Abstract: A dedicated isochronous storage ring, named the Rare-RI Ring, was constructed at the RI Beam Factory of RIKEN, aiming at precision mass measurements of nuclei located in uncharted territories of the nuclear chart. The Rare-RI Ring employs the isochronous mass spectrometry technique with the goal to achieve a relative mass precision of $10^{-6}$ within a measurement time of less than 1 ms. The performance of the facility was demonstrated through mass measurements of neutron-rich nuclei with well-known masses. Velocity or magnetic rigidity is measured for every particle prior to its injection into the ring, wherein its revolution time is accurately determined. The latter quantity is used to determine the mass of the particle, while the former one is needed for non-isochronicity corrections. Mass precisions on the order of $10^{-5}$ were achieved in the first commissioning, which demonstrates that Rare-RI Ring is a powerful tool for mass spectrometry of short-lived nuclei.

Abstract: We report the observation of a coalescing compact binary with component masses $2.5\text{-}4.5~M_\odot$ and $1.2\text{-}2.0~M_\odot$ (all measurements quoted at the 90% credible level). The gravitational-wave signal GW230529_181500 was observed during the fourth observing run of the LIGO-Virgo-KAGRA detector network on 2023 May 29 by the LIGO Livingston Observatory. The primary component of the source has a mass less than $5~M_\odot$ at 99% credibility. We cannot definitively determine from gravitational-wave data alone whether either component of the source is a neutron star or a black hole. However, given existing estimates of the maximum neutron star mass, we find the most probable interpretation of the source to be the coalescence of a neutron star with a black hole that has a mass between the most massive neutron stars and the least massive black holes observed in the Galaxy. We provisionally estimate a merger rate density of $55^{+127}_{-47}~\text{Gpc}^{-3}\,\text{yr}^{-1}$ for compact binary coalescences with properties similar to the source of GW230529_181500; assuming that the source is a neutron star-black hole merger, GW230529_181500-like sources constitute about 60% of the total merger rate inferred for neutron star-black hole coalescences. Abstract: We conducted measurements of $K^- + {^3{\rm He}} \to \pi \!Y \!N + N'$ reactions using a $1~{\rm GeV}/c$ $K^-$-beam, with the objective of understanding the broad decay width of $\bar{K} \!N \!N$ (approximately twice as broad as that of $\Lambda(1405)$ considered to be the $\bar{K} \!N$ quasi-bound state). We successfully reproduced distributions of the $\pi \! Y \! N$ invariant mass and momentum transfer for $\pi \! Y \! N$ using model fitting functions for $\bar{K} \!N \!N$ formation and quasi-free $\bar{K}$ absorption (${\rm QF}_{\bar{K}-{\rm abs}}$) processes. The model can describe the experimental data quite well, and four $\bar{K} \! N \! N \to \pi \! Y \! N $ cross-sections were obtained. The results indicate that mesonic decay is the dominant decay branch of $\bar{K} \! N \! N$. The results also suggest that $\Gamma_{\pi \Lambda N} \sim \Gamma_{\pi \Sigma N}$, which indicates that the $I_{\bar{K} \! N}=1$ absorption channel, in addition to the $I_{\bar{K} \! N}=0$ absorption channel, substantially contribute to the $\bar{K} \! N \! N$ decay, making the $\bar{K} \! N \! N$ state approximately twice as unstable as $\Lambda$(1405).

5. Diel changes of food sources and their contributions to nutrition of Orientomysis mitsukurii in a sandy shore environment

Abstract: Diel changes in feeding habits and the relative contributions of daytime and nighttime diets to the nutrition of the mysid Orientomysis mitsukurii in a sandy shore environment were determined by field sampling and additional laboratory experiments. O. mitsukurii was distributed just above the bottom during the daytime but a subpopulation swam up into the water column at night. Nighttime swimming activity was prevalent in small individuals but progressively decreased at larger body sizes, while the gut pigment contents of all mysid size classes consistently increased at night. Stomach content analysis revealed that O. mitsukurii individuals of all size groups ingested sedimented particulate organic matter (POM) containing large quantities of clay minerals during the daytime, whereas they mainly foraged on planktonic diatoms in the water column at night. Estimated in situ algal ingestion rates at night accounted for approximately 80-95% of the daily carbon assimilation. O. mitsukurii also exhibited high efficiency in grazing on planktonic diatoms in laboratory experiments. Conversely, daytime sedimented POM carbon accounted for only a minor proportion (5-20%) of the daily carbon assimilation. The utilisation patterns of the different food sources were confirmed by carbon and nitrogen stable isotopic signatures in the benthic community. Our results suggest that efficient utilisation of primary producers, such as planktonic diatoms, by O. mitsukurii is beneficial for maintaining the speciesí high abundance from an ecological transfer efficiency perspective, and that sedimented POM is an alternative food source for securing the basic energy required for their survival, particularly when phytoplankton availability is low.

Abstract: Surgical robotics is a rising field in medical technology and advanced robotics. Robot assisted surgery, or robotic surgery, allows surgeons to perform complicated surgical tasks with more precision, automation, and flexibility than is possible for traditional surgical approaches. The main type of robot assisted surgery is minimally invasive surgery, which could be automated and result in a faster healing time for the patient. The surgical robot we are particularly interested in is the da Vinci surgical system, which is developed and manufactured by Intuitive Surgical. In the current iteration of the system, the endoscopic camera arm on the da Vinci robot has to be manually controlled and calibrated by the surgeon during a surgical task, which interrupts the flow of the operation. Abstract: The large-scale shell-model calculations have been performed for the neutron-rich nuclei in the south region of $^{208}$Pb in the nuclear chart. The weak interaction properties, such as the $\log ft$, average shape factor values, half-lives, and neutron emission probabilities, are calculated for these neutron-rich nuclei with the help of newly developed effective interaction [Yuan et al., Phys. Rev. C 106, 044314 (2022)] for $^{208}$Pb region. These calculations have been performed without truncation for a particular model space, however, for some nuclei, a certain truncation has been employed and particle-hole excitations are included in the case of core-breaking nuclei. An extensive comparison with the experimental data has been made and spin parities of several states have been proposed. However, colistin resistance mediated by chromosomal mutations or plasmid-linked mobilized colistin resistance (mcr) genes has emerged.Methods: Thirteen mcr-positive Aeromonas species isolated from water samples collected in Eastern Ghana were analyzed using whole-genome sequencing (WGS). Antimicrobial susceptibility was tested using the broth microdilution method. Resistome analysis was performed in silico using a web-based platform.Results: The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of colistin for all except three isolates was > 4 μg/mL. Nine new sequence types were identified and whole-genome analysis revealed that the isolates harbored genes (mcr-3-related genes) that code for Lipid A phosphoethanolamine transferases on their chromosomes. BLAST analysis indicated that the amino acid sequences of the mcr-3-related genes detected varied from those previously reported and shared 79.04– 99.86% nucleotide sequence identity with publicly available mcr-3 variants and mcr-3-related phosphoethanolamine transferases. Analysis of the genetic context of mcr-3-related genes revealed that the genetic environment surrounding mcr-3-related genes was diverse among the different species of Aeromonas but conserved among isolates of the same species. Machine learning (ML) has rapidly developed and may outperform traditional models in predicting PHLF in patients who have undergone hepatectomy. This study aimed to predict PHLF using ML and compare its performance with that of traditional scoring systems.Methods: The clinicopathological data of 334 patients who underwent liver resection were retrospectively collected. The Pycaret library, a simple, open-source machine learning library, was used to compare multiple classification models for PHLF prediction. The predictive performance of 15 ML algorithms was compared using the mean area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUROC) and accuracy, and the best-fit model was selected among 15 ML algorithms. Next, the predictive performance of the selected ML-PHLF model was compared with that of routine scoring systems, the albumin-bilirubin score (ALBI) and the fibrosis-4 (FIB-4) index, using AUROC.Results: The best model was extreme gradient boosting (accuracy:93.1%; AUROC:0.863) among the 15 ML algorithms. As compared with ALBI and FIB-4, the ML PHLF model had higher AUROC for predicting PHLF.Conclusion: The novel ML model for predicting PHLF outperformed routine scoring systems.Keywords: machine learning, posthepatectomy liver failure, liver cancer

Abstract: We constructed a large-scale electromagnetic calorimeter prototype as a part of the Forward Calorimeter upgrade project (FoCal) for the ALICE experiment at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). The prototype, also known as ``Mini FoCal'', consists of 20 layers of silicon pad sensors and tungsten alloy plates with printed circuit boards and readout electronics. The constructed detector was tested at the test beam facility of the Super Proton Synchrotron (SPS) at CERN. We obtain an energy resolution of about 4.3% for electron beams at both 150 and 250 GeV/$c$, which is consistent with realistic detector response simulations. Longitudinal profiles of electromagnetic shower were also measured and found to agree with the simulations. The same prototype detector was installed in the ALICE experimental area about 7.5m away from the interaction point. It was used to measure inclusive electromagnetic cluster energy distributions and neutral-pion candidate invariant mass distributions for pseudo-rapidity of $\eta$=3.7-4.5 in proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 13 TeV at LHC. 12. Simulations of Protoplanetary Disk Dispersal: Stellar Mass Dependence of the Disk Lifetime

Abstract: Recent infrared and submillimeter observations suggest that the protoplanetary disk lifetime depends on the central stellar mass. The disk dispersal is thought to be driven by viscous accretion, magneto-hydrodynamics (MHD) winds, and photoevaporation by the central star. We perform a set of one-dimensional simulations of long-term disk evolution that include all the three processes. We vary the stellar mass in the range of 0.5-7M$_{\odot}$, and study the mass dependence of the disk evolution. We show that a significant fraction of the disk gas is lost by MHD winds in the early stage, but the later disk evolution is mainly governed by photoevaporation. The disk radius decreases as photoevaporation clears out the gas in the outer disk efficiently. The qualitative evolutionary trends of the disk mass are remarkably similar for the wide range of the central stellar mass we consider, and the time evolution of the disk mass can be well fitted by a simple function. The dispersal time is approximately ten million years for low mass stars with weak mass dependence, but gets as short as two million years around a 7M$_{\odot}$ star. In the latter case, a prominent inner hole is formed by the combined effect of accretion and MHD winds within about one million years. The strength of the MHD wind and viscous accretion controls the overall mass-loss rate, but does not alter the dependence of the dispersal timescale on the central stellar mass., Comment: 14 pages, 10 figures, 1 table

Abstract: The Kamioka Gravitational wave detector (KAGRA) cryogenic gravitational-wave observatory has commenced joint observations with the worldwide gravitational wave detector network. Precise calibration of the detector response is essential for accurately estimating parameters of gravitational wave sources. A photon calibrator is a crucial calibration tool used in laser interferometer gravitational-wave observatory, Virgo, and KAGRA, and it was utilized in joint observation 3 with GEO600 in Germany in April 2020. In this paper, KAGRA implemented three key enhancements: a high-power laser, a power stabilization system, and remote beam position control. KAGRA employs a 20 W laser divided into two beams that are injected onto the mirror surface. By utilizing a high-power laser, the response of the detector at kHz frequencies can be calibrated. To independently control the power of each laser beam, an optical follower servo was installed for power stabilization. The optical path of the photon calibrator beam positions was controlled using pico-motors, allowing for the characterization of the detector rotation response. Additionally, a telephoto camera and quadrant photodetectors were installed to monitor beam positions, and beam position control was implemented to optimize the mirror response. In this paper, we discuss the statistical errors associated with the measurement of relative power noise. We also address systematic errors related to the power calibration model of the photon calibrator and the simulation of elastic deformation effects using finite element analysis. Abstract: The low-lying structure of $^{15}$C has been investigated via the neutron-removal $^{16}$C$(d,t)$ reaction. Along with bound neutron sd-shell hole states, unbound p-shell hole states have been firmly confirmed. The excitation energies and the deduced spectroscopic factors of the cross-shell states are an important measure of the $[(p)^{-1}(sd)^{2}]$ neutron configurations in $^{15}$C. Our results show a very good agreement with shell-model calculations using the SFO-tls interaction for $^{15}$C. However, a modification of the $p$-$sd$ and $sd$-$sd$ monopole terms was applied in order to reproduce the $N=9$ isotone $^{17}$O. In addition, the excitation energies and spectroscopic factors have been compared to the first calculations of $^{15}$C with the $ab~ initio$ self-consistent Green's function method employing the NNLO$_{sat}$ interaction. The results show the sensitivity to the size of the $N=8$ shell gap and highlight the need of going beyond the current truncation scheme in the theory.

Pr-AKI can arise from various obstetric complications, such as hyperemesis gravidarum, septic abortion, hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, pyelonephritis, and antiphospholipid antibody syndrome. Therefore, early diagnosis and appropriate intervention, including the identification of the underlying etiology, are important to effectively manage Pr-AKI. Therefore, we report a case of Pr-AKI after early miscarriage in a patient without hyperemesis gravidarum or septic abortion whose renal function gradually improved postoperatively for miscarriage.Case Presentation: A 34-year-old primigravid woman was referred to us for perinatal management at 6 weeks of gestation. Unfortunately, she was diagnosed with miscarriage 1 week later. The patient had no history of hyperemesis gravidarum or septic abortion; however, she developed oliguria, and her serum creatinine and blood urea nitrogen levels were abnormally increased. Consequently, she underwent a renal biopsy to evaluate renal dysfunction, which indicated tubulointerstitial damage. The patient also underwent manual vacuum aspiration for a miscarriage. Postoperatively, her urine output increased, and her renal function improved. She was determined to have experienced Pr-AKI due to her miscarriage.Conclusion: Our patient had Pr-AKI after a miscarriage in the absence of other causes. Abstract: Various WIMP dark matter searches using the full data set of XMASS-I, a single-phase liquid xenon detector, are reported in this paper. Stable XMASS-I data taking accumulated a total live time of 1590.9 days between November 20, 2013 and February 1, 2019 with an analysis threshold of ${\rm 1.0\,keV_{ee}}$. In the latter half of data taking a lower analysis threshold of ${\rm 0.5\,keV_{ee}}$ was also available through a new low threshold trigger. Searching for a WIMP signal in the detector's 97~kg fiducial volume yielded a limit on the WIMP-nucleon scattering cross section of ${\rm 1.4\times 10^{-44}\, cm^{2}}$ for a ${\rm 60\,GeV/c^{2}}$ WIMP at the 90$\%$ confidence level. We also searched for WIMP induced annual modulation signatures in the detector's whole target volume, containing 832~kg of liquid xenon. For nuclear recoils of a ${\rm 8\,GeV/c^{2}}$ WIMP this analysis yielded a 90\% CL cross section limit of ${\rm 2.3\times 10^{-42}\, cm^{2}}$. At a WIMP mass of ${\rm 0.5\, GeV/c^{2}}$ the Migdal effect and Bremsstrahlung signatures were evaluated and lead to 90\% CL cross section limits of ${\rm 1.4\times 10^{-35}\, cm^{2}}$ and ${\rm 1.1\times 10^{-33}\, cm^{2}}$ respectively.

Abstract: KAGRA, the underground and cryogenic gravitational-wave detector, was operated for its solo observation from February 25th to March 10th, 2020, and its first joint observation with the GEO 600 detector from April 7th -- 21st, 2020 (O3GK). This study presents an overview of the input optics systems of the KAGRA detector, which consist of various optical systems, such as a laser source, its intensity and frequency stabilization systems, modulators, a Faraday isolator, mode-matching telescopes, and a high-power beam dump. These optics were successfully delivered to the KAGRA interferometer and operated stably during the observations. The laser frequency noise was observed to limit the detector sensitivity above a few kHz, whereas the laser intensity did not significantly limit the detector sensitivity.

Abstract: We measured a set of $\pi^\pm\Sigma^\mp$, $\pi^0\Sigma^0$, and $\pi^-\Sigma^0$ invariant mass spectra below and above the $\bar{K}N$ mass threshold in $K^-$-induced reactions on deuteron. We deduced the $S$-wave $\bar{K}N\rightarrow\pi\Sigma$ and $\bar{K}N\rightarrow\bar{K}N$ scattering amplitudes in the isospin 0 channel in the framework of a $\bar{K}N$ and $\pi\Sigma$ coupled channel. We find that a resonance pole corresponding to $\Lambda(1405)$ is located at 1417.7$^{+6.0}_{-7.4}$(fitting errors)$^{+1.1}_{-1.0}$(systematic errors) + $[-26.1^{+6.0}_{-7.9}$(fitting errors)$^{+1.7}_{-2.0}$(systematic errors)]$i$ MeV/$c^2$, closer to the $\bar{K}N$ mass threshold than the value determined by the Particle Data Group., Comment: 8 pages, 5 figures

Abstract: The root mean square radii of the proton density distribution in $^{16-24}$O derived from measurements of charge changing cross sections with a carbon target at $\sim$900$A$ MeV together with the matter radii portray thick neutron skin for $^{22 - 24}$O despite $^{22,24}$O being doubly magic. Imprints of the shell closures at $N$ = 14 and 16 are reflected in local minima of their proton radii that provide evidence for the tensor interaction causing them. The radii agree with it ab initio calculations employing the chiral NNLO$_{\mathrm{sat}}$ interaction, though skin thickness predictions are challenged. Abstract: Lattice and electronic states of thin FeSe films on LaAlO$_3$ substrates are investigated in the vicinity of the nematic phase transition. No evidence of structural phase transition is found by x-ray diffraction below $T^\ast \sim 90$ K, while results obtained from resistivity measurement and angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy clearly show the appearance of a nematic state. These results indicate formation of a pure nematic state in the iron-based superconductor and provide conclusive evidence that the nematic state originates from the electronic degrees of freedom. This pure nematicity in the thin film implies difference in the electron-lattice interaction from bulk FeSe crystals. FeSe films provide valuable playgrounds for observing the pure response of "bare" electron systems free from the electron-lattice interaction, and should make important contribution to investigate nematicity and its relationship with superconductivity.

21. Phase-resolved frequency-domain analysis of the photoemission spectra for photoexcited 1T-TaS2 in the Mott insulating charge density wave state

Abstract: We investigate the nonequilibrium electronic structure of 1T-TaS2 by time- and angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy. We observe that strong photoexcitation induces the collapse of the Mott gap, leading to the photo-induced metallic phase. It is also found that the oscillation of photoemission intensity occurs as a result of the excitations of coherent phonons corresponding to the amplitude mode of the charge density wave (CDW). To study the dynamical change of the band dispersions modulated by the CDW amplitude mode, we perform analyses by using frequency-domain angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (FDARPES). We find that two different peak structures exhibit anti-phase oscillation with respect to each other by retrieving the amplitude and phase parts of the FDARPES spectra. They are attributed to the minimum and maximum band positions in energy, where the single band is oscillating between them synchronizing with the CDW amplitude mode. We further find that the flat band constructed as a result of CDW band folding survives during the oscillation while the Mott gap is significantly reduced. Our results suggest the CDW phase is robust, and the lattice modulation corresponding to the CDW amplitude mode dynamically modulates the Mott gap., Comment: 7 pages, 5 figures

Needle deterioration owing to repeated punctures may be a major cause. We hypothesized that there is an optimal bevel angle for a back-cut point needle that is resistant to deterioration. In this study, we examined the effect of bevel angle differences in a back-cut point needle on needle tip deterioration caused by multiple punctures.Methods: The resin target was punctured perpendicularly using back-cut point needles with three bevel angles (15°, 17°, and 19°; n=8 for each angle) at a speed of 200 mm/min. The same needle was used for ten consecutive punctures at different locations on the target. The force applied to the needle was recorded as puncture force. The puncture force waveform is bimodal. The second peak values, which formed the maximum values of puncture force, were the focus of the main analysis. We considered a 5% elevation from the first to the 10th puncture force as needle deterioration, and the average slope value of the regression line between the puncture number and puncture force was used. When the upper limit of the 95% confidence interval (CI) of the slope value was less than 0.008889, the needle was considered to be resistant to deterioration.Results: The slopes of the second peak values during 10 consecutive punctures for each bevel angle (15°, 17°, 19°) were 0.003011 ± 0.01085 [− 0.006056, 0.012077], 0.006116± 0.007431 [− 0.000096, 0.012328], and 0.001515 ± 0.005783 [− 0.003320, 0.006349], respectively (mean ± standard deviation [95% CI]). Abstract: In April 2020, KAGRA conducted its first science observation in combination with the GEO~600 detector (O3GK) for two weeks. According to the noise budget estimation, suspension control noise in the low frequency band and acoustic noise in the middle frequency band are identified as the dominant contribution. In this study, we show that such noise can be reduced in offline data analysis by utilizing a method called Independent Component Analysis (ICA). Here the ICA model is extended from the one studied in iKAGRA data analysis by incorporating frequency dependence while linearity and stationarity of the couplings are still assumed. By using optimal witness sensors, those two dominant contributions are mitigated in the real observational data. We also analyze the stability of the transfer functions for whole two weeks data in order to investigate how the current subtraction method can be practically used in gravitational wave search., Comment: 26 pages, 10 figures

Abstract: A search for the neutrinoless quadruple beta decay of $^{136}$Xe was conducted with the liquid-xenon detector XMASS-I using $\rm 327\; kg \times 800.0 \; days$ of the exposure. The pulse shape discrimination based on the scintillation decay time constant which distinguishes $\gamma$-rays including the signal and $\beta$-rays was used to enhance the search sensitivity. No significant signal excess was observed from the energy spectrum fitting with precise background evaluation, and we set a lower limit of the half life of 3.7 $\times$ 10$^{24}$ years at 90$\%$ confidence level. This is the first experimental constraint of the neutrinoless quadruple beta decay of $^{136}$Xe.

Abstract: KAGRA, the kilometer-scale underground gravitational-wave detector, is located at Kamioka, Japan. In April 2020, an astrophysics observation was performed at the KAGRA detector in combination with the GEO 600 detector; this observation operation is called O3GK. The optical configuration in O3GK is based on a power recycled Fabry-P\'{e}rot Michelson interferometer; all the mirrors were set at room temperature. The duty factor of the operation was approximately 53%, and the strain sensitivity was $3\times10^{-22}~/\sqrt{\rm{Hz}}$ at 250 Hz. In addition, the binary-neutron-star (BNS) inspiral range was approximately 0.6 Mpc. The contributions of various noise sources to the sensitivity of O3GK were investigated to understand how the observation range could be improved; this study is called a "noise budget". According to our noise budget, the measured sensitivity could be approximated by adding up the effect of each noise. The sensitivity was dominated by noise from the sensors used for local controls of the vibration isolation systems, acoustic noise, shot noise, and laser frequency noise. Further, other noise sources that did not limit the sensitivity were investigated. This paper provides a detailed account of the KAGRA detector in O3GK including interferometer configuration, status, and noise budget. In addition, strategies for future sensitivity improvements such as hardware upgrades, are discussed.

The effect of TBE on diabetic retina was evaluated by immunohistochemical staining and quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) analysis.Results: In both groups with ob/ob mice, body weight and hyperglycemia levels increased over time. Immunohistochemical staining analysis revealed that glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) and advanced glycation end products (AGEs) expression levels were higher in normal ob/ob mice than in control mice, and lower in the TBE ob/ob mice than in normal ob/ob mice. Light chain-3 (LC-3) expression levels reduced in normal ob/ob mice compared to the control mice, but increased in TBE ob/ob mice compared to normal ob/ob mice. In the qPCR analysis, LC-3 expression levels were significantly lower in normal ob/ob mice compared to control mice, and significantly higher in TBE ob/ob mice compared to normal ob/ob mice. Abstract: We study isoscalar (IS) and isovector (IV) densities in ${}^{40} \mathrm{Ca}$ in comparison with theoretical densities calculated by Skyrme Hartree-Fock (HF) models. The charge symmetry breaking and the charge independence breaking forces are introduced to study the effect on the IV density. The effect of isospin mixing in the ground-state density is examined by using the particle-vibration coupling model taking into account the collective IV giant monopole excitation. We show a clear correlations in the IV density and isospin impurity of ${}^{40} \mathrm{Ca}$ within the HF and the particle-vibration coupling model. Abstract: Charge-changing cross sections $\sigma_\mathrm{CC}$ for $^{42\textrm{--}51}$Ca on a carbon target at around 280~MeV/nucleon have been measured. The measured $\sigma_\mathrm{CC}$ values differ significantly from the previously developed calculations based on the Glauber model. However, through introduction of the charged-particle evaporation effect induced by the neutron-removal reaction in addition to the Glauber-model calculation, experimental $\sigma_\mathrm{CC}$ values on $^{12}$C at around 300~MeV/nucleon for nuclides from C to Fe isotopes are all reproduced with approximately 1\% accuracy. This proposed model systematically reproduces $\sigma_\mathrm{CC}$ data without phenomenological corrections, and can also explain experimental $\sigma_\mathrm{CC}$ values obtained in other energy regions., Comment: 13 pages, 11 figures

Abstract: $\bar K$-nuclear bound systems, kaonic nuclei, have been widely discussed as products of the strongly attractive $\bar K N$ interaction in $I = 0$ channels. Recently, we demonstrated that kaonic nuclei can be produced via in-flight $(K^-,N)$ reactions using the low-momentum DC kaon beam at the J-PARC E15 experiment. We observed the simplest kaonic nuclei, $K^-pp$, having a much deeper binding energy than normal nuclei. For further studies, we have proposed a series of experimental programs for the systematic investigation of light kaonic nuclei, from $\bar K N$ ($\Lambda(1405)$) to $\bar K NNNN$. Abstract: The isovector and isoscalar components of neutron-proton pairing are investigated in the N=Z unstable nuclei of the fp-shell through the two-nucleon transfer reaction (p,3He) in inverse kinematics. The combination of particle and gamma-ray detection with radioactive beams of 56Ni and 52Fe, produced by fragmentation at the GANIL/LISE facility, made it possible to carry out this study for the first time in a closed and an open-shell nucleus in the fp-shell. The transfer cross-sections for ground-state to ground-state (J=0+, T=1) and to the first (J=1+, T=0) state were extracted for both cases together with the transfer cross-section ratios σ(0+,T=1)/σ(1+,T=0). They are compared with second-order distorted-wave born approximation (DWBA) calculations. The enhancement of the ground-state to ground-state pair transfer cross-section close to mid-shell, in 52Fe, points towards a superfluid phase in the isovector channel. For the “deuteron-like” transfer, very low cross-sections to the first (J=1+, T=0) state were observed both for 56Ni(p,3He) and 52Fe(p,3He) and are related to a strong hindrance of this channel due to spin-orbit effect. No evidence for an isoscalar deuteron-like condensate is observed.

Abstract: The Thinking Wave is an ongoing development of visualization concepts showing the real-time effort and confidence of semi-autonomous vehicle (AV) systems. Offering drivers access to this information can inform their decision making, and enable them to handle the situation accordingly and takeover when necessary. Two different visualizations have been designed, Concept one, Tidal, demonstrates the AV systems effort through intensified activity of a simple graphic which fluctuates in speed and frequency. Concept two, Tandem, displays the effort of the AV system as well as the handling dynamic and shared responsibility between the driver and the vehicle system. Working collaboratively with mobility research teams at the University of Tokyo, we are prototyping and refining the Thinking Wave and its embodiments as we work towards building a testable version integrated into a driving simulator. The development of the thinking wave aims to calibrate trust by increasing the drivers knowledge and understanding of vehicle handling capacity. Abstract: High-resolution gamma-ray spectroscopy of 18N is performed with the Advanced GAmma Tracking Array AGATA, following deep-inelastic processes induced by an 18O beam on a 181Ta target. Six states are newly identified, which together with the three known excitations exhaust all negative-parity excited states expected in 18N below the neutron threshold. Spin and parities are proposed for all located states on the basis of decay branchings and comparison with large-scale shell-model calculations performed in the p-sd space, with the YSOX interaction. Of particular interest is the location of the 0^-_1 and 1^-_2 excitations, which provide strong constrains for cross-shell p-sd matrix elements based on realistic interactions, and help to simultaneously reproduce the ground and first-excited states in 16N and 18N, for the first time. Understanding the 18N structure may also have significant impact on neutron-capture cross-section calculations in r-process modeling including light neutron-rich nuclei.

Abstract: A resonant state at $3.21^{+0.12}_{-0.04}$\,MeV, located just above the one-neutron separation threshold, was observed for the first time in $^{12}$Be from the $^{11}$Be\,$(d,p)^{12}$Be one-neutron transfer reaction in inverse kinematics. This state is assigned a spin-parity of $0^-$, according to the distorted-wave Born approximation (DWBA) and decay-width analysis. Gamow coupled-channel (GCC) and Gamow shell-model (GSM) calculations show the importance of the continuum-coupling, which dramatically influences the excitation energy and ordering of low-lying states. Various exotic structures associated with cross-shell intruding configurations in $^{12}$Be and in its isotonic nucleus $^{11}$Li are comparably discussed.

38. [CII] emission properties of the massive star-forming region RCW36 in a filamentary molecular cloud

Abstract: Aims: To investigate properties of [CII]158 $\mu$m emission of RCW36 in a dense filamentary cloud. Methods: [CII] observations of RCW36 covering an area of ~30 arcmin$\times$30 arcmin were carried out with a Fabry-P\'{e}rot spectrometer aboard a 100-cm balloon-borne far-infrared (IR) telescope with an angular resolution of 90 arcsec. By using AKARI and Herschel images, the spatial distribution of the [CII] intensity was compared with those of emission from the large grains and PAH. Results: The [CII] emission is spatially in good agreement with shell-like structures of a bipolar lobe observed in IR images, which extend along the direction perpendicular to the direction of a cold dense filament. We found that the [CII]--160 $\mu$m relation for RCW36 shows higher brightness ratio of [CII]/160 $\mu$m than that for RCW 38, while the [CII]--9 $\mu$m relation for RCW36 is in good agreement with that for RCW38. Conclusions: The [CII] emission spatially well correlates with PAH and cold dust emissions. This means that the observed [CII] emission dominantly comes from PDRs. Moreover, the L_[CII]/L_FIR ratio shows large variation compared with the L_[CII]/L_PAH ratio. In view of the observed tight correlation between L_[CII]/L_FIR and the optical depth at $\lambda$=160 $\mu$m, the large variation in L_[CII]/L_FIR can be simply explained by the geometrical effect, viz., L_FIR has contributions from the entire dust-cloud column along the line of sight, while L_[CII] has contributions from far-UV illuminated cloud surfaces. Based on the picture of the geometry effect, the enhanced brightness ratio of [CII]/160 $\mu$m is attributed to the difference in gas structures where massive stars are formed: filamentary (RCW36) and clumpy (RCW38) molecular clouds and thus suggests that RCW36 is dominated by far-UV illuminated cloud surfaces compared with RCW38., Comment: 9 pages, 11 figures, accepted for publication in A&A

Abstract: The first investigation of the single-particle structure of the bound states of 17C, via the d(16C, p) transfer reaction, has been undertaken. The measured angular distributions confirm the spin-parity assignments of 1/2+ and 5/2+ for the excited states located at 217 and 335 keV, respectively. The spectroscopic factors deduced for these states exhibit a marked single-particle character, in agreement with shell model and particle-core model calculations, and combined with their near degeneracy in energy provide clear evidence for the absence of the N = 14 sub-shell closure. The very small spectroscopic factor found for the 3/2+ ground state is consistent with theoretical predictions and indicates that the {\nu}1d3/2 strength is carried by unbound states. In recent years, nutritional indices have been reported as significant prognostic factors in various chronic diseases. However, the relationship between nutritional indicators and prognosis in elderly subjects with COPD has not been investigated.Patients and methods: We enrolled 91 subjects who received COPD assessment tests (CAT), spirometry, blood tests, and multidetector computed tomography (MDCT). We divided the subjects into two groups according to age (< 75 years (n=57) and ≥ 75 years (n=34)). The prognostic nutritional index (PNI) was used to assess immune-nutritional status and was calculated as 10 x serum albumin + 0.005 x total lymphocyte count. We then examined the relationship between PNI and clinical parameters, including exacerbation events.Results: There was no significant correlation between the PNI and CAT, the FEV1%pred, or low attenuation volume percentage (LAV%). In the elderly group, there were significant differences between the groups with or without exacerbation in the CAT and PNI (p=0.008, p=0.004, respectively). FEV1%pred, neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and LAV% did not differ between the two groups. The analytical model combining CAT and PNI improved the prediction of exacerbations in the elderly subjects (p=0.0068).Conclusion: In elderly subjects with COPD, CAT were associated significantly with the risk of COPD exacerbation, with PNI also a potential predictor. Here, we present a Japanese male who resided in the United States for 1 year, where he was diagnosed with pulmonary coccidioidomycosis that was accompanied by cavity formation. He did not tolerate antifungal therapy and consequently underwent partial resection of the upper lobe of his left lung upon his return to Japan. The patient’s symptoms improved after surgery. The trend toward global networking and logistics means that a diagnosis of coccidioidomycosis should be considered in routine practice in nonendemic areas. Due to the rarity of surgical treatment for this disease, prolonged follow-up is necessary. Best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA), intraocular pressure (IOP), and number of IOP-lowering medications at the preoperative examination (Pre), postoperative month 1 (1m), year 3 (3y), and last visit were compared between 14 eyes with APAC and their 14 fellow eyes. The number of corneal endothelial cells (CECs) at Pre and at more than 2 weeks after phacoemulsification was compared. The visual field mean deviation (MD) within 1 year after phacoemulsification and at the last visit was also compared.Results: For APAC eyes, BCVA was significantly improved at 1m, 3y, and at the last visit as compared with Pre (p < 0.05). IOP significantly decreased at 1m, 3y, and at the last visit compared with Pre (p < 0.05). IOP-lowering medication use decreased significantly from Pre to 1m (p < 0.05). The number of CECs was not significantly different between Pre and more than 2 weeks after phacoemulsification. BCVA was significantly worse in APAC eyes than in fellow eyes at Pre (p < 0.05). IOP and the number of IOP-lowering medications were significantly higher in APAC eyes than in fellow eyes at Pre (p < 0.05).Conclusion: Primary phacoemulsification improved visual acuity for APAC eyes and maintained good IOP control without the need for reoperation. Additionally, some workers, who experienced no problems while at university and successfully graduated from university, developed ADHD traits after finding employment. This study described associations between ADHD traits and sociodemographic characteristics among Japanese workers who were university graduates.Patients and Methods: Participants were randomly selected workers (n=1240) from across Japan who completed a self-administered online survey. ADHD traits were measured using an adult ADHD Self-report Scale, with scoring rules applied to reflect the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition criteria. Information was collected on sociodemographic characteristics including sex, age, socioeconomic status, working time, and health-related behaviors. We performed partial correlation analysis to estimate trend associations and used analysis of covariance to compare adjusted averages. This model was adjusted for all variables.Results: Males had higher levels of ADHD traits than females (p = 0.001), and younger age was associated with higher levels of ADHD traits (p < 0.001). Workers with low incomes had higher levels of ADHD traits than workers with high incomes (p = 0.009). More frequent consumption of midnight meals was associated with higher levels of ADHD traits (p < 0.001), although there were no differences for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Those who did not get enough rest from sleep had higher levels of ADHD traits (p = 0.007).Conclusion: Results for high levels of ADHD traits among workers were consistent with previous studies for adults diagnosed with ADHD, even though all participants had successfully graduated from university. Abstract: KAGRA is a newly built gravitational wave observatory, a laser interferometer with a 3 km arm length, located in Kamioka, Gifu, Japan. In this series of articles, we present an overview of the baseline KAGRA, for which we finished installing the designed configuration in 2019. This article describes the method of calibration (CAL) used for reconstructing gravitational wave signals from the detector outputs, as well as the characterization of the detector (DET). We also review the physical environmental monitors (PEM) system and the geophysics interferometer (GIF). Both are used for characterizing and evaluating the data quality of the gravitational wave channel. They play important roles in utilizing the detector output for gravitational wave searches. These characterization investigations will be even more important in the near future, once gravitational wave detection has been achieved, and in using KAGRA in the gravitational wave astronomy era., Comment: 2021/02/08 Accepted by PTEP

Abstract: Centaurus A (Cen A) is one of the most famous galaxies hosting an active galactic nucleus (AGN), where the interaction between AGN activities and surrounding interstellar and intergalactic media has been investigated. Recent studies reported detections of the H{\alpha} emission from clouds in the galactic halo toward the northeast and southwest of the nucleus of Cen A, suggesting that AGN jets may have triggered star formation there. We performed near-infrared line mapping of Cen A with the IRSF 1.4-m telescope, using the narrow-band filter tuned for Pa{\beta}, from which we find that the Pa{\beta} emission is not detected significantly from either northeast or southwest regions. The upper limit of the Pa{\beta}/H{\alpha} ratio in the northeast region is compatible with that expected for a typical HII region, in line with the scenario that AGNs have triggered star formation there. On the other hand, the upper limit of Pa{\beta}/H{\alpha} in the southwest region is significantly lower than that expected for a typical HII region. A possibility to explain the low Pa{\beta}/H{\alpha} ratio in the southwest region is the scattering of H{\alpha} and Pa{\beta} photons from the center of Cen A by dust grains in the halo clouds. From the upper limit of Pa{\beta}/H{\alpha} in the southwest region, we obtain constraints on the dust size distribution, which is found to be compatible with those seen in the interstellar medium of our Galaxy., Comment: 11 pages, 2 figures, accepted for publication in PASJ, typos corrected

Abstract: We performed a search for event bursts in the XMASS-I detector associated with 11 gravitational-wave events detected during LIGO/Virgo's O1 and O2 periods. Simple and loose cuts were applied to the data collected in the full 832 kg xenon volume around the detection time of each gravitational-wave event. The data were divided into four energy regions ranging from keV to MeV. Without assuming any particular burst models, we looked for event bursts in sliding windows with various time width from 0.02 to 10 s. The search was conducted in a time window between $-$400 and $+$10,000 s from each gravitational-wave event. For the binary neutron star merger GW170817, no significant event burst was observed in the XMASS-I detector and we set 90% confidence level upper limits on neutrino fluence for the sum of all the neutrino flavors via coherent elastic neutrino-nucleus scattering. The obtained upper limit was (1.3-2.1)$\times 10^{11}$ cm$^{-2}$ under the assumption of a Fermi-Dirac spectrum with average neutrino energy of 20 MeV. The neutrino fluence limits for mono-energetic neutrinos in the energy range between 14 and 100 MeV were also calculated. Among the other 10 gravitational wave events detected as the binary black hole mergers, a burst candidate with a 3.0$\sigma$ significance was found at 1801.95-1803.95 s in the analysis for GW151012. However, no significant deviation from the background in the reconstructed energy and position distributions was found. Considering the additional look-elsewhere effect of analyzing the 11 GW events, the significance of finding such a burst candidate associated with any of them is 2.1$\sigma$., Comment: 8 pages, 12 figures

Abstract: We have performed an exclusive measurement of the $K^{-}+\! ~^{3}{\rm He} \to \Lambda pn$ reaction at an incident kaon momentum of $1\ {\rm GeV}/c$.In the $\Lambda p$ invariant mass spectrum, a clear peak was observed below the mass threshold of $\bar{K}\!+\!N\!+\!N$, as a signal of the kaonic nuclear bound state, $\bar{K}NN$.The binding energy, decay width, and $S$-wave Gaussian reaction form-factor of this state were observed to be $B_{K} = 42\pm3({\rm stat.})^{+3}_{-4}({\rm syst.})\ {\rm MeV}$, $\Gamma_{K} = 100\pm7({\rm stat.})^{+19}_{-9}({\rm syst.})\ {\rm MeV}$, and $Q_{K} = 383\pm11({\rm stat.})^{+4}_{-1}({\rm syst.})\ {\rm MeV}/c$, respectively. The total production cross-section of $\bar{K}NN$, determined by its $\Lambda p$ decay mode, was $\sigma^{tot}_{K} \cdot BR_{\Lambda p} = 9.3\pm0.8({\rm stat.})^{+1.4}_{-1.0}({\rm syst.})\ \mu{\rm b}$.We estimated the branching ratio of the $\bar{K}NN$ state to the $\Lambda p$ and $\Sigma^{0}p$ decay modes as $BR_{\Lambda p}/BR_{\Sigma^{0}p} \sim 1.7$, by assuming that the physical processes leading to the $\Sigma N\!N$ final states are analogous to those of $\Lambda pn$., Comment: 13 pages, 12 figures

Its prominent features include good performance and ultra-low radioactivity. The convex-shaped photocathode realized a large photon acceptance and good timing resolution. Low radioactivity was achieved by three factors: (1) the glass material was synthesized using low-radioactive-contamination material; (2) the photocathode was produced with $^{39}$K-enriched potassium; and (3) the purest grade of aluminum material was used for the vacuum seal. As a result each R13111 PMT contains only about 0.4 mBq of $^{226}$Ra, less than 2 mBq of $^{238}$U, 0.3 mBq of $^{228}$Ra, 2 mBq of $^{40}$K and 0.2 mBq of $^{60}$Co. We also examined and resolved the intrinsic leakage of Xe gas into PMTs that was observed in several older models. We thus succeeded in developing a PMT that has low background, large angular acceptance with high collection efficiency, good timing resolution, and long-term stable operation. These features are highly desirable for experiments searching for rare events beyond the standard model, such as dark matter particle interactions and neutrinoless double beta decay events.
