Linear and third-order nonlinear optical absorption coefficients and relative refractive index changes in symmetric and asymmetric double triangular quantum dots are explored theoretically. The dependence of these optical properties on the presence and position of the impurity is explored. After the computation of energies and wave functions in the framework of the effective mass and parabolic band approaches, analytical formulas for linear and nonlinear optical properties are obtained using the compact density matrix technique and the iterative method. Numerical computations for a typical GaAs/AlGaAs material are presented. The results demonstrate that the donor binding energy substantially depends on the position of the impurity and the geometry of the quantum dot and the presence and position of the donor atom has various impacts on the $\pi $ and $\sigma ^{\pm }$ transitions. In addition, the estimated findings clearly reveal that the resonant frequency and the nonlinear contribution to the optical characteristics are different in symmetric and asymmetric systems. It can be inferred that the hydrogenic donor impurity plays a crucial and important function in the electrical and optical properties of the system and can be used to modify the inter-subband transitions and change the corresponding optical sensitivities.

Using the screening potential, we explore probability density properties in interstellar mediums (ISM) in information theory. With the eigenfunctions obtained for the screening potential using the Schrodinger equation, we studied the probability distribution for Shannon entropy, Fisher information, and their complexity measures for the values of n and l. From our numerical result, for Shannon entropy, we observed a more localized probability distribution in position and a decreasing localization in the momentum space as the values of n and l increases. For Fisher information, localization increases in the position space and, consequently, delocalization in their momentum spaces. The uncertainty relations of Shannon entropy and Fisher information were computed and satisfied the relations. For interstellar mediums, our findings align with Heinsberg’s uncertainty principle. Complexity measure was also studied for the interstellar mediums and our findings showed increasing disorder in the position space for increasing values of n and l. Furthermore, we extended the Debye-Hückel length to other regimes particularly, Magnetosphere (D=102) and Intergalactic Mediums (D=105)

In this research, the radial Schr¨odinger equation is solved analytically using the Nikiforov-Uvarov method with the Cornell potential. The energy spectrum and the corresponding wave function are obtained in close form. The effect of Topological Defect on the thermal properties and mass spectra of heavy mesons such as charmonium and bottomonium are studied with the obtained energy spectrum. It is found that the presence of the Topological Defect increases the mass spectra and moves the values close to the experimental data. Our results agreed with the experimental data and are seen to be improved when compared with other works.

The recent development of the Lithium Niobate on Insulator (LNOI) fabrication process has opened a bright future for integrating ultra-compact photonic circuits. Due to its excellent nonlinear properties, as a waveguide material, Lithium Niobate supports nonlinear optical processes including efficient sum frequency generation and second harmonic generation. To enhance these effects, precise control of mode confinement and modal phase matching is required. In this work, we engineer an LNOI waveguide to match the effective refractive indices of the fundamental mode, TE00 at the fundamental wavelength and second-order mode, TE20 at the second harmonic wavelength. As waveguide geometry plays an essential role, optimization of waveguide parameters is crucial for the design of high-performance, feasible devices. Here, we numerically engineer and characterize the influence of rib waveguide geometry parameters including etching depth, $D$ , width, $W$ and sidewall angle, $\theta $ on the phase matching condition. We find that the waveguide phase matching condition is most susceptible to variations in the sidewall angle. For the optimized parameter values of $\{D,\theta \} = \{450\,\mathrm {nm}, 10^{o}\}$ , the phase-matching wavelength tunability is achieved through the waveguide width control.

This paper introduces a new hybrid system for high-bandwidth and high-transmission-capacity communication. The system integrates a multi-mode fiber (MMF) cable with free space optics (FSO) using orbital angular momentum (OAM) multiplexing. The proposed system uses a single wavelength to simultaneously transmit 40 Gb/s data on four distinct OAM beams ((LG0,0, LG0,17, LG0,40, and LG0,75)) with a symmetric circular shape. The performance of the system was evaluated with a fixed MMF length of 100 m and varying FSO ranges, according to extreme climate changes such as rain and fog, and atmospheric turbulences. The results indicate that the suggested system is capable of transmit up to 1250 m (100 m MMF length + 1150 m FSO range) under clear weather (CW) and weak turbulence (WT), with a minimum transmission distance of 440 m (100 m MMF length + 340 m FSO range) under heavy fog (HF). The performance of the system was also demonstrated based on actual meteorological data for two different cities, Alexandria, Egypt and Chandigarh, India, with different visibility ranges and geographical locations. Since Alexandria has a longer visibility range than Chandigarh, our proposed model could spread over a larger area than it could be in Chandigarh. The obtained ranges were within an acceptable bit error rate (BER) of less than 10−9. The system’s maximum range was 1200 m for Alexandria and 1100 m for Chandigarh. The proposed model can be suggested for use in next generation (NG) passive optical networks (PON) for supporting symmetric 40 Gb/s data.

In this study, the solutions of the Schrodinger equation (SE) with modified Hylleraas potential in arbitrary dimensions was obtained using the asymptotic iteration method (AIM) to obtain the energy and wave functions, respectively. The energy equation was used to obtain the thermal properties of this system. The effect of the potential parameters and dimensions on the energy spectra and thermal properties was scrutinized thoroughly. It was found that the aforementioned affects the thermal properties and energy spectra, respectively. In addition, we also computed the numerical energy spectra of the MHP for the first time and discussed it in detail. The results of our study can be applied to molecular physics, chemical physics, etc.

In this paper, we investigate the performance of spectral amplitude coding optical code division multiple access (SAC OCDMA) systems under the effect of beat noise and turbulence. Three different multi-laser source configurations are considered in this analysis: shared multi-laser, separate multi-laser, and carefully controlled center frequency separate multi-laser. We demonstrate through Monte Carlo simulation that the gamma–gamma probability density function (pdf) cannot adequately approximate the measured intensity of overlapping lasers and that an empirical pdf is required. Results also show it is possible to achieve error-free transmission at a symmetrical data rate of 10 Gbps for all active users when only beat noise is taken into account by precisely controlling the center frequencies. However, only 30% of the active users can be supported when both beat noise and turbulence are considered.

In recent years, optical wireless communication has promised several benefits over radio frequency communication in atmospheric, deep space and underwater communications. Satellite-to-underwater communication technology can be applied to commercial, naval, scientific and engineering operations because of its high data rate, high security, long-reach and low cost. In this paper, a high-speed, long-reach integrated free space optics (FSO)-passive optical network (PON) system using non-orthogonal multiple access visible light communication (NOMA-VLC) is proposed. It poses a 10/2.5 Gbps per channel bit rate for satellite-to-underwater applications. Numerically calculated results provide the splitter power budget of −35 dBm in the downlink and −32 dBm in the uplink. Additionally, a receiver sensitivity of 23 dB in the downlink and 10 dB in the uplink direction can be obtained in the system using a modified new zero cross-correlation (MNZCC) code under clear environment conditions. Again, the simulative analyses indicate that the suggested system supports 290 underwater devices successfully and offers a high 10 dBm signal-to-noise ratio over 10 km FSO, 100 km fiber and 5 m VLC range. Moreover, it provides a signal-to-noise ratio of 39 dB, with −9 dBm received optical power at 300 fields of view under fiber-wireless channels’ impairments. We argue that the suggested system is a symmetric system adapted to different link distances and which offers improved receiver sensitivity and high received optical power at a 10−9 bit error rate (BER). The comparative analysis shows the advantages of the suggested system over previously reported works.

OCDMA is an optical access technology that has a lot of potential because it can be asynchronously accessed and provides a higher level of security. The authors presented a new DW family code, a flexible double weight (FDW) code, and a novel polarization encoding approach in this paper. The new code is applicable to both odd- and even-weighted codes. The novel polarization encoding approach may be used for numerous wavelengths that overlap. Based on analytic principles, a comparison of two widely used spectrum amplitude-coding SAC-based OCDMA codes, notably modified frequency hopping (MFH), Hadamard, and the double weight (DW) code family. The comparison was based on observing the bit error rate (BER) in each situation. The DW code has a fixed weight of two. The FDW code was introduced to reduce phase-induced intensity noise and multiple access interference (MAI) in transmission networks. FDW codes are versions of the DW code family with weights larger than two. The FDW code outperforms the Hadamard, MFH, DW, modified double weight (MDW), and enhanced double weight (EDW) algorithms. FDW has the capacity to support up to 220 concurrent users. With the new polarization encoding technology, the FDW code can travel up to 60 km at a bit rate of 2.5 Gb/s and 40 km for a 10 Gb/s bit rate.

A Substitution box (S-box) is an important component used in symmetric key cryptosystems to satisfy Shannon’s property on confusion. As the only nonlinear operation, the S-box must be cryptographically strong to thwart any cryptanalysis tools on cryptosystems. Generally, the S-boxes can be constructed using any of the following approaches: the random search approach, heuristic/evolutionary approach or mathematical approach. However, the current S-box construction has some drawbacks, such as low cryptographic properties for the random search approach and the fact that it is hard to develop mathematical functions that can be used to construct a cryptographically strong S-box. In this paper, we explore the non-permutation function that was generated from the binomial operation of the power function to construct a cryptographically strong S-box. By adopting the method called the Redundancy Removal Algorithm, we propose some enhancement in the algorithm such that the desired result can be obtained. The analytical results of our experiment indicate that all criteria such as bijective, nonlinearity, differential uniformity, algebraic degree and linear approximation are found to hold in the obtained S-boxes. Our proposed S-box also surpassed several bijective S-boxes available in the literature in terms of cryptographic properties.

The screened modified Kratzer potential (SMKP) model is utilized to scrutinize the impacts of an applied magnetic field (MF) on the binding energies and linear and nonlinear optical properties spherical GaAs quantum dot with donor impurity (DI). To accomplish this goal, we have used the diagonalization method to numerically solve the Schrödinger equation under the effective mass approximation for obtaining the electron energy levels and related electronic wave functions. The expressions used for evaluating linear, third-order nonlinear, and total optical absorption coefficients and relative refractive index changes were previously derived within the compact density matrix method. It has been shown here that the MF and DI impacts the characteristics of the absorption coefficients and the refractive index changes. This study’s results will find application in optoelectronics and related areas.

The nonrelativistic treatment of the Varshni–Shukla potential (V–SP) in the presence of magnetic and Aharanov–Bohm fields is carried out using the asymptotic iteration method (AIM). The energy equation and wave function are derived analytically. The energy levels are summed to obtain the partition function, which is employed to derive the expressions for the thermomagnetic properties of the V–SP. These properties are analyzed extensively using graphical representations. It is observed that in the various settings of the analysis, the system shows a diamagnetic characteristic, and the specific heat capacity behavior agrees with the recognized Dulong–Petit law, although some slight anomaly is observed. This irregular behavior could be attributed to a Schottky anomaly. Our findings will be valuable in a variety of fields of physics, including chemical, molecular and condensed matter physics, where our derived models could be applied to study other diatomic molecules and quantum dots, respectively.

The global quantum information-theoretical analysis of the class of Yukawa potential (CYP) in the presence of magnetic and Aharonov–Bohm (AB) fields has been examined both analytically and numerically in this research piece. The energy equation and wave function for the CYP are obtained by solving the Schrodinger equation in the presence of external magnetic and AB fields using the functional analysis technique. The probability density is used to calculate the Tsallis, Rényi, and Onicescu information energy entropies numerically. The influence of the screening parameter (β), magnetic (B→), and AB (ξ) fields on the global information-theoretical measurements for the CYP is explored. Atomic and molecular physics, quantum chemistry, and physics are specific areas where these research findings will find application.

Birefringence, quantified as the maximum effective index difference of two orthogonally polarized modes, is one of the key characteristics of Lithium Niobate on Insulator (LNOI) waveguide devices. As LNOI optical properties strongly depend on the polarization of the propagating light beam, achieving the zero‐birefringence condition (ZBC) is highly desired. In this work, a rib LNOI waveguide is designed, and the influence of geometrical dimensions on the birefringence is characterized. From the result, the slab's height is found to be the dominant geometrical factor that significantly contributes to the birefringence, with an optimum slab's height found at 50 nm. For this optimized value, the influence of width and wavelength on birefringence are characterized. The analysis is extended to investigate the properties of group indices that can result in the temporal walk‐off phenomenon. This phenomenon can significantly impact the performance of single‐photon devices, as it can cause a polarization mismatch between the incident photon and the polarization properties of the medium, resulting in reduced efficiency of devices such as single‐photon detectors. In the analysis, the zero birefringence and walk‐off are achieved at narrow waveguide width, 푤 of 250 nm and wavelength, λ${\mathrm{\lambda }}$ = 1500 nm, which is within the telecommunication region band.
