We prove that the dual fine Selmer group of an abelian variety over the unramified $\mathbb{Z}_{p}$-extension of a function field is finitely generated over $\mathbb{Z}_{p}$. We give several formulas for how Iwasawa $\mu$-invariants of abelian varieties over unramified $\mathbb{Z}_{p}$-extensions of function fields change under isogeny. These are analogues of Schneider's formula in the number field setting. We first prove Bosch-L\"utkebohmert-Raynaud's conjectures on existence of global N\'eron models of not necessarily semi-abelian algebraic groups in the perfect residue fields case. We then give a counterexample to the existence in the imperfect residue fields case. Finally, as a complement to the conjectures, we classify unirational wound unipotent groups "up to relative perfection", again in the perfect residue fields case. 11. Chai's conjectures on base change conductors

Abstract

The base change conductor is an invariant introduced by Chai which measures the failure of a semiabelian variety to have semiabelian reduction. We investigate the behaviour of this invariant in short exact sequences, as well as under duality and isogeny. Our results imply Chai's conjecture on the additivity of the base change conductor in short exact sequences, while also showing that a proposed generalisation of this conjecture fails. We use similar methods to show that the base change conductor is invariant under duality of Abelian varieties in equal positive characteristic (answering a question of Chai), as well as giving a new short proof of a formula due to Chai, Yu, and de Shalit which expresses the base change conductor of a torus in terms of its (rational) cocharacter module., Comment: 43 pages

We study Hadamard variation of eigenvalues of Laplacian with respect to general domain perturbations. We show their existence up to the second order rigorously and characterize the derivatives, using associated eigenvalue problems in finite dimensional spaces. Then smooth rearrangement of multiple eigenvalues is explicitly given. Abstract

We have studied the magnetic properties of pressure-induced ferromagnet Ca2RuO4 to reveal the uniqueness of the 4d-electron ferromagnetism in the quasi-two-dimensional conductor. The magnetic parameters have been estimated from the paramagnetic susceptibility and the magnetisation process under pressure up to 2 GPa. The parameters can well be interpreted on the basis of the self-consistent renormalization theory of spin fluctuation for 3D-itinerant ferromagnet. Nevertheless, the metallic Ca2RuO4 shows quite strong anisotropy not only in the conductivity but also in the magnetisation process. Such the strong anisotropy is rare for an itinerant ferromagnet and is a unique characteristic of the 4d electron system Ca2RuO4., Comment: JPS Conf. Proc.(LT29)

Abstract

By converting physical forces into electrical signals or triggering intracellular cascades, stretch-activated ion channels allow the cell to respond to osmotic and mechanical stress. Knowledge of the pathophysiological mechanisms underlying associations of stretch-activated ion channels with human disease is limited. Here, we describe 17 unrelated individuals with severe early-onset developmental and epileptic encephalopathy (DEE), intellectual disability, and severe motor and cortical visual impairment associated with progressive neurodegenerative brain changes carrying ten distinct heterozygous variants of TMEM63B, encoding for a highly conserved stretch-activated ion channel. The variants occurred de novo in 16/17 individuals for whom parental DNA was available and either missense, including the recurrent p.Val44Met in 7/17 individuals, or in-frame, all affecting conserved residues located in transmembrane regions of the protein. In 12 individuals, hematological abnormalities co-occurred, such as macrocytosis and hemolysis, requiring blood transfusions in some. We modeled six variants (p.Val44Met, p.Arg433His, p.Thr481Asn, p.Gly580Ser, p.Arg660Thr, and p.Phe697Leu), each affecting a distinct transmembrane domain of the channel, in transfected Neuro2a cells and demonstrated inward leak cation currents across the mutated channel even in isotonic conditions, while the response to hypo-osmotic challenge was impaired, as were the Ca2+ transients generated under hypo-osmotic stimulation. Ectopic expression of the p.Val44Met and p.Gly580Cys variants in Drosophila resulted in early death. TMEM63B-associated DEE represents a recognizable clinicopathological entity in which altered cation conductivity results in a severe neurological phenotype with progressive brain damage and early-onset epilepsy associated with hematological abnormalities in most individuals.

In SGA 2, Grothendieck conjectures that the \'etale fundamental group of the punctured spectrum of a complete noetherian local domain of dimension at least two with algebraically closed residue field is topologically finitely generated. In this paper, we prove a weaker statement, namely that the maximal pro-nilpotent quotient of the fundamental group is topologically finitely generated. Abstract

Broccoli is a typical wet-sensitive vegetable. Precipitation levels in Japan have been unusually high recently, so the wet tolerance of broccoli is of great interest to farmers. The purpose of this study is to gather basic information to help with broccoli cultivation in unusually wet conditions by investigating the varying responses of different cultivars to wet conditions. In two-year pot experiments, the early stage of broccoli growth was compared using on cultivars that exhibit unique characteristics in terms of tolerance to wet conditions, and differences in yield were also confirmed during the harvest season in a field experiment. Broccoli plants subjected to three days of waterlogging treatment exhibited wilting, yellowing and reduced biomass. Significant interactions between treatment and cultivar were also detected for biomass, water content, and photosynthetic ability. The ‘Shigemori’ cultivar showed less susceptibility to wet damage compared to the other cultivars. The trend could be observed in the head yield in the field experiment. The unique cultivars shown in this study may be helpful in broccoli cultivation and may be suitable for use as parent material in breeding. Furthermore, a short-term pot experiment can help evaluate broccoli wet tolerance during the early growth.

Abstract

Adeno-associated virus (AAV)-mediated gene therapy may provide durable protection from bleeding events and reduce treatment burden for people with hemophilia A (HA). However, pre-existing immunity against AAV may limit transduction efficiency and hence treatment success. Global data on the prevalence of AAV serotypes are limited. In this global, prospective, noninterventional study, we determined the prevalence of pre-existing immunity against AAV2, AAV5, AAV6, AAV8, and AAVrh10 among people ≥12 years of age with HA and residual FVIII levels ≤2 IU/dL. Antibodies against each serotype were detected using validated, electrochemiluminescent-based enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays. To evaluate changes in antibody titers over time, 20% of participants were retested at 3 and 6 months. In total, 546 participants with HA were enrolled at 19 sites in 9 countries. Mean (standard deviation) age at enrollment was 36.0 (14.87) years, including 12.5% younger than 18 years, and 20.0% 50 years of age and older. On day 1, global seroprevalence was 58.5% for AAV2, 34.8% for AAV5, 48.7% for AAV6, 45.6% for AAV8, and 46.0% for AAVrh10. Considerable geographic variability was observed in the prevalence of pre-existing antibodies against each serotype, but AAV5 consistently had the lowest seroprevalence across the countries studied. AAV5 seropositivity rates were 51.8% in South Africa (n = 56), 46.2% in Russia (n = 91), 40% in Italy (n = 20), 37.2% in France (n = 86), 26.8% in the United States (n = 71), 26.9% in Brazil (n = 26), 28.1% in Germany (n = 89), 29.8% in Japan (n = 84), and 5.9% in the United Kingdom (n = 17). For all serotypes, seropositivity tended to increase with age. Serostatus and antibody titer were generally stable over the 6-month sampling period. As clinical trials of AAV-mediated gene therapies progress, data on the natural prevalence of antibodies against various AAV serotypes may become increasingly important.
