The present bachelor thesis entitled "The Relationship between the Russian Federation and NATO" aims to describe and analyse the development and the dialogue between the Russian Federation and NATO. Emphasis is placed on analysis of key events in which both actors were involved. The development of mutual relations between NATO and the Soviet Union during the Cold War and the subsequent process of forming relationship between NATO and the Russian Federation are analyzed in detail. Special attention is paid to the characteristics of NATO and the Warsaw Pact, especially their emergence, structure, strategy, and objectives. The thesis also touches on all strategic concepts of NATO and the Military Doctrine of the Russian Federation since the turn of the millennium. Afterwards, benefits of countries' membership in the political-military formation are evaluated in theoretical and practical perspectives.
