Cerium oxide particles with different morphologies, namely nanoparticles, nanofibers, nanocubes, and rice grains have been prepared by simple chemical routes. The shape and size of the synthesized morphologies have been studied using field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). X-ray diffraction (XRD) and selected area electron diffraction (SAED) techniques have been used to determine their crystal phases. Both nanoparticles and nanocubes of cerium oxide exclusively crystallize in fluorite structure of CeO2 as observed in XRD patterns, whereas nanofibers and rice grains are characterized by the presence of CeO2, Ce2O3, and Ce(OH)3 phases. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) has been employed to evaluate Ce species present in the different cerium oxide morphologies and to estimate their relative surface concentrations. As evident from Ce 3d core level spectra cerium oxide nanoparticles and nanocubes are basically CeO2 having Ce in the +4 oxidation state along with some amount of Ce3+ species. In contrast, Ce is in +3 oxidation state on its surface in cerium oxide nanofibers and rice grains that contain intermediate phases like Ce2O3 and Ce(OH)3 as endorsed by XRD patterns. CO oxidation has been carried out over these cerium oxide morphologies and among all morphologies lowest temperature CO oxidation has been demonstrated by the nanocube morphology.

Introduction: Oxidative stress is a normal phenomenon in normotensive pregnancy; however, in preeclampsia, oxidative stress is exaggerated may result in a greater potential for endothelial oxidative damage. It has been reported that higher MDA (Malondialdehyde) /total antioxidant capacity (TAC) ratio is indicative of oxidative stress in women with pre-eclampsia. Materials and Methods: Prospective study was done for duration of 2 years i.e, from January 2015 to December 2017 in the department of Biochemistry at Kakatiya Medical College, Hanmakonda, CKM hospital Warangal. A total number of 60 pregnant women were included in the study. Among these, 20 pregnant women were clinically diagnosed as pre-eclampsia and 20 are eclamptic cases and the remaining 20 were selected as control group and are normotensive antenatal women who are also in third trimester of pregnancy. Results: The mean MDA, serum uric acid, 24 hr urinary protein were higher in pre-eclampsia and eclampsia compared to controls. Conclusion: Increased lipid peroxidation products levels clearly shows that oxidation stress is more in pre-eclampsia and eclampsia than in control subjects and it plays a significant role in etiopathogensis of PIH. Serum uric acid levels are significantly higher in cases than in controls and by estimating the uric acid levels we can assess the severity of the disease and we can avoid further progress of the disease process by early detection and prompt treatment. Total serum protein levels are drastically reduced in pre-eclampsia and eclampsia cases compared to controls. Keywords: MDA, Serum uric acid, Proteins, Eclampsia, Pre-eclampsia.

This work addresses a facile and broadly applicable method of fabricating a new thermoplastic shape memory polymer (SMP) composite by blending three biopolymers such as polyvinyl alcohol, polyvinyl pyrrolidone and polyethylene glycol. Reduced Graphene (rGO) is used as electrical conductive fillers. Iron Oxide (Fe3O4) and rGO-Fe3O4 combination provides thermo-electric stimulus. Under the thermal stimulus, shape recovery rate of the SMP with hybrid fillers was faster, having quick response time (28 s) compared to electrical stimulus response time (75 s). The conductivity of the SMP matrices increased by 7, 10 and 15 orders of magnitude by incorporating Fe3O4, rGO and rGO- Fe3O4 fillers, respectively. Moreover, the proposed shape memory polymer containing rGO-Fe3O4 filler exhibits a higher Young’s modulus (> 80%) compared to neat polymer (1.75 GPa at room temperature and 0.6 GPa at glass transition temperature, Tg). A maximum stress of 2.5 MPa and 4% recoverable strain was achieved in the SMP with 10 and 15 wt% of hybrid fillers and interestingly no stored strain evolves, upon cooling below Tg. The developed SMP may be applied in morphing wing and other smart actuator applications.

Cytokine storm an uncontrolled over-production of soluble markers of inflammation which is systemic inflammatory response, is a major responsible for the occurrence of ARDS. Animal studies that have implicated ACE2 in the acute lung injury caused due to SARSCoV. It has been hypothesized that ACE2 causes ALI by bringing about autophagy through the AMPK/mTOR pathway. Metformin works through AMPK activation, which leads to phosphorylation of ACE2 and there is an structural change which unables SARS CoV2 to bind with it also it is known that metformin can reduce CRP level.This study aim to find the role of metformin in COVID 19 on disease regression by both clinical assessment and laboratory values.Single blinded randomised controlled trial, parallel group, placebo controlled study for 1 month duration at tertiary health care centre. There is significant clinical improvement in 69% of the subjects at day 6 and 31% at day 7 in metformin group. Also there is effective reduction in CRP level whereas Sr.Ferritin levels are moderately reduced. There is no adverse effect during study period.

In this paper, a Modified Adaptive Cluster-Based Heuristic Approach (MACHBA) has been proposed for wireless sensor networks (WSNs) to perform the cooperative spectrum sensing (CSS) in the shopping mall, weather forecasting, military area and audio, video transmission applications. A Secure CSS based MACBHA has been proposed for secondary spectrum usage. Unlicensed Secondary Users (SUs) utilize parts of the spectrum, which are not used by the licensed primary users (PUs) in cognitive radio WSNs. The unused spectrum of the PUs is utilized by the secondary user cluster. The performance of the MACBHA in WSNs is evaluated using the network simulator tool NS-2.35 in Ubuntu 16.04.6 LTS (Xenial Xerus) operating system. The simulation result shows the performance improvement in network utility. Even though, the number of SUs increases, a minimum latency is achieved.

The properties of Co-Fe-W-P magnetic thin films electrodeposited in the presence of sodium hypophosphite as a precursor with varying concentrations were studied with respect to thickness of the films. Films were electrodeposited in various current densities in order to get different thickness and uniform deposits. Vibrating sample magnetometer studies indicate the magnetic saturation (Ms), retentivity (Mr) and coercivity (Hc) of these films. Crystallite size and dislocation density of Co-Fe-W-P thin films were calculated by X-ray diffraction studies. Surface morphology analysis was carried out by using Scanning Electron Microscope. Percentages of elemental analysis of Co-Fe-W-P thin films were obtained by using energy dispersive X-ray analysis. Hardness and adhesion of the films were also studied. Difference in magnetic properties and structural characteristics are discussed.
