Abstract: We report results of searches for charmless hadronic B meson decays to pseudoscalar(pi^+-,K^+-,Pi^0 or Ks^0)-vector(Rho, K* or Omega) final states. Using 9.7 million BBbar pairs collected with the CLEO detector, we report first observation of B^- --> Pi^-Rho^0, B^0 --> Pi^+-Rho^-+ and B^- --> Pi^-Omega, which are expected to be dominated by hadronic b --> u transitions. The measured branching fractions are (10.4+3.3-3.4+-2.1)x10^-6, (27.6+8.4-7.4+-4.2)x10^-6 and (11.3+3.3-2.9+-1.4)x10^-6, respectively. Abstract: We have measured the first and second moments of the hadronic mass-squared distribution in B -> X_c l nu, for P(lepton) > 1.5 GeV/c. We find = 0.251 +- 0.066 GeV^2, < (M_X^2 -)^2 > = 0.576 +- 0.170 GeV^4, where M_D[Bar] is the spin-averaged D meson mass. From that first moment and the first moment of the photon energy spectrum in b -> s gamma, we find the HQET parameter lambda_1 (MS[Bar], to order 1/M^3 and beta_0 alpha_s^2) to be -0.24 +- 0.11 GeV^2. Using these first moments and the B semileptonic width, and assuming parton-hadron duality, we obtain |V_cb| = 0.0404 +- 0.0013., Comment: 11 pages postscript, also available through http://w4.lns.cornell.edu/public/CLNS, submitted to PRL

Abstract: Using 13.4 $fb^{-1}$ of data collected with the CLEO detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring, we have observed 300 events for the two-photon production of ground-state pseudo-scalar charmonium in the decay $\eta_c$ -> $K_S K^{\mp} \pi^{\pm}$. We have measured the $\eta_c$ mass to be (2980.4 +- 2.3 (stat) +- 0.6 (sys)) MeV and its full width as (27.0 +- 5.8 (stat) +- 1.4 (sys)) MeV. We have determined the two-photon partial width of the $\eta_c$ meson to be (7.6 +- 0.8 (stat) +- 0.4 (sys) +- 2.3 (br)) keV, with the last uncertainty associated with the decay branching fraction.

Abstract: The CLEO group at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring has constructed and commissioned a new central drift chamber. With 9796 cells arranged in 47 layers ranging in radius from 13.2 to 79 cm , the new drift chamber has a smaller outer radius and fewer wires than the drift chamber it replaces, but allows the CLEO tracking system to have improved momentum resolution. Reduced scattering material in the chamber gas and in the inner skin separating the drift chamber from the silicon vertex detector provides a reduction of the multiple scattering component of the momentum resolution and an extension of the usable measurement length into the silicon. Momentum resolution is further improved through quality control in wire positioning and symmetry of the electric fields in the drift cells which have provided a reduction in the spatial resolution to 88 μm (averaged over the full drift range).

Abstract: We have measured the charge asymmetry in like-sign dilepton yields from B(0)B*(0) meson decays using the CLEO detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring. We find a(0)(ll) identical with[N(l(+)l(+))-N(l(-)l(-))]/[N(l(+)l(+))+N(l(-)l(-))] = +0.013+/-0.050+/-0.005. We combine this result with a previous, independent measurement and obtain Re(epsilon(B))/(1+ the absolute value of epsilon(B)(2)) = +0.0035+/-0.0103+/-0.0015 (uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively) for the CP impurity parameter, epsilon(B).

Abstract: The spectrum of charmed baryons consisting of a charmed quark and two light quarks denoted by Ac and σc baryons were investigated. The sample used in the investigation corresponds to an integrated luminosity 13.7/fb from the data taken on the Y(4S) resonance and in the continuum at energies just below the Y(4S). A broad state with an invariant mass roughly above 480 MeV above that of the Ac baryon and a narrow state with an invariant mass of 596 MeV above the Ac mass were found.

Abstract: Using 13.7 $fb^{-1}$ of data recorded by the CLEO detector at CESR, we report evidence for two new charmed baryons: one decaying into $\Xi_c^{0 \prime}\pi^+$ with the subsequent decay $\Xi_c^{0 \prime} \to \Xi_c^0 \gamma$, and its isospin partner decaying into $\Xi_c^{+ \prime} \pi^-$ followed by $\Xi_c^{+\prime} \to \Xi_c^+\gamma$. We measure the following mass differences for the two states: $M(\Xi_c^0 \gamma \pi^+)-M(\Xi_c^0)$=318.2+-1.3+-2.9 MeV, and $M(\Xi_c^+ \gamma \pi^-)-M(\Xi_c^+)$=324.0+-1.3+-3.0 MeV. We interpret these new states as the $J^P = 1/2^- \Xi_{c1}$ particles, the charmed-strange analogs of the $\Lambda_{c1}^+(2593)$.

Abstract: The CLEO experiment at the CESR collider has used 13.7 fb(-1) of data to search for the production of the Omega(0)(c) (css ground state) in e(+)e(-) collisions at square root of (s) approximately 10.6 GeV. The modes used to study the Omega(0)(c) are Omega(-)pi(+), Omega(-)pi(+)pi(0), Xi-K-pi(+)pi(+), Xi0K-pi(+), and Omega(-)pi(+)pi(+)pi(-). We observe a signal of 40.4+/-9.0(stat) events at a mass of 2694.6+/-2.6(stat)+/-1.9(syst) MeV/c(2), for all modes combined.

Abstract: We have studied two-body charmless hadronic decays of B mesons into the final states straight phiK and phiK(*). Using 9.7 million BB pairs collected with the CLEO II detector, we observe the decays B- --> phiK- and B0--> phiK(*0) with the following branching fractions: B(B--->phiK-) = (5.5(+2.1)(-1.8)+/-0.6)x10(-6) and B(B0--> phiK(*0)) = (11.5(+4.5+1.8)(-3.7-1.7))x10(-6). We also see evidence for the decays B0-->phiK0 and B---> phiK(*-). However, since the statistical significance is not overwhelming for these modes, we determine upper limits of

Abstract: We report the first observation of exclusive decays of the type B-->D(*)N_NX, where N is a nucleon. Using a sample of 9.7x10(6)B_B pairs collected with the CLEO detector operating at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring, we measure the branching fractions B(B0-->D(*-)p_p pi(+)) = (6.5(+1.3)(-1.2)+/-1.0)x10(-4) and B(B0-->D(*-)p_n) = (14.5(+3.4)(-3.0)+/-2.7)x10(-4). Antineutrons are identified by their annihilation in the CsI electromagnetic calorimeter.

Abstract: We analyze 9.7x10(6) B_B pairs recorded with the CLEO detector to determine the production ratio of charged to neutral B-meson pairs produced at the Upsilon(4S) resonance. We measure the rates for B0-->J/psiK((*)0) and B+-->J/psiK((*)+) decays and use the world-average B-meson lifetime ratio to extract the relative widths f(+-) / f(00) = gamma(Upsilon(4S)-->B+B-) / gamma(Upsilon(4S)-->B0 B-0)) = 1.04+/-0.07(stat)+/-0.04(syst). With the assumption that f(+-)+f(00) = 1, we obtain f(00) = 0.49+/-0.02(stat)+/-0.01(syst) and f(+-) = 0.51+/-0.02(stat)+/-0.01(syst). This production ratio and its uncertainty apply to all exclusive B-meson branching fractions measured at the Upsilon(4S) resonance.

Abstract: Using data recorded with the CLEO II and CLEO II.V detector configurations at the Cornell Electron Storage Rings, we report the first observation and mass measurement of the ${\ensuremath{\Sigma}}_{c}^{*+}$ charmed baryon, and an updated measurement of the mass of the ${\ensuremath{\Sigma}}_{c}^{+}$ baryon. We find $M({\ensuremath{\Sigma}}_{c}^{*+})\ensuremath{-}M({\ensuremath{\Lambda}}_{c}^{+})\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}=\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}(231.0\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}1.1\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}2.0)\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}\mathrm{MeV}$, and $M({\ensuremath{\Sigma}}_{c}^{+})\ensuremath{-}M({\ensuremath{\Lambda}}_{c}^{+})\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}=\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}(166.4\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.2\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.3)\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}\mathrm{MeV}$, where the errors are statistical and systematic, respectively.

Abstract: In a sample of $9.66\times 10^6 B\bar{B}$ pairs collected with the CLEO detector we make the first observation of B decays to an $\eta_c$ and a kaon. We measure branching fractions $BR(B^+\to\eta_c K^+) = (0.69 + 0.26 - 0.21 +- 0.08 +- 0.20)\times 10^{-3}$ and $BR(B^0\to\eta_c K^0) = (1.09 + 0.55 - 0.42 +- 0.12 +- 0.31)\times 10^{-3}$, where the first error is statistical, the second is systematic and the third is from the $\eta_c$ branching fraction uncertainty. From these we extract the $\eta_c$ decay constant in the factorization approximation, $f_{\eta_c} = 335 +- 75$ MeV. We also search for B decays to a $\chi_{c0}$ and a kaon. No evidence for a signal is found and we set 90% CL upper limits: $BR(B^+\to\chi_{c0} K^+) < 4.8\times 10^{-4}$ and $BR(B^0\to\chi_{c0} K^0) < 5.0\times 10^{-4}$.

Abstract: We have studied charmless hadronic decays of B mesons into two-body final states with kaons and pions and observe three new processes with the following branching fractions: B(B{yields}{pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup -})=(4.3{sup +1.6}{sub -1.4}{+-}0.5)x10{sup -6} , B(B{yields}K{sup 0}{pi}{sup 0}) =(14.6{sup +5.9+2.4}{sub -5.1-3.3})x 10{sup -6} , and B(B{yields}K{sup {+-}}{pi}{sup 0} )=(11.6{sup +3.0+1.4}{sub -2.7-1.3}) x10{sup -6} . We also update our previous measurements for the decays B{yields}K{sup {+-}}{pi}{sup {+-}} and B{sup {+-}}{yields}K{sup 0}{pi}{sup {+-}} . (c) 2000 The American Physical Society.

Abstract: We search for CP-violating asymmetries (Acp) in the B meson decays to K+- pi-+, K+- pi0, Ks pi+-, K+- eta', and omega pi+-. Using 9.66 million Upsilon(4S) decays collected with the CLEO detector, the statistical precision on Acp is in the range of \pm 0.12 to \pm 0.25 depending on decay mode. While CP-violating asymmetries of up to \pm 0.5 are possible within the Standard Model, the measured asymmetries are consistent with zero in all five decay modes studied., 10 pages, 3 figures

Abstract: We present a search for direct CP violation in B{sup {+-}}{yields}J/{psi}K{sup {+-}} and B{sup {+-}}{yields}{psi}(2S)K{sup {+-}} decays. In a sample of 9.7x10{sup 6} BB meson pairs collected with the CLEO detector, we have fully reconstructed 534 B{sup {+-}}{yields}J/{psi} K{sup {+-}} and 120 B{sup {+-}}{yields}{psi}(2 S)K{sup {+-}} decays with very low background. We have measured the CP -violating charge asymmetry to be [+1.8{+-}4.3(stat){+-}0. 4(syst)]% for B{sup {+-}}{yields}J/{psi}K{sup {+-}} and [+2.0{+-}9.1(stat){+-}1. 0(syst)]% for B{sup {+-}}{yields}{psi}(2S)K{sup {+-}} . Abstract: We report results of a search for the rare radiative decay B(bar sign){sup 0}{yields}D{sup *0} {gamma} . Using 9.66x10{sup 6} BB(bar sign) meson pairs collected with the CLEO detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring, we set an upper limit on the branching ratio for this decay of 5.0x10{sup -5} at 90% C.L. This provides evidence that the anomalous enhancement is absent in W -exchange processes and that weak radiative B decays are dominated by the short-distance b{yields}s{gamma} mechanism in the standard model. Abstract: We present the first observation of the decay B{yields}J/{psi}{phi}K . Using 9.6x10{sup 6} BB meson pairs collected with the CLEO detector, we have observed ten fully reconstructed B{yields}J/{psi}{phi}K candidates, whereas the estimated background is 0.5{+-}0.2 event. We obtain a branching fraction of B(B{yields}J/{psi}{phi}K)=( 8.8{sup +3.5}{sub -3.0}[stat] {+-}1.3[syst])x10{sup -5} . This is the first observed B meson decay requiring the creation of an additional ss quark pair. (c) 2000 The American Physical Society.

Abstract: We have searched for the rare decays of the eta prime meson to e+ e- eta, e+ e- pizero, e+ e- gamma, and e mu in hadronic events at the CLEO II detector. The search is conducted on 4.80 fb^-1 of e+ e- collisions at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring. We find no signal in any of these modes, and set 90% confidence level upper limits on their branching fractions of 2.4 X 10^-3, 1.4 X 10^-3, 0.9 X 10^-3, and 4.7 X 10^-4, respectively. We also investigate the Dalitz plot of the common decay of the eta prime to pi+ pi- eta. We fit the matrix element with the Particle Data Group parameterization and find Re(alpha) = -0.021 +- 0.025, where alpha is a linear function of the kinetic energy of the eta.

Abstract: Using 13.7 fb(-1) of data recorded by the CLEO detector at Cornell Electron Storage Ring, we report evidence of two new charmed baryons: one decaying into Xi(0')(c)pi(+) with the subsequent decay Xi(0')(c)-->Xi(0)(c)gamma, and its isospin partner decaying into Xi(+')(c)pi(-) followed by Xi(+')(c)-->Xi(+)(c)gamma. We measure the following mass differences for the two states: M(Xi(0)(c)gammapi(+))-M(Xi(0)(c)) = 318.2+/-1.3+/-2.9 MeV and M(Xi(+)(c)gammapi(-))-M(Xi(+)(c)) = 324.0+/-1.3+/-3.0 MeV. We interpret these new states as the J(P) = 1 / 2(-) Xi(c1) particles, the charmed-strange analogs of the Lambda(+)(c1)(2593).

Abstract: We report on a search for the radiative decay of {upsilon}(1S) to the pseudoscalar mesons {eta} and {eta}{sup '} in (21.2{+-}0.2)x10{sup 6} {upsilon}(1S) decays collected with the CLEO III detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring. The {eta} meson was reconstructed in the three modes {eta}{yields}{gamma}{gamma}, {eta}{yields}{pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup -}{pi}{sup 0}, or {eta}{yields}{pi}{sup 0}{pi}{sup 0}{pi}{sup 0}. The {eta}{sup '} meson was reconstructed in the mode {eta}{sup '}{yields}{pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup -}{eta} with {eta} decaying through any of the above three modes, and also {eta}{sup '}{yields}{gamma}{rho}{sup 0}, where {rho}{sup 0}{yields}{pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup -}. Five out of the seven submodes are found to have very low backgrounds. In four of them we find no signal candidates and in one [{upsilon}(1S){yields}{gamma}{eta}{sup '}, {eta}{sup '}{yields}{pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup -}{eta}, {eta}{yields}{pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup -}{pi}{sup 0}] there are two good signal candidates, which is insufficient evidence to claim a signal. The other two submodes ({eta}{yields}{gamma}{gamma} and {eta}{sup '}{yields}{gamma}{rho}) are background limited, and show no excess of events in their signal regions. We combine the results from different channels and obtain upper limits at the 90% C.L. which are B({upsilon}(1S){yields}{gamma}{eta})

Abstract: We have studied semileptonic B decay to the exclusive charmless states π, ρ/ω, η and η' using the full 15.5 fb -1 CLEO Υ(4S) sample, with measurements performed in subregions of phase space to minimize dependence on a priori knowledge of the form factors involved. We find total branching fractions B(B 0 → π - l + ν) = (1.37 ± 0.15 stat ± 0.11 sys ) × 10 -4 and B(B 0 → ρ - l + ν) = (2.93 ± 0.37 stat ± 0.37 sys ) X 10 -4 . We find evidence for B + → η'l + ν, with B(B + → η'l + ν) = (2.66 ± ±0.80 stat ± 0.56 sys ) × 10 -4 and 1.20 × 10 -4 < B(B + → η'l + ν) < 4.46 × 10 -4 (90% CL). We also limit B(B + → ηl + ν) < 1.01 × 10 -4 (90% CL). By combining our B → πlν information with unquenched lattice calculations, we find |V ub | = (3.6 ± 0.4 stat ± 0.2 sys +0.6 0.4thy ) × 10 -3 .

Abstract: We study semileptonic B decay to the exclusive charmless states pi, rho/omega, eta, and eta;{'} using the 16 fb(-1) CLEO Upsilon(4S) data sample. We find B(B0-->pi-l+nu)=(1.37+/-0.15stat+/-0.11sys)x10(-4) and B(B0-->rho-l+nu)=(2.93+/-0.37stat+/-0.37sys)x10(-4) and find evidence for B+-->eta'l+nu, with B(B+-->eta'l+nu)=(2.66+/-0.80stat+/-0.56sys)x10(-4). From our B-->pilnu rate for q2>16 GeV2 and lattice QCD, we find |Vub|=(3.6+/0.4stat+/0.2syst-0.4thy+0.6)x10(-3) [corrected]

Abstract: Using the current world's largest data sample of psi(3770) decays, we present results of a search for the non-DDbar decay psi(3770) -> KsKl. We find no signal, and obtain an upper limit of Sigma(psi(3770) -> KsKl) KsKl) based on a charmonia-mixing model.

Abstract: We report on a study of exclusive radiative decays of the {upsilon}(1S) resonance into the final states {gamma}{pi}{sup 0}{pi}{sup 0}, {gamma}{eta}{eta} and {gamma}{pi}{sup 0}{eta}, using 1.13 fb{sup -1} of e{sup +}e{sup -} annihilation data collected at {radical}(s)=9.46 GeV with the CLEO III detector operating at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring. In the channel {gamma}{pi}{sup 0}{pi}{sup 0}, we measure the branching ratio for the decay mode {upsilon}(1S){yields}{gamma}f{sub 2}(1270) to be (10.5{+-}1.6(stat){sub -1.8}{sup +1.9}(syst))x10{sup -5}. We place upper limits on the product branching ratios for the isoscalar resonances f{sub 0}(1500) and f{sub 0}(1710) for the {pi}{sup 0}{pi}{sup 0} and {eta}{eta} decay channels. We also set an upper limit on the {upsilon}(1S) radiative decay into {pi}{sup 0}{eta}.

Abstract: We study semileptonic B decay to the exclusive charmless states pi, rho/omega, eta, and eta;{'} using the 16 fb(-1) CLEO Upsilon(4S) data sample. We find B(B0--pi-l+nu)=(1.37+/-0.15stat+/-0.11sys)x10(-4) and B(B0--rho-l+nu)=(2.93+/-0.37stat+/-0.37sys)x10(-4) and find evidence for B+--eta'l+nu, with B(B+--eta'l+nu)=(2.66+/-0.80stat+/-0.56sys)x10(-4). From our B--pilnu rate for q216 GeV2 and lattice QCD, we find |Vub|=(3.6+/0.4stat+/0.2syst-0.4thy+0.6)x10(-3) [corrected]

Abstract: Using data collected with the CLEO III detector at the CESR e{sup +}e{sup -} collider, we report on a first observation of the decay {upsilon}(3S){yields}{tau}{sup +}{tau}{sup -}, and precisely measure the ratio of branching fractions of {upsilon}(nS), n=1, 2, 3, to {tau}{sup +}{tau}{sup -} and {mu}{sup +}{mu}{sup -} final states, finding agreement with expectations from lepton universality. We derive absolute branching fractions for these decays, and also set a limit on the influence of a low mass CP-odd Higgs boson in the decay of the {upsilon}(1S)

Abstract: Using CLEO data, we study the production of the antideuteron, d, in {upsilon}(nS) resonance decays and the nearby continuum. The branching ratios obtained are B{sup dir}({upsilon}(1S){yields}dX)=(3.36{+-}0.23{+-}0.25)x10{sup -5}, B({upsilon}(1S){yields}dX)=(2.86{+-}0.19{+-}0.21)x10{sup -5}, and B({upsilon}(2S){yields}dX)=(3.37{+-}0.50{+-}0.25)x10{sup -5}, where the 'dir' superscript indicates that decays produced via reannihilation of the bb pair to a {gamma}* are removed from both the signal and the normalizing number of {upsilon}(1S) decays in order to isolate direct decays of the {upsilon}(1S) to ggg, gg{gamma}. Upper limits at 90% C.L. are given for B({upsilon}(4S){yields}dX)

Abstract: We present measurements of the inclusive branching fractions for the decays ${D}^{+}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}X{e}^{+}{\ensuremath{\nu}}_{e}$ and ${D}^{0}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}X{e}^{+}{\ensuremath{\nu}}_{e}$, using $281\text{ }\text{ }{\mathrm{pb}}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$ of data collected on the $\ensuremath{\psi}(3770)$ resonance with the CLEO-c detector. We find $\mathcal{B}({D}^{0}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}X{e}^{+}{\ensuremath{\nu}}_{e})=(6.46\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.17\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.13)%$ and $\mathcal{B}({D}^{+}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}X{e}^{+}{\ensuremath{\nu}}_{e})=(16.13\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.20\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.33)%$. Using the known $D$ meson lifetimes, we obtain the ratio ${\ensuremath{\Gamma}}_{{D}^{+}}^{\mathrm{sl}}/{\ensuremath{\Gamma}}_{{D}^{0}}^{\mathrm{sl}}=0.985\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.028\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.015$, confirming isospin invariance at the level of 3%. The positron momentum spectra from ${D}^{+}$ and ${D}^{0}$ have consistent shapes.

Abstract: We present model independent measurements of the helicity basis form factors in the decay D{sup +}{yields}K{sup -}{pi}{sup +}e{sup +}{nu}{sub e} obtained from about 2 800 decays reconstructed from a 281 pb{sup -1} data sample collected at the {psi}(3770) center-of-mass energy with the CLEO-c detector. We confirm the existence of a previously observed spin-zero K{sup -}{pi}{sup +} component interfering with the K*{sup 0} amplitude. We see no evidence for additional d- or f-wave contributions.

Abstract: We have studied the Cabibbo-suppressed decay mode ${D}^{0}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{K}^{+}{K}^{\ensuremath{-}}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}$ using a Dalitz plot technique and find the strong phase difference ${\ensuremath{\delta}}_{D}\ensuremath{\equiv}{\ensuremath{\delta}}_{{K}^{*\ensuremath{-}}{K}^{+}}\ensuremath{-}{\ensuremath{\delta}}_{{K}^{*+}{K}^{\ensuremath{-}}}=332\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{}\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}8\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{}\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}11\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{}$ and relative amplitude ${r}_{D}\ensuremath{\equiv}{a}_{{K}^{*\ensuremath{-}}{K}^{+}}/{a}_{{K}^{*+}{K}^{\ensuremath{-}}}=0.52\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.05\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.04$. This measurement indicates significant destructive interference between ${D}^{0}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{K}^{+}({K}^{\ensuremath{-}}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}{)}_{{K}^{*\ensuremath{-}}}$ and ${D}^{0}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{K}^{\ensuremath{-}}({K}^{+}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}{)}_{{K}^{*+}}$ in the Dalitz plot region where these two modes overlap. This analysis uses $9.0\text{ }\text{ }{\mathrm{fb}}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$ of data collected at $\sqrt{s}\ensuremath{\approx}10.58\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{GeV}$ with the CLEO III detector.

Abstract: From e{sup +}e{sup -} collision data acquired with the CLEO-c detector at CESR, we search for the non-DD decays {psi}(3770){yields}{gamma}{chi}{sub cJ}, with {chi}{sub cJ} reconstructed in four exclusive decays modes containing charged pions and kaons. We report the first observation of such decays for J=0 with a branching ratio of (0.73{+-}0.07{+-}0.06)%. The rates for different J are consistent with the expectations assuming {psi}(3770) is predominantly a 1{sup 3}D{sub 1} state of charmonium, but only if relativistic corrections are applied.

Abstract: Using the current world's largest data sample of $\ensuremath{\psi}(3770)$ decays, we present results of a search for the non-$D\overline{D}$ decay $\ensuremath{\psi}(3770)\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{K}_{S}^{0}{K}_{L}^{0}$. We find no signal, and obtain an upper limit of $\ensuremath{\sigma}({e}^{+}{e}^{\ensuremath{-}}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\psi}(3770)\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{K}_{S}^{0}{K}_{L}^{0})l0.07\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{pb}$ at 90% confidence level (CL). Our result tests a theoretical prediction for the upper bound on $\mathcal{B}(\ensuremath{\psi}(3770)\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{K}_{S}^{0}{K}_{L}^{0})$ based on a charmonia-mixing model.

Abstract: Using a sample of 3.08 million psi(2S) decays collected at sqrt{s} = 3.686 GeV with the CLEO detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring, we have measured the branching fractions for psi(2S) decays to pseudoscalar pairs pi+pi-, K+K-, and KsKl. We obtain B(psi(2S) -> pi+pi-) K+K-) = (6.3 +- 0.6(stat) +- 0.3(syst)) x 10^{-5}, and B(psi(2S) -> KsKl) = (5.8 +- 0.8(stat) +- 0.4(syst)) x 10^{-5}. The branching fractions allow extraction of the relative phase Delta = (95 +- 15) degrees and strength ratio R = (2.5 +- 0.4) of the three-gluon and one-photon amplitudes for these modes.

Abstract: Using data taken with the CLEO III detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring, we have investigated the direct photon spectrum in the decays $\ensuremath{\Upsilon}(1\mathrm{S})\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\gamma}gg$, $\ensuremath{\Upsilon}(2\mathrm{S})\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\gamma}gg$, $\ensuremath{\Upsilon}(3\mathrm{S})\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\gamma}gg$. The latter two of these are first measurements. Our analysis procedures differ from previous ones in the following ways: (a) background estimates (primarily from ${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}$ decays) are based on isospin symmetry rather than a determination of the ${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}$ spectrum, which permits measurement of the $\ensuremath{\Upsilon}(2\mathrm{S})$ and $\ensuremath{\Upsilon}(3\mathrm{S})$ direct photon spectra without explicit corrections for ${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}$ backgrounds from, e.g., ${\ensuremath{\chi}}_{bJ}$ states, (b) we estimate the branching fractions with a parametrized functional form (exponential) used for the background, and c) we use the high-statistics sample of $\ensuremath{\Upsilon}(2\mathrm{S})\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\pi}\ensuremath{\pi}\ensuremath{\Upsilon}(1\mathrm{S})$ to obtain a tagged sample of $\ensuremath{\Upsilon}(1\mathrm{S})\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\gamma}+X$ events, for which there are no QED backgrounds. We determine values for the ratio of the inclusive direct photon decay rate to that of the dominant three-gluon decay $\ensuremath{\Upsilon}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}ggg\text{ }\text{ }({R}_{\ensuremath{\gamma}}=B(gg\ensuremath{\gamma})/B(ggg))$ to be ${R}_{\ensuremath{\gamma}}(1\mathrm{S})=(2.70\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.01\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.13\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.24)%$, ${R}_{\ensuremath{\gamma}}(2\mathrm{S})=(3.18\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.04\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.22\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.41)%$, and ${R}_{\ensuremath{\gamma}}(3\mathrm{S})=(2.72\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.06\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.32\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.37)%$, where the errors shown are statistical, systematic, and theoretical model dependent, respectively. Given a value of ${Q}^{2}$, one can estimate a value for the strong coupling constant ${\ensuremath{\alpha}}_{s}({Q}^{2})$ from ${R}_{\ensuremath{\gamma}}$.

Abstract: From e(+)e(-) collision data acquired with the CLEO detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring, we observe the non-DD(_) decay Psi(3770))-->gammachi(c1) with a statistical significance of 6.6 standard deviations, using the two-photon cascades to J/Psi and J/Psi-->l(+)l(-). We determine sigma(e(=)e(-)-->Psi(3770))xBeta(Psi(3770)-->gammachi(c1))=(18.0 +/- 3.3 +/- 2.5) pb and branching fraction Beta(Psi(3770)-->gammachi(c1)=(2.8 +/- 0.5+/-0.4) x 10(-3). We set 90% C.L. upper limits for the transition to chi(c2) (chi(c0)): sigma x Beta pi(+)pi(-)J/Psi)=1.5 +/- 0.3 +/- 0.3 (>1.0 at 90% C.L.), which bears upon the interpretation of X(3872).

Abstract: Using data collected with the CLEO detector operating at the CESR e+e- collider at sqrt[s]=3.97-4.26 GeV, we investigate 15 charmonium decay modes of the psi(4040), psi(4160), and Y(4260) resonances. We confirm, at 11 sigma significance, the BABAR Y(4260)-->pi+pi- J/psi discovery, make the first observation of Y(4260)--> pi(0)pi(0) J/psi (5.1 sigma), and find the first evidence for Y(4260)-->K+K- J/psi(3.7 sigma). We measure e+e- cross sections at sqrt[s]=4.26 GeV as sigma(pi+pi- J/psi)=58(+12)(-10)+/-4 pb, sigma(pi(0)pi(0) J/psi)=23(+12)(-8)+/-1 pb, and sigma(K+K- J/psi)=9(+9)(-5)+/-1 pb, in which the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. Upper limits are placed on other decay rates from all three resonances.
