In experimental studies in male Wistar-rats exerted for determination of trichloroethylene, ethanol and combined action influences on the substance P plasma concentrations. These concentrations were determined by a radioimmunological method. The acute exposure of trichloroethylene and ethanol lead to a significant rise of substance P. We found high substance P concentration peaks, in principle, 4 h after acute exposure and the combined action shows the greatest effect.

Lipophilic propionibacterium acnes stores large amounts of porphyrins. This peculiarity can be used for photodynamic destruction of propionibacteria. After repeated irradiations with a blue light-type high pressure lamp (Narva NC 1000-64) both acne and seborrhoea was improved markedly (10 irradiations, each for 10 minutes, cumulative light dose 325 J/cm2). Also porphyrin content inside acne follicles dropped. Serial irradiations with short range visible light (400 to 420 nm) are recommended for acne treatment during the light-poor season of the year.

In Berlin a control and intervention regimen agreed upon by the Central Institute of Industrial Medicine of the GDR (ZAM) and the Industrial Hygiene Inspection of the Municipal Council has been applied in cooperation with the works health service for industrio-medical attendance of lead-exposed employees since 1984. The intervals for the check-ups by biological exposure tests are determined in higher-exposed employees resulting from blood concentration assays in addition to the legal regulations. The intervention regimen provides instructions for measures to the works doctor if the biological exposure tests indicate some high individual risk to health. The results of the application of this regimen are reported.

The influence of various conditions at blood-letting on the concentration of SP in the plasma was investigated in male Wistar rats as background for following studies on effects of noxae. Narcotic substance (hexobarbital, ether), CO2-suffocation and the mechanical kinds of killing (cervical dislocation, occipital hit, decapitation) influence the SP concentration in different ways. It is assumed SP concentration in plasma after cervical dislocation to be the best corresponding value for physiological conditions.

29 persons were observed over 3 days during 27 two-hours intervals at normal daily work and at the spare-time. A higher activation level of the urinary excretion rate of adrenaline is found only among the male Type-A-subjects. The influence of sex on the variability of the excretion is stronger than the influence of the Type A/B. The increase of the adrenaline excretion baseline related is very obvious among the Type-A-subjects during periods of higher mental and emotional demands.
