Competent teachers are attributed to student performance, school effectiveness, and the efficiency of an entire education system. Hence, this study compares the respondents' teaching proficiency across their profiles and correlates to their academic performance. The study utilized 30 pre-service secondary teachers of Eastern Samar State University Salcedo selected by complete enumeration, a descriptive comparative and correlational research design, and a questionnaire. Frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation were applied for descriptive analysis; t-test for comparison of respondents' teaching proficiency; and Pearson's correlation coefficient for the relationship between academic performance and teaching proficiency. The study revealed that respondents had a proficient teaching proficiency. Specifically, they were proficient in subject matter knowledge, lesson planning, classroom management, instructional strategies and motivation, communication skills, questioning skills, and professionalism. They have a very good academic performance in both professional education and major field of specialization. Furthermore, the study found no significant difference in the teaching proficiency across the respondents' sex and age. However, a significant relationship was found between academic performance and teaching proficiency. Based on the findings, it is recommended that remedial classes on contents, pedagogies, and principles be provided especially for those respondents with low academic performance, to improve their teaching proficiency.

Higher education institutions continually increase the demands on college instructors. Yet, all too often, many college instructors have had little to no preparation for teaching in higher education. What is needed is a comprehensive and clear list of characteristics expected of effective college teachers, both in-person and online, comprised by those who are focused on studying the subject matter deeply. To assess the characteristics deemed essential for college instructors to possess, a nationwide, modified Delphi technique was employed, eliciting opinions from an established panel of experts. At the conclusion of a three-round Delphi study, 46 of the 55 original items submitted by the panelists reached consensus of agreement. The 46 items were then categorized to establish six overarching themes associated with effective college teaching. The categorized themes and characteristics determined in the study of effective college teachers should be used as a comprehensive and clear list to provide college faculty with expectations of effective teaching. Additional research is needed to convert the items found in this study into an effective college teaching instrument. Such an instrument should be validated for use across academia as a starting point for the development, training, and support of future and current college teachers.

This research examined the relationship between job resources (social support, job autonomy, and colleague feedback) and innovative work behaviors of university teachers based on social exchange theory. The mediating role of psychological empowerment (meaning, competence, self-determination, impact) was also examined in the relationship between job resources and innovative work behaviors. Based on the established measurement scales, the questionnaire was used to collect data through quota sampling and purposive sampling methods. Empirical investigation was conducted with confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation modeling analysis. The results reveal that job resources were significantly and positively correlated with innovative work behaviors, and psychological empowerment mediated the relationship between job resources and innovative work behaviors.

This study examined the role of technology integration and teachers' professional competence in developing 21st-century learning. Present studies show a significant gap between technology integration and teachers' competency in developing 21st-century learning. This study highlights the pivotal roles of technology integration and teacher competence in modern education. In an era where technology has transformed teaching and learning, understanding the synergy between these two factors is crucial for educational advancements. The study employs a descriptive quantitative approach. It seeks to understand the current state of technology integration and teacher competence by collecting data from in-service teachers within the English teacher's forum. The data collection methods encompass questionnaires and interviews to gain comprehensive insights into the subject matter. The research design of this study primarily relies on a descriptive approach, which involves the systematic collection and analysis of data to describe and understand the existing situation. The data-gathering process, through questionnaires and interviews, ensures a comprehensive exploration of the research questions. The results show that technology integration and teacher competency significantly influence the development of 21st-century learning.

The objective of this research is to examine teachers' competence in designing activities after engaging in professional development activities aimed at enhancing teaching design in order to develop students' thinking abilities that are contextually appropriate. The participants consist of 5 elementary school science teachers from schools. The research employed semi-structured interviews and classroom observation as research instruments. The findings reveal that teachers engaged in self-development through observation and learning from their peers within the community of practice (CoP). They receive advice and feedback from fellow teachers and apply these insights to improve their activities. Consequently, teachers are able to continuously refine and develop their teaching approaches to align with students' contexts. This approach facilitate diversification in thinking and learning management, as well as collaborative teamwork to enhance teaching methods. As a result, engaging and interesting thinking development activities are incorporated into student learning, along with the creation of a seamless learning-promoting environment. Collaborative teamwork in instructional design and problem-solving further afford teachers the opportunity for additional self-learning and personal development. This collaborative approach also contributes to fostering cognitive diversity and relieved the need for individual teachers to undertake all tasks independently.

This study aims to evaluate the online measurement and evaluation course in teacher training programs during the COVID-19 process. In the study, we sought answers to two primary research questions: What are the opinions of teachers and school administrators regarding their measurement and evaluation competencies? Does the online "measurement and evaluation" course have the qualities of an effective program in the "antecedents, transactions, and outcomes" dimension? We structured the research into two phases within a multistage evaluation design framework. The findings show that there were problems and positive aspects in all dimensions of the program. For example, adapting teacher training programs developed before COVID-19 to distance education processes was challenging. In distance education, some practices contradict the modern teaching and assessment approach. Such problems were reflected in teachers' acquisition of measurement and evaluation competencies. The achievement test we applied to the observed groups also confirmed these findings. For this reason, responsible organizations should not ignore the fact that we cannot renounce distance education. During program development, they should reconsider how the teachers will acquire measurement and evaluation competencies and how we will measure and evaluate in distance education.

This study aims to understand the experiences of Turkish teachers in blended learning, the challenges they encountered, and their recommendations in this regard. The authors adapted the Blended Teaching Readiness Instrument (BTRI) (Archibald et al., 2021) to Turkish. Secondly, the reasons, challenges, and suggestions of teachers regarding blended learning were investigated. A total of 325 Turkish teachers were selected as the participant group in this survey. A criterion purposeful sampling method was used in the data collection process. The statistical analysis led to the conclusion that the BTRI, which was translated into Turkish, is a valid and reliable tool for measuring teachers' levels of readiness for blended learning in Turkiye and it can also be used to gauge the readiness of teachers. ort he qualitative aspect, inductive content analysis was used for analyzing open-ended questions of the instrument. The study both served as a reflection of Turkish teachers' positive and negative experiences regarding blended learning practices and a scale adaptation study for measuring the blended teaching readiness of Turkish teachers. It is considered that the results can help both pre-service and in-service teachers to be sensitive toward their blended teaching competencies. This study also has the potential for informing teacher education departments to equip prospective teachers with required disciplinary knowledge along with digital competencies.

The purpose of the research is to develop a model of future primary school teacher training based on the traditions of the Kazakh people. The practical results of the research are that the article is focused on developing professional training for future primary school teachers based on the ethnopsychological and ethnopedagogical traditions of the Kazakh people. The results and the proposed model can be used in forming primary school teachers' professional training and developing their professional competencies in modern conditions, considering the ethnopsychological and ethnopedagogical aspects of vocational training.

Despite growing interest in evaluating the social and emotional learning of students and the development of standardized assessment tools for this purpose, there remains a dearth of validated instruments for evaluating teachers' social and emotional skills. We set out to address this knowledge gap by investigating the psychometric characteristics of the Social-Emotional Competence Teacher Rating Scale (SECTRS) questionnaire, an instrument originally developed and validated in North America. Participants were 572 teachers from Italy (n=324), Latvia (n=139), and Portugal (n=109) ranging from 40 to 59 years of age. We performed confirmatory factor analysis procedures to validate a four-factor model measuring Teacher-student relationships, Emotion regulation, Social awareness, and Interpersonal relationships. The data supported this factorial structure, with a total of 14 items included in the final model. The outcomes of a multi-group comparison indicated that the model exhibited partial invariance, up to and including metric invariance, across the three cultural settings. We discuss these findings in relation to selecting appropriate instruments for assessing the social and emotional skills of teachers in different cultural contexts.

Awareness of child safety issues has increased worldwide, particularly in developed countries. Several policies have been adopted, and the mandates for teachers' compliance have been reinforced as well. However, the definition of child safety tends to be ambiguous, and teachers face difficulties in collecting evidence on violations concerning student safety owing to the sensitive nature of the problems. This situation reveals the issue of imperfect and incomplete information, terms used to refer to the absence of information about other actors and the rules of the game. A school reform approach that originated in Japan, known as School as Learning Community (SLC), effectively addresses this issue. SLC was originally developed for re-establishing learning in school communities. This study aims to examine how SLC can reduce imperfections in and incompleteness of information in the framework through both internal and external collaboration.

Inclusive education is the process of integrating individuals with disabilities into a regular classroom, and it helps reflect the world's commitment to equal educational opportunities as outlined in UNCRPD. It emphasizes the importance of embracing diversity and promoting acceptance among students who are impaired. This paper examines why it is important to include learners with impairments into mainstream classes and the favorable attitudes towards inclusive education among teachers, administrators and students. Many barriers hinder its implementation such as lack of professional development for teachers, insufficient facilities for learning, difficulty in creating relationships between classmates, inadequate parent participation, and absence of legislations and policies that are aligned towards its practice. The role of several educational theories like social constructivism, humanistic approach and universal design for learning (UDL) have been discussed to show their relevance in addressing challenges found in inclusive learning. Social Constructivism shows how collaborative work can be used inside the classrooms so that peer rejection will be lessened. The approach that is humanistic stresses about the comprehensive growth all individuals while addressing the needs of learners with disabilities. UDL focuses on promoting an accessible learning environment and eliminating physical barriers to foster successful growth for all students. Moreover, this article underlines relevance of awareness on how children with impairments can be incorporated into conventional classrooms and benefits which inclusive education has for both disabled and non disabled students. In conclusion, this paper emphasized the transformative nature of inclusive education in fostering a learning atmosphere that promotes diversity, empathy, and acceptance, contributing to students' overall development.

This study explores university students' perceptions of how the classroom learning environment and Economics teachers' instructional practices promote learning in higher education (HE). The purpose of the study was to develop and empirically test a framework that characterises quality Economics instruction. Based on a literature review, a conceptual framework was built consisting of 75 attributes related to quality teaching and learning of Economics. To test the validity of the framework, a cross-sectional survey design was adopted to collect the data on students' evaluation of teachers' effectiveness in promoting students learning. The study respondents comprise 403 students sampled from four public universities in Ghana. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis suggests that the conceptual framework is valid and reliable and can effectively be used to evaluate quality Economics instruction in higher education. The results indicate key areas that are beneficial concerning student perceptions of teacher effectiveness in promoting student learning. These include planning and preparation, scaffolding of instruction, classroom communication, classroom management, classroom learning environment, and teacher characteristics. We argue that these factors are significant predictors of quality Economics instruction in HE and suggest a model that can be used as an effective evaluation tool or training toolkit for ensuring high-quality teaching involving Economics. HE authorities need to constantly evaluate Economics teaching in the key domain areas based on students' feedback to improve upon quality teaching and learning.

Digital confidence has been increasingly cited as key for staff and student development in tertiary education, often alongside concepts of digital competence or digital capabilities. In the past three years it has formed part of the discussion in our sector (higher education) around adapting to this time of rapid change, especially during the period of COVID-19 emergency learning and teaching moved online. While digital confidence has long been a focus of our learning technology staff support team, we noticed through discussion with peers and previous reading and research, that our understanding of what digital confidence is and how it develops sometimes differed from the way in which it was represented in the journals and grey literature that we were initially reading. This prompted our scoping review of the literature, exploring whether there is a shared understanding of digital confidence in the tertiary sector and how its relationship to digital competence and similar concepts is understood. The review also discusses implications for organisational digital transformation strategies, student employability, and the wellbeing of students and staff, as well as noting the important role learning developers could play in supporting the development of digital confidence.

As a form of implementing Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) in educational institutions, an appropriate learning model is needed, which also accommodates aspects of spirituality. Before developing a model, baseline data is needed, so a broad-scale or national needs analysis is needed. This research aims to determine the profile of spirituality-based action competence for sustainability (ACS) among prospective biology teacher students throughout Indonesia. This research is a cross-sectional survey. The target respondents are students of LPTK biology education study programs in Indonesia. The target population size is 650 people, so based on the Krejcie and Morgan table, the minimum sample size with a confidence level of 95% and a margin of error of 5% is 620 students. The data collection instrument used in this research is the action competence for sustainability instrument based on spirituality (ACSIS). Data on respondent characteristics were analyzed using frequencies and percentages. The mean and standard deviation of scores were calculated for each item. Comparisons of two groups of students were analyzed using the Mann-Whitney U Test, while comparisons of more than two groups used the Kruskal-Wallis H Test. We discuss interesting findings in this research, including the aspects of spirituality in ACS among prospective biology teacher in Indonesia.

The purposes of this article were: 1) to study the current condition, the need for developing a growth mindset to strengthen the learning management of primary school teachers, and 2) to study guidelines for developing a growth mindset to strengthen learning management among primary school teachers under the Office of the Basic Education Commission. There were 2 stages of research: Step 1: Study the current conditions. It is necessary to develop a growth mindset to strengthen the learning management of primary school teachers. The sample consisted of 427 primary school teachers in the academic year 2022 derived by multi-stage sampling. Step 2: Study ways to develop a growth mindset to strengthen learning management among primary school teachers under the Office of the Basic Education Commission. The group of informants is qualified by studying the best practices of 5 persons by specific sampling. The research instruments were: 1) a 5-level estimation scale questionnaire, 2) a semi-structured interview form, and 3) a 5-level estimation scale development guidelines assessment form. Statistics used to analyze data include means, standard deviations, priority sorting of PNI[subscript modified] data, and content analysis. The results of the research showed that: 1) the overall current condition and the overall aspect are moderate, and the overall desirable conditions are substantial. It was found that the growth mindset strengthens teachers' learning management. There is a need for development in all 6 areas. In order: Learning efforts, Acceptance of failures, Acceptance of criticism, Learning challenges, Development paradigms, and Motivation for success; 2) Approaches to developing a growth mindset to strengthen the learning management of primary school teachers under the Office of the Basic Education Commission. This can be done by developing all 6 items and 20 approaches. There are development methods that consist of workshops, and learning from other people. Integration in operations, Self-study, Building a professional learning community, Counselor, and Mentoring.

The teaching of English First Additional Language (EFAL) in South Africa is gradually changing from the traditional style because of the devastating effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. Efforts are being made to stimulate learners' interest in learning which include using information communication technology (ICT) in the form of e-learning to enhance understanding. The outbreak of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) was a major challenge as it compelled teachers to engage in online teaching -- even those who were never trained in the use of technology. A qualitative research method in the form of semi-structured interviews was used to collect data from 15 EFAL teachers who were purposefully selected on the basis that they used e-learning to supplement their face-to-face teaching. I found that the integration of e-learning to the traditional physical contact style was essential in improving the teaching of EFAL. The majority of participants, however, highlighted that they still encountered challenges related to heavy workload and efforts to complete items listed in the work programme. Inadequate training of teachers on e-learning, a lack of resources and poor connectivity also acted as barriers to the full implementation of blended learning, which considerably improves learners' performance.

This study aimed to validate a scale for subjectively measuring teaching competencies for innovation in higher education. The scale was developed by creating a set of items that underwent content validity through the Delphi technique and face validity. A survey was then conducted with 523 higher education professors. The resulting scale, called the STW-ICE Scale, consists of four dimensions: continuing education, creativity, digital fluency, and scientificity. We found that the scale has psychometric properties that allow for subjective measurement of the proposed competencies. The SmartPLS and SPSS software were used for data assessment. Additionally, we found high levels of teaching skills in the sample for all dimensions. Based on these findings, this study successfully achieved its goal of developing and validating a scale. We hope that this scale will be used not only for classificatory diagnoses but also to encourage reflection on teaching practices in higher education with a focus on innovation.

In this study, the impact of training supported by the TUBITAK 2237-A Grant Program for Scientific Training on the self-efficacy of pre-service science teachers (PSSTs) in implementing the constructivist approach and delivering distance education (DE) was investigated. The research employed a single-group pretest-posttest experimental design, a quantitative research design. The study's population comprised PSSTs enrolled in science teaching programs across 27 universities in Turkiye, with a sample of 32 preservice teachers selected through criterion sampling. Data were collected using the distance education competence scale and self-efficacy scales for applying the constructivist approach. The analysis involved both descriptive and statistical methods. The results revealed a significant enhancement in the self-efficacy of PSSTs in both distance education delivery and the application of the constructivist approach through the online education. This improvement was attributed to the direct experiences and mentor support gained during the training program, as discussed in the study.

The "Guru Penggerak" program is Indonesia's "Merdeka Belajar" initiative, aiming to enhance the quality of education by equipping teachers to implement differentiated instruction (DI). This study investigates its implementation focusing on Indonesian language teachers who have been qualified as the "Guru Penggerak." Drawing on a qualitative case study conducted in three Indonesian senior high school teachers, this research explores how teachers integrate DI across content, process, and product domains in language education. Findings reveal that teachers adeptly differentiate content by curating diverse learning materials and collaboratively establishing classroom agreements. Process differentiation entails tailoring instructional delivery to accommodate varied learning styles and readiness levels, employing specialty grouping and facilitating student engagement. Moreover, teachers differentiate product by offering multiple avenues for demonstrating learning outcomes and leveraging technology for flexible assignment submission. Through DI, teachers create inclusive and engaging learning environments, promoting deeper comprehension, critical thinking, and student autonomy. This study underscores the transformative potential of DI in language teaching, advocating for pedagogical approaches that prioritize individual student needs and foster linguistic proficiency.

The study of language and literature today are inseparable. Unfortunately, the phenomenon of Indonesian learning in junior high schools is in a hesitant position due to the lack of formulating literature as teaching material including indigenous wisdom-based literature that can threaten the extinction of indigenous literature. At Buru Island, literature learning is integrated into Indonesian subjects, but the teachers there are more focused on teaching language using general literature rather than indigenous wisdom literature. Therefore, this study aimed to explore the situation and needs analysis of the indigenous wisdom-based literature in teaching Indonesian language at Buru Island. To achieve the objectives of the study, the researchers employed Research and Development (R&D) applying Borg and Gall's steps. This method has certain procedures for the information collecting data related to the situation and needs analysis of 350 junior high school students through questionnaire distribution, interview, and observation toward the process of Indonesian teaching in the classroom. The situation of learning literature in the study involved (1) the law of local content learning, (2) curriculum, (3) syllabus, (4) lesson plan, (5) coursebooks, (6) teachers' competence, and (7) stakeholders' concerns, while, the students' need analysis involved (1) current ability and interest in literature, (2) feedback of students' ability and interest in literature, (3) literature skills priority, (4) learning style, (5) literature learning facilities and infrastructure, (6) literature materials on indigenous wisdom, (7) coursebook of indigenous wisdom-based literature, and (8) learning approaches and strategies based on indigenous wisdom. The result shows that there were still many shortages in implementing of indigenous wisdom-based literature learning in junior high schools, so students' ability and interest were lack. Therefore, the situation and need analysis becomes very important to be explored and to be a consideration in designing course books in indigenous wisdom-based literature for the future.

Objectives: The present study describes the utilization frequency and competencies of educational technologies among academics at a university in Turkey during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: Participants were 391 faculty members and lecturers working in the faculties and vocational schools of a Turkish university during the 2020-2021 academic year. A survey included questions regarding the use of educational technologies and perceived competency in the use of those technologies. Results: Academics are more familiar with distance education than hybrid or blended learning. Academics reported that blended learning, hybrid learning, and distance education provide more effective education on integrating technology but report that they mostly prefer face-to-face teaching after the COVID-19 pandemic. The top three self-reported competencies are MS Office, the university academic information system, and meeting and course management tools. More information is needed about educational technology approaches and various applications such as augmented reality, simulations, assessments, and video tools. Conclusion: Faculty use of digital tools is limited, they experience significant deficiencies in using various digital tools and systems, and they are less competent in applying these tools. Academics still consider traditional face-to-face teaching as the primary choice if they are free to make decisions in the context of education and training. Thus, there is a need for professional development focused on pedagogical educational technology approaches, models, and methodologies. Implications: Various factors such as the course type, subject matter, education level, technical infrastructure, and technological and methodological support should be evaluated within the context of digitizing universities.

The article traces aspects of the existing training of foreign language teachers in the pedagogical use of digital technologies in foreign language teaching. Specifically, it reflects the views of teachers who teach foreign languages in secondary education in Greece on the content, objectives and methodology of training programs concerning the utilization and application of digital technologies in teaching practice. Semi-structured in-depth interviews were implemented as the research tool to gather teachers' perspectives. The findings of the research were fed by a sample of 15 foreign language teachers (regular and contractual) selected by the method of "simple" random sampling and who were serving in the Secondary Education of the prefecture of Thessaloniki between October 20-20 November 2023. The findings show that, on the one hand, foreign language contractual teachers have not been trained in the integration of digital media in teaching, and on the other hand, although a large percentage of regular foreign language teachers have been trained in the application of digital technologies in teaching practice and express satisfaction with the training programs, they do not feel secure and often hesitate to integrate digital material into their lessons. Deterring factors include lack of teaching time, classroom management, technical support, concerns about the security of personal data, and entrenched teaching beliefs associated with the traditional model of foreign language learning. They seek systematic training that links theoretical knowledge with its application in real-life foreign language classroom situations, support and updating of their knowledge. In summary, according to the findings of the research, training programs for the use and pedagogical use of digital media in foreign language teaching should be open to all teachers (permanent and contractual), providing practices for immediate implementation, provide teaching examples and scenarios to foster digital culture and digital literacy, alongside the development of language and communication skills, which are the basis for teaching a living foreign language.

This article describes the significance of equipping preservice teachers with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively approach behavioral challenges with early elementary students (i.e., kindergarten to third grade). Early elementary years are crucial for a child's academic and social development, and students who exhibit challenging behaviors early often face academic struggles and potential long-term negative effects. When educators are prepared to effectively manage challenging behaviors, they provide students with the support needed to succeed. This article also highlights the need for teacher preparation programs to include coursework and practical training emphasizing evidence-based practices in behavior management, effective communication, and behavioral supports. By doing so, teachers can create inclusive and supportive classrooms, reduce disruptive, unexpected behaviors, and improve students' overall well-being by intervening early and providing a foundation for positive behaviors in school. Early intervention and skill development in K-3 preservice teachers can lead to better academic outcomes, enhanced classroom dynamics, and a brighter future for students with challenging behavior. The authors share recommendations for classroom activities, learning materials, and applications for teacher educators.

Background: Early childhood development (ECD) practitioners are encouraged to implement play pedagogies and their views of play as a pedagogy in rural settings have not been captured widely. They are the main role players in implementing play pedagogies for learners' learning and development. The commitment to play can be traced through theory and ideology in early childhood programmes internationally and in South Africa. Aim: This study explored the views and beliefs of the practitioners about the use of play pedagogy in rural ECD centres. Setting: Six practitioners from three rural primary schools in Limpopo, South Africa, participated in the study. Methods: Semi-structured interviews, document analysis and nonparticipant observation were used to collect data. Results: The participants found integrating play pedagogies when planning their lessons and assessing children's progress challenging. The results showed that ECD practitioners in rural centres lack the skills and material resources to implement play pedagogies. Conclusion: The study suggests that ECD practitioners in rural areas need professional development opportunities in the implementation of play activities as a teaching pedagogy. Contribution: These findings can be used to assist ECD practitioners in rural areas in implementing play pedagogies. Educators could use low-cost, locally available materials such as natural resources, recycled materials or everyday objects to create play-based activities that could involve indigenous songs and games relevant to the children's cultural and social context. They could collaborate with parents and community members to develop and implement play-based activities, leveraging the knowledge and skills of the local community.

Teachers play a key role in communicating with parents to support student learning. One of the more challenging aspects of this role for teachers is having a difficult conversation with a parent about their child. Difficult conversations, when needed, are best accomplished face-to-face incorporating effective communication skills to promote a positive and productive interaction. This article reviews a number of key practical communication skills that teachers can use when communicating with parents including use of clear vocabulary, active listening, I-messages, questioning strategies, paraphrasing and summarizing, leveled information, as well as attention to nonverbal messages. Strategies to support both planned and unplanned difficult conversations are discussed. Barriers to having difficult conversations between teachers and parents are outlined as well as new directions for research. Effective communication skills are integral for teachers to hold difficult, yet productive, conversations with parents to promote partnerships and to support student success.

The need for competent and qualified trainers is of paramount importance for an effective technical training system that, in turn, helps to produce competent and employable graduates for the country's economy. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of trainers' competence on the employability of polytechnic college graduates in Dire Dawa. The study employed a descriptive-correlational-explanatory research design with a quantitative research method. The sample for quantitative data consisted of 351 randomly selected graduates, trainees, trainers, and administrators. Both descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyse the data. The findings revealed that trainers' competence was positively correlated with graduates' employability. Specifically, predictors such as knowledge-related competence, assessment-related competence, skill-related competence, and managerial competence were found to have significant and positive effects on the employability of polytechnic college graduates in Dire Dawa. Therefore, the study recommends that the Dire Dawa city Labour Skill and Technology Development Bureau and Polytechnic colleges should give greater emphasis on improving trainers' competence, which in turn enhances the employability of graduates.

The architecture of the virtual learning community via metaverse, or VLC via metaverse, to promote digital teacher's competency is related to the application of the concepts of virtual learning community integrated with virtual reality technology to promote the competency of teachers in the digital age. This is also to equip these teachers with comprehensive digital competency in order that they can apply it in the instruction management in a more efficient manner. In addition, this competency is believed to encourage teachers to have a step-by-step thinking process and enable them to use information technology media more practically with more understanding and creativity. The objectives of this study are: (1) to synthesize the conceptual framework of the VLC via metaverse to promote digital teacher's competency, (2) to design the architecture of the VLC via metaverse to promote digital teacher's competency, and (3) to study the results of the design of the architecture of the VLC via metaverse to promote digital teacher's competency. The participants in this research are 7 experts from different institutions, all of whom are specialized in the design and development of instruction systems. The research tools include: (1) the architecture of the VLC via metaverse, and (2) the assessment form on the suitability of the architecture of the VLC via metaverse. The results of this research show that (1) the overall suitability of the design of the architecture of the VLC via metaverse (overall elements) is at the highest level (Mean = 4.71, SD. = 0.57), and (2) the overall suitability of the design of the architecture of the VLC via metaverse is at the highest level (Mean = 4.70, SD. = 0.52).

Pedagogy plays an essential role in the learning process. Ecopedagogy and digital pedagogy are two of its derivatives. This study focuses on the combination of the two pedagogical models, namely Eco-Digital Pedagogy (EDY). It proposes to reveal the effectiveness of the implementation of the EDY model on the readiness of prospective 21st century teachers. This study's population was Geography students at Semarang State University (UNNES) in Indonesia. The data obtained were tested by paired t-test and strengthened by the N-Gain test. The results show that the implementation of the EDY model has proven effective in increasing the ability of prospective teachers, namely in: 1) showing the leadership skills, 2) creating an environment that respects the diversity of students, 3) understanding every content they deliver, 4) facilitating learning to their students, and 5) reflecting on their teaching practices. This positive result indicates that the EDY model can be used to further develop the abilities of prospective teachers to generate better outputs in the learning process.

Teachers must carry out innovation and learning reform to face digital transformation. Teachers must be able to find the right formula for preparing effective learning plans that suit the needs of students to meet the challenges of the 21st century. This research explores how primary teachers' understanding of the design and subsequent use of digital tools in their scientific instruction develops as they participate in digital didactic design (DDD). How elementary teachers might increase their expertise of teaching using digital technology is the topic of the study. The method of this article is the systematic literature review, using literature reviews from various sources, both journals, books, and other supporting sources. The findings show that DDD has the potential to foster profound learning experiences by providing a framework that invites educators and researchers to research, investigate, and evaluate the actual designs that are being used in classrooms, where teachers are actively involved in the design process. A new way of thinking about planning, carrying out, and commenting on teaching and learning is provided by DDD. Our empirical research's findings support the use of educational technology in learning expeditions as an effort to shift away from conventional course-based learning.

The objectives of the study are (1) to examine the draft of learning activity package for developing learning management by experimenting the package with thirty non-formal education teachers in Bangkok and (2) to examine the learning activity package by expert evaluation. The research instruments for the first objective were: (1) the pre-test and post-test for evaluating learning management competency (2) exercises for evaluating learning management competency. The results found that learning achievement of the non-formal education teachers after participating in the activities was significantly higher than before participating in the activities at 0.05 level. They could design local curriculum and write learning activity plan through the specified criteria accounted for 53.33%. The examination on the experimental results of the learning activity package by nine experts; nonformal education administrators, non-formal education/lifelong education experts and learning management experts. The effectiveness checklist forms; validity, appropriateness, feasibility and usefulness were used. The expert results in the package parts were shown that, the highest score of the package was the objective part with the mean of 4.39, followed by the unit content part with the mean of 4.25 and the pre-test part with the mean of 4.17. The lowest score was the learning media and PowerPoint with the mean of 3.97. The results in the package qualification were shown that, the highest score was the package validity with the mean of 4.14, followed by the package usefulness with the mean of 4.12, the package appropriateness with the mean of 4.11 and the package feasibility with the mean of 4.08.

The goal of the study is to analyse the relation between students' digital learning and transversal skills, as well as between students' digital learning and virtues. In the correlative study, 73 teachers of Class 12 of general education institutions participated, filling out a questionnaire in the Google Docs environment. As a result of the theoretical analysis, the criteria for digital learning have been identified - access to digital technologies, cooperation, teachers' digital competence and availability of activities in compliance with cognitive engagement levels. The findings of the correlation analysis show that the availability of activities in compliance with cognitive engagement levels is the most important in the development of transversal skills, while in the inculcation of virtues - cooperation. The access to digital technologies has a statistically significant correlation with both transversal skills and virtues. The teachers' digital competence promotes digital literacy and such virtues as responsibility and wisdom. The recommendations developed as part of the study include compilation and promotion of the positive experiences of digital learning at the state and local government level; continuous monitoring and feedback analysis of purposeful digital learning and educational quality at school and classroom level; the application of digital learning resources based on the offer of activities in compliance with the students' cognitive engagement levels at the personal level.

The pedagogical competency of preschool teachers is critical in shaping the learning path of young learners in today's world. Modern early childhood education, by focusing on the development of crucial skills like teamwork, innovation, and problem-solving, lays the foundation for long-term learning and success. This research delved into the shift in global research outputs over time, spotlighted significant contributors including publications, authors, and countries, and surveyed the prevalent themes discussed. From 1993 to 2023, 1163 out of 2034 papers from the Scopus database were analysed. A quantitative bibliometric approach was utilized, rooted in the 7C-21 framework, using with the PRISMA model to assure a structured and exhaustive review process. The findings indicated a rising emphasis on promoting pedagogical competency in early-grade teaching force, as seen through increased scholarly contributions. Principal contributors, such as journals, authors, and countries, play a pivotal role in encouraging collaboration and the spread of knowledge. The research underscored the necessity for holistic training programs for 21st-century preschool teachers, spotlighting themes like early childhood educator training and the cultivation of pedagogical competence. The study also documented a transition towards practices driven by evidence and cutting-edge methodologies to meet the ever-changing learning requirements of young learners.

Praxis (ethical, self-aware, responsive and accountable action) is necessary because English teaching is ethical professions that demand teachers to constantly make morally complex decisions in their outside-of-class preparation and in-class interactions. This case study investigates how teachers determined the praxis of the TPACK framework in EFL reading instruction. Three exemplary English teachers from three different high schools in Indonesia were recruited as participants in this study. Classroom observation, in-depth interviews and artifact analysis were employed to gather the data on teachers' TPACK praxis and their underlying considerations. The results reveal that the TPACK framework was implemented effectively in reading class as teachers demonstrated their technological, pedagogical and content knowledge. Teachers successfully managed technology-rich learning in the reading classroom supported by the appropriate teaching strategies and the adoption/adaptation of learning content. Some considerations on teachers' TPACK praxis were pinned on understanding the rationality of the actions related to the importance of self-emotional learning, students' diversity and personal development, as well as the practicality of the technology. The finding of the study implies that teachers at more advanced levels present themselves as content creators rather than technology users in technology-infused teaching.

The objectives of the research: The article considers the problem of preparing teachers for activities in the information space, which covers both the virtual space, where electronic communications are provided via various Internet networks, and certain technical devices. Considerable attention is paid to the study of the peculiarities of the psychological readiness of teachers to use information and communication technologies. The complex of research methods is used in the work: Psychological features and problems of the influence of information and communication technologies on the implementation of effective interaction between teachers and students are identified. Theoretical results: Based on the analysis, the essence and structure of psychological readiness of teachers to interact with students in the digital educational environment are revealed, which contains cognitive, motivational and operational components. Empirical results: A set of methods for studying the levels of psychological readiness of teachers to use information technology and interaction with students in the educational environment is grounded and the results of their application in a representative sample of educators are presented. It is noted that the introduction of ICT in the educational environment contributes to improving its quality, as well as improving the organization of educational institutions and their management.

Inclusive education is a globally accepted approach that aims to provide equal opportunities to all learners, regardless of their differences. In the 1990s, the Zanzibar Ministry of Education introduced special education units for children with disabilities attached to some primary schools. However, in 2004, the role of these special units had to change gradually. This study investigates the process of changing the role of the special units, the achievements made by the units in supporting the inclusion of learners with special education needs into regular classrooms, and the challenges they face. The research collected data through documentary review and semi-structured interviews with ten special education teachers working in the special units, ten regular schoolteachers, and a focused group discussion with the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training officers responsible for promoting inclusive education. The study revealed mixed results regarding the role of the special units in promoting inclusive education in Zanzibar. The units were used as preparatory classes before some pupils with disabilities were included in regular classrooms. However, the units lacked inclusive transition into regular classrooms. Furthermore, there was a lack of coordination and collaboration between the teachers of the special units and those from the regular classrooms in implementing inclusive education. The study recommends better utilization of the special units for promoting inclusive education in the research context and similar contexts in Sub-Saharan Africa. The study highlights the need for collaboration between special education teachers and regular classroom teachers to ensure that all learners have equal opportunities to achieve their full potential.

The quality of teachers' teaching performance depends on several factors, and development of their performance should be made according to a sound scientific methodology, so the study aims to assess the teachers' teaching performance quality in Ma'an, Southern Jordan, and identify the extent to which their performance is affected by some variables (Gender, Professional Experience, Teaching Stages, and Training). In order to achieve the study objectives, the descriptive survey method was used, and a measure of teaching performance quality was determined, consisting of three fields (Planning, Implementation, and Assessment) and including (40) items. The scale was used by educational supervisors to assess the quality of teachers' performance in Ma'an, and (347) male and female teachers were assessed. The results showed that teachers' performance was average in general, but their performance of the first three grades was the weakest, while it was also shown that the female teachers' performance was superior to that of male teachers. The performance of specialized teachers in the scientific field was better than the performance of their counterparts in the humanitarian field. The study showed the positive impact of professional experience and training on the quality of teaching performance. The study also demonstrated the importance of the first five years in the teachers' work, therefore, the necessity of focusing on training and qualification at this stage was recommended, as well as training pre-service teachers appropriately.

This study retrospectively examines teaching practice within Israeli teacher education programs. A pilot study investigates the implementation of a novel teacher education program in Israeli academia, with a focus on the freedom it grants to institutions. This program emerged during the COVID-19 crisis when e-learning dominated. The study assesses 45 respondents' perceptions of teaching practice and the academia-school relationship through a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods. On the quantitative front, the study involved the examination of several questionnaires. These included a self-efficacy questionnaire, an attitude survey regarding teaching, an evaluation of professional identity, and an attitude questionnaire centered on practical experiences within schools. In the assessment of self-efficacy, we utilized a modified version of the General Self-Efficacy Scale (GSE). Additionally, the researchers crafted the other questionnaires. The study also encompassed an exploration of student satisfaction levels concerning collaboration during practical experiences, the acquisition of various skills during school-based practice, and the correlation between the teacher training program's different courses and practical work within school settings. The research covered the documentation and formative assessment of the design and alteration processes within teacher education based on the outlined changes. The study evaluated these processes through primary documents from the academic institution, which provided evidence of the change preparation. It also analyzes the goals, learning outcomes, and teaching methods for students specializing in education. The study highlights changes in teaching practice that foster connections between academia and the field, particularly in pedagogy. These changes focus on the intensified school-based experience, paired with e-teaching workshops. Findings reveal that in evaluating teaching practice competence, interpersonal skills and professional identity rank highly among skills gained during field experiences. The research also showcases the acquisition of essential teaching and class management skills. The study raises questions regarding the program's impact on institutions, particularly concerning its role in enhancing autonomy and relevance. The study evaluates the program's potential as a catalyst for effective teacher education and its ability to attract mission-driven, motivated individuals to the teaching profession.

Nowadays, it is not common to come across sectors that can work and succeed without using information technology (IT). IT has now become a part of organizations' management and strategic decision-making mechanisms. Therefore, organizations make serious investments to develop software and system infrastructures and transfer business processes to digital environments such as cloud technologies. So, they gain opportunities of spreading their business activities to wide stakeholders and customers and being business resilient. Here it is essential to provide assurance that an organization evaluates, develops, implements, maintains, disposes of its IT systems and manages life cycle of all information and information technology systems properly on all physical and logical environments. However, the most important matter is that an organization's objectives are met by the management practices of its information systems. While organizations carry out their digital transformation at a dizzying speed, organizations should be protected from material and moral damages such as loss of money, loss of commercial confidential information, loss of reputation by protecting the confidentiality, integrity and accessibility of the information assets they own and also comply with legal legislations such as the protection of personal data and intellectual property rights. In order to achieve this, organizations benefit from one or more frameworks, standards or directives that are suitable for their own structures and needs, separately or by integrating them. However, the most important point in this transformation process is the transition of organizations from IT management understanding to IT governance. In other words, IT has now become a part of the strategic decision-making mechanism by rising from the level of support tool to carry out business processes in organizations. When we search the academic literature, frameworks and standards, it is seen that the key elements of IT governance are structures, processes and relational mechanisms. If these three components are set up correctly and fit the organization, it can be assured that IT aligns with and supports the objectives of the organizations and that effective IT governance is achieved in every kind of organizations. In this research, databases such as Web of Science, IEEE, and SCOPUS are scanned and found articles are reviewed in order to make a literature review on IT Governance Mechanisms and Frameworks. Results are evaluated and discussed. By the way, suggestions for further studies were made and advanced researches were shed light on.

This research is a type of descriptive research with a quantitative approach, with sampling using cluster sampling technique. The purpose of this research is to see the ability of prospective physics teachers in preparing TPACK-based learning tools. The results obtained on the ability of Content Knowledge (CK) were at a score of 52.66 in the sufficient category, the ability of Pedagogical Knowledge (PK) was at a score of 56 in the sufficient category, the ability of Technological Knowledge (TK) with a score of 83 in the excellent category, Technological Content Knowledge (TCK) with a score of 84 in the excellent category, Technological Pedagogical Knowledge (TPK) with a score of 85 in the excellent category, Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK) with a category of 83.33 and Technological Pedagogical and Content Knowledge (TPACK) with a score of 80 in the excellent category.

The 2013 Curriculum emphasizes the importance of incorporating ICT to improve learning effectiveness. One framework that is useful in this context is TPACK, which stands for Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge. This research aims to examine the ability of geography teachers to utilize TPACK and to support teachers in implementing technology-based learning models with the guidance of 21st-century education. One specific type of online learning platform that can be used in this context is MOOC or Massive Open Online Course. The research employed a development research methodology and used the ADDIE model. The sample for need analysis consisted of 30 geography teachers from SMA/MA schools in West Sumatra, with the experiment school being SMA Negeri 1 Pariaman and SMA Negeri 1 Bukittingi. The results of the research indicate that the development of a TPACK-based MOOC learning model for SMA/MA Geography teachers in West Sumatra is both feasible and appropriate. This model effectively helped teachers to integrate the three main aspects of learning, namely content, pedagogy, and technology. The results of the geography teacher TPACK mapping show that the teachers are in the medium category. The implementation of the TPACK-based MOOC learning model also showed an increase in learning outcomes, with an N-gain score of 0.71 at SMA Negeri 1 Pariaman and 0.62 at SMA Negeri 1 Bukittinggi. The teachers and students involved in the study reported that the use of TPACK and MOOC learning facilitated asynchronous learning and virtual learning.

It is characteristic that besides other duties teacher competence management and development is becoming a part of school responsibilities. Still, school leaders lack the experience and instruments to accomplish these duties. From a teacher's perspective competence management and development can be seen as the process of identification and implementation of professional development (PD). An effective competence management approach that is widely used in business environments is the identification of required and actual competence profiles to judge which development is needed. Such a competence management approach isn't characteristic of school environments, still a promising perspective on how to solve challenges regarding teacher PD (TPD). TPD interventions are often criticized as being too general ("one size fits all" dominates); therefore, the search for practices on how to "tailor" PD initiatives to individual teacher needs is topical for TPD research. An effective way to personalize TPD could be the determination of TPD profiles and the design of the PD around these profiles. Person-centered approaches dominate in the identification of science teacher profiles, as surveys and tests are commonly used. Examples, of how the identification of science teacher profiles can be done using lesson observation data are missing. Science teaching is a complex process; to limit the complexity of this study, the authors focus on teaching that promotes student conceptual understanding (CU). A mixed method study was designed and conducted in a sample of 26 science teachers, who represented urban municipalities' science teacher population. The study included science teacher lesson observation and analysis, and determination of science teacher performance regarded teaching that promotes student CU. Science teacher performance data were used to identify teachers with similar performance across the selected criteria and to create science teacher profiles. A methodology for how lesson observation data can be used to identify teacher profiles in small teacher samples is described. Six various science teacher profiles in teaching that promote student understanding were identified, characterizing the variety of science TPD needs.

It is indicated that research on professional development programmes (PDPs) for mathematics teachers mostly concerns whether a programme affects the teachers' practice or student learning, while the teachers' learning is treated as a "black box." Calls have been made for a shared body of knowledge on teachers' professional learning and what supports such learning. In this article, 84 articles from mathematics education journals are examined with respect to facilities and catalysts for teacher learning from PDPs for mathematics teachers. Two main types of PDPs were identified--those that target "teacher knowledge growth" and those that target "changed instruction"--and it was determined that the types of facilities for catalysing learning linked to them differ. Typical of PDPs targeting "teacher knowledge growth" is that they emphasise "knowledge of content and teaching, knowledge of content and students" and "specialised content knowledge"; following "insight" and/or "body of knowledge" as facilities for catalysing the learning. Typical of PDPs targeting "changed instruction" is that they use more time and have a larger time span than PDPs targeting teacher knowledge growth, emphasise "knowledge of content and teaching"; and follow "strategies" by "doing/experimenting" when establishing them in the classroom as facilities for catalysing the learning.

The benefits of service-learning have been well documented in the literature in terms of student outcomes (i.e., increasing retention rates). The purpose of this article was to gather the experiences of faculty who participated in the Service-Learning Faculty Scholars program, a faculty development program designed to infuse service-learning into their courses and across campus at a midsized university in the Midwest. Faculty participated in a faculty cohort model. Listening sessions were held to gather faculty input, and a total of seven faculty participated. Participants were asked a series of open-ended questions. After a thematic analysis of the data, several themes emerged: service-learning competency/development, challenges, cohort effect, scholar experience, program-level support/resources and training, student experiences, community partner relationships, and faculty reflections on course design. Limitations and future research are discussed.

Background: Preschool teachers play a key role in early scientific education, and their understanding and ability to communicate scientific concepts are crucial. Researchers have extensively studied their grasp of basic scientific concepts, but their understanding of important concepts related to buoyancy, such as floating and sinking, remains relatively underexplored at this level. Aim: This study sought to investigate Grade R teachers' understanding of buoyancy principles by focusing on the concepts of floating and sinking. Setting: The study was conducted in Maseru, Lesotho with four Grade R teachers in their schools. Methods: This study employed a qualitative research approach characterised by a case-study design within an interpretive paradigm. Thematic data analysis was used, drawing from semi-structured interviews with four purposefully selected Grade R teachers. Results: The study found that Grade R teachers have a partial grasp of floating and sinking concepts. While they can describe these principles at a basic level, their ability to explain the reasons behind objects floating or sinking is limited. Conclusion: The incomplete understanding of the floating and sinking concepts among Grade R teachers could negatively impact students' knowledge of science. Therefore, it is advisable to implement an in-service science content-focused programme to empower and equip teachers with the necessary knowledge and skills. Contribution: This study contributes to the limited literature on understanding basic scientific concepts such as floating and sinking in early childhood education. Neglecting these concepts may impede students' learning if not properly addressed.

This research aimed to: 1) investigate the components and performance indicators for organizing experiential activities that foster life skills among early childhood students, particularly those taught by teachers under the Office of the Basic Education Commission of Thailand; 2) examine the current state, desired state, and the needs of supervision models for teachers to develop experiential competency that promotes life skills in early childhood students; and 3) enhance the supervision models for developing experiential competency, specifically focusing on promoting life skills among early childhood students taught by teachers under the Office of the Basic Education Commission of Thailand. The research is divided into 3 phrases. Phase 1: examine the components and indicators, targeting a qualified group of 9 experts selected through purposive sampling. This selection is based on the appropriateness assessment using the components and indicators evaluation form. Phase 2: investigate the needs of the supervision models. The sample group comprises 320 early childhood teachers, selected through multi-stage random sampling using a questionnaire with a 5-level Likert scale. Phase 3: developing the supervision models. Nine qualified experts selected through purposive sampling examined the appropriateness of the supervision models. The data were collected through questionnaires, interviews, assessments, and observations. Average, standard deviation and Priority Needs Index (PNImodified) were used to analyze the data. The findings of the study revealed the following: (1) The components and indicators of life skills serve as standards for teachers in organizing experiences that promote life skills for early childhood students. There are 5 components and 23 indicators, categorized as follows: 1) Decision-making with 5 indicators, 2) Problem-solving with 5 indicators, 3) Analytical thinking with 4 indicators, 4) Empathy with 4 indicators, and 5) Communication with 5 indicators. Overall, the proficiency level is rated as the highest. (2) The current state is rated as the highest, and the desired state is also at a high level. When assessing the needs of the supervision models, it is found that the component with the highest need is Component 3--Analytical Thinking. This is followed by Component 2--Problem-Solving, Component 4--Empathy, Component 1--Decision Making, and Component 5--Communication, with the lowest index of essential needs respectively. (3) The results of enhancing the supervision models for teachers to develop experiential competency that promotes life skills in early childhood students reveal that the supervision models encompasses five formats: 1) Preparation: Planning and development, 2) Strengthen Relationships and Increase Knowledge: Building relationships and expanding knowledge, 3) Knowledge into Practice: Applying knowledge into practice, 4) Reflection: Reflecting on outcomes for understanding, and 5) Evaluation: Quality measurement and assessment. These formats are deemed highly suitable, appropriate, and effective.

The impact of digitalisation on everyday life has necessitated the need for learners to acquire digital competence as part of their education. In order to prepare students to become digital citizens, it has become necessary for teachers to acquire and implement digital competence in the classroom. This study applied the DigCompEdu framework to Lebanese schools and teachers to examine the digital competences of teachers and their alignment with Ministry of Education & Higher Education (MEHE) standards. This study followed a cross-sectional descriptive design and involved 170 in-service teachers in Lebanese schools. This study found that whilst schoolteachers' practice meets all MEHE indicators, there is a significant need for training to schoolteachers in using digital tools and resources to promote collaboration in the learning process. The findings highlighted the importance of digital competences in schools and the need for ongoing training and support for teachers in this area.

The teaching competencies of science teachers significantly influence students' science academic achievement. It shapes the students' understanding of complex science concepts and their ability to excel in scientific exploration, ultimately nurturing their scientific literacy. This study assessed the teaching competencies influencing the teaching performance of 58 primary science teachers relative to the academic achievement of their students in science at the Tinoc District, Tinoc, Ifugao, Philippines. The significant differences by teacher demographics were also determined. This is relevant to the district's observed low scientific literacy and achievement of students in science education as assessed in recent years. Using a quantitative approach, the study employed a modified questionnaire that was validated and pilot-tested. Results disclosed that the science teachers strongly agreed that professionalism is the most common teaching competence influencing their performance, indicating their adherence to local and national standards and code of conduct. They also strongly agreed with teaching effectiveness, personal skills, educational planning, and management skills. Generally, there were no significant differences among the teaching competencies regardless of the teachers' gender, age, highest educational attainment, and years in service. Meanwhile, the students' science academic achievement was determined to be lower average, suggesting low scientific literacy. Correspondingly, the teaching competencies and students' academic achievement were not correlated. Nonetheless, the teacher's capacity to impact the learners' scientific exploration and achievement remains intact. Further studies are recommended to be undertaken.
