Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) are one of the most versatile and low-cost solar cells. However, DSSCs are prone to low power conversion efficiency (PCE) compared to their counterparts, owing to their different synthesis parameters and process conditions. Therefore, designing efficient DSSCs and identifying the parameters that control the PCE of DSSCs are a critical tasks. We have collected data from hydrothermally synthesized DSSCs in the present work, published from 2005 to 2020. In line with publishing trends in the said period, we evaluate ZnO as a popular photoactive material for DSSC applications. We further analyzed the performance of hydrothermally synthesized ZnO DSSCs using different statistical techniques and provided some significant insights. We further applied the machine-learning technique with a decision tree algorithm to understand and discover the possible set of rules and heuristics that govern the morphology of the hydrothermally grown ZnO. In addition, we also employed supervised and unsupervised machine-learning models using conventional decision trees and classification and regression trees, respectively, to identify the dependence of the PCE of ZnO DSSCs on the different synthesis parameters. The reported work also evidences the PCE predictions of the ZnO DSSCs by using random forest and artificial neural network algorithms. The results substantiate that the random forest and artificial neural network algorithms successfully predict the PCE of the ZnO DSSCs with reasonable accuracy. Thus, we present a novel approach of applying statistical analysis and machine-learning algorithms to understand, discover, and predict the performance of DSSCs. We recommend extending the said know-how to other solar cells to identify rules and heuristics and experimentally realize highly efficient solar cells in shrinking manufacturing windows with a cost-effective approach.

Background: People spend about one third of their life in sleeping. The various sedative and hypnotic drugs currently used have various adverse drug reactions. In 1977 Budhiraja et al have done insufficient work on the Withania coagulans – a susceptible species that is not found plentiful in the world. Therefore, it was critical to discover the Central Nervous System (CNS) depressant activities of alcoholic extract of Withania coagulans fruits in Swiss albino mice by means of actophotometer. Materials and Methods: The spontaneous locomotor action was assessed by means of the actophotometer. The CNS depressant medications reduce the exploratory action in rodent as they weaken the motor coordination so that rodent is stationary for a considerable time. Thus, there is fewer interruptions to the rays of light. This spontaneous locomotor movement duration is statistically compared with the control, standard and the test drugs. Results: There was statistically highly significant (p-value alcoholic excerpt of Withania coagulans fruits with spontaneous locomotor action in Swiss albino mice on the photoactometer. Conclusion: The alcoholic excerpt of Withania coagulans fruits established the CNS depressant action in Swiss albino mice by photoactometer. Though in the late seventies some work was done on Withania coagulans, it is the vulnerable species not found plentiful. Therefore, it was worthy to investigate the anxiolytic actions of alcoholic extract of Withania coagulans fruits in Swiss albino mice by using Elevated Plus Maze (EPM) test. Aim: To study the antianxiety activity of alcoholic extract of Withania coagulans fruits in Swiss albino mice by Elevated Plus Maze (EPM) test. Materials and Methods: The antianxiety activity was measured using Elevated Plus Maze (EPM) test. The antianxiety drugs promote the mice to spend more time in open arm and less time in close arm. This increase in the time spent in the open space as well as number of entries from close to open space was correlated statistically with control and standard in the EPM test. Statistical Analysis: One way ANOVA was used for the statistical analysis. Results: Time spent in the open arm (Open) as well as number of entries into the open arm (EOA) by the Swiss albino mice was statistically highly significantly (p-value extract of Withania coagulans fruits in Elevated Plus Maze (EPM) test. Withania coagulans – a vulnerable species, is not explored much for its effects on mood except in the late 70s. Therefore, it was thought worthy to explore anti-depressive activities of the alcoholic extract of W. coagulans fruits in Swiss albino mice using forced swimming test. Aims and Objectives: This study aims to study the antidepressant activities of the alcoholic extract of W. coagulans fruits in Swiss albino mice using forced swimming test. Materials and Methods: Forced swimming test was used for assessing the anti-depressive activity of W. coagulans fruits alcoholic extract. If the extract had antidepressant activity, then it was expected that the period of mobility would increase and immobility would decrease. This decrease in immobility, if found statistically significant, was considered for antidepressant activity. Results: There was statistically highly significant (P < 0.001) association observed between alcoholic extract of W. coagulans fruits with depressive effect on mood in Swiss albino mice. Conclusion: The alcoholic extract of W. coagulans fruits did not demonstrate antidepressant activity in Swiss albino mice. In contrast, it revealed depressive effect on the mood in the forced swimming test.

Background: Schizophrenia is one of the most distressing central nervous system (CNS) disorders. It is described by positive, negative and cognitive symptoms. These symptoms can be controlled by the antipsychotic medicines. The numerous antipsychotic medications used today are not lacking the adverse drug reactions. The Withania coagulans a susceptible species, is not explored much for its CNS effects except in late seventies. Therefore, it was thought worthwhile to investigate anti-psychotic activities of alcoholic extract of Withania coagulans fruits. The objective of the present study was to assess the antipsychotic activity of alcoholic extract of Withania coagulans fruits in Swiss albino mice by Cook’s Pole Climb Apparatus for conditioned avoidance response (CAR)Methods: Cook’s Pole Climb Apparatus for conditioned avoidance response was used for assessing the antipsychotic activity of the alcoholic extract of 200mg/kg, 500mg/kg and 1000mg/kg doses of Withania coagulans fruits.Results: There was statistically (p-value >0.05) no significant association between any of the 200mg/kg, 500mg/kg and 1000mg/kg doses of the alcoholic extracts of Withania coagulans fruits with antipsychotic activity in Swiss albino mice.Conclusions: Withania coagulans fruits alcoholic extract did not demonstrate antipsychotic activity in Swiss albino mice under standard conditions.

Adverse drug reactions (ADRs) are a major cause of morbidity and mortality in countries having limited healthcare resources. The ofloxacin is an antimicrobial used for treating several bacterial infections. The ofloxacin, belonging to quinolone group of drugs, is bactericidal and acts by inhibition of bacterial DNA gyrase. Among the adverse drug reaction of ofloxacin, skin rashes are rare. An ofloxacin-induced maculopapular rash is the unique rare condition in the infant. The present case report was assessing the causality in ofloxacin induced maculopapular rash in the infant. Naranjo Adverse Drug Reaction Probability Scale and World Health Organization and Uppsala Monitoring Centre (WHO-UMC) system for standardized case causality assessment were used for assessing the causality. According to the Naranjo and WHO-UMC, ofloxacin scaled as the probable/likely cause of this ADR in infant. So, authors can conclude that the ofloxacin should be used cautiously in the pediatric age group.
