KI-Anwendungen versprechen produzierenden Unternehmen zahlreiche Möglichkeiten zur Effektivitäts- und Effizienzsteigerung. Studien zeigen, dass bislang nur eine Minderheit KI-basierte Assistenzsysteme im eigenen Betrieb einsetzt. Ein Grund liegt darin, dass es den Unternehmen schwerfällt, Potenziale strukturiert zu ermitteln und Risiken realistisch abzuschätzen. Der Beitrag präsentiert einen niederschwelligen und partizipativen Ansatz, mit dem ein potenzieller KI-Anwendungsfall identifiziert, spezifiziert und gemeinsam mit betroffenen Stakeholdern hinsichtlich seiner Nutzenpotenziale bewertet werden kann. Das Vorgehensmodell wurde im Rahmen eines Forschungsprojekts entwickelt und in Zusammenarbeit mit produzierenden Anwendungsunternehmen unterschiedlicher Größe pilothaft umgesetzt.

Individuelle Produkte, komplexe Prozesse und hohe Produktivitäts- und Flexibilitätsanforderungen - Bedingungen, die viele Unternehmen vor große Herausforderungen bei der Planung ihrer Produktionssysteme stellen. Simulationsverfahren können hierbei unterstützen, in der Praxis sind allerdings diverse Hürden zu überwinden. Am Beispiel einer simulationsbasierten Optimierung der Maschinenbelegungsplanung des Presswerks eines Herstellers weißer Ware werden mögliche Lösungsansätze demonstriert.*)

Traditionelle Ansatze zur Bewertung der Produktivitat werden den charakteristischen Merkmalen wissensintensiver, interaktiver Dienstleistungen nicht gerecht. Im Beitrag wird ein Produktivitatsmodell fur wissensintensive Dienstleistungen vorgestellt, das eine integrative und ganzheitliche Bewertung der Produktivitat aus Kunden- und Dienstleisterperspektive ermoglicht. Das zugrunde gelegte erweiterte Produktivitatsverstandnis betrachtet die Produktivitat als Ergebnis des Zusammenspiels von Dimensionen der Effektivitat, der Effizienz und der Kundenzufriedenheit. Zur Uberprufung der postulierten Wirkzusammenhange und Erfolgsfaktoren wurde eine Onlinebefragung (N = 386) durchgefuhrt. Die statistische Analyse erfolgte mithilfe der Strukturgleichungsmodellierung in SmartPLS. Hinsichtlich der Auswirkungen auf den Erfolg von wissensintensiven Dienstleistungen erwiesen sich bestimmte Effektivitatsaspekte als bedeutsamer als Aspekte der Effizienz. Aus den Ergebnissen lassen sich Ansatzpunkte fur die arbeitswissenschaftliche Dienstleistungsforschung ableiten. Praktische Relevanz Das Modell vermittelt ein erweitertes, ganzheitliches Verstandnis der Produktivitat von wissensintensiven, interaktiven Dienstleistungen. Es kann von Personen, die direkt oder indirekt an der Planung und Gestaltung von Dienstleistungsarbeit beteiligt sind, als Grundlage fur die systematische Entwicklung von Kenngrosen sowie fur die Ableitung von Masnahmen zur Steigerung der erweiterten Produktivitat genutzt werden.

In order to handle the increasing complexity in product development projects, agility has established as a promising solution approach. A large number of agile methods from software development have aroused great interests among industrial users. However, deviating conditions in the development of complex mechanical engineering products prevent simple adoption of these agile methods. Therefore, this paper aims to present a robust transdisciplinary understanding of agility for a complex product development. Using a systematic literature review, the paper derives central agile factors along different structural dimensions of an extended team model. In a final empirical evaluation, the derived agile factors are subjected to a practical assessment among development project managers. For further research, the results should allow the translation of the practically confirmed factors into measurable indicators of agility in product development.

Wo werden wir wie und wann mit wem arbeiten? Welche Arbeitsplatze werden sich verandern, welche werden substituiert oder ersatzlos gestrichen? Vorliegende Prognosen zur Zukunft der Arbeit sind heterogen, lassen jedoch insgesamt keinen Zweifel daran, dass sich Digitalisierung und Automatisierung – noch deutlicher als bisher – auf die Erwerbsarbeit auswirken werden. Entscheidend wird sein, ob es gelingt, die auf unterschiedlichen Ebenen bestehenden Gestaltungsspielraume fur eine technologisch und sozial innovative, okonomische und menschengerechte Arbeitsgestaltung zu nutzen. Der Beitrag behandelt kursorisch vorliegende Studien, Ansatze und Kriterien, die aus arbeitswissenschaftlicher Perspektive fur die betriebliche Gestaltung von Arbeit besondere Relevanz besitzen. Mit einem Leitbild fur die menschzentrierte Gestaltung laden die Autorinnen zum interdisziplinaren Diskurs ein.

In this paper, the influence of the duration of breaks on the learning time of sensorimotor tasks is investigated. For this purpose, a laboratory study with 48 participants in two age groups was conducted. The experimental task was the repeated assembly of a gear. After each trial participants had a break. Depending on the experimental condition the breaks were 2, 4, 8 or 16 minutes long. To evaluate the performance, execution times and assembly errors were measured in each trial. The results show significant learning effects and a significant difference between the execution times of both age groups. No significant difference was found between these groups concerning assembly errors. The duration of breaks did not influence performance.

Digitalization has a significant impact on our working life and it allows whole industries to rethink their value chains. This paper examines how digitalization relates to complexity in work systems with respect to relevant organizational fields of work organization. 23 semi-structured interviews with experts from science and economy were conducted and analyzed. Key findings are that digitalization has far-reaching, interrelated implications for all organizational fields. Moreover, digitalization-related aspects were identified which have the potential to increase complexity in work systems.

Understanding the process of learning sensorimotor tasks is an important objective of work-related research. In order to investigate the influence of methods for introducing new sensorimotor tasks, a laboratory study with an age-differentiated sample of 40 participants was conducted. The participants were introduced either with a demonstration-based or with a reflection-based introduction, which were specifically created for the study. The experimental task was the repeated assembly of a carburetor. In each trial, the execution times and the number of assembly errors were measured. The collected data were compared with the data of 20 participants of a previous study, in which participants received no introduction. The results show that both introduction methods increase the initial product quality. However, only the reflection-based seems to be a good approach to introduce a new task to a learning person.

This paper presents an approach to develop a system dynamics model for the evaluation of the productivity of knowledge-intensive services. This model is based on the results of a case study as well as on literature research. At first, this paper gives a short introduction about knowledge-intensive services and the system dynamics method. The identified variables as well as their causal relationships will be presented in the following sections. A recapitulation of the findings and a prospect on further research conclude the paper.

This paper presents a study into the validity of a self-developed method to predict the learning time of sensorimotor tasks that was originally developed for young adults (age group AG I) for persons aged between 52 and 67 (age group AG II). For this purpose, a laboratory study was conducted with an age-differentiated sample of 60 participants. The participants’ task was to repeatedly assemble a carburetor with the help of one of three task descriptions, which differed in regard to format (textual, text- & figure-based, animated). Execution times and numbers of assembly errors were measured to evaluate human performance. Additionally, the cumulative viewing time of the task description was measured in each trial to analyze participants’ usage of the task description. Data analysis with respect to the age group and the format of the task descriptions indicates significant effects (α = 0.05). Thus, participants who had the support of a textual task description achieved greater performance improvement than participants who used the animated task description. Concerning the age group, participants in AG I show better performance and lower observation times concerning to participants in AG II. Furthermore, nonlinear curve fittings were carry out and root mean square errors calculated in order to investigate the accuracy of the prediction method. The results show that the prediction method is less accurate for older adults.

This paper presents a study on the relationships between leadership, quality of teamwork and goal achievement in production teams. Hypotheses regarding the relations between the constructs were postulated based on literature and results of previous research. A survey of employees working in teams within a production plant of a car manufacturer was conducted. In order to test the hypothesis, a structural equation model was formulated and a confirmatory factor analysis was used. The findings support the hypothesized relations for production teams. Results and implications for teamwork in production are discussed. The paper concludes with an outlook for future research.

The increasing importance of services in high-wage countries calls for a detailed examination of service productivity and complexity in current research projects. This paper describes the development of a measurement model with regard to service productivity and complexity of emergency medical services. While the measurement model of service productivity is partly literature-based, a novel construct is developed for service complexity. The reliability and validity of these constructs have been analyzed by a Germany wide survey with 400 participants. The reliability of the construct is estimated by analyzing Cronbach's alpha, inter-item correlation and item-to-total correlation. The correlation between the measurement model and a self-assessment is analyzed and a confirmatory factor analysis is conducted in order to establish the validity of the questionnaire. The results indicate that the developed constructs have sufficient reliability, although the examination of validity highlights difficulties in quantifying service productivity and complexity.

Demographic changes have important implications for the quality of working life. Increasing age is often accompanied by changes in perceptual, cognitive and motor abilities. The scientifically proven decrease of visual acuity with age is of particular importance for computer work. In this paper, acuity of vision was measured using a standardized eyesight test called Rodatest 302. To investigate the age-induced change in visual acuity and its impact on human performance, a target detection experiment with well-known Landolt rings was conducted on the basis of three different font sizes (12, 16 and 22 arc minutes). The Landolt rings were displayed on a TFT LCD screen. 75 subjects aged between 20 and 72 years participated in the experiment. The number of correctly detected Landolt rings (hits), the number of wrongly detected Landolt rings (false alarms) and the response time of correct responses were measured. Results from analysis of variance show a strong effect of font size and a medium age-related effect concerning the response time of correct responses. The interaction effect of font size and age group shows that age-related differences in response time can be compensated by enlarging the font size from 16 to 22 arc minutes. Results from partial correlation analysis show that an age-differentiated adaptation of font size is recommended rather than an adaptation based on measurement of visual acuity.

In diesem Unterkapitel wird die Entwicklung eines System-Dynamics-Modells fur die Bewertung der Produktivitat wissensintensiver technischer Supportdienstleistungen vorgestellt. Das Modell basiert auf einer 2 × 3-Matrix, die vertikal in Dienstleistungsnachfrager und -anbieter sowie horizontal in Potential-, Prozess- und Ergebnisdimension unterteilt ist. Diesen sechs Quadranten konnen die wesentlichen Einflussfaktoren auf die Produktivitat wissensintensiver technischer Supportdienstleistungen zugeordnet und deren kausalen Wechselwirkungen visualisiert werden. In diesem qualitativen Modell werden die Einflusse auf die Produktivitat veranschaulicht und Ansatzpunkte zur Messung und Bewertung der Produktivitat aufgezeigt. Es soll dazu dienen, die Wirkungszusammenhange der relevanten Einflussfaktoren transparent zu machen, um Dienstleistungsmanagern die Moglichkeit zu bieten, die entscheidenden „Stellschrauben“ so zu verandern, dass die Produktivitat der im Unternehmen angebotenen Dienstleistung gesteigert werden kann.

Fur Fuhrungskrafte ist es oftmals schwierig, die richtigen Masnahmen und geeignete „Stellschrauben“ fur eine nachhaltige Produktivitatssteigerung ihrer Organisationseinheit zu identifizieren. Ein fur diese Problematik entwickeltes Planspiel soll Fuhrungskrafte anhand eines Fallbeispiels fur die wichtige Thematik der Dienstleistungsproduktivitat sensibilisieren, indem die Auswirkungen moglicher strategischer Entscheidungen auf die Produktivitat spielerisch erlebt werden konnen.

Im vorliegenden Beitrag wird eine Methodik vorgestellt, welche im Rahmen von Innovationsvorhaben die Qualitat der Zusammenarbeit von Beschaftigten verschiedener Altersgruppen durch die Mechanismen Partizipation, Zielsetzung und Feedback fordert und zu einer verbesserten Innovationsleistung fuhren kann. Diese Methodik – das Partizipative Innovationsmanagement – ist angelehnt an den motivationspsychologisch fundierten Ansatz des Partizipativen Produktivitatsmanagements und wird erstmalig im Kontext des Innovationsmanagements angewendet. Die Implementierung der Methodik wird mittels eines Fallbeispiels beschrieben.

In the age of 24 hours a day, 7 days a week business it happens more often, that companies hire experts on working time, whose task it is to develop a new company-specific shift system. As a new shift system usually entails not only advantages but also disadvantages, often several new alternative shift systems are elaborated. Subsequently a panel of representatives of employers and employees are faced with the challenge to choose the "right" alternative. On the basis of a case study this paper exemplarily describes, how a good decision-making basis for the selection of a suitable shift system can be generated by applying the Analytical Hierarchy Process.

Flexible Produktionssysteme, wie sie im Beitrag von Garrel et al. ausfuhrlich beschrieben sind, ermoglichen es Unternehmen, unterschiedlichste Produkte zu fertigen und so veranderliche Markt- bzw. Kundenanforderungen zu erfullen. In diesem Zusammenhang sind oftmals Lose mit geringen Grosen kurzfristig herzustellen und auszuliefern. Dies erfordert, dass die an der Produktion beteiligten Arbeitspersonen uber die notwendigen Fertigkeiten zur Ausfuhrung der einzelnen Aufgaben bereits verfugen oder sie sich kurzfristig aneignen konnen. Folglich ist bei der Zuordnung von Arbeitsaufgaben zu Arbeitspersonen zu beachten, dass entweder alle Arbeitspersonen uber die zur Ausfuhrung der ihnen anvertrauten Aufgaben erforderlichen Fertigkeiten verfugen oder dass ggf. erforderliche Fertigkeiten unter den jeweiligen Rahmenbedingungen im Produktionsumfeld schnell und leicht erworben werden konnen. Dabei bedeutet Erwerben, dass die jeweilige Fertigkeit erlernt und geubt wird, so dass eine entsprechende Qualifikation entsteht (Schlick et al. 2010a). Der fur das Erwerben der Fertigkeit bzw. der entsprechenden Qualifikation notwendige Zeitraum wird als Lernzeit bezeichnet. Wahrend dieses Zeitraums konnen Referenzleistungen, die ublicherweise in Form von Vorgabezeiten festgelegt sind, nicht erreicht werden (Rohmert et al. 1974). In Folge dessen kann das Produktionssystem, in dem diese Aufgaben ausgefuhrt werden, die bei Referenzleistung vorgesehene Ausbringungsmenge nicht erreichen.

In this paper it will be explicated which are the most important influencing factors on the productivity of knowledge-intensive services. After a short introduction about knowledge-intensive services and research proceedings the authors will present the identified influencing factors on the productivity of knowledgeintensive services. These influencing factors will be assigned to the three dimensions of the service provision: Potential, process and outcome. Conclusive the findings and especially the influencing factors will be discussed and an outlook on further research will be given.

Although the early stages of engineering service development are essential, methods and tools to proactively and comprehensively evaluate the productivity of service processes are rare. Therefore, this paper presents a comprehensive model for product-service systems productivity assessment along the service provision chain. The novel productivity model distinguishes between potential, process and outcome thus covers all dimensions of a product-service system. The model further differentiates between service provider and customer from both a qualitative and quantitative point of view. A set of value drivers and success criteria is proposed in a structured manner, resulting in various levers to optimize a product-service system. The model is made fully operational by defining influence factors, representing parameters to optimize service productivity and by key figures measuring service effectiveness and efficiency. To evaluate the novel service productivity model, field data and expert opinions from two German engineering companies are considered.

The demographic changes taking place in many industrialized countries and the increased use of information technology in the workplace are creating an urgent need to carefully consider how older users work with computing systems. The changes in perceptual, cognitive and motor skills that often accompany the aging process can have important implications for the design of the human–computer interface. We investigated human–computer interaction exemplarily on the basis of self-developed project management application software for two reasons. First, computer aided project management (CAPM) is important in many manufacturing and service industries; and second, older workers are often responsible for the coordination and controlling of complex projects due to their extensive experience and excellent communication skills.

Process models capture important corporate know-how for an effective knowledge management (KM). However, many process models do not match with corporate reality and therefore cannot serve the intended purpose. Human Error is a major source for these inconsistencies that might hinder process implementation and maintenance as well as continuous improvement efforts. The approach presented in this paper accounts for a more active participation of employees in order to further increase the economical benefit of KM. To this purpose, a human error analysis in process modeling was conducted. The results derived from data of 64 subjects show that errors of omission and erroneous execution on an activity level are considerably higher for novices than for subjects with theoretical knowledge and experienced modelers. However, it can be concluded that even for experienced modelers complex modeling scenarios are prone to reasoning fallacies and thus represent a possible source for model inconsistencies in corporate practice.

Process models provide a sound basis for quality management systems (QMS). Inconsistencies between process models and corporate reality are a common phenomenon in corporate practice. Erroneous routing is a major source for these inconsistencies that might hinder process implementation and maintenance as well as continuous improvement efforts. The approach presented in this paper accounts for a more active participation of employees in order to further increase the economical benefit of QMS. To this purpose, a human performance analysis in process model development with regard to routing elements was conducted. The results derived from data of 64 subjects show that omission and erroneous execution of routing elements is considerably higher for novices than for subjects with theoretical knowledge and experienced modelers. However, routing elements like the split and join or an embedded iteration are prone to reasoning fallacies and possible sources for inconsistencies.

Die Erbringung produktbezogener und zugleich kundenindividueller Dienstleistungen hat in Europa zunehmend an Bedeutung gewonnen und ist heute ein tragender Geschaftsbestandteil im Leistungsportfolio von Unternehmen verschiedener Branchen. Mit der kontinuierlichen Zunahme der Bedeutung von Dienstleistungen gewinnt die Frage nach deren Produktivitat an Relevanz, denn Produktivitat und Wertschopfung sind nicht allein als betriebswirtschaftliche Kenngrosen zu betrachten, sondern bilden das Fundament fur anerkannte Formen organisierter Erwerbsarbeit (Ganz et al. 2006). Dienstleistungsproduktivitat stellt somit eine wesentliche Voraussetzung fur die Innovation und Diffusion von neuen Produkten in Verbindung mit Dienstleistungen dar (Ganz et al. 2006). Insbesondere wissensintensive Dienstleistungen von internen (Forschungs- und Entwicklungsabteilungen) und externen Akteuren (Engineering- und Personaldienstleistern) erbringen einen wesentlichen Beitrag zur Entwicklung von Sachgutern, die aufgrund ihres Neuigkeitsgrades hinsichtlich Funktionalitat und Wirtschaftlichkeit eine Spitzenposition auf dem Weltmarkt einnehmen. Die Konzepte zur Produktivitatsmessung und -steuerung in der Sachguterproduktion lassen sich aber aufgrund der Unterschiede bei der Messung und Bewertung der Einflussgrosen nicht ohne Weiteres auf die Erbringung von wissensintensiven, uberwiegend kreativen Dienstleistungen ubertragen (Johnston/Jones 2003).
