Chofu Aerospace Center, Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA)(CAC)), Chofu, Tokyo, Japan, 我々は広大な空をカバーするために、たくさんの光学センサを使う低軌道物体を監視するための地上光学観測システムを提案している。この研究でシステム評価はSTKソフトウェアを用いて実行した。この結果は、サーベイのために二つの経度方向に離れたサイトと両極域の二つの追跡サイトでTLEオブジェクトの60%以上検出してそれらの軌道を維持できることを示す。提案したシステムは、近い将来、宇宙状況認知のような低軌道物体監視のための現在のレーダー観測システムを補完するか置き換えることができるかもしれない。, We are proposing a ground-based optical observation system for monitoring LEO objects which uses a lot of optical sensors to cover the vast sky. In this study, the system evaluation was carried out using STK software. The results shows that two longitudinally separate sites for survey and two tracking sites located in both polar regions were able to detect more than 60% of TLE-objects and maintain their orbits. Chofu Aerospace Center, Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA)(CAC)), Chofu, Tokyo, Japan, 軌道上物体の光学観測において，見かけ上比較的高速で移動する対象を高感度で検出できる手法を提案する．本手法は画像中を高速移動する物体の軌跡内の信号を積算することで検出感度を向上させている．本手法の有効性を確かめるために，オーストラリア・リモート観測所（ARO）での観測データを用いて解析を行った．暗い物体の検出結果より，軌跡を構成するピクセル一つ一つの平均信号強度が背景雑音よりも小さい場合であっても検出可能であることが確かめられた．本発表では比較的暗い物体についての解析結果を報告する．, This study proposes a new image processing algorithm to detect objects using their apparent streaks. A faint streak can be improved its noise-to-signal ratio with the root square of its pixel length by compression. We apply this algorithm to datasets observed at Australia remote observatory in order to confirm validity. Chofu Aerospace Center, Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA)(CAC)), Chofu, Tokyo, Japan, スペースデブリ光学観測の画像処理、検出手法、および検出物体の光度変動の解析結果について報告する。 観測は地平座標固定モード(静止軌道物体は画像内で静止)で行い、一領域につき露光時間3秒で32枚撮像したものを1データセットとした。これらの画像に対して直線運動検出法を適用することで移動物体を検出し、検出された移動物体に対し測光を行い光度変動を調べた。その結果、検出物体が回転している可能性を示唆する光度変動を示すものが多数確認された。本講演ではこれらの解析結果について報告する。また、スペースデブリの回転を誘起させる機構についても議論する。, We report on image-processing, detection and light curve of space debris around the geosynchronous Earth orbit (GEO). In GEO survey observation, we employ the horizontal coordinate system, and set the exposure time to be 3 seconds. A dataset of an observation region consists of 32 successive light frames. We detect moving objects by applying the uniform linear motion detection method to the dataset, and perform photometry on the images to investigate the light curve. As a result, we found that a lot of the detected objects show the time variation in the light curve which provides information on the rotational state of the detected object. 第10回宇宙環境シンポジウム (2013年12月2日-3日. 科学技術館), 東京, 10th Spacecraft Environment Symposium (December 2-3, 2013, Science Museum), Tokyo Japan, 地球周回軌道のデブリ環境は年々悪化を続けており，継続的な宇宙開発利用に対する大きな脅威となっている．そうした脅威に対処するために，宇宙機自身が取れる対策としては大きく防護と回避の二つが挙げられる．しかし，そうした対策が有効なデブリのサイズにはギャップがあるため，リスク低減は十分でない．本研究では回避可能なデブリサイズの限界をより小さくするために，軌道上センサと地上観測網の連携システムを用いた検出および追跡手法を提案する．提案する手法の実現可能性について，画像処理および観測感度向上の観点から評価を行った．初期検討の結果，軌道上センサによる検出結果を用いた初期軌道推定は，地上観測網において追尾観測を行う際の画像処理に適用できる精度を持っていることがわかった．さらにそうした画像処理が行えるという前提のもとで地上観測網における観測可能な限界サイズを見積もったところ，直径5cm 以下という結果が得られた．, 形態: カラー図版あり, Physical characteristics: Original contains color illustrations, 資料番号: AA0062301022, レポート番号: JAXA-SP-13-016

第5回スペースデブリワークショップ (2013年1月22-23日. 宇宙航空研究開発機構調布航空宇宙センター), 調布市, 東京, 5th Space Debris Workshop (January 22-23, 2013, Chofu Aerospace Center, Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA)), Chofu, Tokyo, Japan, スペースデブリの存在は持続的な宇宙開発利用に対する大きな脅威である．特に地球低軌道（LEO）には追跡されている宇宙機のおよそ7 割が集中しており，衝突による破砕リスクが高いため早急な対策が必要である．衝突による破砕を防止するために有効な手段の一つが，軌道上物体の高精度な追跡情報に基づく衝突回避運用である．現状で，LEOにおいて定常的に追跡されている物体サイズの下限はおよそ10cmである．本研究では，LEO に配置した光学センサによって観測能力を向上させることを提案する．効果的なシステム提案を行うためには，LEO 同士の観測における能力評価を適切に行う必要がある．著者らは能力評価のツールとして軌道上観測シミュレータの開発を進めている．また軌道上観測結果に対する初期軌道推定手法やフィルタの検討も行なっている．それらツール開発や検討結果の現状とあわせて技術的課題などについて報告を行う．, Space-debris related issues are major threats for sustainable space development and utilization. Urgent countermeasure for satellite breakup due to collision is required especially for Low Earth Region because approximately 70 percent of tracked objects are concentrated to the region. Collision avoidance maneuver based on precise tracking information is one of effective measure to prevent collision. Current size limitation of steady tracking operation for LEO region is about 10 cm in diameter. We propose space-based optical sensor for debris placed in LEO region as a tracking capability improvement method. Proper capabilityassessment for LEO to LEO observation geometry is required to propose effective system. We develop space-based observation simulator as an assessment tool and consider suitable algorithms of initial orbit determination, correlation and filter. 第4回スペースデブリワークショップ(2010年12月16-17日, 宇宙航空研究開発機構調布航空宇宙センター), 4th Space Debris Workshop(December 16-17, 2010, Chofu Aerospace Center, Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA)), 九州大学では2つの次世代型のデブリ観測の研究に取組んでいる., 1つ目は地上光学観測による静止軌デブリのサーチ観測の実証研究であるサーチ観測とは,デブリ生成･軌道伝播の数値計算により宇宙機の破砕現象由来のデブリの分布や運動を適切に予測することで,破砕現象由来のデブリを選択的に観測する方法である.貴重な軌道資源である静止軌道周辺では過去に宇宙機の破砕現象が10件以上起こっていると指摘されているが,そのうち破砕の瞬間が確認出来た事例は2件,また破砕で生じたデブリのうち現在追跡されているものは僅か4個に過ぎないこのように未解明な静止軌道デブリ環境をサーチ観測することで,効率良く環境解明を図る事が可能になる., 2つ目は軌道上ライダー観測システムを用いたデブリの軌道上観測の実現可能性の検討に関する研究であるライダーとはレーザー光を用いた検知･測距技術であり,高い空間分解能での観測が可能である光学観測とライダーの組合せによりデブリ軌道決定精度の向上を,軌道上に観測システムを配置することにより観測能力の拡充を図る.より多くの対象について高精度の軌道情報を得ることで,宇宙機に対する脅威評価を有効に実施することが可能となる., 形態: カラー図版あり, Physical characteristics: Original contains color illustrations, 資料番号: AA0064966008, レポート番号: JAXA-SP-10-011

The algorithm improves target object’s signal-to-noise-ratio against background by summing signals along expected streak direction. The signal-to-noise-ratio can be improved with proportional to square root of summed pixel number, theoretically. This algorithm is applied to actual observation datasets to confirm its feasibility. The application test results that the algorithm can detect an object appeared on images as streaks even if pixels’ intensity of each streak are weaker than background noise. It indicates that the algorithm can improve efficiency of geosynchronous object survey conducted by JAXA. The algorithm is applied to actual observation datasets to confirm its feasibility. The test results that the algorithm newly detects three detections correlated to two objects. 第58回宇宙科学技術連合講演会（2014年11月12日-14日. 長崎ブリックホール), 長崎市, 長崎県, "We report on optical observations and an efficient detection method of space debris around the geosynchronous Earth orbit (GEO). We started to operate our new Australia Remote Observatory (ARO) where an 18 cm optical telescope with a charged-coupled device (CCD) camera covering a 3.17-degree field of view is used. We employ the horizontal coordinate system in which the stars move horizontally in an image, while GEO objects are relatively stationary. In our operation, the exposure time of light frame is set to be 3 seconds. In the uniform linear motion detection method, we select a sufficient number of object candidates (500 candidates in this paper) from each image based on their shape and intensity. Then we search a sequence of objects showing the uniform linear motion in the successive 18 images. As a result, we detected about 300 GEO objects up to magnitude of 15 among 5 night data. We also identified the objects from the two-line-element (TLE) data catalogue publicly provided by the U.S. Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM). We found that about one third of the detected objects are not listed in the catalogue. We conclude that our ARO and detection method posse a high efficiency detection of GEO objects despite the use of comparatively inexpensive observation and analysis system. Optical observations from the surface has advantages in cost and resolution however their operation efficiency is strongly affected by weather condition.
