The phenomenon of compartmentalization is one of the key traits of life. Biological membranes and histohematic barriers protect the internal environment of the cell and organism from endogenous and exogenous impacts. It is known that the integrity of these barriers decreases with age due to the loss of homeostasis, including age-related gene expression profile changes and the abnormal folding/assembly, crosslinking, and cleavage of barrier-forming macromolecules in addition to morphological changes in cells and tissues. The critical molecular and cellular mechanisms involved in physiological barrier integrity maintenance and aging-associated changes in their functioning are reviewed on different levels: molecular, organelle, cellular, tissue (histohematic, epithelial, and endothelial barriers), and organ one (skin). Biogerontology, which studies physiological barriers in the aspect of age, is still in its infancy; data are being accumulated, but there is no talk of the synthesis of complex theories yet. This paper mainly presents the mechanisms that will become targets of anti-aging therapy only in the future, possibly: pharmacological, cellular, and gene therapies, including potential geroprotectors, hormetins, senomorphic drugs, and senolytics., (© 2024. Herbivorous insects alter biogeochemical cycling within forests, but the magnitude of these impacts, their global variation, and drivers of this variation remain poorly understood. To address this knowledge gap and help improve biogeochemical models, we established a global network of 74 plots within 40 mature, undisturbed broadleaved forests. We analyzed freshly senesced and green leaves for carbon, nitrogen, phosphorus and silica concentrations, foliar production and herbivory, and stand-level nutrient fluxes. We show more nutrient release by insect herbivores at non-outbreak levels in tropical forests than temperate and boreal forests, that these fluxes increase strongly with mean annual temperature, and that they exceed atmospheric deposition inputs in some localities. Thus, background levels of insect herbivory are sufficiently large to both alter ecosystem element cycling and influence terrestrial carbon cycling. The implementation of information technologies into treatment practice of modern health care significantly increases efficiency of diagnosis and treatment of dorsopathies. The purpose of the study is to develop software module to evaluate post-urological status of patients with spine dorsopathy to optimize diagnostic process and treatment planning. The article describes application of original software module to assess the post-urological status of patients with spine dorsopathy. The proposed software module is designed for objective assessment of post-urological status of patients with spine dorsopathy based on photographic images of examined patient. The most important advantage of software module is built-in forecasting function that is implemented by calculation of severity of pain perceptions and movement disorders using generated regression equations. The possibility to record data obtained during measurements permits to store information in single system. The implementation of software module into clinical practice will contribute to qualitative improvement of diagnostic processes, simplify work of osteopath and reduce the time spent on examination.

Worldwide the aging population continues to increase, so the concept of healthy longevity medicine has become increasingly significant in modern society. Berberis vulgaris L. fruits serve as a functional food supplement with a high concentration of bioactive compounds, which offer numerous health-promoting benefits. The goal of this study was to investigate the geroprotective effect of Berberis vulgaris L. extract. Here we show that extract of Berberis vulgaris L. can, depending on concentrate, increases lifespan up to 6%, promote healthspan (stress resistance up to 35%, locomotor activity up to 25%, integrity of the intestinal barrier up to 12%, metabolic rate up to 5%) of Drosophila melanogaster (in vitro) and exhibits antioxidant (using red blood cell tests) and antiglycation activity (using glycation of bovine serum albumin) (in vitro). In addition to this, the extract does not exhibit cytotoxic properties in vitro, unlike the well-known polyphenolic compound quercetin. qRT-PCR has revealed the involvement of metabolic, heat shock response and lipid metabolism genes in the observed effects., (© 2023. Extracellular potassium concentration might modify electrophysiological properties in the border zone of ischemic myocardium. We evaluated the depolarization and repolarization characteristics across the ischemic-normal border under [K + ] variation. Sixty-four-lead epicardial mapping was performed in 26 rats ([K + ] 2.3-6.4 mM) in a model of acute ischemia/reperfusion. The animals with [K + ] < 4.7 mM (low-normal potassium) had an ischemic zone with ST-segment elevation and activation delay, a border zone with ST-segment elevation and no activation delay, and a normal zone without electrophysiological abnormalities. The animals with [K + ] >4.7 mM (normal-high potassium) had only the ischemic and normal zones and no transitional area. Activation-repolarization intervals and local conduction velocities were inversely associated with [K + ] in linear regression analysis with adjustment for the zone of myocardium. The reperfusion extrasystolic burden (ESB) was greater in the low-normal as compared to normal-high potassium animals. Ventricular tachycardia/fibrillation incidence did not differ between the groups. In patch-clamp experiments, hypoxia shortened action potential duration at 5.4 mM but not at 1.3 mM of [K + ]. IK(ATP) current was lower at 1.3 mM than at 5.4 mM of [K + ]. We conclude that the border zone formation in low-normal [K + ] was associated with attenuation of IK(ATP) response to hypoxia and increased reperfusion ESB., Competing Interests: The authors report no conflicts of interest in this work.

Studies investigating the taxonomic diversity and structure of soil bacteria in areas with enhanced radioactive backgrounds have been ongoing for three decades. An analysis of data published from 1996 to 2024 reveals changes in the taxonomic structure of radioactively contaminated soils compared to the reference, showing that these changes are not exclusively dependent on contamination rates or pollutant compositions. High levels of radioactive exposure from external irradiation and a high radionuclide content lead to a decrease in the alpha diversity of soil bacterial communities, both in laboratory settings and environmental conditions. The effects of low or moderate exposure are not consistently pronounced or unidirectional. Functional differences among taxonomic groups that dominate in contaminated soil indicate a variety of adaptation strategies. Bacteria identified as multiple-stress tolerant; exhibiting tolerance to metals and antibiotics; producing antioxidant enzymes, low-molecular antioxidants, and radioprotectors; participating in redox reactions; and possessing thermophilic characteristics play a significant role. Changes in the taxonomic and functional structure, resulting from increased soil radionuclide content, are influenced by the combined effects of ionizing radiation, the chemical toxicity of radionuclides and co-contaminants, as well as the physical and chemical properties of the soil and the initial bacterial community composition. Currently, the quantification of the differential contributions of these factors based on the existing published studies presents a challenge.

In this paper we investigate polyelectrolyte complexes of sodium alginate (Alg) and chitin nanocrystals (ChNC). Formation, stability and transport properties of sunflower oil-in-water emulsions stabilized by ChNC-Alg complex were studied using dynamic light scattering (DLS), laser Doppler electrophoresis, optical microscopy, potentiometric titration, rheology and simulated digestion. It has been established that during emulsions formation, the ChNC-Alg complex is rearranged at the interface and the formation of a two-layer coating of the droplet occurs. Stabilized O/W emulsions are stable during storage, in the pH range 2-9 and centrifugal acceleration up to 2000 RCF. Presence of Ca 2+ and Na + ions in the range up to 150 mM has virtually no effect on the droplet size. Inclusion of 5 wt% Alg in the ChNC-based emulsion stabilizer system leads to a drop in Gibbs adsorption >16 times compared to the ChNC-stabilized emulsion, increase in viscosity and rheopexy index of the systems. We found that chemical properties of colloidal phase surface and rheological properties of emulsions stabilized by ChNC-Alg are mostly dependent on the droplet size, not the type of oil as a result of a comparative study of sunflower oil/liquid paraffin oil. Emulsion drops of an optimized composition are stable in the upper parts of the model gastrointestinal tract system and transport vitamin D3 to the small intestine without significant losses. The present work reports on the determination of localization of T-DNA insertion in Arabidopsis thaliana SALK&#95;146824C line. The line is characterized as deficient in GDP-l-galactose phosphorylase 1 ( VTC2 ) gene encodes a protein involved in ascorbate biosynthesis. Primer pairs allow to distinguishing SALK&#95;146824C from wild type plants and to the exact localization of the insertion were designed used. Sanger sequencing confirmed the location of the T-DNA insertion in the sixth exon of the gene. RT-PCR data shows nearly undetectable levels of VTC2 mRNA expression level in SALK&#95;146824C line as compared with wild type plants of Columbia-0 line. In this work, screening studies of the cytotoxic effect of chlorins with fragments of di-, tri-, and pentaethylene glycol at the macrocycle periphery in relation to HeLa, A549, and HT29 cells were performed. It is shown that, despite different hydrophobicity, all the compounds studied have a comparable photodynamic effect. The conjugate of chlorin e 6 with pentaethylene glycol, which has the lowest tendency to association among the studied compounds with tropism for low density lipoproteins and the best characteristics of the formation of molecular complexes with Tween 80, has a significant difference in dark and photoinduced toxicity (ratio IC 50(dark) /IC 50(photo) approximately 2 orders of magnitude for all cell lines), which allows to hope for a sufficiently large "therapeutic window". A study of the interaction of this compound with HeLa cells shows that the substance penetrates the cell and, after red light irradiation induces ROS appearance inside the cell, associated, apparently, with the photogeneration of singlet oxygen. These data indicate that photoinduced toxic effects are caused by damage to intracellular structures as a result of oxidative stress. Programmed type of cell death characterized with caspase-3 induction is prevailing. So, the conjugate of chlorin e 6 with pentaethylene glycol is a promising antitumor PS that can be successfully solubilized with Tween 80, which makes it suitable for further in vivo studies., (© 2024. In this study, we described physico-chemical properties of novel nanoformulation of photosensitizer-pyropheophorbide α 17-diethylene glycol ester (XL) (chlorophyll α derivative), revealing insights into antitumor activity and maintaining quality, meeting the pharmaceutical approach of new nanoformulation design. Our formulation, based on poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) nanoparticles, increased XL solubility and selective tumor-targeted accumulation. In our research, we revealed, for the first time, that XL binding to polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) enhances XL photophysical activity, providing the rationale for PVA application as a stabilizer for nanoformulations. Results of FTIR, DSC, and XRD revealed the physical interactions between XL and excipients, including PVA, indicating that the encapsulation maintained XL binding to PVA. The encapsulated XL exhibited higher photophysical activity compared to non-encapsulated substance, which can be attributed to the influence of residual PVA. Gamma-irradiation led to degradation of XL; however, successful sterilization of the samples was achieved through the filtration. Importantly, the encapsulated and sterilized XL retained cytotoxicity against both 2D and 3D tumor cell models, demonstrating the potential of the formulated NP-XL for photodynamic therapy applications, but lacked the ability to reactivate epigenetically silenced genes. These findings provide valuable insights into the design and characterization of PLGA-based nanoparticles for the encapsulation of photosensitizers.

Rectal prolapse is a common disease in childhood and observed mainly at the age of 1-4 years old (95% of cases). If conservative treatment is ineffective, surgical correction of rectal prolapse in children without previous anorectal surgery is performed at the age of over a year. There is a single report on examination of patients aged 4-16 years after surgical correction of anorectal malformations with postoperative rectal prolapse. We present diagnosis and successful surgical treatment of rectal prolapse in an infant who underwent previous perineal proctoplasty for fistulous form of anorectal malformation.

The body composition monitoring using bioimpedance analysis (BIA) is important in assessing the functional state of athletes in sports. Based on changes of body composition, it is possible to optimize the actual dietary intake, as well as successfully organize the training process. The purpose of this research was to conduct a comparative assessment of BIA parameters and rest energy expenditure (REE) in highly trained cross-country skiers and young non-athletes. Material and methods . The members of the national cross-country skiing team from the Komi Republic and Russian Federation (n=30; age - 22.3±2.7 years) were examined. Practically healthy medical students served as a control group for the present study (n=40; age - 20.2±2.4 years). The participants successively passed the following study steps: assessment of the body composition by BIA (ACCUNIQ BC380), REE determination by indirect non-fasting calorimetry and calculation technique. Results . The parameters of total body water, fat-free mass, lean tissue and body cell mass were higher in contrast to the fat mass percentage in the athletes (р<0.001). The calculated REE was lower than measured REE among all the participants. At the same time, the REE calculated by the Ketch-McArdle formula significantly differed between the groups, while no differences were found between the REE calculated by the Harris-Benedict prediction equation. The measured REE were significantly higher by 16% (p<0.001) i n athletes compared to those in the control group. Conclusion . The body composition of athletes was distinguished by a significantly higher amounts of total body water, fat-free mass, skeletal muscle, active cell mass, and lower percentage of fat mass compared to healthy untrained individuals. The results obtained among athletes coincided with the idea that the magnitude of REE is determined by the mass of metabolically active tissues and to a lesser extent depends on the fat mass. Multi-omics methods for analysing postgenomic data have become firmly established in the tools of molecular gerontology only in recent years, since previously there were no comprehensive integrative approaches adequate to the task of calculating biological age. This paper provides an overview of existing papers on multi-omics integrative approaches in calculating the biological age of a human. An analysis of the most common options for integrating methylomic, transcriptomic, proteomic, microbiomic and metabolomic datasets was carried out. We defined (1) concatenation (machine learning), in which models are developed using a concatenated data matrix, formed by combining multiple omics data sets; (2) fusion model approaches that create multiple intermediate submodels for different omics data to then build a final integrated model from the various intermediate submodels; and (3) transformation methods (via artificial intelligence) that first transform each of the single omics data sets into core plots or matrices, and then combine them all into one graph before building an integral complex model. It is unlikely that multi-omics approaches will find application in anti-aging personalized medicine, but they will undoubtedly deepen and expand the understanding of the fundamental processes standing behind the phenomenon of the biological aging clocks.

The review presents key concepts and global developments in the field of artificial intelligence used in pathological anatomy. The work examines two types of artificial intelligence (AI): weak and strong ones. A review of experimental algorithms using both deep machine learning and computer vision technologies to work with WSI images of preparations, diagnose and make a prognosis for various malignant neoplasms is carried out. It has been established that weak artificial intelligence at this stage of development of computer (digital) pathological anatomy shows significantly better results in speeding up and refining diagnostic procedures than strong artificial intelligence having signs of general intelligence. The article also discusses three options for the further development of AI assistants for pathologists based on the technologies of large language models (strong AI) ChatGPT (PathAsst), Flan-PaLM2 and LIMA. As a result of the analysis of the literature, key problems in the field were identified: the equipment of pathology institutions, the lack of experts in training neural networks, the lack of strict criteria for the clinical viability of AI diagnostic technologies.

For the first time, we investigated species composition, phytoplankton community structure, and hydrochemical parameters in the artificial cooling reservoir of a major thermal power plant (TPP) in northeastern Europe located in the Pechora River basin (Komi Republic). Our research, conducted during June and August, revealed a total of 81 species of algae and cyanobacteria, with cyanobacteria predominating. Among these cyanobacteria and microalgae (Bacillariophyta and Chlorophyta), algae that serve as reliable indicators of water quality were identified. The assessment of water quality based on abundance and species composition of indicator phytoplankton species revealed that the waters of the Pechorskoe Reservoir belong to the III class (β-mesosaprobic or moderately polluted). This indicates that water quality is satisfactory, and the reservoir retains the ability to self-purify. The power plant's discharges heat the surface layers, increasing plankton communities' diversity, abundance, and biomass. Such stable warming in the upper layers throughout the season, uncommon for natural water bodies in the north, results in a slight increase in the trophic status of the studied reservoir, supported by hydrochemical analysis. These results provide valuable information about ecosystem functioning under temperature increasing for predicting changes in the phototrophic biota of small northern reservoirs facing the impacts of climate change.

Aim: To evaluate the effect of inclisiran therapy on parameters of lipid metabolism in hospitalized patients with acute ischemic stroke., Material and Methods: A prospective, observational, non-randomized study was performed. The study included 12 patients with acute ischemic stroke prescribed with a combination lipid-lowering therapy with inclisiran (284 mg as a single dose). At 15 days after the start of therapy, changes in blood lipid composition were assessed. For quantitative variables, median, maximum and minimum values were determined. The significance of differences between related samples in quantitative variables was assessed using the Mann-Whitney test., Results: Before the start of combination lipid-lowering therapy, total cholesterol (TC) was 7.33 mmol/l and low-density lipoprotein C (LDL-C) was 5.23 mmol/l. At 15 days after the start of inclisiran therapy, TC significantly decreased by 52.1 % and LDL-C decreased by 71.1 %. The proportion of patients who reached the LDL-C goal was 66.7 %. There were no adverse events considered by the investigators to be related with the therapy., Conclusion: The strategy of early administration of inclisiran (or its combination with a statin) in patients with ischemic stroke allows safe achievement of a significant reduction in LDL-C already in 15 days after the start of therapy.

Plant polyphenols are characterized by a wide range of biological activities, including antioxidant properties, and have a high geroprotective potential. The purpose of this work was to investigate the effect of the extract of rowan berries (Sorbus aucuparia L.) on the lifespan and stress resistance of Drosophila melanogaster with the identification of possible mechanisms of its biological activity. It has been established that an ethanol extract of S. aucuparia berries, the main components of which are rutin and cyanidin-3-rutinoside, has a pronounced antioxidant activity in vitro. At the same time, treatment with rowan berry extract increased the resistance of D. melanogaster males to starvation, but reduced resistance to hyperthermia. In females, the extract reduced resistance to oxidative stress but increased resistance to hyperthermia. The effects of rowan berry extract on longevity depended both on its concentration and on the sex of fruit flies. In response to treatment with rowan berry extract, D. melanogaster males and females showed slight differences in the background level of expression of cellular stress response genes, including heat shock genes (hsp27, hsp68, and hsp83), oxidative stress resistance genes (hif1, nrf2, and sod1), circadian rhythm genes (clk and per), and the longevity gene sirt1, which may explain the differences in the observed effects.

Background: Assessing T-wave symmetry in addition to QT subintervals measurements can provide novel independent data about ventricular repolarization abnormalities linked with arrhythmogenesis. However, the causes of the changes of T-wave symmetry are not completely understood. In silico studies showed that the more symmetrical T-waves were associated with shorter action potential duration (APD) and larger dispersion of ventricular repolarization (DOR). The aim of present simulation was to study the association between T-wave symmetry and action potential (AP) shape., Methods: ECGs were simulated using a cellular automata model shaped as a ventricular wall segment, and two biophysically-detailed models of ventricular AP - the rabbit and the human. The symmetry ratio (SR) was calculated as a T-wave onset-peak to peak-end area ratio. The individual and combined effects of APD, DOR and AP shape on SR were simulated. To study the effect of AP shape, different APs from triangulated to rectangular were simulated., Results: The simulations showed that AP shape along with APD and DOR contributes much to T-wave symmetry. APs with a flat phase 3 (triangulated) produced asymmetrical T-waves (SR ≥ 1.5) in all simulations, except the shortest APD range. The priority of state policy of the Russian Federation is to make conditions for sustainable social economic development of national regions, including the territories of the Arctic Zone. The successful solution of these tasks is possible only if there is sufficient amount of labor resources and at achieving positive dynamics of main demographic processes. The purpose of the study is to establish characteristics of both dynamics of main demographic processes and reproductive health of Northerners as exemplified by the Republic of Komi., Materials and Methods: The retrospective ecological epidemiological study was carried out using reports of the Federal statistical observation. To evaluate demographic processes the values of main demographic parameters were calculated. To analyze dynamics of demographic processes time series of demographic coefficients were constructed and values of growth rate indicators were calculated., Results: The number of male and female population of the Komi Republic in 1990-2023 decreased by 46.5% and 37.1%. The specific weight of people older than able-bodied age increased in males from 4.9% to 14.7% and in females from 15.7% to 31.6%. The number of females of fertile age (16-49 years) in the Komi Republic decreased by 152.602 people (-47.5%) and their general fertility rate decreased by 33.3%. The birth rate in the group of young women aged 15-19 years decreased in 1990-2021 by 80.1%; and of women aged 20-24 years decreased by 60.4%. The frequency of abortions tends to decrease, but significantly exceeds the national average values., Conclusion: The replacement-level fertility is not achieved in the Komi Republic. Taking into account the peculiarities of demographic, social economic processes, it is necessary to develop and to implement regional program of reproductive health improvement.

Histone acetyltransferases of the CBP/p300 family are involved in transcriptional regulation and many biological processes (cell proliferation and differentiation, development, and regulation of the stress response and metabolism). Overexpression and knockdown of the nejire (nej) gene (codes for an ortholog of human CBP/p300 proteins) in various tissues (the fat body, intestine, and nervous system) and at various stages of the life cycle (throughout all developmental stages or in adulthood only) were tested for effect on lifespan in the fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster. The activation of nej exerted a positive or a negative effect on the lifespan, depending on the induction mode and the sex. A 6-15% greater lifespan was observed in females with conditional overexpression of nej in the intestine and constitutive overexpression of nej in the nervous system. A decrease (to 44%) or lack of significant changes in lifespan was detected in all other cases observed. In addition, stress response genes (Sod1, Gadd45, Hsp27, Hsp68, and Hif1) were regulated by nej activation. nej knockdown caused a pronounced negative effect on the D. melanogaster lifespan in most variants of the experiment.

The maintenance of health of residents of the Northern Regions of Russia, including those living in the Arctic zone of the cbountry, is a condition of its advance development in XXI century. The percentage of Russian citizen vaccinated against the new coronavirus infection (COVID-19) does not exceed 50% after beginning of implementation of vaccination program. It can be conditioned by lower level of both of credence of citizen to health care system and health literacy.Purpose of the study is to establish determinants of vaccination of population against COVID-19 in circumpolar region of Russia as exemplified by the Arkhangelsk Oblast.The sociological survey was carried out using the interview technique of patients of medical organizations (n=433) and conditionally healthy residents of the Arkhangelsk Oblast (n=139). To evaluate the level of general health literacy the Russian version of questionnaire HLS19 - Q22-RU was applied. The most of conditionally healthy respondents and consumers of medical services looked for information about methods of prevention and treatment (80.4% and 58.2% correspondingly), had an experience of vaccination against COVID-19 (79% and 56.3% correspondingly). The relative chances of conditionally healthy respondents, women, and respondents having no children and no credence to national health care system to independently look for information related to COVID-19 is higher at 2.94, 2.08, 1.55 and 1.48-1.57 times correspondingly. The relative chances of conditionally healthy respondents having no children in family and assessing one's economic status as "higher than average" to be vaccinated against COVID-19 is higher at 4.02, 1.52, 1.53 times correspondingly. Availability of experience of vaccination against COVID-19 is conditioned by higher level of general health literacy.In the Arkhangelsk Oblast and other circumpolar regions of Russia the programs of increasing loyalty of citizen to measures of population prevention, including vaccine prevention, is to be implemented with consideration of established determinants of of vaccinations against COVID-19.

The phase formation of complex pyrochlores (space group Fd -3 m ) Bi 2 Mg(Zn) 1- x Ni x Ta 2 O 9 was investigated during solid-phase synthesis. It was found that the pyrochlore phase precursor in all cases was α-BiTaO 4 . The pyrochlore phase synthesis reaction proceeds mainly at temperatures above 850-900 °C and consists in the interaction of bismuth orthotantalate with a transition element oxide. The influence of magnesium and zinc on the course of pyrochlore synthesis was revealed. The reaction temperatures of magnesium and nickel (800 and 750 °C, respectively) were determined. The change in the pyrochlore unit cell parameter depending on the synthesis temperature was analyzed for both systems. Nickel-magnesium pyrochlores are characterized by a porous dendrite-like microstructure with a grain size of 0.5-1.0 microns, and the porosity of the samples reaches 20 percent. The calcination temperature does not significantly affect the microstructure of the samples. Prolonged calcination of the preparations leads to the coalescence of grains with the formation of larger particles. Nickel oxide has a sintering effect on ceramics. The studied nickel-zinc pyrochlores are characterized by a low-porous dense microstructure. The porosity of the samples does not exceed 10%. Background: Repolarization prolongation can be the earliest electrophysiological change in ischemia, but its role in arrhythmogenesis is unclear. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the early ischemic action potential duration (APD) prolongation concerning its causes, expression in ECG and association with early ischemic ventricular fibrillation (phase 1A VF). Methods: Coronary occlusion was induced in 18 anesthetized pigs, and standard 12 lead ECG along with epicardial electrograms were recorded. Local activation time (AT), end of repolarization time (RT), and activation-repolarization interval (ARIc) were determined as dV/dt minimum during QRS-complex, dV/dt maximum during T-wave, and rate-corrected RT-AT differences, respectively. Patch-clamp studies were done in enzymatically isolated porcine cardiomyocytes. IK(ATP) activation and Ito1 inhibition were tested as possible causes of the APD change. Results: During the initial period of ischemia, a total of 11 pigs demonstrated maximal ARIc prolongation >10 ms at 1 and/or 2.5 min of occlusion (8 and 6 cases at 1 and 2.5 min, respectively) followed by typical ischemic ARIc shortening. The maximal ARIc across all leads was associated with VF development (OR 1.024 95% CI 1.003-1.046, p = 0.025) and maximal rate-corrected QT interval (QTc) (B 0.562 95% CI 0.346-0.775, p < 0.001) in logistic and linear regression analyses, respectively. Phase 1A VF incidence was associated with maximal QTc at the 2.5 min of occlusion in ROC curve analysis (AUC 0.867, p = 0.028) with optimal cut-off 456 ms (sensitivity 1.00, specificity 0.778). The pigs having maximal QTc at 2.5 min more and less than 450 ms significantly differed in phase 1A VF incidence in Kaplan-Meier analysis (log-rank p = 0.007). In the patch-clamp experiments, 4-aminopyridine did not produce any effects on the APD; however, pinacidil activated IK(ATP) and caused a biphasic change in the APD with initial prolongation and subsequent shortening. Conclusion: The transiently prolonged repolarization during the initial period of acute ischemia was expressed in the prolongation of the maximal QTc interval in the body surface ECG and was associated with phase 1A VF. The frequency of seeking emergency medical care (EC) can be mediated by the characteristics of the patient's social status, his health literacy (HL) but not only by the clinical signs of the disease, health status. The goal of the cross-sectional survey was to identify factors determining the frequency of applying for EC by the young-aged, middle-aged (18-59 years) and elderly (60-74 years) patients of the primary health organizations in the Arkhangelsk Region and the Komi Republic (North-West Russia). Logistic regression (LR) was used to identify factors mediating the fact of applying for EC; zero-inflated negative binomial regression (ZINB) - to identify factors mediating the frequency of appeals. The majority of elderly respondents in the Arkhangelsk Region (72,5%) and the Komi Republic (74,1%) applied for EC at least once during the calendar year; among the young-aged and middle-aged respondents - 45,3% and 52,1% respectively. In the group of young-aged and middle-aged respondents, a higher frequency of appeals for EC is mediated by the age, low self-esteem of the well-being and health status, a chronic disease(s) affecting daily well-being in anamnesis, a low level of HL; in the group of the elderly respondents - by the fact of absence of a spouse, low self-esteem of the well-being, a chronic disease(s) affecting daily well-being in anamnesis, low levels of HL respectively. The obtained results obtained can be used to identify the «risk group» of patients of the primary health organizations who have a higher probability of applying for EC, and to organize additional preventive work with the min primary health organizations.

Blunt abdominal trauma in children accompanied by liver damage occurs in 18-20% of cases. Endovascular embolization is the most common approach for bleeding following central ruptures of liver. Foreign authors published few case reports devoted to successful embolization for central liver ruptures in children. In Russian-language literature, there is one similar report with complicated postoperative period. We present a child with class II blunt liver injury, marginal rupture and central hematoma. The patients underwent suturing of marginal rupture and endovascular embolization without postoperative complications.

Acquired diaphragmatic hernia in children is rare. Even less often, this disease occurs after liver transplantation for biliary atresia. In our case, diaphragmatic hernia was acquired, since the patient underwent repeated chest X-ray examinations including CT prior to liver transplantation. There were no signs of hernia. Clinical manifestations of diaphragmatic hernia were absent throughout 9 months after liver transplantation and manifested acutely with combination of symptoms of respiratory failure and intestinal obstruction. Surgical treatment was performed after emergency consultation with attending doctor.

The health literacy of citizen is determined by a set of demographic and social factors. The deficiency of health literacy of population in the Russian Arctic Zone conditions delay in indicators characterizing population health from their all-Russian values and menaces ability to achieve the targets of the National Strategy of Development of Russian Arctic Zone and Ensuring National Security up to 2035.The purpose of the study is to assess level of health literacy of patients and healthy population residing in circumpolar territories of Russia (Arkhangelsk Oblast).The level of general health literacy in the subgroups of respondents varied in narrow range of 26.9-36.3 points. The most significant difference was established between scores of interactive health literacy (Δ = 4.1 points) and critical health literacy (Δ = 3.4 points), which were higher in group of healthy respondents. The predictors of level of general health literacy are clinical status (value of dependent variables in healthy respondents was on average higher on 0.75-1.73 points), self-assessment of one's positioning in society (every additional point increases average level of general health literacy by 0.47-0.79 points) and age (every additional year of life reduces level of general health literacy by 0.08 - 0.09 points). The results of the study indicate on dependency between clinical status and the level of health literacy, determine social characteristics of risk group with low health literacy as object of additional preventive measures directed at citizen residing in in circumpolar terrotories of The Russian Federation.

Fires are a naturally cyclical factor regulating ecosystems’ function and forming new postfire ecosystems. Peat soils are unique archives that store information about ecological and climatic changes and the history of past fires during the Holocene. The paper presents a reconstruction of the dynamics of fires in the subzone of the middle taiga of Western Siberia in the Holocene. Data on fires were obtained based on the results of a study of the content of macroscopic coal particles and radiocarbon dating. The effect of fires on soil organic matter (SOM) was estimated using 13C NMR spectroscopy and the content of polyaromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). It is shown that throughout the Holocene, the peatlands studied were prone to fires. The conducted analyses show that the maximum content of charcoal particles is observed in the Atlantic (~9100−5800 cal. B.P.) and Subatlantic (~3100 cal. B.P. to the present) periods. The high correlation dependence of the content of coals with the content of PAHs (r = 0.56, p < 0.05) and aromatic structures of SOM (r = 0.61, p < 0.05) in peat horizons is shown, which can characterize these parameters as a reliable marker of pyrogenesis.
