Assessing the socio-economic and demographic impact of the reforms in Romanian agriculture, since 1990, on rural families, is one of the important components in the new context of the CAP, which includes new perspectives on the concept of rural family. From subsistence to sustainability, it implies the medium and long term objective of the main reforms in Romania's agriculture after the December 1989 Revolution, which were mainly represented by the start of the process of transition to market economy, by benefiting from the advantages of land rent and maybe the most important reform is Romania's accession to the EU. This paper aims to conduct an analysis of the evolution of the Romanian rural area in its many facets, focusing on the main reforms in post-December Romania agriculture, as well as the concepts of rural development in terms of sustainability and multifunctionality. In the context of a Romania that, since the accession of the EU, being considered perhaps the most important reform is the reform of agriculture, which is in the process of implementing the European model of agriculture and rural development. In order to demonstrate how the rural areas have been changed across the years, an empirical study has been assessed. It shows that there is a representative relationship between the farmers' productivity and incomes, proving how the economic prosperity of the rural citizens is determined by labour effectualness, while multiple reforms have been reshaped families' welfare.

Food security is a topic of a large interest, the new approach shifting towards nutrition security, from people access to sufficient towards safe and nutritious food, emphasizing the structure of the diet and the importance of the nutrients in assuring a healthy life. But malnutrition problems affect people worldwide, in different forms, both undernourishment and overweight and obesity, mostly in countries where agricultural resources, as one of the main sources of food, are scarce. Such a country is United Arab Emirate, where people have access to sufficient food, but based on imports, signalizing a low level of food self-sufficiency. Furthermore, the alarming rate of obesity of 30% raises questions about the structure of the diet and nutrition security. The aim of the study is to determine the level of food security in the United Arab Emirates and identify the factors behind it. Statistical data referring to food and nutrition security in United Arab Emirate have been analysed and predictions have been made using machine learning algorithms. The results are relevant for underpinning food policy at macroeconomic level, helping decision makers in finding solutions for improving nutrition security and food self-sufficiency. The trend for a healthy life obtained as a result of a balanced diet is found in the list of main trends that will affect consumer behaviour and their choices about consumption. Information and the increase in purchasing power especially among millennials allows a significant increase in demand for organic products, obtained as a result of sustainable production processes. The primary aim of the present research is to investigate the consumption and consumer behaviour of organic agri-food products based on literature review and reports analysis. The main findings show that consumers are much more flexible, willing to make purchases on different platforms, and merchants must respond to this trend through investments to ensure their online presence. The expectations of the modern consumer involve establishing a postpurchase connection with the organic agri-food manufacturer. Purchasing local agrifood products is gaining ground, as it supports local entrepreneurship, assimilates the principles of environmental protection, avoiding as much as possible imported products, that involve transport and default pollution. There is a significant increase in the interest that both large companies and niche entrepreneurs show about the environment. In this sense, agri-food producers develop authentic environmental strategies, thus creating profitable business models from innovative green businesses. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Food waste and the circular economy are two major topics that the Earth’s population should be concerned about. The circular economy has been discussed on a regular basis as a mechanism of better waste management through recycling, reuse, and recovery. As a result, this paper’s aim is to reveal a comprehensive look at alternate solution implementations over the whole life cycle of any process, as well as the relationship between processes, environment, and economy. The research question is whether the circular economy is related to food waste, starting from the assumption that food waste can be prevented by applying the principles of circular economy. The findings show that the EU 28 contributes significantly to the global 1.3 billion tonnes of wasted food each year, while the cost of covering the 180 kg/capita of food wasted each year in the EU 28 raises up to 25% of the food products acquired, evidencing a massive monetization and a possible material overturn if this issue of reducing food waste is not properly managed. The relevance of the results consists in the fact that circular economy inspires new patterns and behaviors to consumers, assisting them in achieving greater sustainability. As a result, disposed food is no longer considered as a waste or energy recovery problem, but rather as an opportunity to enhance the overall system. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Globally, the situation of the natural resources in terms of continuous and imminent population growth is very concerning. Ensuring food security and food security is increasingly difficult to achieve, and in areas that are becoming more and more extensive. This article presents a general overview of the main aggregate food security measurement indicators according to the classifications established by the most important agri-food institutions. The first section briefly examines food security and food independence on three main areas: food self-sufficiency; food security and environmental sustainability; and the agri-food system. The second section focuses on the aggregate indicators for measuring food security according to Food and Agriculture Organization, International Institute for Food Policy Research, the World Bank or EUROSTAT. The paper also evaluates the current situation of the main indicators and provides examples of actions that helped nations to achieve food selfsufficiency. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Fair trade is a growing topic among researchers, which has grown in recent decades. This paper aims to identify the importance of fair trade as a topic of scientific research. To achieve this goal, a bibliometric analysis was performed, consisting of a quantitative analysis of statistical data through which the research results are disseminated and public performances are presented. Through this analysis it is possible to perform multiple analyzes including the identification of scientific publications in a particular field and citations of authors or articles. With the help of the VosView program, there has been a strong link between fair trade and food security, consumption, standards, quality, certification, etc. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
Increased awareness about the importance of a safe food together with human concerns about health have changed people approaches to food they consume and increased the demand for high quality food. Certification is a tools signalizing to consumers that food is safe and has high quality. A growing number of producers make more effort in certifying products they put on the market. In this respect, the goal of this paper is to highlight the importance of food certification, assessing its linkages to other terms. A literature review and a bibliometric analysis were undertaken in order to highlight the importance of food certification. The results show that food certification is a growing global concern because of its role in assuring food safety and, moreover, because of its positive impact on public health, international trade, farmers’ income and ensuring overall food security. The relevance of the research lies in its capacity to enrich literature on food certification and rising awareness about its impact on consumers, producers, government and communities.
