Traceability codes are identifiable parent property (IPP) codes with the additional requirement that the Hamming distance can be used to trace a parent of a word. Traceability codes can be used for constructing digital fingerprints in order to deter users from illegally copying digital data. We construct a class of traceability codes and determine the exact parameters of some of the codes in this class.

A new approach to low redundancy coding for reducing power dissipation in parallel on-chip, deep sub-micron buses is presented. It is shown that the new approach allows lower power dissipation than previous solutions in the given model, yielding reductions of 24% to 41% compared to uncoded transmission for the considered bus widths. Finally some important open problems are given.

In this paper we introduce new knowledge about bus invert coding schemes. We give a condition on the system which, if it is fulfilled, tells us that no more reduction in energy dissipation can be made, even if more than one state ahead is known. We also verify that this condition is fulfilled in two known bus invert coding schemes.

A digital fingerprint is a unique pattern embedded in a digital document to be able to identify a specific copy when it is used illegally. We have looked at two specific code structures for fingerprinting purpose. Binary linear codes, often used as error correcting codes, and what we call a binary sorted code.

International audience; Cet article constitue une synthèse sur l'aristocratie et la féodalité en Languedoc aux siècles centraux du Moyen Age. Il s'ouvre sur une présentation très générale du cadre géographique et politique du Languedoc des XIe-XIIe siècles, des diverses dynasties comtales et vicomtales, de l'omniprésence de la seigneurie castrale. On trouvera ensuite une typologie de la documentation féodale à notre disposition pour décrire la société des siècles centraux du Moyen Age, mettant l'accent sur l'originalité des sources languedociennes qui réside essentiellement dans leur origine laïque et dans leur précocité. Ces analyses m'ont conduite à proposer quelques réflexions générales sur le fonctionnement de l'aristocratie languedocienne et sur le processus de sa féodalisation.
