1. Mobile android application development for anxiety and pain management: Usability and validity testing of audio hypno-spiritual therapy in ICU settings

Abstract

Anxiety and pain in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) can worsen their condition and extend hospital stays. Conventional therapies, including hypnosis and spiritual support, are beneficial but often limited by time and staffing. This study aims to develop and validate a mobile-based Audio Hypno-Spiritual Therapy application, “Harmony,” to address these limitations. This research and development study used a prototype model. Validity was assessed by four experts in hypnosis, spirituality, critical care nursing, and cardiovascular disease, chosen for their expertise in relevant fields, using Aiken’s V analysis. Usability testing with eight ICCU patients evaluated the application’s practicality and effectiveness. The Harmony app demonstrated strong validity with an Aiken’s V value of 0.86. Usability testing, conducted with the USE Questionnaire, produced satisfaction scores ranging from 5.06 to 5.75 out of 7, indicating positive user experience and high satisfaction. The Harmony application shows high validity and usability, supporting its potential as a practical approach to reduce anxiety and pain in ACS patients in the ICCU. Future studies should include larger samples and evaluate the long-term impact of this intervention on patient outcomes.

2. Gel aloe vera reduces MMP-9 in diabetic wounds

Abstract

Gel aloe vera (GAV) is a good candidate for wound treatment for fisheries, since it is cheap, could be grown in coastal areas, and could reduce inflammation, infection and improve reepithelialization in diabetic wound. However, the effect of GAV on reducing matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)-9 is still unknown. High level of MMP-9 is one of the reasons why diabetic wounds frequently fail to heal. Abundant level of MMP-9 will cause degradation of collagen formation. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of GAV on reducing MMP-9. The induction of diabetes was conducted by using Alloxan Monohydrate. The rats were divided into two groups, GAV group, and control group. The wound appearance, exudate, intensity of fibroblast, and intensity of MMP-9 were compared. Mann-Whitney U test was used to analyze the difference in the intensity of positive cells for MMP-9. The study showed that the wound appearance in the GAV group was smaller compared with control group. In the GAV group, the intensity of positive cells for MMP-9 was significantly lower than in the control group. This study showed that GAV could reduce MMP-9, and therefore GAV could be recommended for wound treatment for patients with diabetic wound.

14. Uji Efek Larvasida Ekstrak Daun Gamal (Gliricida sepium) terhadap Larva Nyamuk Aedes aegypti

Abstract

Gamal leaves (Gliricidia sepium) well known as liquid organic fertilizer, are also known to have potential as vegetable larvicides because there are flavonoids, triterpenoids, coumarin, coumaric acid, mitotic acid, and stigmastanol glucoside which can be identified and isolated from various parts from Gamal. The aim of this study was to examine the larvicidal effect of Gamal (G. sepium) leaf extract against larvae of Aedes aegypti mosquitoes. The study was conducted using an experimental design with a posttest-only control group design and a completely randomized design consisting of 6 treatment groups. Two groups as control (positive and negative control), while 4 other groups received treatment of Gamal leaf extract (G. sepium) at doses of 50 ppm (P1), 150 ppm (P2), 250 ppm (P3), and 350 ppm (P4). There was no mortality of larvae Aedes aegypti from pure lines after giving Gamal leaf extract, but mortality only occurred in Aedes aegypti larvae positive control group originating from the field. Unknown LC50 and LC90. A total of 13 (52%) Ae. aegypti strain classified as tolerant, while as many as 19 (76%) larvae of Aedes aegypti originating from the field are classified as resistant.

39. A Comparative Study of the Effects of Nigella sativaOil Gel and Aloe Vera Gel on Wound Healing in Diabetic Rats

Abstract

Clinicians and wound care nurses in Indonesia usually use Nigella sativaoil (NSO) gel and aloe vera (AV) gel to treat diabetic ulcers. However, there are no studies directly comparing the effects of NSO and AV gels on wound healing, so it is unknown which of these 2 plants is better at promoting wound healing in diabetic ulcers. If the comparative efficacy between these 2 gels was known, it would be important evidence favoring the clinical use of one or the other product in Indonesia. The aim of this study was to investigate and compare the effectiveness of NSO and AV gels on wound healing in a rat model of diabetic ulcers. This experimental study involved 3 groups: NSO gel, AV gel, and controls. Our study showed that from day 5 onward, necrotic tissue and inflammation decreased in the AV gel group compared with the other groups. The wound areas on days 6 (P= .020) and 7 (P= .021) were significantly smaller in the AV gel group than in the NSO gel group. Reepithelialization was also better in the AV gel group than in the other groups. This is the first study to compare the effects of AV and NSO gels on wound healing in diabetic ulcers. Our study indicates that the AV gel is better than the NSO gel. Therefore, it is recommended that clinicians and wound care nurses use AV gel instead of NSO gel for the topical treatment of diabetic ulcers.
