussed.

Novel therapeutic agents discovery have become crucial because humankind is experiencing issues regarding health and the environment. The present study is focusing on thrombolytic agents, which are therapeutics for cardiovascular diseases, eco-friendly, safe and can be used in comparison to synthetic agents that are associated with some side effects and their production is not environment friendly. The main objective of the present research was to evaluate the thrombolytic and cytotoxic potential of different extracts of Escherchia coli-ATCC35218. Soxhlet extraction method with ethanol was used for extraction from cells. Crude protein was extracted from the cell mass with protein extraction buffer. Crude isoprenoid quinone and polar lipids were extracted by using petroleum ether with methanol and chloroform as extraction solvent. In another method, the extracts were prepared using methanol as well as n-hexane, chloroform, ethyl acetate and water in serial extraction. These organic and aqueous extracts of E. coli were dried, weighed, dissolved in DMSO and tested for their hemolytic and thrombolytic potential. Mild to moderate percentage of thrombolytic activity was shown by these extracts and compared with citric acid (standard). Chloroform, ethyl acetate and methanol soluble extracts showed significant thrombolytic activities that were 43.5% ​± ​0.06, 41.8% ​± ​0.16 and 40.5% ​± ​0.07 respectively, while citric acid showed 73.7% ​± ​0.05. Maximum hemolytic activities were shown by polar lipids, crude methanol extract and n-hexane that are 87.20% ​± ​0.08, 82.5% ​± ​0.06 and 73.46%± ​0.08 respectively as compared with 0.1% Triton X-100 (positive control) with 94.75% ​± ​0.15 hemolysis. Finally, results were analyzed statistically through analysis of variance (ANOVA). Further studies on isolation and identification of bioactive thrombolytic agents from each bioactive thrombolytic extract will help us in reporting natural thrombolytic agents from E.coli that could benefit human medically. This is one of the few reports of thrombolytics available from natural sources.

Hybrid electric vehicles (HEV) can provide a same power as gasoline and diesel-powered vehicles while also reducing fuel consumption by 40–50%. However, due to a complex system of HEV, the power control strategies are used to improve the work efficiency, fuel economy and to reduce exhaust emissions. In the present work, four parameters are studied with the main focus on the optimization of power system of a parallel hybrid vehicle. These parameters are the influence of fuzzy logic algorithm on hybrid electric vehicle power train that is acceleration performance, climbing performance, engine efficiency and exhaust gas emissions. First, the vehicle’s power train is optimized using the Advanced Vehicle Simulator (ADVISOR). Secondly, by ensuring acceleration and climbing performance, the vehicle manufacturing cost is reduced by reducing the weight of the vehicle. Thirdly, two driving road test conditions, Extra-Urban Driving Cycle (EUDC) and Urban Dynamometer Driving Schedule (UDDS) are used to enhance the fuel consumption efficiency of the vehicle. Using a fuzzy logic algorithm for random operations, the operating range of an internal combustion engine is controlled as much as possible in the most efficient range. Through the control of 121 different algorithms, the operating efficiency of the powertrain is optimized to reduce exhaust emissions and improve fuel efficiency. The results showed that the proposed strategy can reduce fuel consumption by 5%, CO by 50% and improved the operating efficiency of engine by 15%. Not only this control strategy optimizes the efficiency of powertrain, but also the efficiency of the internal combustion engine. Moreover, the motor and battery pack itself can be optimized. These hybrid vehicles can minimize the fuel demand and are the best substitute for the classic internal combustion engines.

This is case report of 40 years female who presented at term and was co-infected with COVID-19. She had history of previous 3 C-sections so another C-section was performed due to fear of uterine rupture. Her surgery went uneventful. She recovered after surgery from COVID-19. Her infant also tested negative for COVID-19.

In recent years, metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) have received accelerating research attention as a versatile carrier and promising bio-immobilization support materials for enzyme immobilization. This is particularly due to their extraordinary structural properties and multi-functionalities, such as surface area, high porosity, tunable topography, crystallinity, electronic and optical properties, thermal/chemical stability and multiple affinities (hydrophobicity and hydrophilicity). Excellent biocatalytic performance, improved stability and repeatability, high loading ability, and greater accessibility to catalytic sites are the key attributes associated with the use of novel MOF–enzyme bio-composites. This review discusses the recent developments in the use of MOFs as immobilization support materials as a platform to engineer different kinds of enzymes with requisite functionalities for biocatalysis applications in different sectors of the modern world. The second part of the review mainly focuses on MOFs-assisted immobilization strategies including surface immobilization, covalent binding, cage inclusion and in situ MOF formation and enzyme immobilization to develop enzyme–MOF bio-catalytic system. The characteristic properties rendering MOFs as interesting matrices for bio-immobilization are also presented following applications of MOFs-immobilized bio-catalyst for catalysis, sensing and detection, and protein digestion. Lastly, the review is wrapped up with conclusions and an outlook in terms of upcoming challenges and prospects for their scale-up applications. The widespread occurrence and adverse environmental and health-related impacts of various types of emerging contaminants (ECs) have become an issue of high concern. With ever increasing scientific knowledge, socio-economic awareness, health-related problems and ecological apprehensions, people are more concerned about the widespread ECs, around the globe. Among ECs, biologically active compounds from pharmaceutical, cosmeceutical, biomedical, personal care products (PPCPs), endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs), and flame-retardants are of paramount concern. The presence and persistence of ECs in water bodies are of continued and burning interest, worldwide. Various types of ECs are being discharged knowingly/unknowingly with/without partial treatments into the aquatic environments that pose serious health issues and affects the entire living ecosystem. So far, various approaches have been developed for ECs degradation and removal to diminish their adverse impact. Many previous and/or ongoing studies have focused on contaminants degradation and efficient removal via numerous treatment strategies, i.e. (1) physical, (2) chemical and (3) biological. However, the experimental evidence is lacking to enable specific predictions about ECs mechanistic degradation and removal fate across various in-practice systems. In this context, the deployment oxidoreductases such as peroxidases (lignin peroxidases, manganese-dependent peroxidases, and horseradish peroxidase), aromatic dioxygenases, various oxygenases, laccases, and tyrosinases have received considerable research attention. Immobilization is highlighted as a promising approach to improve enzyme catalytic performance and stabilization, as well as, to protect the three-dimensional structure of the enzyme against the undesirable consequences of harsh reaction environment. This work overviews the current and state-of-the-art critical aspect related to hazardous pollutants at large and ECs in particular by the immobilized oxidoreductase enzymes. The first part of the review focuses on the occurrence, physiochemical behavior, potent sources and significant routes of ECs. Following that, environmentally-related adverse impacts and health-related issues of ECs are discussed in the second part. In the third part, biodegradation and removal strategies with a comparative overview of several conventional vs. non-conventional methods are presented briefly. The fourth part majorly focuses on operational modes of different oxidoreductase enzyme-based biocatalytic processes for the biodegradation and biotransformation of a wide array of harmful environmental contaminants. Finally, the left behind research gaps, concluding remarks as well as future trends and recommendations in the use of carrier-immobilized oxidoreductases for environmental perspective are also discussed. Mercury is a toxic heavy element, which contaminates air, land, and water, thus posing environment and human health-related threats to the ecological system. Considering the adverse ecological effects, there is an urgent need to design and develop strategic tools to detect a broader spectrum of toxic elements in different environments. The development of point-of-care tools, e.g., sensor-based devices offers a noteworthy solution to detect and monitor real-time generation or release of environmentally-related toxic elements from different sectors, even with or without partial treatments. For a first-hand estimate, a qualitative method (colorimetric) for detection of mercury could suffice. Benefiting from the colorimetric recognition methodology, herein, we developed a new system (2-(5-bromothiazol-2-yl)-3', 6'-bis(diethylamino)spiro[isoindoline-1, 9' xanthen]-3-one) for the detection of mercury ions. The newly developed chemical sensor is composed of a fluorescent part (rhodamine b) and a binding site (2-amino-5-bromothiazole). A highly selective and sensitive response accompanied by visual color change (colorless to pink) towards Hg2+ was observed among miscellaneous metal cations. This colorimetric change confirmed that the coordination complex exists as spirocyclic ring opened derivative of rhodamine moiety. Furthermore, the binding affinity and detection limit was also calculated from the absorbance and emission data. The calculated values are in the order of 4.72 × 104 M-1 and 6.9 μM, respectively. In addition, the results reveal that the complex between the chemical sensor (S) and Hg2+ is reversible in the presence of ethylenediaminetetraacetate (EDTA2-). Finally, the newly developed sensor S was employed to detect Hg2+ in the wastewater. The fluorescence intensity was measured at 583 nm with S followed by spiking with Hg2+ at different concentrations and related linearly. In summary, taken together all the properties suggest that the newly developed sensor might display great potential in the field of environmental monitoring of toxic elements.

In recent years, emerging contaminants (ECs) of high concern are broadly distributed throughout the environmental matrices because of various industrial practices and anthropogenic inputs, i.e., human-made activities. With ever increasing scientific knowledge, technological advancement, socio-economic awareness, people are now more concern about the widespread distribution of environmentally related ECs of high concern. As, ECs possess serious ecological threats and potential risks to human health and aquatic life, even at minor concentrations. The controlled or uncontrolled discharge and long-term persistence of ECs that includes micro-pollutants, endocrine disruptors (EDs), pesticides, pharmaceuticals, hormones, toxins, and industrially-related synthetic dyes and dyes-containing hazardous pollutants, etc. pose a significant challenge to policy regulators, engineers, and scientific community. The conventional treatment technologies are proved ineffective for the complete elimination and removal of an array of contaminants of emerging environmental concern in various biological and environmental samples. In order to overcome the aforementioned ecological threats, tremendous research efforts have been made to boost the efficiency of remediation techniques or develop new modalities to detect, quantify and treat the samples efficiently. The boom in biotechnology and environmental engineering offers potential opportunities to develop advanced and innovative remediation techniques in the field of water treatment. This review discusses the environmental and health hazards associated with a widespread distribution of micro-pollutants, pesticides, pharmaceuticals, hormones, and industrially-related synthetic dyes and dyes-containing hazardous pollutants, etc. in the water bodies, i.e., surface water, groundwater, and industrial wastewater streams. Life-cycle distribution of emerging (micro)-pollutants with suitable examples from various industrial sources viewpoints is also discussed. The later part of the review focuses on innovative and cost-effective remediation (removal) approaches from phase-changing treatment technologies for these ECs of high concern. To overcome drawbacks of conventional chemotherapy for cancer treatment, stimuli-responsive drug delivery systems (DDSs) including internal and external stimuli-based cues are the potential candidates. Both internal and external stimuli-responsive behavior can be utilized for engineering of the so-called ‘smart’ DDSs. Drug release triggered by external stimuli is more controllable and avoid individual variability. Among them, light-responsive DDSs are more promising because of spatiotemporal control. With considerable penetration features, near-infrared (NIR) light is potential stimulus with clinical implication. There are three types of NIR-responsive DDSs (NIRDDSs) based on the mechanism, i.e., (1) photothermal effect, (2) two-photon absorption, and (3) up-converting nanoparticles (UCNPs). Photothermal effect-based DDS has been extensively studied because of their tunable optical properties and flexible surface chemistry. Carbon nanomaterials, gold nanomaterials, indocyanine green, and metallic sulfides/oxides are the commonly employed photothermal agents. Two-photon absorption-based DDSs provide higher excitation and overcome the drawback of UV/Visible light-sensitive DDSs of poor penetration. UCNPs are inorganic crystalline nanoscale particles (1–100 nm) that exhibit photon up-conversion, i.e., conversion of NIR excitation light into UV/Visible emission light and empower deeper penetration into biological samples due to reduced light scattering. In this review, we discussed different NIRDDSs. The emphasis was also given to their drug release mechanisms and applications in the treatment of cancer. We generalize Jensen’s integral inequality for real Stieltjes measure by using Montgomery identity under the effect of n−convex functions; also, we give different versions of Jensen’s discrete inequality along with its converses for real weights. As an application, we give generalized variants of Hermite–Hadamard inequality. Montgomery identity has a great importance as many inequalities can be obtained from Montgomery identity in q−calculus and fractional integrals. Also, we give applications in information theory for our obtained results, especially for Zipf and Hybrid Zipf–Mandelbrot entropies.

Since, the presence of coronaviruses, including SARS-CoV-2 in the fecal specimens and anal swabs of some infected patients, has raised emerging concern with the likelihood of fecal-based spread must be inspected and clarified. Therefore, herein, an effort has been made to spotlight the current scenarios and possible solutions to better understand the risks associated with the wastewater matrices as a potential source of SARS-CoV-2 transmission in the environment. The information reviewed here constitutes a paramount intellectual basis to sustenance ongoing research to tackle the SARS-CoV-2 issue. Thus, this overview indicates the most accessible frontiers related to the detection, quantification, and possible transmission of SARS-CoV-2 in the environment through water routes. The regulatory authorities and policymakers must assure the society via dissemination of evidence-based guidelines that the water matrices, including groundwater and drinking water resources are safe. Finally, we have identified and enlisted a number of pressing questions concerning the ongoing SARS-CoV-2 transmission or COVID-19 emergence issue that must be carefully answered to put further and deeper insight into SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19 in future studies.

The combination of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) with nano-carbon materials is an emerging field among the researchers now a days. The addition of carbon materials (CNTs/GO) increases the Physico-chemical characteristics of parent MOFs. In this mini review the photocatalytic and Fenton-like oxidation behavior of these hybrid nanocomposites has been discussed. Additionally, the efficient remediation of a number of pollutants (VOCs, heavy metals and toxic gases) through adsorptive removal from atmospheric environment has been presented. Finally, the recyclability and stability of MOFs-C along with future perspectives are also presented at the end of this review.

The present work, presents the Luminol immobilized electrochemiluminescence (ECL) for the detection of hydrogen peroxide. Herein, the ECL behavior of luminol immobilized on graphite as a paste electrode has been studied in nearly neutral solution (pH = 8) for the detection of hydrogen peroxide. Under the optimized conditions, a strong electron-transfer reaction occurs between luminol immobilized electrode and hydrogen peroxide in solution. Electrochemiluminescence response of proposed sensor for hydrogen peroxide was linear in the range of 1 × 10−8 to 1 × 10−3 μM with detection limit of 0.7 × 10−8 μM ​(S/N ​= ​3) at +0.6 ​V in PBS (pH ​= ​8). The sensor showed response for hydrogen peroxide concentration in less than 7 ​s. The prepared electrode is simple, fast, reproducible and stable. The effect of EDTA and other divalent interfering metal ions in the presence of hydrogen peroxide was also studied. The successful application of Luminol based ECL sensor was employed to study hydrogen peroxide in commercial hydrogen peroxide samples.

The genus Mimosa belongs to the Fabaceae family and comprises almost 400 species of herbs, shrubs and ornamental trees. The genus Mimosa is found all over the tropics and subtropics of Asia, Africa, South America, North America and Australia. Traditionally, this genus has been popular for the treatment of jaundice, diarrhea, fever, toothache, wound healing, asthma, leprosy, vaginal and urinary complaints, skin diseases, piles, gastrointestinal disorders, small pox, hepatitis, tumor, HIV, ulcers and ringworm. The review covered literature available from 1959 to 2020 collected from books, scientific journals and electronic searches, such as Science Direct, Web of Science and Google scholar. Various keywords, such as Mimosa, secondary metabolites, medicines, phytochemicals and pharmacological values, were used for the data search. The Mimosa species are acknowledged to be an essential source of secondary metabolites with a wide-ranging biological functions, and up until now, 145 compounds have been isolated from this genus. Pharmacological studies showed that isolated compounds possess significant potential, such as antiprotozoal, antimicrobial, antiviral, antioxidant, and antiproliferative as well as cytotoxic activities. Alkaloids, chalcones, flavonoids, indoles, terpenes, terpenoids, saponins, steroids, amino acids, glycosides, flavanols, phenols, lignoids, polysaccharides, lignins, salts and fatty esters have been isolated from this genus. This review focused on the medicinal aspects of the Mimosa species and may provide a comprehensive understanding of the prospective of this genus as a foundation of medicine, supplement and nourishment. The plants of this genus could be a potential source of medicines in the near future.

In toluene at 50 °C, the vinyl addition polymerization of 4-vinyl-cyclohexene (VCH) comonomers with ethylene is investigated using symmetrical metallocene (rac-Et(Ind)2ZrCl2) combined with borate/TIBA. To demonstrate the polymerizations’ living character, cyclic VCH with linear-exocyclicπ and endocyclicπ bonds produces monomodal polymers, but the dispersity (Ɖ) was broader. The copolymers obtained can be dissolved in conventional organic solvent and have excellent thermal stability and crystalline temperature (ΔHm), and their melting temperature (Tm) varies from 109 to 126 °C, and ΔHm ranges from 80 to 128 (J/g). Secondly, the distribution of polymeric catalysts engaged in polymer chain synthesis and the nature of the dormant state are two of the most essential yet fundamentally unknown aspects. Comprehensive and exhaustive kinetics of E/VCH have shown numerous different kinetic aspects that are interpreted as manifestations of polymeric catalysts or of the instability of several types of active center [Zr]/[C*] fluctuations and formation rates of chain propagation RpE, RpVCH, and propagation rate constants kpE and kpVCH, the quantitative relationship between RpE, RpVCH and kpE, kpVCH and catalyst structures, their constituent polymer Mw, and their reactivity response to the endocyclic and exocyclic bonds of VCH. The kinetic parameters RpE, RpVCH, kpE, and kpVCH, which are the apparent rates for the metallocene-catalyzed E/VCH, RpE, and kpE values, are much more significant than RpVCH and kpVCH at 120 s, RpE and RpVCH 39.63 and 0.78, and the kpE and kpVCH values are 6461 and 93 L/mol·s, respectively, and minor diffusion barriers are recommended in the early stages. Compared with previously reported PE, RpE and kpE values are 34.2 and 7080 L/mol·s. VCH increases the RpE in the initial stage, as we are expecting; this means that the exocyclic bond of VCH is more active at the initial level, and that the chain transfer reaction of cyclic internal π double is increased with the reaction time. The tp versus Rp, kp, and [Zr]/[C*] fraction count may be fitted to a model that invokes deactivation of growing polymer chains. At tp 120–360 s higher, the incorporation rate of VCH suppresses E insertion, resulting in reduced molecular weight.

Abstract A variety of imine derivatives have been synthesized via Suzuki cross coupling of N-(4-bromophenyl)-1-(3-bromothiophen-2-yl)methanimine with various arylboronic acids in moderate to good yields (58–72%). A wide range of electron donating and withdrawing functional groups were well tolerated in reaction conditions. To explore the structural properties, Density functional theory (DFT) investigations on all synthesized molecules (3a–3i) were performed. Conceptual DFT reactivity descriptors and molecular electrostatic potential analyses were performed by using B3LYP/6-31G(d,p) method to explore the reactivity and reacting sites of all derivatives (3a–3i).

Titanium, Aluminum and Vanadium (Ti 6Al 4V) alloy are frequently used as surgical implant but regarding their compatibility in living systems is limited. Ti 6Al 4V was prepared from high purity constituents and Ti 6Al 4V alloy powder (25 mg/ml solvent/Kg body weight) was gavaged to albino mice for 8 days. A saline treated control group was maintained in parallel. A series of behavioral (rota rod, light and dark box, open field and novel object) test performance, complete blood count, selected serum (HDL cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, creatinine, cholesterol and triglycerides) parameters, antioxidant metabolites from vital organs (superoxide dismutase, catalase and lipid peroxidation) from vital organs and body weight were determined in both treatments. It was observed that rota rod test performance in male (P = 0.05) and novel object recognition capability in female mice (P = 0.04) were significantly reduced as compared to their respective control groups. Body weight, complete blood count and studied serum parameters remained unaffected when compared between two treatments of both genders. Concentration of superoxide dismutase in liver (P = 0.008), heart (P = 0.01) and lungs (P = 0.05) was significantly elevated while catalase concentration in liver (P = 0.001) was significantly decreased in female albino mice that were exposed to 25 mg/ml solvent/kg body weight of Ti 6 A l 4 V alloy powder. In case of male albino mice, superoxide dismutase concentration in lungs was reduced (P = 0.05) in mice exposed to Ti 6 A l 4 V alloy powder.In conclusion, our results indicated that short term exposure to 25 mg/ml solvent/Kg body weight of Ti-6Al-4V alloy powder supplementation had adversely affected selected aspects of behavior of albino mice in a gender specific manner. Analysis of antioxidant parameters in vital organs has demonstrated that the applied dose of Ti-6Al-4V alloy powder can disturb the H₂O₂ associated metabolic pathways in albino mice, especially in female mice. As this alloy is part of surgical implants, so we recommend that their effects in living systems must be extensively explored under variable dose and exposure time conditions to know more about their biocompatibility. Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are a fascinating class of porous crystalline materials constructed by organic ligands and inorganic connectors. Owing to their noteworthy catalytic chemistry, and matching or compatible coordination with numerous materials, MOFs offer potential applications in diverse fields such as catalysis, proton conduction, gas storage, drug delivery, sensing, separation and other related biotechnological and biomedical applications. Moreover, their designable structural topologies, high surface area, ultrahigh porosity, and tunable functionalities all make them excellent materials of interests for nanoscale applications. Herein, an effort has been to summarize the current advancement of MOF-based materials (i.e., pristine MOFs, MOF derivatives, or MOF composites) for electrocatalysis, photocatalysis, and biocatalysis. In the first part, we discussed the electrocatalytic behavior of various MOFs, such as oxidation and reduction candidates for different types of chemical reactions. The second section emphasizes on the photocatalytic performance of various MOFs as potential candidates for light-driven reactions, including photocatalytic degradation of various contaminants, CO2 reduction, and water splitting. Applications of MOFs-based porous materials in the biomedical sector, such as drug delivery, sensing and biosensing, antibacterial agents, and biomimetic systems for various biological species is discussed in the third part. Finally, the concluding points, challenges, and future prospects regarding MOFs or MOF-based materials for catalytic applications are also highlighted.

In recent years, magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) have gained increasing attention as versatile carriers because of their unique magnetic properties, biocatalytic functionalities, and capabilities to work at the cellular and molecular level of biological interactions. Moreover, owing to their exceptional functional properties, such as large surface area, large surface-to-volume ratio, and mobility and high mass transference, MNPs have been employed in several applications in different sectors such as supporting matrices for enzymes immobilization and controlled release of drugs in biomedicine. Unlike non-magnetic carriers, MNPs can be easily separated and recovered using an external magnetic field. In addition to their biocompatible microenvironment, the application of MNPs represents a remarkable green chemistry approach. Herein, we focused on state-of-the-art two majorly studied perspectives of MNPs as versatile carriers for (1) matrices for enzymes immobilization, and (2) matrices for controlled drug delivery. Specifically, from the applied perspectives of magnetic nanoparticles, a series of different applications with suitable examples are discussed in detail. The second half is focused on different metal-based magnetic nanoparticles and their exploitation for biomedical purposes.

In this study, we reviewed state-of-the-art endogenous-based and exogenous-based stimuli-responsive drug delivery systems (DDS) for programmed site-specific release to overcome the drawbacks of conventional therapeutic modalities. This particular work focuses on the smart chemistry and mechanism of action aspects of several types of stimuli-responsive polymeric carriers that play a crucial role in extracellular and intracellular sections of diseased tissues or cells. With ever increasing scientific knowledge and awareness, research is underway around the globe to design new types of stimuli (external/internal) responsive polymeric carriers for biotechnological applications at large and biomedical and/or pharmaceutical applications, in particular. Both external/internal and even dual/multi-responsive behavior of polymeric carriers is considered an essential element of engineering so-called ‘smart’ DDS, which controls the effective and efficient dose loading, sustained release, individual variability, and targeted permeability in a sophisticated manner. So far, an array of DDS has been proposed, developed, and implemented. For instance, redox, pH, temperature, photo/light, magnetic, ultrasound, and electrical responsive DDS and/or all in all dual/dual/multi-responsive DDS (combination or two or more from any of the above). Despite the massive advancement in DDS arena, there are still many challenging concerns that remain to be addressed to cover the research gap. In this context, herein, an effort has been made to highlight those concerning issues to cover up the literature gap. Thus, the emphasis was given to the drug release mechanism and applications of endogenous and exogenous based stimuli-responsive DDS in the clinical settings.

In recent decades, environmental pollution has emerged as a core issue, around the globe, rendering it of fundamental concern to eco-toxicologists, environmental biologists, eco-chemists, pathologists, and researchers from other fields. The dissolution of polluting agents is a leading cause of environmental pollution of all key spheres including the hydrosphere, lithosphere, and biosphere, among others. The widespread occurrence of various pollutants including toxic heavy metals and other emerging hazardous contaminants is a serious concern. With increasing scientific knowledge, socioeconomic awareness, human health problems, and ecological apprehensions, people are more concerned about adverse health outcomes. Against this background, several removal methods have been proposed and implemented with the aim of addressing environmental pollution and sustainable and eco-friendly development. Among them, the biosorption of pollutants using naturally inspired sources, e.g., marine algae, has considerable advantages. In the past few years, marine algae have been extensively studied due to their natural origin, overall cost-effective ratio, and effectiveness against a broader pollutant range; thus, they are considered a potential alternative to the conventional methods used for environmental decontamination. Herein, an effort has been made to highlight the importance of marine algae as naturally inspired biosorbents and their role in biosorption. Biosorption mechanisms and factors affecting biosorption activities are also discussed in this review. The utilization of marine algae as a biosorbent for the removal of numerous potentially toxic elements has also been reviewed.
