Does playing Chess improve reading, writing, speaking, and listening skill, the components of Linguistic Intelligence? The ability to manipulate syntax, phonetics, pragmatics, and semantics of the language is defined as Linguistic Intelligence. The experimental group underwent Chess training once a week, through the year (around 25 to 30 sessions), as part of co-curricular school activity. ANCOVA showed significant gains in Verbal Reasoning (an integral part of Linguistic Intelligence) for the experimental group than the control group who were involved in other extra-curricular activities. The study used pretest–posttest with control group design with WISC IV India and Binet Kamat Test of Intelligence for the assessment. 70 children in the experimental group and 81 children in the control group were randomly selected from four schools of both genders in the age group of 5 -16. Results indicate enhanced Linguistic Intelligence, which could also lead to improved communication, critical and analytical skills.

Harary and Melter introduced the concept of resolving sets in graphs. Slater stated the term locating set and the minimum resolving set as reference sets. Chartrand mentioned the locating set as a resolving set and the minimum cardinality of a resolving set as metric dimension or simply dimension in later stage. Several types of resolving sets like connected resolving sets, independent resolving sets, acyclic resolving sets, etc. have been discussed in the past. Graphs considered here are simple, finite and undirected. A graph is denoted by G and its vertex set by V (G) and edge set by E (G). Many researchers were attracted by two concepts introduced in [P. J. Slater, Domination and location in acyclic graphs, Networks17 (1987) 55–64; P. J. Slater, Dominating and reference sets in graphs, J. Math. Phys. Sci. 22 (1988) 445–455; Y. Caro, A. Hansberg and M. Henning, Fair domination in graphs, Discrete Math. 312 (2012) 2905–2914]. One is locating domination and the other is fair domination. A subset D of V (G) is called a locating dominating set of G if for any u , v ∈ V − D , N (u) ∩ D ≠ N (v) ∩ D and both sets are non-empty. D is called a fair dominating set of G for any u , v ∈ D , | N (u) ∩ D | = | N (v) ∩ D | > 0. In this paper, both properties are combined and locating fair domination is studied. Background: The present germplasm of cluster bean lack the needed natural variability for developing early maturing short statured lines. Therefore, an attempt was made to study the magnitude of heritable variability stimulated through induced mutation in M3 generation. Methods: M3 generation seeds of cluster bean variety MDU1 treated with gamma rays, electron beam and combination of gamma ray with EMS were used in the present investigation. The biometric observations were recorded on ten selected M3 plants from each family of every treatments for six traits viz., plant height, days to first flowering, number of clusters per plant, number of pods per plant, pod length and pod yield per plant. The same method was followed for recording observations on untreated parental materials also. Result: Studies on the variability parameters indicated that the phenotypic variance, genotypic variance, heritability and genetic advance were higher in combination treatment for all the traits. The shortest mutant and the earliest flowering (3M11) was observed in combination of 100 Gy of gamma ray+20 mM EMS. Mutant for the highest number of clusters (3M3) was observed in combination treatment of 300 Gy gamma ray with 20 mM EMS. The mutants for the highest number of pods per plant (3M1 and 3M2) and the highest pod yield (3M1) were identified at 400 Gy of gamma ray treatment. Let P = {V1, V2, · · ·, Vk} be a partition of V (H) where each Vi, 1 = i = k is an equivalence set of H. The partition P is called a colourful domination equivalence partition if the set D = {u1, u2, · · ·, uk} where ui, 1 = i = k are suitably chosen vertices one each from Vi, 1 = i = k is a dominating set. The trivial partition where every partite set is a singleton is an example of a colourful domination equivalence partition. The minimum cardinality of such a partition is called colourful domination equivalence partition number of G and is denoted by eq (H). A subset S = {u1, u2, · · ·, ur} of V (H) is called a resolving set of H if for any v in V (H), the code of v with respect to S namely (d(v, u1), · · ·, d(v, ur)) (denoted by cS(v)) is distinct for distinct v where d(v, ui) denotes the distance between v and ui. Since u1, · · ·, ur are evidently resolved by S, it is enough if vertices in V - S are resolved by S. A proper colour partition P is said to be a colour resolving colour partition if some set of vertices, one each from each colour class is a revolving set. An alternative method for determining the orientational distribution function and the order parameter from the electric field-induced birefringence measurements of a chiral liquid crystal compound in its Smectic A* is being introduced. A chiral mesogen based on a 5-phenyl-pyrimidine benzoate core terminated by a trisiloxane group on one side and the chiral alkyloxy chain on its opposite side is designed and synthesized to exhibit the "de Vries" smectic characteristics. The compound exhibits first order Smectic A*–Smectic C* phase transition, evidenced by the results of differential scanning calorimetry. The material is being investigated by electro-optical experiment in its smectic phases. We present a model that incorporates the generalised Langevin-Debye model which includes the Maier-Saupe effective mean-field potential term in order to explain the change in birefringence with the electric field. A good agreement between the experimental results and the predictions from the model leads to the determination of the molecular orientational distribution function in Smectic A phase. Furthermore, the temperature dependency of the Saupe orientational order parameter ⟨P2⟩ is obtained using the parameters of the model. Based on the experimental and theoretical results, we show that de Vries Smectic A* phase exhibits a broad volcano-like tilt angle distribution with the two maxima occurring at finite tilt angles closer to the Smectic A*–Smectic C* transition temperature, and a sugarloaf-like distribution occurs in the tilt for temperatures close to the Isotropic—Smectic A* phase transition.
