The two-stage ejector has been suggested to replace the single-stage ejector geometrical configuration better to utilize the discharge flow’s redundant momentum to induce secondary flow. In this study, the one-dimensional gas dynamic constant rate of momentum change theory has been utilized to model a two-stage ejector along with a single-stage ejector. The proposed theory has been utilized in the computation of geometry and flow parameters of both the ejectors. The commercial computational fluid dynamics tool ANSYS-Fluent 14.0 has been utilized to predict performance and visualize the flow. The performance in terms of entrainment ratio has been compared under on- design and off-design conditions. The result shows that the two-stage ejector configuration has improved (≈57%) entrainment capacity than the single-stage ejector under the on-design condition.

An advance propelling nozzle is designed in a different field of applications to accelerate the fluid from subsonic to supersonic/hypersonic. It regulates the flow properties of the liquid and provides the required thrust at a given design and operating conditions. The present study describes and evaluates geometry and its flow properties locally, along with the length of the nozzle. The developed 1-D gas dynamic equations with the real gas equation for the computation of geometry and flow properties assume that the momentum rate is constant. The constant rate of momentum change theory (CRMC) with frictional effect helps in the computation of nozzle coordinates with similar flow properties at any distance (say 0.5 mm in the present case). The results obtained have been validated by computational fluid dynamic (CFD) using ANSYS 14.0. The numerical results are in good agreement in comparison with modern CRMC theory at design conditions.

Hereditary gingival fibromatosis is a rare genetic disorder, also known as congenital familial fibromatosis or idiopathic fibromatosis. It may show as an isolated disease entity and is transmitted as an autosomal dominant trait. Hereditary gingival fibromatosis (HGF) may present as severe generalized and progressive gingival overgrowth involving attached gingiva, marginal gingiva, and interdental papilla. The conservative treatment includes removal of dental plaque and eliminating gingival inflammation. Surgically, it can be removed by gingivectomy.

As the first approach followed by normal ANN (artificial neural network) which consists of vast arrangement of layers and is applied on the dataset. This gives a view to use neural networks. Here the accuracy is calculated by applying hidden layer of auto encoder surrounded by the layers of neural network which is high comparable with others .Considering and comparing both the cases without auto encoder and with auto encoder is to be calculated. The performance is more robust as compared with the other methods and literature papers. The results calculated in this hybrid approach gives better and optimized solution.

Supersonic ejector energy flow devices are extensively used in various applications, such as pumping, mixing, compression, etc. The conventional single-stage ejector (SSE) design approaches are inefficient for modelling an efficient ejector because of their inefficiency in minimizing mixing losses in the mixing chamber, thermodynamic shock in constant area diffuser, and utilization of redundant discharged momentum at the exit of the first stage. The physics-based single-stage ejector design has better solutions because it minimizes irreversibility due to thermodynamic shocks. The present study utilizes the constant rate of a kinetic energy change physics-based approach to design a two-stage ejector (TSE) for water vapour. The computational fluid dynamics (CFD) tool ANSYS-Fluent has been utilized to predict flow characteristics. The performance of the ejector-diffuser system has also been compared with a single-stage ejector. It is found that the performance of TSE is 70 % higher than that of the performance of SSE.

By introducing constant rate of momentum change approach for real fluid ejector design, the crucial geometrical parameters such as nozzle exit position, mixing, and diffuser section lengths are optimized. With the numerical validation of the proposed model, the effect of geometrical parameters on the entrainment ratio is independently studied for water vapor at on-design conditions. It is observed that the geometrical parameters strongly affect the performance of the ejector. Adjusting the nozzle exit positions (NXP) in the upstream direction (upto − 4 mm) from its on-design (NXP = 0) helps in higher secondary flow entrainment. The optimum nozzle exit position is − 4 mm, with a maximum entrainment ratio of 0.593 compared to on-design 0.354. The optimal mixing and diffuser section lengths of the ejector are 95 mm and 250 mm, respectively. The optimal mixing and diffuser lengths are the on-design lengths, which have an entrainment ratio of 0.354.

In this study, two different materials, i.e. structural steel and aluminium alloy 6061, are used as potential shock absorber materials, and their performance is calculated using FEA analysis. The stresses, deformations, fatigue life and vibrational analysis of both the shock absorbers are compared. It is concluded from this study that the shock absorber made of structural steel shows excellent stress resistance even at heavy loads and the fatigue life of steel is higher than that of shock absorber made of aluminium. However, both the materials show approximately equal vibrations when the loading is applied. The study suggests that both these materials can be used in the shock absorber. However, because of high strength and high fatigue life characteristics, shock absorber made of structural steel should be preferred over shock absorber made of aluminium.

Numerical analysis of subsonic jets with and without tabs (vortex generators with exit area blockage of 4.84%) has been done in the present research paper. Two tabs has been fixed at nozzle exit diametrically opposite. ANSYS CFX software was used for analysis purpose and to understand the flow characteristics at four different Mach numbers 0.4, 0.6, 0.8 and 1.0. The main objective of the present study is to analyze the effect of innovative vortex generators in the form of solid tabs with triangular fins on either side offset to each other on the performance characteristics. Due to counter rotating streamwise vortices, there is large engulfment of masses from ambient air into the core jet, resulting in the reduction of potential core length.

There is a need of increase in efficiency and reduction of sound in jet engine where the researchers found that if mixing enhancement is made possible at the area prior to the primary zone of the combustion chamber the efficiency could be increased. As the free jet out of the nozzle taken the time to decay, there is a possibility for the fuel to exit at high speed in an unburnt state which primarily tends to reduce the efficiency of the jet engine. To overcome this problem, a square shaped fin tabs were designed and fabricated and the same was fixed diametrically opposite to the nozzle exit to create formation of vortices, thus the decay is made to be smaller and mixing of air and fuel will be enhanced. The experimental study was made along with data acquisition system to witness the effect of Mach number variation on and pressure ratio with respect to X/D as well as Mach number ratio by having a supply of air at M = 0.4, 0.6, and 0.8 in both the cases.

This experimental work investigates the effect of circular nozzle with non-circular nozzle in a flow-field issuing from circle-ellipse twin jet and the same is compared with circular twin jet for Mach numbers 0.4 and 0.6. For the two twin jet cases, the jets emanated from both nozzles of the twin jets are free jets and had the identical Mach number. In both twin jet cases, for all the Mach numbers, the nozzle spacing (S) is 20 mm. The exit area is 78.5 mm2 which is same for all the nozzles. The ratio of nozzle spacing to nozzle exit diameter (S/D) for both cases was kept as 2. The results from the radial (Y) direction and shadowgraph pictures indicate that the circle-ellipse twin jet show better mixing enhancement as the entrainment between the ambient fluid and the jets from the nozzles is more. It is also observed that both the nozzle exit Mach number and nozzle geometry strongly influences the mixing of the two jets.

The Flow measurements were made in the circular jets using two tabs at nozzle exit, placed diametrically opposite locations. The total pressure was measured along the jet axis (X-Axis) and normal to the jet axis (Y-Axis) at Mach number 0.2. Also, total pressure was measured for free jet to compare the results. The effectiveness of circular solid tabs and circular tabs with hole to enhance the mixing of axi-symmetric subsonic jets has been presented in this paper. It is found that both the circular solid tabs and circular tabs with hole significantly enhance the mixing of jets. The potential core length were reduced by 37.5% and 62.5% for jet of circular tab with hole and solid tabbed jet compared to free jet respectively.

Objective The purpose of this study is to assess the utility of web-based mobile technology monitoring tool, for ensuring linkages, and tracking of HIV-exposed child until 18 months of age. Methods The ‘early infant diagnosis (EID) Follow-up System’ was designed as a tool for reminding the field level staff for follow-up of HIV-exposed babies. Using Java Swing Framework, software was developed which generates automatic advance SMS alerts regarding patient information to the Counsellor of the respective Integrated Counselling and Testing Center and district supervisor, 7 days prior to due dates. Simultaneously, system generated e-mail is sent to district program officer for monitoring and updating the line-list. Results Before the introduction of ‘EID Follow-up System’ in June 2013, only 55.9% (637/1139) of the HIV-exposed babies born were tested at 6 weeks for DNA-Polymerase Chain Reaction during April 2011–March 2012. However, after its introduction, 68.4% (1117/1631) of them were tested during April 2012–March 2013. Correspondingly, the 18 months confirmatory HIV testing in eligible babies increased from 45.6% (934/2044) to 54.7%(1118/2044) during the same period. Conclusion The replicable technology driven initiative would help in strengthening the follow-up mechanisms and reach every HIV-exposed child for EID.

The purpose of this review is to analyze the representation of the ejector based on geometrical parameters like primary nozzle, mixing section and diffuser section. In the current era the ejector system is used to entrain low grade energy (secondary flow) with the help of primary supersonic flow. Different types of fluids are used for different application of ejector. The main role of supersonic nozzle is to entrain the secondary fluid at inlet in the mixing chamber. Researchers have done huge work in the field of ejector. The major parameters of mixing chamber are area, length, nozzle exit position (NXP) and nozzle divergence angle to improve the performance of the ejector without shock waves in mixing section. Diffuser is used as booster to increase the pressure. The broad scope of improvement has been seen in the nozzle and mixing section. Experimental as well as numerical based investigations have been studied to identify the performance.

Many pesticides and chemicals are not biodegradable, and due to bioaccumulation, can enter into food chain and ultimately affect human and animal health. Environmental exposure of pesticides to humans through ecosystems may be during cropping/ agriculture practices, consumption of food materials or air inhalation etc. Without pesticides or agricultural chemicals (herbicides, insecticides, rodenticides, fungicides and plant growth regulators), crop yield could drop by as much as a third and food prices would increase by as much as 75%. In India, 145 pesticides are registered for use at present and production has increased to approximately 85,000 metric tones. Though consumption in India is just about 0.5 kg/ha, but 51% food commodities are contaminated pesticide residues. Toxicity of pesticide is measured according to a number of indices (such as oral and dermal LD50) based on tests carried out on laboratory animals. They act mainly on receptors. In agriculture, mixing-loading step is the most contaminated task in open field accounting for two-thirds of the total daily exposure. Adverse health effects include acute and persistent injury to the nervous system, lung damage, injury to reproductive organs, and dysfunction of the immune and endocrine systems, birth defects and cancer. Even small amounts of some of these chemicals cause death; disrupt hormones and reduce the ability to successfully reproduce; and have been associated with specific cancers. Better understanding of the patterns of exposure, the underlying variability within the human population, and the links between the animal toxicology data and human health effects will improve the evaluation of the risks to human health posed by pesticides. Improving epidemiology studies and integrating this information with toxicology data will allow the human health risks of pesticide exposure to be more accurately judged by public health policy makers. There is need to educate all farmers for judicious use of pesticides, use of biotechnology and bio-pesticides, use of pesticides obtained from natural products such as Azadirachta indica (neem) via proper application of integrated pest management (IPM) programs would positively reflect on human health, agriculture, biodiversity and ecosystem management to minimize environmental problems caused by pesticides.

This was a case study to observe the environmental pollution of pulp and paper mill with respect to human health problems. A pulp and paper mill namely Vamasdhara at Srikakulam (Andhra Pradesh, India) was visited for observation, data collection and sample analysis for various pollution parameters like pH, suspended solids, total solids, COD and BOD. Samples were collected from different units (viz. black liquor from slant screen, brown stock washers (BSW)-1, paper machine back water, thickner filterate, inlet to effluent treatment plant (ETP in ), outlet to effluent treatment plant (ETP out ) or final discharge) of the mill. Five samples for each site analyzed in duplicate and averages were taken. General health information of a total of 135 mill workers was also observed and obtained through questionnaire/ interview schedule. Mill has high pollution parameters. pH, suspended solids (g/l), total solids (g/l), COD (Mg/l) and BOD5 (Mg/l) for inlet and outlet to ETP are respectively 7.85, 1.83, 7.96, 1744, 686 and 8.3, 1.25, 4.63, 546, 329. Environmental toxicity specially water toxicity due to some of the hazardous pollutants have more effect on health. Hair loss from hands and fingers without nails (partially and fully) and other dermal problems like rashes and itching on hands were noticed in 9 out of 15 workers at secondary fibre recovery plant of the mill. Improvement in design, processing and advancement in eco-friendly technology will not only improve the productivity of mill but the community health also through better utilization of resources, waste disposal and water treatment generated by pulp and paper industry. Further intervention and research is required for development of water supply surveillance and strategies for improvement in environment and community health.

The proliferation of computers, internet and wireless communication capabilities into the physical world has led to ubiquitous availability of computing infrastructure. With the expanding number and type of internet capable devices and the enlarged physical space of distributed and cloud computing, computer systems are evolving into complex and pervasive networks. Amidst the aforesaid rapid growth in technology, secure transmission of data is also equally important. The amount of sensitive information deposited and transmitted over the internet is absolutely critical and needs principles that enforce legal and restricted use and interpretation of data. The data needs to be protected from eavesdroppers and potential attackers who undermine the security processes and perform actions in excess of their permissions. Cryptography algorithms form a central component of the security mechanisms used to safeguard network transmissions and data storage. As the encrypted data security largely depends on the techniques applied to create, manage and distribute the keys, therefore a cryptographic algorithm might be rendered useless due to poor management of the keys. This paper presents a novel computational intelligence based approach for known ciphertext-only cryptanalysis of four-round Data Encryption Standard algorithm. In ciphertext-only attack, the encryption algorithm used and the ciphertext to be decoded are known to cryptanalyst and is termed as the most difficult attack encountered in cryptanalysis. The proposed approach uses Swarm Intelligences to deduce optimum keys according to their fitness values and identifies the best keys through a statistical probability based fitness function. The results suggest that the proposed approach is intelligent in finding missing key bits of the Data Encryption Standard algorithm.
