Among the poetic genres and meters he experienced, a particular attention should be paid to six eclogues included in his collection entitled Varia poemata (1531): they testify to a peculiar blending of classical and modern influences ranging from Vergil to his own Neapolitan masters, Pontano and Sannazaro.
