Today, information technology as a science, affects almost all components of societies, so that it is used by organizations to improve organizational processes and gain a competitive advantage due to the complexity and competitiveness of the business environment. Due to the importance of this issue in this study, the components of information and communication technology in evaluating of the performance of human resource management in service companies have been studied. For this purpose, a questionnaire including six dimensions of communication and information technology was designed and distributed among a statistical sample of 50 managers of service companies. The validity of the questionnaire was evaluated using Lavache validity method and based on the opinion of experts, and finally the research hypotheses were analyzed using SPSS software. According to the normality test, it was shown that the views of the statistical sample were not normal and the non-parametric Spearman coefficient test method examined the correlation of ICT components. Finally, the results showed that correlation exists between web services, cloud information processing, artificial intelligence, mobile communication technology, smart business information, and ICT of human resource management of service organizations, so the development of mobile and web applications, which has recently been introduced, offers a new model of intelligence to the organization and there is potential for business improvement in bringing a great benefit to the organization.

BACKGROUND: Head injury is still a major cause of death and disability. Despite advances in intensive monitoring and clinical practice, little data is available to show the predictive value of intracranial pressure monitoring in assessment of the outcome of head injuries. This study was undertaken to evaluate this predictive value and is the first Iranian study in which ICP monitoring has been included. METHODS: In a prospective study from September 1999 to September 2003, all head- injured patients (53 patients) with GCS of 4-8 who were admitted to Nemazee Hospital of Shiraz University of Medical Sciences were included in this study. Subarachnoid screw method or ventricular catheter via ventriculostomy was used to determine intracranial pressure. Patients were monitored for 3 days and were followed for two years at 6-month intervals. RESULTS: Car accidents were the most common cause of head injury (43.3%) and 43.3% of patients had GCS of 8. Sixty percent of patients had abnormal intracranial pressure. The patients were most commonly in their first decade of life (18.8%) and 81% of patients were male. Controlling increased intracranial pressure was successful in 60% of patients and resulted in a decrease of mortality rate from 60% to 15%. CONCLUSIONS: Early treatment of increased intracranial pressure in head injury patients would be beneficial in reducing mortality and morbidity rates. Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) occurs more frequently in patients with south-east Asian racial backgrounds. This disease may spreads superiorly to the skull base and intracranium followed by skull base destruction. We report a 56 year-old man presented with headache and diplopia. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) revealed extension of destructive mass from ethmoid sinus to the parenchyma. Intraoperative touch cytology showed loose syncytial sheets of pleomorphic abnormal epithelial cells, dyskeratotic cells with abnormal chromatin clumping and irregular nuclear outlines, in a necrotic background. These findings were infavor of keratizing squamous cell carcinoma which was confirmed by histopathology. During interpretation of intraoperative imprint cytology of central nervous system tumors, the possibility of local invasive tumors like NPC should be considered.

Objective: Erectile dysfunction affects quality of life and is a common dysfunction in drug abusers. The aim of this study was to evaluate the frequency of erectile dysfunction in drug abusers on methadone maintenance therapy to reduce this drug side effect in the future studies . Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted with two hundred addicted individuals on methadone maintenance therapy. Erectile dysfunction was surveyed using the International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF). Finally, all data were collected and analyzed by descriptive statistics such as measures of variability and central tendency and Chi-squared (χ²) test using SPSS Version18.0 software . Results: The amount of the total frequency of erectile dysfunction was pointed 30 or less among the two hundred patients and included the moderate and severe cases. In this study, the number of patients with erectile dysfunction was fifty three (26.5%). Conclusion: The frequency of erectile dysfunction in our study was approximately 1.5 tim s of prevalence of the public (16.1%). In this study, all the factors related to sexual function such as erectile function, libido, orgasm, and sexual pleasure showed a decline among drug abusers.

While thalassemia major (TM) used to be a prevalent genetic disease in the past, however, Phenylketonuria (PKU) is quite rare in spite of consanquiness marriage rate of about 40% in the region. Preventive efforts for TM started >20 years ago but neonatal screening for PKU started since 2007. This is the first report of co-existence of thalassemia and PKU in Middle East and in consideration of the prevalence of each genes, this chance association is a very unusual event. We report a case of having PKU and TM.
