This article examines the impact of TV disaster coverage on viewers' temporal perception and sense of reality, through the lens of Dany Laferrière's Tout bouge autour de moi (2011) and Ryoko Sekiguchi's Ce n'est pas un hasard: Chronique japonaise (2011). The first book, written in the form of a journal, covers the devastating magnitude 7.0 earthquake that struck Haiti on January 12, 2010, and its aftermath. The second book, also written as a journal, deals with the triple disaster—earthquake, tsunami, nuclear meltdown (Fukushima)—that occurred in Japan on March 11, 2011. Both authors suggest that the media, and images, more broadly, play a crucial role in fashioning viewers' perceptions of disaster by constructing an artificial reality that draws on the real, yet at the same time imposes its own temporality, chronological sequence, and logic. In addition, Laferrière's and Sekiguchi's reflections on the circulation and constant replay of images of disaster raise ethical questions about the media's appropriation and commodification of suffering, the traumatic impact of images of atrocity, as well as our widespread addiction to watching disasters unfold in real time on television. RESEARCH OBJECTIVE: Analysis of how the 2020 US presidential election was covered and framed by Polish television news programs, and whether the polarization of media and politics in Poland was reflected in the studied content, influencing its bias. THE RESEARCH PROBLEM AND METHODS: The analysis of the coverage of the US presidential campaign by three nationwide TV news programs - TVN, TVP and Polsat by using content analysis with elements of framing analysis and comparative analysis. THE PROCESS OF ARGUMENTATION: The article consists of four parts: the first explains the methodology of the study, the second discusses how presidential elections are covered and framed and what influences the national media being interested in covering foreign events. The third part presents the results of the study, and the last contains the discussion and conclusions. RESEARCH RESULTS: The coverage was dichotomous and there was a correlation between the political affiliation of the media and their choice of framing. The media used a combination of game, strategy and conflict framing that highlighted differences between Trump and Biden in terms of the election results and their personal attributes. We found that the electoral rivalry was portrayed as a conflict between the candidates and that the Polish media constructed "enemy" images of candidates and voters depending on their political sympathies. CONCLUSIONS, INNOVATIONS, AND RECOMMENDATIONS: The polarization of media and politics in Poland was reflected in the coverage of the US election. The broadcasters placed Polish political conflicts in the context of the US campaign. It shows that foreign events may be covered by national media through the prism of political bias. The problem of the spatial patterns of information transmitted by media is insufficiently debated within the literature so far. In relation to territorial marketing, in most countries the role of TV coverage is a pivotal one as it has the most intense impact on the wider public. Moreover, the TV news-reporting agenda to a large degree also epitomises the press and radio coverage agenda. This paper aims at assessing whether the selected attributes of real economic life in NUTS III regions in Czechia find their adequate portrayal in the regionally related contributions of an economic character that appear in national TV news reporting. Our attention was devoted primarily to the territorial perspective; more specifically, to the 14 self-governing regions in Czechia. In order to reduce the urban character of Prague, two NUTS III regions with the same centre, Prague and Central Bohemia, were aggregated into one territory. This is compliant with their natural geographical characteristics. Thus, the final number of analysed territories reached thirteen. Naturally, the share of news about the given topics in individual regions should roughly correspond to the presence of the themes in terms of territorial statistics. We will attempt to examine the intensity of the above-mentioned congruence. In this article, we shall concentrate on selected economic pillars. These pillars include economic life, economic policy, economic criminality, as well as research, development, and education. These pillars facilitate the evaluation of centralities and peripheralities in Czechia with regard to both material (i.e., real) and intangible (i.e., TV coverage-based) components. The process of gatekeeping plays a critical role in the selection of information that is transformed into media. Moreover, one cannot ignore the media bias – i.e., the bias or perceived bias of journalists and news producers – within the mass media in the selection of events and stories that are reported and the way they are covered. The research question posed in the frame of this article is as follows: can the significant differences between the virtual portrayals and genuine economic characteristics be found in all investigated territories in Czechia? Quantitative content analysis has been utilised for the classification and structuration of individual contributions in TV news reporting. In sum, disproportions between the real and virtual economic characters of regions are identified. Deviations from potential balance could be found in all of four defined economic pillars. Even more, single events may be so intensive that they affect and even distort the whole media portrayal of concrete regions. Subsequently, the relationship between centralities and peripheralities may become more intense and at the same time flexible within the virtual dimension. In this way, the intangible dimensions of centralities and peripheralities can act as either supportive or mitigating powers in relation to their material counterparts.

There are only few doubts on the importance of culture for urban life. This article deals with the culture in Czech regional metropolises as it is reflected in the frame of the national TV reporting. The main objective of this article was to analyse and assess contributions that concern culture in individual capitals of self-governing regions in Czechia and are broadcasted within national TV coverage. The focal point of this article was represented by culture-related contributions bound just to the 13 regional metropolises in Czechia. The whole issue will be monitored from both quantitative and qualitative views. Contrary to other media topics, cultural themes tend to be much more positive and generally improve images and reputations of respective towns. In spite of the relevance of this topic, an amazingly small amount of research has been accomplished on the culture in Czech regional metropolises as portrayed within national TV coverage. Religious minorities in Pakistan "are believed to be much more than the estimated figures of 5 percent of Pakistan's 160 million population". Minorities were enjoying good relationship with Muslim community but since few years some violent incidents resulting in destruction of the life and property were reported by media. Being a forth state of a society, media is expected to present all marginalized groups within it and to give an account of all incidents in a responsible way. This study finds out the role of Pakistani TV Channels to highlight minorities' rights in Pakistan and to create harmony among all groups residing in the country. With mix methodology of qualitative and quantitative, data (N=456) was taken from students of five different universities of Lahore to know their perspective about the role of the Private Television channels to highlight minorities' rights and their contribution in presenting the stories related to minorities. Data analysis shows that respondents find private TV channels quite vocal to give them awareness about minority rights and to share the incidents in a neutral way but respondents do not find private TV channels active in creating harmony among different minorities 'groups. Abstract: This paper analyses government approval in Italy – which has become a key aspect for electoral support in the new party system of the Second Republic – exploring the influence that TV coverage exerts on approval net of traditional accounts of government support. Relying on both aggregate time series and pooled individual-level surveys analyses, it is shown that communication has a sizable impact on government approval. The popularity of Centre-Left and Centre-Right governments is affected evenly by the economy but differently by the news coverage of their activity. People with lower political interest are the most reactive to news coverage of government performance. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

This article describes the television coverage of the 2004 presidential campaign in the U.S. One indication that the volume of coverage would hit a new high was the crowd on the campaign trail. In addition to the networks, cable channels and local stations covering candidate appearances, other television outlets tagged along from time to time, taking their own cut at the story. Hence, the size of the media pack ultimately had an effect on the coverage. As the saying goes, an experiment watched is an experiment changed.
