Abstract: We report an improved measurement of D0–D‾0 mixing and a search for CP violation in D0 decays to CP-even final states K+K− and π+π−. The measurement is based on the final Belle data sample of 976 fb−1. The results are yCP=(1.11±0.22±0.09)% and AΓ=(−0.03±0.20±0.07)%, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic.

Abstract: The high design luminosity of the SuperKEKB electron-positron collider will result in challenging levels of beam-induced backgro\ unds in the interaction region. Understanding and mitigating these backgrounds is critical to the success of the Belle~II experi\ ment. We report on the first background measurements performed after roll-in of the Belle II detector, a period known as SuperKE\ KB Phase 2, utilizing both the BEAST II system of dedicated background detectors and the Belle II detector itself. We also repor\ t on first revisions to the background simulation made in response to our findings. Backgrounds measured include contributions f\ rom synchrotron radiation, beam-gas, Touschek, and injection backgrounds. At the end of Phase 2, single-beam backgrounds origina\ ting from the 4 GeV positron Low Energy Ring (LER) agree reasonably well with simulation, while backgrounds from the 7 GeV elect\ ron High Energy Ring (HER) are approximately one order of magnitude higher than simulation. We extrapolate these backgrounds for\ ward and conclude it is safe to install the Belle II vertex detector., Comment: 22 Pages, 33 figures

Abstract: Using 4.8 fb$^{-1}$ of data taken with the CLEO II detector, the branching fraction for the Cabibbo-suppressed decay $D^+\to\pi^0\ell^+\nu$ measured relative to the Cabibbo favored decay $D^+\to\bar{K^0}\ell^+\nu$ is found to be $0.046\pm 0.014\pm 0.017$. Using $V_{cs}$ and $V_{cd}$ from unitarity constraints, we determine $| f_+^{\pi}(0)/f_+^K(0)|^2=0.9\pm 0.3\pm 0.3$ We also present a 90% confidence level upper limit for the branching ratio of the decay $D^+ \to \eta e^+\nu_e$ relative to that for $D^+ \to \pi^0 e^+\nu_e$ of 1.5.

Abstract: We report a precise measurement of the masses of the $\Xi_c(2645)$ and $\Xi_c(2815)$ baryons using a data sample of 414 fb$^{-1}$ collected by the Belle collaboration at the KEKB $e^+ e^-$ collider. The states $\Xi_c(2645)^{0,+}$ are observed in the $\Xi_c^{+,0}\pi^{-,+}$ decay modes, while the $\Xi_c(2815)^{0,+}$ are reconstructed in the $\Xi_c(2645)^{+,0}\pi^{-,+}$ decay modes. The following mass splittings are determined: $m_{\Xi_c(2645)^+} - m_{\Xi_c(2645)^0} = (-0.1 \pm 0.3 ({\rm stat}) \pm 0.6 {(\rm syst})) {\rm MeV}/{\rm c}^2$ and $m_{\Xi_c(2815)^+} - m_{\Xi_c(2815)^0} = (-3.4 \pm 1.9 ({\rm stat}) \pm 0.9 {(\rm syst})) {\rm MeV}/{\rm c}^2$ with a much better precision than the current world averages. We also observe a new decay mode, $\Xi_c(2980)^{0,+} \to \Xi_c(2645)^{+,0}\pi^{-,+}$.

Abstract: We report a high-statistics measurement of the relative branching fraction Br(D0 --> pi+pi-pi0)/Br(D0 --> K-pi+pi0). A 357 inverse fb data sample collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e- collider was used for the analysis. The relative branching fraction Br(D0 --> pi+pi-pi0)/Br(D0 --> K-pi+pi0) is determined with an accuracy comparable to the latest world average value.

Abstract: KS 0 KS 0 production in two-photon collisions has been studied using a 397.6 fb-1 data sample collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB e+ e- collider. For the first time the cross sections are measured in the two-photon center-of-mass energy range between 2.4 GeV and 4.0 GeV and angular range | cos θ* | < 0.6. Combining the results with measurements of γ γ → K+ K- from Belle, we observe that the cross section ratio σ (KS 0 KS 0) / σ (K+ K-) decreases from ∼0.13 to ∼0.01 with increasing energy. Signals for the χc 0 and χc 2 charmonium states are also observed. © 2007 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Abstract: We report measurements of the charmless semileptonic decays B0 → π- / ρ- l+ ν and B+ → π0 / ρ0 l+ ν, based on a sample of 2.75 × 108B over(B, ) events collected at the Υ{hooked} (4 S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB e+ e- asymmetric collider. In this analysis, the accompanying B meson is reconstructed in the semileptonic mode B → D(*) l ν, enabling detection of the signal modes with high purity. We measure the branching fractions B (B0 → π- l+ ν) = (1.38 ± 0.19 ± 0.14 ± 0.03) × 10-4, B (B0 → ρ- l+ ν) = (2.17 ± 0.54 ± 0.31 ± 0.08) × 10-4, B (B+ → π0 l+ ν) = (0.77 ± 0.14 ± 0.08 ± 0.00) × 10-4 and B (B+ → ρ0 l+ ν) = (1.33 ± 0.23 ± 0.17 ± 0.05) × 10-4, where the errors are statistical, experimental systematic, and systematic due to form factor uncertainties, respectively. For each mode we also present the partial branching fractions in three q2 intervals: q2 < 8, 8 ≤ q2 < 16, and q2 ≥ 16 GeV2 / c2. From our partial branching fractions for B → π l ν and recent results for the form factor from unquenched Lattice QCD calculations, we obtain values of the CKM matrix element | Vu b |. © 2007 Elsevier B.V. Abstract: We have searched for lepton-flavor-violating $\tau$ decays with a pseudoscalar meson ($\eta$, $\eta'$ {and} $\pi^0$) using a data sample of 401 fb$^{-1}$ collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+e^-$ collider. No evidence for these decays is found and we set the following upper limits on the branching fractions: ${\cal{B}}(\tau^-\to e^-\eta) < 9.2\times 10^{-8}$, ${\cal{B}}(\tau^-\to \mu^-\eta) < 6.5\times 10^{-8}$, ${\cal{B}}(\tau^-\to e^-\eta') < 1.6\times 10^{-7}$, ${\cal{B}}(\tau^-\to \mu^-\eta') < 1.3\times 10^{-7}$, ${\cal{B}}(\tau^-\to e^-\pi^0) < 8.0\times 10^{-8}$ and ${\cal{B}}(\tau^-\to \mu^-\pi^0) < 1.2\times 10^{-7}$ at the 90% confidence level. These results improve our previously published upper limits by factors from 2.3 to 6.3.

Abstract: We have searched for neutrinoless τ lepton decays into lhh or l V0, where l stands for an electron or muon, h for a charged light hadron, π or K, and V0 for a neutral vector meson, ρ0, K* (892)0 and φ{symbol}, using a 158 fb-1 data sample collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB e+ e- collider. Since the number of events observed are consistent with the expected background, we set upper limits on the branching fractions in the range of (1.6 - 8.0) × 10-7 for various decay modes at the 90% confidence level. © 2006 Elsevier B.V. Abstract: We have searched for the lepton flavor violating decays τ- → l- KS 0 (l = e or μ), using a data sample of 281 fb-1 collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB e+ e- asymmetric-energy collider. No evidence for a signal was found in either of the decay modes, and we set the following upper limits for the branching fractions: B (τ- → e- KS 0) < 5.6 × 10-8 and B (τ- → μ- KS 0) < 4.9 × 10-8 at the 90% confidence level. These results improve the previously published limits set by the CLEO Collaboration by factors of 16 and 19, respectively. © 2006 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Abstract: We have measured the branching fractions for the exclusive decay modes B→χc1(2)K(K∗)B→χc1(2)K(K∗) using a 140 fb−1140 fb−1 data sample collected by the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e−e+e− collider. The measured branching fractions for B+→χc1K+B+→χc1K+, B0→χc1K0B0→χc1K0, B0→χc1K∗0B0→χc1K∗0 and B+→χc1K∗+B+→χc1K∗+ decay modes are (4.5±0.2±0.5)×10−4(4.5±0.2±0.5)×10−4, (3.5±0.3±0.5)×10−4(3.5±0.3±0.5)×10−4, (3.1±0.3±0.7)×10−4(3.1±0.3±0.7)×10−4 and (4.1±0.6±0.9)×10−4(4.1±0.6±0.9)×10−4, respectively, where the first error is statistical and the second error is systematic. We do not observe statistically significant signals for the B→χc2K(K∗)B→χc2K(K∗) decay modes and set upper limits at the 90% confidence level. We also study the helicity distribution for B→χc1K∗B→χc1K∗ decay mode and show that the longitudinal polarization component is dominant.

Abstract: Using kaon secondary interactions in the material of the Belle detector, we search for both inclusive and exclusive production of the Θ(1540) +. We set an upper limit of 2.5% at the 90% C.L. on the ratio of the Θ(1540)+ to Λ(1520) inclusive production cross sections. Abstract: We have searched for τ lepton decays, τ-→Λπ- and τ-→Λπ-, that simultaneously violate the conservation of the lepton (L) and baryon (B) number using a data sample of 154 fb-1 collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB e+e- asymmetric-energy collider. No evidence for a signal was found in either of the decay modes and we set the following upper limits for the branching fractions: B(τ-→Λπ-)

Abstract: We present measurements of the branching fraction, the polarization parameters and CP-violating asymmetries in B0→D*+D *- decays using a 140 fb-1 data sample collected at the Υ(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB energy-asymmetric e+e- collider. We obtain B(B0→D*+D*-)=[0. 81±0.08(stat)±0.11(syst)]×10-3, R⊥=0.19±0. 08(stat)±0.01(syst), R0=0.57±0.08(stat)±0.02(syst), S=-0.75±0.56(stat)±0.12(syst) and A=-0.26±0.26(stat) ±0.06(syst). Consistency with Standard Model expectations is also discussed.

Abstract: We report the observation of B0 decays to the K+π-π0 final state using a data sample of 78 fb-1 collected by the Belle detector at the KEKB e+e- collider. With no assumptions about intermediate states in the decay, the branching fraction is measured to be (36.6-4.3+4.2±3.0)×10-6. We also search for B decays to intermediate two-body states with the same K+π-π0 final state. Significant B signals are observed in the ρ(770)-K+ and K*(892)+π- channels, with branching fractions of (15.1-3.3-1.5-2.1+3.4+1.4+2.0)×10-6 and (14.8-4.4-1.0-0.9+4.6+1.5+2.4) ×10-6, respectively. The first error is statistical, the second is systematic and the third is due to the largest possible interference. Contributions from other possible two-body states will be discussed. No CP asymmetry is found in the inclusive K+π-π0 or ρ-K+ modes, and we set 90% confidence level bounds on the asymmetry of -0.12

Abstract: We have searched for neutrinoless τ lepton decays into three charged leptons using an 87.1fb-1 data sample collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB e+e- collider. Since the number of signal candidate events is compatible with that expected from the background, we set 90% confidence level upper limits on the branching fractions in the range (1.9-3.5)×10-7 for various decay modes τ -→l-l+l- where l represents e or μ. © 2004 Published by Elsevier B.V.

Abstract: We have searched for a T/CP violation signature arising from an electric dipole form factor (d_tau) of the tau lepton in the e+e- -> tau+tau- reaction. Using an optimal observable method for 29.5 fb^{-1} of data collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB collider at sqrt{s}=10.58 GeV, we obtained the preliminary result Re(d_tau) = (1.15 +- 1.70) x 10^{-17} ecm and Im(d_tau) = (-0.83 +- 0.86) x 10^{-17} ecm for the real and imaginary parts of d_tau, respectively, and set the 95% confidence level limits -2.2 < Re(d_tau) < 4.5 (10^{-17} ecm) and -2.5 < Im(d_tau) < 0.8 (10^{-17} ecm)., Invited talk at the Seventh International Workshop on Tau Lepton Physics (TAU02), Santa Cruz, Ca, USA, Sept 2002, 8 pages, LaTeX, 19 eps figures

Abstract: We report on a study of $\bar{B^{0}} \to D^{(*) 0} \pi^+ \pi^-$ decays using 29.1 fb$^{-1}$ of $e^{+}e^{-}$ annihilation data recorded at the $\Upsilon(4S)$ resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB storage ring. Making no assumptions about the intermediate mechanism, the branching fractions for $\bar{B}^0 \to D^0 \pi^+ \pi^-$ and $\bar{B}^0 \to D^{* 0} \pi^+ \pi^-$ are determined to be $(8.0 \pm 0.6 \pm 1.5) \times 10^{-4} $ and $ (6.2 \pm 1.2 \pm 1.8) \times 10^{-4}$ respectively. An analysis of $\bar{B^{0}} \to D^{0} \pi^+ \pi^-$ candidates yields to the first observation of the color-suppressed hadronic decay $\bar{B}^0 \to D^0 \rho^0$ with the branching fraction $(2.9 \pm 1.0 \pm 0.4) \times 10^{-4}$. We measure the ratio of branching fractions ${\mathcal B}(\bar{B^0} \to D^0 \rho^0) / {\mathcal B}(\bar{B^0} \to D^0 \omega)$ = 1.6 $\pm$ 0.8.

Abstract: We present measurements of CP-violating parameters in $B^0(\bar{B}{}^0) \to \eta^\prime K_S^0$ and $B^{\pm} \to \eta' K^{\pm}$ decays based on a 41.8 fb$^{-1}$ data sample collected at the $\Upsilon(4S)$ resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^{+} e^{-}$ collider. We fully reconstruct one neutral $B$ meson as a $B^0(\bar{B}{}^0) \to \eta^\prime K_S^0$ CP eigenstate and identify the flavor of the accompanying $B$ from its decay products. From the distribution of time intervals between pairs of $B$ meson decay points, we obtain the CP-violating asymmetry parameters ${\mathcal S}_{\eta^\prime K_S^0} = 0.28\pm0.55(stat)^{+0.07}_{-0.08}(syst)$, and ${\mathcal A}_{\eta^\prime K_S^0} = 0.13\pm0.32(stat)^{+0.09}_{-0.06}(syst)$. We also reconstruct charged $B^{\pm} \to \eta^\prime K^{\pm}$ decays and determine a direct-CP violating asymmetry value of ${\mathcal A}_{\eta^\prime K^\pm}=(-1.5\pm7.0(stat)\pm0.9(syst))%$.

Abstract: The B -> D^{(*)} K^- K^{(*)0} decays have been observed for the first time. The branching fractions of the B -> D^{(*)} K^- K^{(*)0} decay modes are measured. Significant signals are found for the B -> D^{(*)} K^- K^{*0} and B^- -> D^0 K^- K^0_S decay modes. The invariant mass and polarization distributions for the K^-K^{*0} and K^-K^0_S subsystems have been studied. For the K^-K^{*0} sybsystem these distributions agree well with those expected for two-body B -> D^{(*)} a_1^-(1260) decays, with a_1^-(1260) -> K^- K^{*0}. The analysis was done using 29.4 fb^{-1} of data collected with the Belle detector at the e^+ e^- asymmetric collider KEKB.

Abstract: This paper describes a study of B meson decays to the pseudoscalar-vector final state \rho\pi using 31.9\times 10^6 B\bar{B} events collected with the Belle detector at KEKB. The branching fractions B(B^+ \to \rho^0\pi^+) = (8.0^{+2.3+0.7}_{-2.0-0.7}) \times 10^{-6} and B(B^0 -> \rho^{+-} \pi^{-+}) = (20.8^{+6.0+2.8}_{-6.3-3.1}) \times 10^{-6} are obtained. In addition, a 90% confidence level upper limit of B(B^0 \to \rho^0\pi^0) < 5.3 \times 10^{-6}is reported.

Abstract: We present a measurement of the Cabibbo–Kobayashi–Maskawa (CKM) matrix element |Vcb| using a 10.2 fb−1 data sample recorded at the ϒ(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric e+e− storage ring. By extrapolating the differential decay width of the B 0 →D ∗+ e − ν decay to the kinematic limit at which the D ∗+ is at rest with respect to the B 0 , we extract the product of |Vcb| with the normalization of the decay form factor F(1), |Vcb|F(1)=(3.54±0.19±0.18)×10−2, where the first error is statistical and the second is systematic. A value of |Vcb|=(3.88±0.21±0.20±0.19)×10−2 is obtained using a theoretical calculation of F(1), where the third error is due to the theoretical uncertainty in the value of F(1). The branching fraction B ( B 0 →D ∗+ e − ν ) is measured to be (4.59±0.23±0.40)×10−2.

Abstract: We report measurements for two-body charmless B decays with an eta' meson in the final state. Using 11.1X10^6 BBbar pairs collected with the Belle detector, we find BF(B^+ ->eta'K^+)=(79^+12_-11 +-9)x10^-6 and BF(B^0 -> eta'K^0)=(55^+19_-16 +-8)x10^-6, where the first and second errors are statistical and systematic, respectively. No signal is observed in the mode B^+ -> eta' pi^+, and we set a 90% confidence level upper limit of BF(B^+-> eta'pi^+) eta'K^+- decays is investigated and a limit at 90% confidence level of -0.20

Abstract: We have measured the branching fraction of the inclusive radiative B meson decay B --> X(s) gamma to be Br(B->X(s)gamma)=(3.36 +/- 0.53(stat) +/- 0.42(sys) +0.50-0.54(th)) x 10^{-4}. Abstract: We argue that an experimental search for an $\eta_c'$, the first radial excitation of the $\eta_c(2980)$, may be carried out using the two photon process $e^+e^- \to e^+e^- \gamma \gamma \ra e^+e^-\eta_c'$. We estimate the partial width $\Gamma_{\gamma \gamma}(\eta_c')$ and the branching fraction $B(\eta_c' \to h)$, where $h$ is an exclusive hadronic channel, and find that for $h = K^o_s K^\pm \pi^\mp$ it may be possible to observe this state in two photon collisions at CLEO-II., Comment: 9 pages, LATEX format

Abstract: We have observed two new decay modes of the charmed baryon $\Xi_c^+$ into $\Sigma^+ K^-\pi^+$ and $\Sigma^+ \bar{K}^{*0}$ using data collected with the CLEO II detector. We also present the first measurement of the branching fraction for the previously observed decay mode $\Xi_c^+\to\Lambda K^-\pi^+\pi^+$. The branching fractions for these three modes relative to $\Xi_c^+\to\Xi^-\pi^+\pi^+$ are measured to be $1.18 \pm 0.26 \pm 0.17$, $0.92 \pm 0.27 \pm 0.14$, and $0.58 \pm 0.16 \pm 0.07$, respectively.

Abstract: We have measured the weak decay asymmetry parameters ($\aLC $) for two \LC\ decay modes. Our measurements are $\aLC = -0.94^{+0.21+0.12}_{-0.06-0.06} $ for the decay mode $\Lambda_c^+ \to \Lambda\pi^+ $ and $\aLC = -0.45\pm 0.31 \pm 0.06$ for the decay mode $\Lambda_c \to \Sigma^+\pi^0 $. By combining these measurements with the previously measured decay rates, we have extracted the parity-violating and parity-conserving amplitudes. These amplitudes are used to test models of nonleptonic charmed baryon decay.

Abstract: We have studied the leptonic decay of the $\Upsilon (1S)$ resonance into tau pairs using the CLEO II detector. A clean sample of tau pair events is identified via events containing two charged particles where exactly one of the particles is an identified electron. We find $B(\Upsilon(1S) \to \tau^+ \tau^-) = (2.61~\pm~0.12~{+0.09\atop{-0.13}})%$. The result is consistent with expectations from lepton universality.

Abstract: Double-sided, double-layer silicon microstrip detectors for the CLEO-II vertex detector have been studied. The double-layer structure permits the transverse strips to be connected via longitudinal readout traces to preamplifiers located at the end of the detectors. The detectors are full-size AC coupled detectors with polysilicon bias resistors on the n-side and punch-through biasing on the p-side. The authors present measurements of detector static properties, including the extra capacitance due to the double-layer structure, as well as measurements of signal and noise. >

Abstract: CAMEX64 preamplifiers, developed for use in the readout of silicon strip detectors, have been exposed to well-measured doses of monochromatic gamma -rays from the Cornell High Energy Synchrotron Source (CHESS), and measurements of the resulting radiation damage have been made. Silicon strip detectors with their associated CAMEXes will be installed close to the interaction region in the CLEO experiment at Cornell University, where they will be exposed to both charged particle and photon fluences. Powered and unpowered CAMEXes were irradiated and after each exposure measurements of pedestals, gains, and coherent and incoherent noise were made until the devices could no longer be read out. Results are presented for noise and gain degradation as a function of dose. Using well-controlled and calibrated 20 keV synchrotron radiation, failure begins at 20 krad in powered CAMEXes and between 60 and 120 krad in unpowered CAMEXes. These failure levels are considerably larger than the projected radiation dose. >

Abstract: The branching fractions and the decay amplitudes of B -> J/psi K^* decays are measured in a 29.4/fb data sample collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB electron-positron collider. The decay amplitudes of helicity states of the J/psi K^* system are determined from the full angular distribution of the final state particles in the transversity basis. The branching fractions are measured to be (1.29\pm0.05\pm0.13) \times 10^{-3} for neutral mesons and (1.28\pm0.07\pm0.14) \times 10^{-3} for charged mesons. The measured longitudinal and transverse (perpendicular to the transversity plane) amplitudes are |A_0|^2 = 0.62\pm0.02\pm0.03 and |A_{\perp}|^2 = 0.19\pm0.02\pm0.03, respectively. The value of |A_{\perp}|^2 shows that the CP even component dominates in the B^0 \to J/\psi K^{*0}(K_S\pi^0) decay., Comment: 17 pages, 3 figures, 5 tables, to appear in Phys. Lett. B

Abstract: The oscillation frequency of B0-B0bar mixing (Delta-m_d) has been measured using 29.1 fb^{-1} of datacollected with the Belle detector at KEKB. This measurement is made through the distributions of the proper decay time difference of B pairs in events tagged as same- and opposite-flavor decays. In each event, one $B$ is fully reconstructed in a flavor-specific hadronic decay mode, while the flavor of the other is extracted through a likelihood calculated from the b-flavor information carried in its final decay products. Abstract: We present measurements of the Cabibbo-suppressed decays Lambda_c^+ --> Lambda0 K+ and Lambda_c^+ --> Sigma0 K+ (both first observations), Lambda_c^+ --> Sigma+ K+ pi- (seen with large statistics for the first time), Lambda_c^+ --> p K+ K- and Lambda_c^+ --> p phi (measured with improved accuracy). Improved branching ratio measurements for the decays Lambda_c^+ --> Sigma+ K+ K- and Lambda_c^+ --> Sigma+ phi, which are attributed to W-exchange diagrams, are shown. We also present the first evidence for Lambda_c^+ --> Xi(1690)^0 K+ and set an upper limit on the non-resonant decay Lambda_c^+ --> Sigma+ K+ K-. This analysis was performed using 32.6 fb^{-1} of data collected by the Belle detector at the asymmetric e+ e- collider KEKB., Submitted to Phys. Lett. Abstract: We have made a first measurement of the lepton momentum spectrum in a sample of events enriched in neutral B's through a partial reconstruction of B0 --> D*- l+ nu. This spectrum, measured with 2.38 fb**-1 of data collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance by the CLEO II detector, is compared directly to the inclusive lepton spectrum from all Upsilon(4S) events in the same data set. These two spectra are consistent with having the same shape above 1.5 GeV/c. From the two spectra and two other CLEO measurements, we obtain the B0 and B+ semileptonic branching fractions, b0 and b+, their ratio, and the production ratio f+-/f00 of B+ and B0 pairs at the Upsilon(4S). We report b+/b0=0.950 (+0.117-0.080) +- 0.091, b0 = (10.78 +- 0.60 +- 0.69)%, and b+ = (10.25 +- 0.57 +- 0.65)%. b+/b0 is equivalent to the ratio of charged to neutral B lifetimes, tau+/tau0., 14 page, postscript file also available at http://w4.lns.cornell.edu/public/CLNS
