DIGNITY , *GODS ,CHRISTIAN attitudes - Abstract
In his commentary on Psalm 118(LXX):73a, "Your hands made me and fashioned me" (Tract.118Ps. 10.1–8), Hilary of Poitiers provides a unique perspective on the creation of humanity and on its exceptional dignity. I will examine key aspects of Hilary's exegesis of this verse, namely, the identification of the hands of God, the interpretation of the two verbs "made" and "fashioned", and the connections with Genesis 1:26 and 2:7. I will also compare Hilary's interpretation of Ps 118:73a to the views expressed by other authors such as Theophilus, Irenaeus, Origen, Tertullian, Ambrose, and Didymus, with the purpose of contextualising Hilary's novel understanding of human dignity within the larger framework of Early Christian interpretations of Genesis. LOVE of God , *AESTHETICS , *SOUL - Abstract
There have been many attempts to give a precise definition of beauty. In this article, I join a tradition of trinitarian reflection on beauty and attempt to add further clarity to a trinitarian definition of beauty. Beauty, in my construal, is the gravitas amoris of the triune being of love—it is, in other words, the objective attractional "force" or "weightiness" exerted by triune love on the soul by which one, if she yields to triune love, experiences the bliss and delight of triune love and is thereby drawn into deifying union. This article will proceed as follows: First, I will survey the relationship between beauty and love found in the classic philosophical tradition represented by Plato, Aristotle, and Plotinus. Then, I will survey this beauty–love relation in Christian thought from Augustine, Aquinas, Ficino, Edwards, and von Hildebrand. These figures will provide supporting evidence for my construal of beauty. I then turn to the constructive task. I argue that there is an abductive fit between the features of beauty and the nature of the Trinity. In light of this fit and the sources of traditional thought above, beauty is best thought of as the gravitas amoris—the weighty impression of God's triune love in created things that draws one into the triune life and is experienced as delight when perceived. I conclude by answering objections and reflecting on how this account reframes the transcendentals and coordinates the experience of beauty with Christian love. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

DOCTRINAL theology , *TRINITY , *INCARNATION , *GOD , *SONS , *SUBJECTIVITY , *INTERSUBJECTIVITY - Abstract
This article expands my previous work on omnisubjectivity, the divine property of having a complete and perfect grasp of the subjective states of all beings who have such states. By a subjective state I mean a conscious state as that state is experienced by the one who has it. I argue that only a being with subjectivity can be omnisubjective, and therefore, God has subjective states. The article explores the subjectivity of God as it applies to the Christian doctrines of the Trinity and the Incarnation, focusing on the important difference between a person and an instance of a nature. I propose that the uniqueness of persons is grounded in their unique subjective states, not their objective nature. Each person of the Trinity has a unique point of view and unique subjectivity even though they share an objective divine nature instantiated in a single divine being. The Son has a single set of subjective states before, during, and after the Incarnation. Each member of the Trinity is omnisubjective and fully grasps the unique subjective states of each other person of the Trinity. The perfect comprehension of each other while remaining unique persons is a model of perfect love within a community of persons. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

NOBILITY (Social class) , *SOCIAL structure , *SOCIAL systems , *MYTH , *TRINITY - Abstract
Dumézil (1898-1986), classified societies and myths based on three principles to explain ancient cultures and drew analogies about the belief systems and social structures of Indo-European societies. He also claimed that societies were organized around three main functional principles: noble class, farmers and artisans, and the warriors. According to Dumézil, the relationship between these three classes can be seen in mythological stories and rituals. Dumézil's Trinity theory attempts to define the Indo-European cultural tradition based on socio-political categories. Experts have argued in parallel that the theory tends to generalize and that not all societies conform to these three class structures. It should also be discussed whether the universal patterns proposed by the theory are applicable to every cultural area within the Indo-European domain. In this article, the function of myths in the analysis of social structure has been evaluated through the lens of certain followers of the theory. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

DOCTRINAL theology ,LOVE of God ,ANTHROPOLOGY ,TRINITY ,APOLOGETICS - Abstract
Pascal's discussion of the human person, one which may be considered existential in nature, continues to be a prominent topic in philosophical and theological circles today. It is clear to many that Pascal espouses different notions of the human person, which can be divided into two, namely (a) considered "as and by himself, without God," and (b) with belief in God. Given this dual anthropology that stems from Pascal's apologetic project in the Pensées, this paper proposes to extend this understanding in relation to the Christian doctrine of the Trinity, something that Pascal only passes over in his Pensées but is rich with meaning and interpretation. Through the help of an anthropology that is grounded in the Trinity, thus as a theological proposition, the paper hopes to gain a greater understanding of Pascal's apologetic by mapping out his counter-anthropology, that is, a life lived in the love of God and within the so-called order of charity. 8. Divine Relations: Jīva Gosvāmin and Thomas Aquinas on Acintya and Mystery.

- Abstract
I argue that Jīva Gosvāmin's (c. 1517–1608 ad) concept of acintya and Thomas Aquinas's (1225–1274 ad) concept of mystery are similar. To make this case, I examine how each of them characterizes the nature of unity and plurality within the being of God, which is the issue of relations within a single object. I examine contemporary translations of acintya as it is used by Jīva, and I argue that mystery is a best translation because it addresses the ontological and epistemological senses of the word. I examine contemporary accounts of mystery as it is used by Aquinas, arguing that they reflect Jīva's use of the word acintya. This comparative study makes the case for similar approaches in Hindu and Christian scholasticism in regard to the use of reason to address the relational problem of simultaneous oneness and difference. In the background of the new agricultural science, universities need to focus on the fundamental task of cultivating morality and talents, focusing on national major strategies such as rural revitalization, and cultivating a group of applied innovative talents with solid professional knowledge, practical and innovative abilities, as well as understanding agriculture, loving rural areas, and loving farmers. The cultivation of talents relies on the construction of high-quality professional courses. Horticultural plant breeding is a major backbone course of the horticulture major. Through preliminary exploration and practice, this course has constructed a "Trinity" ideological and political teaching system, which has certain reference significance for the ideological and political construction of agricultural related courses. This paper examines Petrus van Mastricht's critique of the Cartesian doctrine of the Trinity in his Novitatum cartesianarum gangraena (1677). Mastricht opposed two types of Cartesian approaches to the Trinity. One was by Nicolaus Smiterus, who claimed that the Trinity could be proven rationally. The other was by Christoph Wittich, who argued that the doctrine could not be discussed rationally. Mastricht rejected both positions as benefiting anti-Trinitarian heretics such as the Socinians. Instead, Mastricht took a middle course between Smiterus and Wittich, arguing that while the Trinity could not be proven rationally, its credibility could be enhanced by rational argument. A multiscale hierarchical structural analysis of the universe employing an Integrated Computational Materials Engineering (ICME) methodology reveals that a trinitarian design occurs in nature that is premised upon Romans 1:20 wherein God revealed His nature in the things that He created. The first step in the creationeering® process includes systems engineering design that downscales to the lowest-length scales. We show that the universe can be viewed into multiple length scales of distinctive design volumes in which certain designed volumes illustrate a trinity. In particular, the lowest-length scales defined in nature as subatomic or atomic particles reflect the divine "substance" that makes the Godhead one and the higher-length scale, geometric forms differentiate the hylomorphic structures between the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit in the Trinity. Since God is a trinity, we would expect that He would have revealed it in nature based on Romans 1:20 (NKJV)--For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead. We validate this premise of God being a trinity and that He demonstrated this idea in nature as 57 different trinities are quantified. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

DOCTRINAL theology , *SIMPLICITY , *SOCIAL context , *TRINITY , *GOD - Abstract
In this paper, I aim to defend a robust concept of "person" as it relates to the Christian doctrine of the Trinity. I begin by situating the debate in the current context between Social Trinitarianism (ST) and Latin Trinitarianism (LT) and then zero in on Thomas Aquinas's view of the divine Persons as subsistent relations. I will argue that such an understanding of divine Persons has two significant difficulties. First, Aquinas's view of a strong doctrine of divine simplicity is susceptible to modal collapse. For on such a view, there are no real distinctions within God; such distinctions are conceptually only. If there are no real distinctions within God, then how can we make sense of the eternal relations within God? Second, I question whether a relation can be equated with a Person. After all, relations do not know things, perform actions, or love in the way Scripture portrays the divine Persons. I will then offer a constructive and more robust view of the divine Person—one that aligns with the control of Scripture. In doing so, I consider two objections, one centering on whether defenders of ST fall into tri-theism and the other on whether divine Persons can indeed work together. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

AFTERLIFE , *TRINITY , *VIS major (Civil law) , *GOD , *ETERNITY - Abstract
In this article, I explore the significance of the protological and eschatological dimensions of the Trinity, critiquing and building upon the Trinitarian doctrines of Karl Barth and Robert Jenson. The traditional doctrine of the Trinity tends to separate the Triune God's saving economy, which Barth attempts to reconcile via reclaiming their inseparability in his Church Dogmatics. However, Jenson critiques Barth for continuing to abstract the eternal life of God from God's act in history and instead proposes an eschatological view of the immanent Trinity as the temporal fulfillment of God's economic actions. By placing Barth and Jenson in mutual dialogue, I argue for a balanced integration of Barth's and Jenson's perspectives, asserting that both the primordial existence and the eschatological fulfillment of the Trinity are critical to understanding the Triune God as the Creator and Redeemer. At the end of the article, I propose a soteriological panentheism that aims to reconcile these dimensions. This scheme highlights the continuous, dynamic interaction between God's eternal nature and temporal creation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

FATHER-son relationship ,THEOLOGY ,ORIGINALITY ,TRINITY ,HUMANITY ,HOLY Spirit - Abstract
This article describes the Christological themes that Jerome of Stridon took up in his teaching and which are found in the Letters. The article consists of three parts: the relationship between the Father and the Son, the Deity of Jesus Christ and the Humanity of Jesus Christ. They are related to the defence of the truths of faith about the Trinity and to the formulation of Christological doctrine. At the same time, they show the Monk of Bethlehem as a concerned defender of a right theology. The research carried out reveals the Vulgate Author’s firm grounding in the era in which he lived, while at the same time showing the originality of some of his thoughts. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
Isaac Newton (1642-1727) is one of the most important figures in the history of science. He made groundbreaking discoveries in physics and mathematics, including the universal law of gravity and the laws of motion. He was also deeply interested in alchemy, both theoretical and practical. In addition to his scientific endeavours, Newton wrote throughout his adult life on early church history and biblical interpretation. Although his views on theology are not well known, Newton had important expansions in this area. In particular, it can be said that his views on the Trinity take a different approach from the tradition. The attributes of God, Christ and His atonement, the Father and the Son, are some of the main theological issues that Newton emphasised. It is known that he used the Bible as his main source of reference when analysing these topics, and that he was also familiar with the interpretations of Church Fathers such as Augustine, Athanasius and Origen. The main claim of this article is that Newton's understanding of Christianity is very close to the so-called Unitarianism, especially in terms of Jesus Christ. In this respect, This article analyses how Isaac Newton thought about the Trinity. The study aims to determine where Isaac Newton, who is notable for his anti-trinitarian views, can be placed within the Christian tradition on the question of the Trinity. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

19. "Some Have No Knowledge of God": The Resurrection and the Knowledge of God in 1 Corinthians.

- Abstract
Scholars have long debated whether 1 Corinthians is unified and, if so, whether the unity consists in an error on the side of the Corinthians and/or a theological or pastoral objective of Paul. The present argument is that the unifying thematic axis of 1 Corinthians as a letter consists in a Trinitarian knowledge of the God of Israel. This knowledge of God is given in Christ crucified and raised according to the Scriptures and through the Spirit, and this same knowledge addresses the twin concerns of idolatry and sexual immorality among the Corinthians. The epistle is accordingly an exercise in acknowledgment of God's revelation of himself to Paul and the churches and in doxological discipleship. If so, it follows that the unity of 1 Corinthians emerges from something prior to Paul and over his own intention, something self-commending even as it finds expression in Paul's written thought. God knows his people and is known in Christ through the Spirit by those whom he has raised with Christ to newness of life and filled with his Spirit. In this knowledge, they, the Israel of God, know where they have come from, who they are and must be, and where they are going. Everything Paul writes to them about all the gritty particulars of life derives from this reciprocal, lived knowledge. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

20. Trinitarian Exegesis of the Old Testament.

- Abstract
A number of key Old Testament texts cited in the New Testament are surveyed to determine whether they are amenable to prosopological exegesis (e.g., Dan 7; Ps 45; Ps 110), but in none of these texts is more than one divine figure present, nor do they depict one divine person speaking to or about another divine person. The Christian reader is not required to find the three persons of the Trinity differentiated and assigned different speaking roles in Old Testament texts. However, another mode of Trinitarian reading is credible. The follower of Jesus is not to equate the God of the Old Testament simply with the Father; rather the God of the Old Testament is the triune God, which means that many more Old Testament texts than often thought directly connect to Jesus. - Abstract
In early eighteenth-century Naples, Paolo De Matteis created a series of frescoes featuring the Trinity in imitation of a mural at the Escorial by his former teacher, Luca Giordano. By showing the Trinity with its patrilinear procession from the Father to the Son, the younger artist could claim an artistic lineage in competition with Francesco Solimena. De Matteis's and Solimena's Trinitarian murals reveal theological disagreements between religious orders in Naples. An unknown drawing in the Seattle Art Museum can be associated with De Matteis's group of works. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This article essentially historicizes the philosophical claims of Giorgio Agamben in his book, The Kingdom and the Glory: For a Theological Genealogy of Economy and Government, focusing only on the chapter "Mystery and the Economy," where Agamben deciphers the meaning of economy. Theologically, the Fathers of the Church employed the economic model taken from Greek philosophy to understand the central profession of Christian faith in the Trinity. Using the image of the Father as the King and the Son and the Holy Spirit as representatives, they were able to interpret the relationship between the sender and the sendee and God and the world. However, by historicizing it, the model remains wanting due to the incompatibility between the perfection of the Divine Kingdom and the imperfection of the human kingdom. The history of the economy shows the limitation to capturing the equality of the Trinity in society. We have cited some critical areas where the economic model remains human and fallible. The recent recovery of the teaching that the three divine persons share one operation in their outward works raises the question of whether or in what sense the human operation of Christ belongs to the Son alone. My thesis is that all three divine persons move and support the Son's human operation while the Son alone is the proper subject of his human operation. In order to substantiate this thesis, I will consider two main issues: (1) the relationship between divine movement and human energy and (2) the relationship between nature and person in Christ's human action. Thiamine Deficiency Complex is an emerging health concern for California’s Chinook salmon (Oncorhynchus tshawytscha). Low egg thiamine concentrations contribute to the condition being expressed in newly hatched fry leading to increased rates of early mortality. Increased rates of mortality in early life stages could further jeopardize already depleted populations of Chinook salmon in California’s river systems. In 2020, a study of egg thiamine concentrations at Coleman National Fish Hatchery and Livingston Stone Fish Hatchery revealed nearly 50% of the sampled populations contained egg thiamine concentrations below 5 nmol/g which is the egg thiamine concentration threshold for 95% fry viability. This study assesses egg thiamine concentrations from Chinook salmon sampled in the Klamath River Basin during their 2020 and 2021 annual spawning migrations. The study will also assess relationships between egg thiamine concentration and other variables including water temperature and distance of migration, and it will also evaluate relationships between egg diameter and egg thiamine concentration.See the media created for this project here: https://storymaps.arcgis.com/stories/b49ec1acfdc9435dabeeca0c2606eda1

Building on the philosophical groundwork regarding experience, this article examines the meaning of Christian experience from a Catholic perspective. Christian experience of God is here understood as a graced act through which a person becomes affectively aware of the meaning of the event of Christ and of the encounter with him. As participation in the divine life that Christ makes available through the Holy Spirit, Christian experience is also the gradual entering into the mystery of Christ and his mission to glorify the Father by means of the Spirit of both. After examining the biblical terminology for ‘experience’, the entry approaches the meaning of Christian experience by discussing some foundational experiences of God as portrayed in scripture and offers a synthetic account of what could be considered the basic structure of Christian experience. The entry deepens this account in three steps: it first presents the knowledge of God that is available to the transformed human sensorium, the so-called ‘spiritual senses’; it then examines the dynamic aspect of Christian experience through an account of ‘mystical life’ within which basic criteria for assessing ‘mystical experiences’ are offered; finally, it elucidates the knowledge of God available to the baptized within the school of charity one is called to live – the church, the family, and the religious community. The article concludes by describing the reasons for the positive appreciation of experience in the Roman Catholic Church that took place in the last century and presenting some of the most significant theological reflections on it.

Based on the new era, “curriculum ideology and politics” as the mainstream advanced educational concept is the focus of teaching reform in higher education institutions. The rapid development of the food industry has put forward higher requirements for “three comprehensive education”. Modern food testing technology, as a fundamental course in the food industry, includes rich knowledge of detecting food through modern technological means, while the course contents also contain rich ideological and political factors, and occupies an important position in China's food discipline. With moral education as the core, it comprehensively promotes the construction of ideological and political courses and meets the high-quality training of high-quality talents, which is the top priority of teaching reform. This study adopts descriptive, qualitative research methods and mixed approach, collecting data through practical operations, interview techniques, and literature review. This analysis utilized continuous participatory techniques, including stages of observation, practice, interviews, case studies, focus group discussions and literature research, presentation, and drawing conclusions. In view of the current practice and exploration, this article extracts the commonalities between science and engineering courses and ideological and political education for integration to break the singularity of teaching practice. At the same time, it constructs a “three in one” collaborative education mechanism to enhance the organic integration of ideological and political education and curriculum teaching, in order to achieve the goal of inheriting the past and opening up the future. By introducing the significance and construction strategies of ideological and political education in the course of Modern Food Testing Technology, this article aims to provide suggestions and references for the reform of ideological and political education in relevant courses in universities.

HOLY Spirit , *LORD'S Supper , *BAPTISM , *TRINITY - Abstract
The ideas of the Orthodox theologian Bishop John Zizioulas (1931-2023) particularly focus on trinitarian ecclesiology. For him, the Trinity consists of Persons in communion, and the nature of God himself is relational. Trinitarian unity is therefore the prototype, and the Church is its reflection. The essence of the Church is communion, which results from the fact that the Trinity is communion. Zizioulas' view of the Church is steeped in a trinitarian perspective. Zizioulas pointed out that the Church is based on the double divine economy: the work of Jesus Christ and the work of the Holy Spirit. The relationship of the Holy Trinity with the Church also has consequences for the structure of the Church. In this way, the Church becomes hierarchical in the sense in which the Holy Trinity itself is hierarchical: because of the specificity of the relationship. Becoming a person means breaking down the barriers of individualism and entering into communion life. This is realized in the Church through Baptism and Eucharist. The aim of the article is therefore an attempt to present and evaluate John Zizioulas' concept of trinitarian ecclesiology. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Sequence data assembly is a foundational step in high‐throughput sequencing, with untold consequences for downstream analyses. Despite this, few studies have interrogated the many methods for assembling phylogenomic UCE data for their comparative efficacy, or for how outputs may be impacted. We study this by comparing the most commonly used assembly methods for UCEs in the under‐studied bee lineage Nomiinae and a representative sampling of relatives. Data for 63 UCE‐only and 75 mixed taxa were assembled with five methods, including ABySS, HybPiper, SPAdes, Trinity and Velvet, and then benchmarked for their relative performance in terms of locus capture parameters and phylogenetic reconstruction. Unexpectedly, Trinity and Velvet trailed the other methods in terms of locus capture and DNA matrix density, whereas SPAdes performed favourably in most assessed metrics. In comparison with SPAdes, the guided‐assembly approach HybPiper generally recovered the highest quality loci but in lower numbers. Based on our results, we formally move Clavinomia to Dieunomiini and render Epinomia once more a subgenus of Dieunomia. We strongly advise that future studies more closely examine the influence of assembly approach on their results, or, minimally, use better‐performing assembly methods such as SPAdes or HybPiper. In this way, we can move forward with phylogenomic studies in a more standardized, comparable manner. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

DOCTRINAL theology , *TRINITY , *CHRISTIANS , *HERESY , *RESURRECTION , *HOLY Spirit , *APOSTASY - Abstract
In this essay I explain that the Christian doctrine of the Trinity was first developed as a response to Jewish claims of Christian apostasy and polytheism. At the beginning of Christianity, most of its converts were observant Jews. The Jewish authorities took steps to reclaim their lost sheep and to stem the flow of departures. Their primary intellectual ammunition in that effort was the claim that the Christians were polytheists, because they claimed to believe in two Gods–the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ. The Christians' apostasy was manifest by simple referring to the Mosaic commandment that righteous Israel should have only one God. This Jewish accusation of polytheism also neatly answered the inflammatory Christian charge that the Jews had crucified God and raised significant doubt about their claims of a special resurrection. The doctrine of the Trinity answered all those criticisms. God and Jesus Christ together were the one true God. But the nature of that oneness took some time to work out, and it is within a process of contending with pagan philosophical arguments and intra-Christian heretical positions, that a Christian doctrine of the Trinity begins to congeal. The work of Ante-Nicene Fathers—Justin Martyr, Theophilus of Antioch, Clement of Alexandria, Tertullian, Origen, Novatian, and others—whose voices we allow to be heard below—contain a trajectory of ideas that explain how the tri-unity is expressed in the momentous Creeds of Nicaea (AD 325) and Constantinople (381). This article provides an overview of Fr. Thomas Joseph White's book on Trinitarian theology, which is praised for its comprehensive account of Christian Trinitarian theology throughout history. The book includes critiques of theologians such as Karl Barth and Karl Rahner and makes efforts to include non-Catholic and Orthodox viewpoints. However, it is noted that some important elements from the Eastern Christian tradition are left out, and the book could have been more universal in its approach. The article also discusses the book's treatment of the Filioque controversy and raises questions about the translation of the Nicene formula. The author suggests that the patristic-Palamite and patristic-Thomist traditions can work together to engage with the modern world while remaining rooted in the biblical and patristic tradition. This article explores the differences in language and interpretation of the Trinity between the Thomistic and Orthodox traditions in Christian theology. The author argues that while both traditions speak of the same Trinity, they have distinct emphases and interpretations. The article suggests that these differences should be acknowledged and respected in ecumenical dialogue, rather than seeking to establish one tradition as superior to the other. The goal is to foster understanding and respect between the two traditions. [Extracted from the article]

"The Trinity: On the Nature and Mystery of the One God" by Thomas Joseph White, O.P. is a book that delves into the Christian mystery of the Trinity. It explores the similarities between contemporary and medieval Trinitarian theologies, with a focus on the Thomistic tradition and the theology of St. Thomas Aquinas. The book also examines the connection between the immanent Trinity and the economic Trinity, as well as the relationship between philosophy and theology. It seeks to reconcile the return to the sources movement with Thomism, emphasizing the continuity between the New Testament, Church Fathers, and councils. Additionally, an article discusses the concept of living Thomism, which involves studying Aquinas' work in its historical and cultural context and applying it to contemporary issues. It argues for the importance of understanding the Trinity in a metaphysical framework and emphasizes the need for a balanced partnership between philosophy and theology. [Extracted from the article]

This study examines the central category of shituf in the medieval kabbalistic treatise, Ma'arekhet ha-elohut. I argue that shituf is fundamental to the metaphysics of the Ma'arekhet and demonstrate its significance to the hermeneutics, sefirotic theosophy, doctrine of emanation, and cosmology of this seminal work. This reflects its importance in the anonymous author's historical context, even as his usage betrays undeniable idiosyncratic transvaluations that distinguish it from its functions in other contemporary texts—in the halakhic writings of his milieu, in Tibonine translations of medieval philosophical texts, and in the polemical writings of his apparent teacher, Shlomo Ibn Aderet.By comparing and contrasting its meanings in these variegated literary milieus, I expose the unusual discourse of unity found in the Ma'arekhet , which betrays the author's apparent intention to shift the orientation of the key term from its dominant usage in the era. Despite the novelty with which the author deploys the term shituf , I argue that polemical and halakhic associations lurk behind it and cast his unusual approach to the question of divine unity in sharp relief. The distinctive use of shituf in the Ma'arekhet thus reflects a fraught moment in the early history of kabbalah, in which a kabbalist chose to deal with the issue of divine unity in a manner all his own. This examination thus provides a heretofore unexposed vantage point for the current reassessment of the intersectionalities of philosophy, theology, religious polemics, and kabbalah in this period. TWENTY-first century ,THEOLOGY ,GOD ,PRACTICAL theology ,PROCLAMATIONS ,TRINITY ,GODS - Abstract
The paper discusses the legacy of the ecclesiastical community preserved in the ecclesial memory (tradition) intended for all times, and therefore also for the "challenges of today" inscribed in the particular "signs of the times". Without a doubt, this includes the desire of western man for a content, happy, and fulfilled life in all aspects of human life. The main aim of the article is to provide the most plausible answer about the meaning of man's existence and the paths to its fulfilment not only to the believer living in a certain cultural framework, but also to everyone who asks this question. Our answer cannot help but emerge from the Trinitarian mystery, which was, still is and will always be the foundation of proclamation and of all new pastoral paths, even for the twenty-first century Church, world and man. After all, if it is true that the essence of the triune God is both universal union and unification, it is the trinitarian relational Being that establishes the foundations for a new humanity. The mystery of the divine Trinity is thus implicit in both chapters of the lecture, in which we speak of a new Christian identity, of the phenomena of "the silent God", and of the mission of practical theology as a theology of life, that is to say, a theology that makes man's encounter with God possible. NATURAL law , *THEOLOGY ,CATHOLIC Church doctrines - Abstract
This paper is a slightly modified version of the keynote lecture given at the 2023 annual conference of the Catholic Theological Association of Great Britain. The theme of the conference was the role of law in the Christian life. The paper opened the conference by following the theological lead of the Common Doctor, St Thomas Aquinas, who treats theology as about God and all things, including law, in relation to God. In particular the paper looks at Aquinas's understanding in the Summa Theologiae of God as the eternal law. It examines how the eternal law meets Aquinas's criteria for what counts as a law, and links eternal law to other law, such as natural law, as well as to the doctrines of the Trinity, providence, the beatific vision, and Christology. TRINITY , *SCHOLARLY method - Abstract
Engaging recent scholarship on Bavinck's revitalization of the vestigia trinitatis and its connection to the organic motif, this essay identifies and examines two aspects of Bavinck's account that remain underdeveloped with scholarship on this topic. First, it explores the lingering importance triads within Bavinck's account of the vestigia. Bavinck may have developed a primarily non-numerical account of the vestigia, but he still acknowledges the place of triadic analogies, especially in humanity. Second, it contextualizes Bavinck's appropriation of the vestigia within his understanding of creation as relative, divine, self-communication in order to illuminate how creation can bear the imprint of the Trinity even as the Trinity remains unlike anything in creation. Much work has been done on Bavinck's triniform account of creation and his organic cosmology, but these accounts can often miss or gloss over the doctrines that Bavinck utilizes to carefully guards against a direct correlation between God and creation. WAR , *DIALECTIC , *TRINITY , *FIELD research - Abstract
This article aims to broaden the understanding of Operational Depth (OD) by rethinking how it can be perceived. The emphasis when doing so is dedicated to cognitive effects, thus another dimension of depth, compared to the mainstream physical- or temporal approaches to depth in military thought. The empirical focus draws on Israel and explicitly the case of the 2006 war between Israel and Hezbollah to provide an example where a lack of physical depth is skillfully handled, hence the title Wizards of Depth. The empiric inquiry is guided by an analytical framework, departing from a theoretical elaboration where OD is approached as a circular trinity: the ability to project, absorb, and manoeuver available coercive assets along offensive and defensive lines of operation. By using this definition in concert with the analytical framework, the article represents a mediation − a dialectic practice between the linear approaches to operations of the West and the more circular, often non-contiguous, and evolving perceptions found further east. When doing so, the article demonstrates how depth can be perceived in various ways, subsequently providing possible avenues to extend depth for actors beyond the Israeli example. A qualitative approach is employed, drawing on extensive fieldwork in Israel. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
The communicatio idiomatum (the exchange of divine and human properties or attributes), apparently discarded by the Council of Chalcedon in 451, becomes central to both Christology and the life of faith during the Lutheran Reformation. In our own century, the communicatio idiomatum has been expanded and deepened to incorporate all that is biological and even physical, turning the entire history of creation into the eschatological body of Christ, the second person of the Holy Trinity. "The First Atomic Bomb: The Trinity Site in New Mexico" by Professor Janet Farrell Brodie is a folk history that focuses on the people involved in building the bomb rather than the scientists who designed it. The book explores the origins and execution of the Manhattan Project, the impact of the Trinity test, and touches on issues of race and ethnicity within the project. It also discusses postwar conflicts over land ownership between the U.S. government and local inhabitants. This unique perspective sheds light on lesser-known aspects of the Trinity test. - Abstract
The "mercy seat" identifies a well-known artistic tradition that renders the Trinity for the sake of liturgical contemplation. While there is diversity in depiction, the motif visualizes God the Father holding forth God the Son while God the Spirit hovers as a dove. This essay explores the "mercy seat" tradition as visual theology, one that offers an imaginative grammar for apprehending the complexity of Trinitarian agency present in substitutionary atonement, while also respecting the triune mystery. The mercy seat motif thus offers a case study for how visual art might guide theological reflection and Christian spirituality in general. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Astragalus membranaceus is a medicinal plant mainly used in East Asia and contains abundant secondary metabolites. Despite the importance of this plant, the available genomic and genetic information is still limited. De novo transcriptome construction is recognized as an essential method for transcriptome research when reference genome information is incomplete. In this study, we constructed three individual transcriptome sets (unigene sets) for detailed analysis of the phenylpropanoid biosynthesis pathway, a major metabolite of A. membranaceus. Set-1 was a circular consensus sequence (CCS) generated using PacBio sequencing (PacBio-seq). Set-2 consisted of hybridized assembled unigenes with Illumina sequencing (Illumina-seq) reads and PacBio CCS using rnaSPAdes. Set-3 unigenes were assembled from Illumina-seq reads using the Trinity software. Construction of multiple unigene sets provides several advantages for transcriptome analysis. First, it provides an appropriate expression filtering threshold for assembly-based unigenes: a threshold transcripts per million (TPM) = 5 removed more than 88% of assembly-based unigenes, which were mostly short and low-expressing unigenes. Second, assembly-based unigenes compensated for the incomplete length of PacBio CCSs: the ends of the 5'/3' untranslated regions of phenylpropanoid-related unigenes derived from set-1 were incomplete, which suggests that PacBio CCSs are unlikely to be full-length transcripts. Third, more isoform unigenes could be obtained from multiple unigene sets; isoform unigenes missing in Set-1 were detected in set-2 and set-3. Finally, gene ontology and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes analyses showed that phenylpropanoid biosynthesis and carbohydrate metabolism were highly activated in A. membranaceus roots. Various sequencing technologies and assemblers have been developed for de novo transcriptome analysis. However, no technique is perfect for de novo transcriptome analysis, suggesting the need to construct multiple unigene sets. This method enables efficient transcript filtering and detection of longer and more diverse transcripts. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

TRINITY , *RELIGIOUS identity - Abstract
What essentially is human identity? Recent scholarship has observed the centrality of the doctrine of the Trinity for Jonathan Edwards' wide range of thought. Given this premise, Trinity would lead Edwards also to isolate the idea of the 'person' as the locus of human identity simply because we bear the imago Dei. Furthermore, since he identifies the essential characteristic of the divine Persons as relationality, and specifically for the pure acts of love by members of the Trinity, the human self is to be identified essentially with the term 'person' possessing in lesser degree the same relational capacity belonging to the divine Persons. Specifically, Edwards identifies 'consent and harmony' as the characteristic manner of that relational act that occurs in the Trinity, and therefore recurring in that relation between God and the human person from the beginning to the consummation of redemptive history. This essay examines Jean-Luc Marion's phenomenal model of the Trinity expounded in his recent book D'Ailleurs, la révélation (2020) and attempts to give an initial assessment from a theological perspective. Since Marion's programme is largely indebted to the Roman Catholic theologian Hans Urs von Balthasar's own project, first I give an overview of the Balthasarian phenomenal approach to revelation famously termed "aesthetic theology". Next, I present Marion's ideas concerning the convergence between the phenomenological and the theological enterprise. The third part examines the theological rationale behind Marion's phenomenal model of the Trinity that again can be seen as relying significantly on Balthasarian trinitarian theology. In this section, I give an overview of the idea of the relationship between the immanent and the economic Trinity, and I inspect notions, such as trinitarian distance, kenosis and Marion's own concept elsewhere. The fourth section gives an outline of Marion's phenomenal model of the trinity where he develops a new trinitarian triad based on a phenomenal approach. The closing section reflects on the advantages and difficulties of Marion's project. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

THEOLOGY ,HERMENEUTICS ,METHODOLOGY ,MENTAL work - Abstract
In this paper, I discuss Dante's conception of theology and rational thinking through a reading of the cantos of the Heaven of the Sun. I address the hermeneutical challenge of understanding the meaning of the peace which Dante identifies as the main feature of divine science, and I do so by employing liturgical hermeneutics, a methodological approach characteristic of the celebration of Mass. This hermeneutical approach looks simultaneously at the constative content of a text and its performative dimension and emphasises the importance of not concealing but taking into account the unavoidable personal dimension of any hermeneutical or intellectual activity. In this way, I challenge the conclusion that the reconciliation of the Wise Spirits is merely and only a textual reality and therefore a beautiful, poetic lie, and I instead show how Dante's poetic depiction has serious implications for our use and understanding of rational thought. His representation does not rest on the application of the principle of non-contradiction as the ultimate foundation of reality and rational thinking: in Dante's Paradiso, this abstract principle is replaced by a living reality, and the inner life of the Trinity is shown as being the true foundation for any possible knowledge and reality. LaCugna’s relational understanding of the Trinity: A theological embedding of the pastorate During the long history of the separation between theology and spirituality, the Trinity was regarded as an abstract theory with the result that the character of the pastorate to some extent developed correspondingly narrowly. In this article, it is indicated how a relational understanding of the Trinity could inform pastorate to a deeper theological grounding of the field. Catherine LaCugna’s valuable contribution to a relational understanding of the Trinity, points to the integral importance of the right relationship between God and humanity. The immanence of a triune God – God with us, with us and for us, a fusion between the divine and the human in oikonomia – is necessarily the healthy spiritual relational climate within which the church can practically and meaningfully operate; from confession to liturgical expressions in diakonia, koinonia and doxologia, and to ministry practices at all levels of pastoral care of the faith community. Contribution: The implications of the findings are a radical far-reaching change of spiritual approach within the church, contributing to a deeper and more serious practical application of relational principles for church leadership, pastoral caregivers and church members. Christians are to become more vividly aware of their relational responsibility in Christ, deliberately and creatively working towards their noble goal and upward call of God.
