Career has traditionally been associated with its external dimension. However, the emergence of the concept of career anchor/orientation broadened its scope to include an internal component that encompasses the subjective desire, values and talents of individuals. The current scientometric review focused on analyzing career anchor/orientation research over the last five decades (1975–2023). The articles/documents used for analysis were searched and located from a purposely selected highly recognized databases. A total of 111 documents (articles, books, book chapters, conference proceedings) were selected for analysis. The result showed that the conceptualization of career anchor/orientation has remained stable with only some changes and emergence of few rival models. While the existing literature has provided valuable insights into the concept of career anchors, there are several gaps that need to be addressed. Future research should strive to expand the current understanding of career anchors by exploring additional career anchors, investigating their organizational implications, examining their interaction with other individual and contextual factors, and studying their manifestation in non-traditional work settings. The research in the area has shown a swinging trend with lots of ups and downs. Career anchor/orientation publications were spread over more than 24 countries. The US is ranked 1st with 28% of the total publication and is followed by the Asia continent and the UK. Africa, only represented by two countries (South Africa and Nigeria), is ranked fourth. Most of the empirical research have mainly focused on assessing the distribution of the dimensions of career anchor/orientation with few relating it with job settings and outcomes. It is recommended that career anchor/orientation scientometric analysis should be done by searching articles from more databases. More to this, as national contexts and cultural differences play a critical role in shaping career anchor/orientation of individuals it is suggested that more research needs to be done across a number of countries. We expand on Cable and Turban's employer knowledge model to investigate how sector attractiveness, that is, image and reputation, predicts management graduates' sector-specific pursuit intentions, moderated by career anchors. The non-profit sector has the warmest image, followed by the public sector, while the latter is perceived as the least competent and shows the weakest reputation. Each sector's competence image (but not its warmth image) and reputation significantly predict sector-specific pursuit intentions. The security, service, and challenge anchors confirmed their unique positive moderating impact, respectively for the public, non-profit, and for-profit sectors, although the challenge anchor reduced the public sector's attractiveness. This study accentuates the importance of matching sector features with personal characteristics for understanding sector attractiveness to job seekers. The book review discusses "Reconceptualizing schizophrenia: The phenomenology of urhomelessness" edited by Kamens, S. The book explores the role of culture in the development of schizophrenia experiences and investigates whether there is a common underlying structure to these experiences across cultures. The author, Sarah Kamens, uses diverse methods and participants to examine the concept of schizophrenia as a profound sense of vulnerability and alienation called "urhomelessness." The book offers a culturally sensitive perspective on schizophrenia and has implications for phenomenological psychopathology. This study is about how lay persons perceive and represent artificial intelligence in general as well as its use in weaponised autonomous ground vehicles in the military context. We analysed the discourse of six focus groups in Estonia, using an automatic text analysis tool and complemented the results by a qualitative thematic content analysis. The findings show that representations of artificial intelligence-driven machines are anchored in the image of man. A cluster analysis revealed five dominant themes: artificial intelligence as programmed machines, artificial intelligence and the problem of control, artificial intelligence and its relation to human life, artificial intelligence used in wars and ethical problems in developing autonomous weaponised machines. The findings are discussed with regard to people's tendency to anthropomorphise robots despite their lack of emotions, which can be seen as a last resort when confronting an autonomous machine where the usual interpersonal understanding of intentions does not apply. Problem Statement: Early-career science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) faculty members are often challenged when identifying authentic diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) goals, objectives, and tasks for their research grant proposals. Advancing DEI has not been one person's job but rather the responsibility of a highly organized network within a system. Research development professionals have been and will continue to be critical resources for developing DEI plans and broadening participation. Their value is partly due to relationship-oriented processes that research professionals cultivate and shepherd as well as the inherently cross-disciplinary nature of the day-to-day work. Observation: In FY 19, 53% of the highest growth in R&D was in biological, biomedical, and health sciences followed closely by engineering. While many complexities are involved in advancing DEI within our universities, colleges, and workplaces, this article is focused on early-career STEM faculty and research development professionals' roles to facilitate DEI linkages within research. Analyze: First, descriptions of the recent federal definitions of diversity, equity, and inclusion are provided in research development; This is intended to anchor the discussion and propel the ideation for early-career faculty in federal funding solicitations. Next, a few examples of how early-career STEM faculty engaged in authentic DEI activities with a research development professional are provided. Reflect and Recommend: Finally, five potential DEI partners for collaboration and resources for early-career STEM faculty are provided to support brainstorming as faculty begin to develop their own DEI engagement for research. This paper investigates the relationship between women willingness to pay for water access and civic participation as social capital dimension. We use a dataset from a survey in three rural districts of Karamoja, one of the poorest regions of Uganda. Our results suggest that civic participation is not a silver bullet to empower women in rural areas; rather, its effect depends on both context and type of participation. In particular, participation in religious activities has a positive role, but only if it is strictly anchored to the progress of society in terms of gender equality improvement. This essay is a "thank you" to Ed Schein whose research on career anchors (and many other topics) shaped my own career directions. It starts with a choice between paleontology versus psychology and ends with my career identity as a scholar-practitioner. Throughout, Ed was a personal and vicarious influencer, challenger, thinking partner, and friend. Within the framework of theological anthropology, a robust answer to the question "what is a human being?" necessarily requires more than a detailed explication of physical, biological parts.1 Yet, theological treatments should engage empirical evidence about these constituent parts to anchor models of persons around what is empirically observable.2 To facilitate the necessary interdisciplinary dialogue for such a robust treatment of persons, this article provides a brief overview of select neuroscience literature on self. Specifically, I provide an initial introduction to measuring neural activity and the brain's default mode network (DMN), a region of the brain associated with internal, self-related thoughts dissociated from external input. Some researchers have suggested that the DMN is what makes the "self' special; rather than the self being a higher-order composite construct, it may be foundational to the brain's operations.3 Although the role of the DMN in understanding self has not reached scientific consensus, a consideration of the DMN and the results of its dysfunction may stimulate interdisciplinary dialogue in at least two ways related to questions of selves. First, given the ongoing discussion about the proper interpretation of DMN data, this area may benefit from non-empirical, interdisciplinary contributions toward understanding selves. Second, the centrality of the DMN to selves suggests a healthy DMN is necessary (though not sufficient) for a healthy self. Practices for healthy DMN functioning can contribute to and be enriched by philosophical and theological perspectives about telos and Christian practice. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The point of departure for this paper is the observation that time is central to the study of careers, although research on time and careers is not easy to do and is expensive. The paper does not attempt to minimize these practical difficulties, but nevertheless suggests new ways forward for time-based careers research. First, we review the reasons for time playing such a central role in the study of careers. Next, we examine the approach scholars from other disciplines, ranging from philosophy to organization studies, have taken to the study of time, drawing out a number of anchor points that, we suggest, form the basis for a new research agenda for career studies. Finally, we develop idea for this agenda across three broad themes, to do with conceptual issues, methodological issues, and areas of study that could fruitfully be opened up. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Media events theory, developed by Katz and Dayan in the 1990s, has become one of the most well-known and cited theories in communications research, well-aligned with television's central role in social life at the time. However, three decades since, in which events have spilled over to other media spaces thereby reshaping the theory's underlying concept, sports broadcasts have remained a consistently stable source of media events. Although the original theory addressed media events as a rare phenomenon of a distinct, well-defined nature, the current study describes sports events that globally now constitute a sequence of routine mega media events that effectively function as a key anchor in traditional television programing. In the era of multiple screens, content abundance, and flexible viewing times, media events have become classic linear television's programing core—instrumental in retaining its viewer base and in exploiting television's advantage over rival screens and content. As a result, sport has become television's main resource, thus indicating a need to revise elements of media theory. Fortunately or unfortunately communication in the current age is faster than our expectations sometimes. The culture of disinformation, propaganda, agenda and politically invented narrative easily catches success through the fastest available means of communication without giving an opportunity of doubt or second thought. The more significant in this regard is electronic media or satellite TV channels. Anchor persons appear on the screen of the TV channels soon after the incident and produce their own discourse projecting that they know the all truth about the occurrence. In this scenario, it seems appropriate for the discourse analyst to step forward and analyse the narrative or discourse objectively. Critical discourse analysis is an interdisciplinary approach for investigation of discourse. The study in hand critically analyses electronic media discourse through integrated analytical frame work to highlight various aspects of the discourse which are usually kept hidden or go unnoticed by the viewers in the immediate context. Research has shown that minority newscasters can increase media interest and trust among minority viewers, while also finding people of color are underrepresented as members of the media. This study collected race and gender data of 4,317 newscasters from 64 U.S. television markets, as well as their news directors and general managers. It examines relationships between diversity of on-air staffs and race and gender of management, market size, and location. The study found news teams are significantly more diverse at stations with minorities in leadership positions. It considers the implications of these findings using representation theory. This study explores the impact of television news anchor delivery mistakes on message and source credibility evaluations and whether gender, news context, and empathic concern moderate this effect. The results of an experiment showed that viewers have the highest appraisal of anchors with perfect delivery, and evaluation suffers precipitously with increased mistakes. When evaluating short news clips, viewers were more tolerant of the female news anchor making three delivery mistakes than the male, but both genders suffered equally when the number of mistakes increased to five. The impact of delivery mistakes on credibility evaluations was consistent in both morning and evening news. Finally, viewers with a low level of empathetic concern reported a harsher view of anchors making mistakes than viewers with a high level of empathetic concern. However, experiences of parasocial interactions evaluation suffered the most in the three delivery mistakes condition and saw an increase in the five mistakes condition. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper investigates the relationship between finiteness and clause size, taking Romance varieties with an irrealis subordinator as a case study: che/chi in upper southern Italian dialects (USIDs), cu in Salentino, mi/mu/ma in southern Calabrian, and să in Romanian. The last three of these, but not the first, also replace many uses of the infinitive. On a view of finiteness as the result of anchoring of Tense and Person (Groothuis 2020), these irrealis clauses constitute a different degree of finiteness when selected by a functional verb than when selected by a lexical verb. The question thus arises of whether a reduction in finiteness corresponds to a reduction in clause structure. Tests show that these irrealis subordinators form a non‐homogeneous category. Only USID che/chi and Romanian să can be analysed as regular complementisers. Salentino cu and southern Calabrian mu, in contrast, occupy a v‐related position when selected by aspectuals, a T‐related position when selected by modals, and FinP when selected by lexical verbs. The reduced degree of finiteness thus does not correspond to a reduced clause in all varieties. The conclusion is therefore that the same level of finiteness does not necessarily translate into the same amount of functional structure. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Psychoanalysis has intensively explored the pathology of self-knowledge by making the unconscious conscious in the analytic relationship but it has long presupposed the function of the self as a mental agent and has not specifically investigated it. As a result, many psychoanalytic conceptions fail to address an essential characteristic of the human self, namely, its dual structure, which enables humans to reflect on themselves as a mental agent in the first place. The theories of the self of Winnicott and Modell are presented, which seek to address this duality of the self. The article draws on recent findings from developmental research, neurobiology, phenomenology and trauma research to show how basally a sense of one's own agency and a reflexive mentality are anchored in a person's sense of self. Due to its importance in economic growth, interest in entrepreneurial behavior (EB) is expanding swiftly.in this study, we examine the role of career anchors in predicting entrepreneurial behavior as well as the mediation role of entrepreneurial passion for founding (EPF) in this relationship. Build on Schein's, Career dynamics: Matching individual and organizational needs, 1978 and Schein's, Career anchors: Discovering your real values, 1990 career anchor theory we propose that (Technical, General managerial, Autonomy, Entrepreneurial Creativity, Pure challenge and Sense of Service) anchors relate positively to the EPF and this passion positively mediates the relationship between these types of anchors and EB. on the other hand, we propose that lifestyle anchor (LSA), as well as security anchors (SA) negatively, relate to EPF negatively mediates the relationship between LSA, SA and EB build on data collected from 444 potential entrepreneurs by using a dependable questionnaire; we found support for our hypotheses, for example, we found that people with entrepreneurial creativity anchor tend to have higher EPF which motivates them to engage in entrepreneurial activities, On the other hand, people with a lifestyle anchor tend to care more about their families and careers balance which affects their EPF and subsequently EB. Relying on the field of e-commerce live broadcast, the features of clothing anchors are divided into four dimensions: charm features, recommendation features, display features and interaction features ・ The intermediate variable of social presence is introduced to construct a theoretical model of e-commerce live broadcast consumers9 purchase intention. Based on the questionnaire survey data collection, using SPSS 23.0 software and Amos 23.0 software to analyze the data, it is concluded that the features of charm 9 recommendation 9 display and interaction of the clothing anchors have a significant positive impact on consumers9 purchase intentions. Introduction: Leaders in postgraduate medical education are responsible for implementing educational change. Although difficulties in implementing change are described both in the general leadership literature as well as in the field of medical education, knowledge of what characterises successful change leadership in postgraduate medical education is limited. The aim of this study is to explore the process used by educational leaders in successful change implementation in postgraduate medical education. Methods: Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 16 programme directors to explore how they had implemented successful change projects. The sample consisted of programme directors who had reported in a previous survey having high educational impact at their workplace. Interviews were analysed using Ödman's qualitative interpretative method. Results: The interviews identified similarities in how participating programme directors had implemented changes. Five interconnected themes crystallised from the data: (1) belonging to a group, (2) having a vision and meaning, (3) having a mandate for change, (4) involving colleagues and superiors, and (5) having a long-term perspective. Conclusions: Our findings illuminate important aspects of successful change management in postgraduate medical education. Change is ideally based on a clear vision and is implemented in coalition with others. A long-term strategy should be planned, including involvement and anchoring of key persons in several discrete steps as change is implemented. While some of these findings are congruent with the general literature on change management, this study emphasises the importance of a mandate, with successful change leadership dependent on coalition and the facilitation provided by the next level of leadership. The COVID-19 public health crisis forced all educators to explore technology in the largest test of online teaching during the spring of 2020. Included in the population of educators were the studio music faculty steeped in a tradition of sideby- side teaching. This research study explored the application of lighting and sound technology adapted to enhance the experiences in a 10-week, fully online course of one-to-one private lessons with a music studio faculty member and his students during summer 2020. The students received condenser microphones, headphones, and webcams with instructions for hardwiring into their home internet connection. The faculty member used the same materials plus a speaking microphone overhead on a boom along with three-point lighting: key, fill, and backlights. The lighting was used to ensure a bright studio, much like a television anchor employs. Students noticed the microphone use by instructor and commented his adaptation to the virtual lessons were more flexible while one participant exclaimed he grew more as a musician and covered more material in virtual lessons than in previous face-to-face lessons with the same instructor. The faculty member noticed better sounds from students when using the condenser microphones and less feedback because of the closed back headphones. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

High‐wealth individuals are typically underrepresented or completely missing in population surveys. The lack of comprehensive national registers on high‐wealth individuals in many countries challenged previous attempts to remedy this under‐representation. In a novel research design, we draw on public data on the shareholding structures of companies as a sampling frame. Our design builds on the empirical regularity that high‐wealth individuals are likely to hold at least part of their assets in the form of shareholdings. Based on data from over 270 million companies worldwide, we select all individuals who are both German residents and registered shareholders of companies. In a pretest, we interviewed 124 households from a gross sample of 2,000 anchor persons. Our analysis shows that values of shareholdings from register data highly correlate with individual ranks in the wealth distribution, that the quality of personal information, particularly the residential address, is sufficiently high for subsequent interviewing, and that the approach can fill a major data and research gap in the study of high‐wealth individuals. This article centers on analyzing the key points (sequences and outlines) of the news items included on the telecasts of Spain's leading television channels; the focus is the construction of the natural catastrophes and risks of greatest relevance. The text also analyzes the principal roles of the speakers and sources of information appearing in these television news stories, the main characteristics of the audience's reception of the items, and the view of experts who advocate specialized journalism of risk and catastrophes. Analyzing the broadcasting communication from a historical perspective, one can easily observe that, at the dawn of television, the anchor was a key-figure in the nomenclature of the television industry staff. As a rule, the anchors of the television stations presented the news, as well as large documentary and artistic programs, being also involved as linking between programs for different advertising announcements or humanitarian ones. Once the public sector became a democratic one in the former USSR, the "institution" of anchors was considered obsolete, stressing upon the idea that they were nothing but "docile voices of power", who would indoctrinate people with the principles of communist ideology. As an aftermath of this trend in the national broadcasting, some anchors were compelled to re-orientate their profile, the other ones had to sack, because, the editor or the author-presenter increasingly gained importance, with alternating success, in the foreground of news production. And when the television debates and talk shows literally "invaded" the media, the moderator becomes an iconic figure of the television. Talk shows are a kind of launch pad for becoming television stars.
