Abstract

Using 0.8 x 10(6) D+ D- pairs collected with the CLEO-c detector at the psi(3770) resonance, we have searched for flavor-changing neutral current and lepton-number-violating decays of D+ mesons to final states with dielectrons. We find no indication of either, obtaining 90% confidence level upper limits of B(D+ --> pi+ e+ e-) < 7.4 x 10(-6), B(D+ --> pi- e+ d+) < 3.6 x 10(-6), B(D+ --> K+ e+ e-) < 6.2 x 10(-6), and B(D+ --> K- e+ e+) < 4.5 x 10(-6).

Abstract

This article reviews the acute and chronic toxicity of the three oxidant air pollutants ozone, nitric oxide (NO), and nitrogen dioxide (NO2). The toxicity of binary mixtures of NO2 with other inhaled agents is also discussed. Newer studies are emphasized, especially those published in the last 5 years or still in press. Very recent data from our laboratory that suggest a new cellular mechanism of importance in lung injury in animals exposed to mixtures of ozone and NO2 that may have general relevance with regard to the effects of oxidant air pollutants on the lung are also presented.

3. Measurement of the Ξc+ lifetime

Abstract

The Ξc+ lifetime is measured using 9.0 fb-1 of e+e- annihilation data collected on and just below the Υ(4S) resonance with the CLEO II.V detector at CESR. This is the first measurement of the Ξc+ lifetime from a collider experiment. Using an unbinned maximum likelihood fit, the Ξc+ lifetime is measured to be 503 ±47(stat) ± 18(syst) fs. The precision of this measurement is comparable to previous measurements carried out by fixed target experiments with different sources of systematic uncertainties.

Abstract

Using data collected on the psi(3770) resonance and near the Ds*+ Ds- peak production energy by the CLEO-c detector, we study the decays of the possible D->PP modes and report measurements of or upper limits on all branching fractions for Cabibbo-favored, singly-Cabibbo-suppressed, and doubly-Cabibbo-suppressed D->PP decays except modes involving K0L (and except D0->K+ pi-). 7. Measurement of the B-0 and B+ meson masses from B-0 ->psi((')) K-S(0) and B+->psi((')) K+ decays

Abstract

Using a sample of 9.6 × 106BB̄ meson pairs collected with the CLEO detector, we have fully reconstructed 135 B0→ψ(′)KS0 and 526 B+→ψ(′)K+ candidates with very low background. We fitted the ψ(′)K invariant mass distributions of these B meson candidates and measured the masses of the neutral and charged B mesons to be M(B0)=5279.1±0.7[stat]±0.3[ syst] MeV/c2 and M(B+)=5279.1±0.4[stat]±0.4[ syst] MeV/c2. The precision is a significant improvement over previous measurements. ©2000 The American Physical Society.

9. Analysis of D+→K-π+e +νe and D+→K -π+μ++νμ semileptonic decays

Abstract

Using a large sample (≈11800 events) of D+→K -π+e+νe and D+→K -π+μ+νμ decays collected by the CLEO-c detector running at the ψ(3770), we measure the helicity basis form factors free from the assumptions of spectroscopic pole dominance and provide new, accurate measurements of the absolute branching fractions for D +→K̄*0e+νe and D+→K̄*0μ+νμ decays. We find branching fractions which are consistent with previous world averages. Our measured helicity basis form factors are consistent with the spectroscopic pole dominance predictions for the three main helicity basis form factors describing D+→K̄*0 +ν decay. The ability to analyze D+→K -π+μ+νμ allows us to make the first nonparametric measurements of the mass-suppressed form factor. Our result is inconsistent with existing lattice QCD calculations. Finally, we measure the form factor that controls nonresonant s-wave interference with the D +→K̄*0+ν amplitude and search for evidence of possible additional nonresonant d- or f-wave interference with the K̄*0. © 2010 The American Physical Society.

11. Improved measurement of |Vub| with inclusive semileptonic B decays

Abstract

We report a new measurement of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa parameter Vub made with a sample of 9.7 x 10(6) BB- events collected with the CLEO II detector. Using heavy quark theory, we combine the observed yield of leptons from semileptonic B decay in the end-point momentum interval 2.2-2.6 GeV/c with recent CLEO II data on B-->X(s)gamma to find Vub = (4.08+/-0.34+/-0.44+/-0.16+/-0.24)x10(-3), where the first two uncertainties are experimental and the last two are from theory.

We search and find no evidence for CP violation in tau decays into the K(pi)nu(tau) final state. We provide limits on the imaginary part of the coupling constant Lambda describing a relative contribution of the CP violating processes with respect to the standard model to be -0.172

Abstract

Using a sample of 2.59x10{sup 7} {psi}(2S) decays collected by the CLEO-c detector, we present results of a study of {chi}{sub cJ} (J=0, 1, 2) decays into baryon-antibaryon final states. We present the world's most precise measurements of the {chi}{sub cJ}{yields}pp and {chi}{sub cJ}{yields}{lambda}{lambda} branching fractions, and the first measurements of {chi}{sub c0} decays to other hyperons. These results illuminate the decay mechanism of the {chi}{sub c} states.

16. Study of psi(2S) Decays to gamma p bar{p}, pi^0 p bar{p} and eta p bar{p} and Search for p bar{p} Threshold Enhancements

Abstract

The decays of psi(2S) into gamma p bar{p}, pi^0 p bar{p} and eta p bar{p} have been studied with the CLEO-c detector using a sample of 24.5 million psi(2S) events obtained from e^+e^- annihilations at sqrt{s} = 3686 MeV. The data show evidence for the excitation of several N^* resonances in p pi^0 and p eta channels in pi^0 p bar{p} and eta p bar{p} decays, and f_2 states in gamma p bar{p} decay. Branching fractions for decays of psi(2S) to gamma p bar{p}, pi^0 p bar{p} and eta p bar{p} have been determined. No evidence for p bar{p} threshold enhancements was found in the reactions psi(2S)-> X p bar{p}, where X = gamma, pi^0, eta. We do, however, find confirming evidence for a p bar{p} threshold enhancement in J/psi-> gamma p bar{p} as previously reported by BES.

Abstract

We have searched a sample of 9.6 million BB-bar events for the lepton-flavor-violating decays B --> h e^{+-} mu^{-+}, B^+ --> h^- e^+ e^+, B^+ --> h^- e^+ mu^+, and B^+ --> h^- mu^+ mu^+, where h is pi, K, rho, and K*(892), a total of sixteen modes. Abstract

We have studied two-body charmless decays of the B meson into the final states rho(0)rho(0), K(*0)rho(0), K(*0)K(*0), K(*0)K(*0), K(*+)rho(0), K(*+)K(*0), and K(*+)K(*-) using only decay modes with charged daughter particles. Using 9.7x10(6) BB pairs collected with the CLEO detector, we place 90% confidence level upper limits on the branching fractions (1.4-14.1)x10(-5), depending on final state and polarization.

20. Measurement of the B -> Dl nu branching fractions and form factor

Abstract

Using a sample of 3.3 × 106 B-meson decays collected with the CLEO detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring, we have studied B → D0ℓ ν̄ and B̄0 → D ℓ ν̄ decays, where ℓ can be either e- or μ-. We distinguish B → Dℓν from other B semileptonic decays by examining the net momentum and energy of the particles recoiling against D - ℓ pairs. We find Γ(B → Dℓν) = (14.1 ± 1.0 ± 1.2) ns-1 and derive branching fractions for B- → D0ℓ- ν̄ and B̄0 → D+ℓ- ν̄ of (2.32 ± 0.17 ± 0.20)% and (2.20 ± 0.16 ± 0.19)%, respectively, where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic. We also investigate the B → Dℓν form factor and the implication of the result for |Vcb|. © 1999 The American Physical Society.

22. Correlated Λc+Λ̄c- production in e+e- annihilations at √s∼10.5 GeV

Abstract

Using 13.6 fb-1 of continuum two-jet e+e-→cc̄ events collected with the CLEO detector, we have searched for baryon number correlations at the primary quark level. We have measured the likelihood for a Λc+ charmed baryon to be produced in the hemisphere opposite a Λc-relative to the likelihood for a Λc+ charmed baryon to be produced opposite an anticharmed meson D̄ in all cases, the reconstructed hadrons must have momentum greater than 2.3 GeV/c. We find that, given a Λc- (reconstructed in five different decay modes), a Λc+ is observed in the opposite hemisphere (0.72±0.11)% of the time (not corrected for efficiency). By contrast, given a D̄ in one hemisphere, a Λc+ is observed in the opposite hemisphere only ±(0.21 0.02)% of the time. Normalized to the total number of either Λc- or D̄ "tags," it is therefore 3.52±0.45±0.42 times more likely to find a Λc+ opposite a Λc- than a D̄ meson. This enhancement is not observed in the JETSET 7.3 e+e-→cc̄Monte Carlo simulation.

24. Measurement of the lambda(+)(c) lifetime

Abstract

The Lambda+c lifetime is measured using 9.0 fb(-1) of e+e- annihilation data collected on or just below the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the CLEO II.V detector at CESR. Using an unbinned maximum likelihood fit, the Lambda+c lifetime is measured to be 179.6+/-6.9(stat)+/-4.4(syst) fs. The precision of this colliding beam measurement is comparable to other measurements, which are based on fixed-target experiments, with different systematic uncertainties.

Abstract

Using data recorded by the CLEO II and CLEO II.V detector configurations at CESR, we report new measurements of the masses of the ∑c++ and ∑c0 charmed baryons, and the first measurements of their intrinsic widths. We find M(∑c++)-M(Λc+) =167.4±0.1±0.2 MeV, Γ(∑c++)=2.3±0.2±0.3 MeV, and M(∑c0) -M(Λc+)=167.2±0.1±0.2 MeV, Γ(∑c0)=2.5±0.2±0.3 MeV, where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively.

26. Search for CP violation in B+/- --> J/psiK+/- and B+/- --> psi(2S)K+/- decays

Abstract

We present a search for direct CP violation in B+/--->J/psiK+/- and B+/--->psi(2S)K+/- decays. In a sample of 9.7x10(6) BandBmacr; meson pairs collected with the CLEO detector, we have fully reconstructed 534 B+/--->J/psiK+/- and 120 B+/--->psi(2S)K+/- decays with very low background. We have measured the CP-violating charge asymmetry to be [+1.8+/-4.3(stat)+/-0.4(syst)]% for B+/--->J/psiK+/- and [+2.0+/-9. 1(stat)+/-1.0(syst)]% for B+/--->psi(2S)K+/-.

Abstract

Using a sample of 25.9 million psi(2S) decays acquired with the CLEO-c detector at the CESR e^+e^- collider, we report branching fractions for the decays chi_cJ -> p p-bar pi^0, p p-bar eta, and p p-bar omega, with J=0,1,2. Our results for B(chi_cJ-> p p-bar pi^0) and B(chi_cJ-> p p-bar eta) are consistent with, but more precise than, previous measurements. Furthermore, we include the first measurement of B(chi_cJ-> p p-bar omega).

Abstract

Utilizing the full CLEO-c data sample of 818 pb$^{-1}$ of $e^+e^-$ data taken at the $\psi(3770)$ resonance, we update our measurements of absolute hadronic branching fractions of charged and neutral $D$ mesons. We previously reportedresults from subsets of these data. Using a double tag technique we obtain branching fractions for three $D^0$ and six $D^+$ modes, including the reference branching fractions $\mathcal{B} (D^0\to K^-\pi^+)=(3.934 \pm 0.021 \pm 0.061)\%$ and $\mathcal{B} (D^+ \to K^- \pi^+\pi^+)=(9.224 \pm 0.059 \pm 0.157)\%$. The uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. In these measurements we include the effects of final-state radiation by allowing for additional unobserved photons in the final state, and the systematic errors include our estimates of the uncertainties of these effects. Furthermore, using an independent measurement of the luminosity, we obtain the cross sections $\sigma(e^+e^-\to D^0\overline{D}{}^0)=(3.607\pm 0.017 \pm 0.056) \ \mathrm{nb}$ and $\sigma(e^+e^-\to D^+D^-)=(2.882\pm 0.018 \pm 0.042) \ \mathrm{nb}$ at a center of mass energy, $E_\mathrm{cm} = 3774 \pm 1$ MeV.

Abstract

The branching fractions of Ds meson decays serve to normalize many measurements of processes involving charm quarks. Using 586 pb^-1 of e+ e- collisions recorded at a center of mass energy of 4.17 GeV, we determine absolute branching fractions for 13 Ds decays in 16 reconstructed final states with a double tag technique. In particular we make a precise measurement of the branching fraction B(Ds -> K- K+ pi+) = (5.55 +- 0.14 +- 0.13)%, where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic respectively. We find a significantly reduced value of B(Ds -> pi+ pi0 eta') compared to the world average, and our results bring the inclusively and exclusively measured values of B(Ds -> eta' X)$ into agreement. We also search for CP-violating asymmetries in Ds decays and measure the cross-section of e+ e- -> Ds* Ds at Ecm = 4.17 GeV., 12 pages, 3 figures. Submitted to Physical Review D. Abstract

The first measurements of the coherence factor R_{K_S^0K\pi} and the average strong--phase difference \delta^{K_S^0K\pi} in D^0 \to K_S^0 K^\mp\pi^\pm decays are reported. These parameters can be used to improve the determination of the unitary triangle angle \gamma in B^- \rightarrow \widetilde{D}K^-$ decays, where $\widetilde{D}$ is either a D^0 or a D^0-bar meson decaying to the same final state, and also in studies of charm mixing. The measurements of the coherence factor and strong-phase difference are made using quantum-correlated, fully-reconstructed D^0D^0-bar pairs produced in e^+e^- collisions at the \psi(3770) resonance. The measured values are R_{K_S^0K\pi} = 0.73 \pm 0.08 and \delta^{K_S^0K\pi} = (8.3 \pm 15.2)$^\circ$ for an unrestricted kinematic region and R_{K*K} = 1.00 \pm 0.16 and \delta^{K*K} = (26.5 \pm 15.8)$^\circ$ for a region where the combined K_S^0 \pi^\pm invariant mass is within 100 MeV/c^2 of the K^{*}(892)^\pm mass. These results indicate a significant level of coherence in the decay. In addition, isobar models are presented for the two decays, which show the dominance of the K^*(892)^\pm resonance. The branching ratio {B}(D^0 \rightarrow K_S^0K^+\pi^-)/{B}(D^0 \rightarrow K_S^0K^-\pi^+) is determined to be 0.592 \pm 0.044 (stat.) \pm 0.018 (syst.), which is more precise than previous measurements.

Abstract

Using a data sample of 2.59 x 10^7 psi(2S) decays obtained with the CLEO-c detector, we perform amplitude analyses of the complementary decay chains chi_c1 -> eta pi+ pi- and chi_c1 -> eta' pi+ pi-. We find evidence for a P-wave eta' pi scattering amplitude, which, if interpreted as a resonance, would have exotic J^PC = 1^-+ and parameters consistent with the pi_1(1600) state reported in other production mechanisms. We also make the first observation of the decay a_0(980) -> eta' pi and measure the ratio of branching fractions B(a_0(980) -> eta' pi)/B(a_0(980) -> eta pi) = 0.064 +- 0.014 +- 0.014. Abstract

Using e^+e^- collision data corresponding to 5.88M Y(3S) [25.9M psi(2S)] decays and acquired by the CLEO III [CLEO-c] detectors operating at CESR, we study the single-pion transitions from Y(3S) [psi(2S)] to the respective spin-singlet states h_{b[c]}. Utilizing only the momentum of suitably selected transition-pi^0 candidates, we obtain the upper limit B(Y(3S) -> pi^0 h_b) < 1.2\times 10^{-3} at 90% confidence level, and measure B(psi(2S) -> pi^0 h_c) = (9.0+-1.5+-1.3)\times 10^{-4}. Abstract

We present the first search for the decay $D^+_{s}\to \omega e^{+}\nu$ to test the four-quark content of the $D^+_{s}$ and the $\omega$-$\phi$ mixing model for this decay. We use 586 $\mathrm{pb}^{-1}$ of $e^{+}e^{-}$ collision data collected at a center-of-mass energy of 4170 MeV. We find no evidence of a signal, and set an upper limit on the branching fraction of $\mathcal{B}(D^+_{s}\to\omega e^+\nu)

Abstract

Using 586 $\textrm{pb}^{-1}$ of $e^{+}e^{-}$ collision data acquired at $\sqrt{s}=4.170$ GeV with the CLEO-c detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring, we report the first observation of $D_{s}^{*+} \to D_{s}^{+} e^{+} e^{-}$ with a significance of $5.3 \sigma$. The ratio of branching fractions $\calB(D_{s}^{*+} \to D_{s}^{+} e^{+} e^{-}) / \calB(D_{s}^{*+} \to D_{s}^{+} \gamma)$ is measured to be $[ 0.72^{+0.15}_{-0.13} (\textrm{stat}) \pm 0.10 (\textrm{syst})]%$, which is consistent with theoretical expectations.

Abstract

We report on a study of exclusive radiative decays of the Υ(1S) resonance into a final state consisting of a photon and two KS0 candidates. We find evidence for a signal for Υ(1S)→γf2′(1525); f2′(1525)→γKS0KS0, at a rate B(Υ(1S) →γf2′(1525))=(4.0±1.3±0.6)×10-5, consistent with previous observations of Υ(1S)→γf2′(1525) ; f2′(1525)→K+K-, and isospin. Abstract

Using 9.32, 5.88 million Upsilon(2S,3S) decays taken with the CLEO-III detector, we obtain five product branching fractions for the exclusive processes Upsilon(2S) => gamma chi_{b0,1,2}(1P) => gamma gamma Upsilon(1S) and Upsilon(3S) => gamma chi_{b1,2}(1P) => gamma gamma Upsilon(1S). We observe the transition chi_{b0}(1P) => gamma Upsilon(1S) for the first time. Using the known branching fractions for B[Upsilon(2S) => gamma chi_{bJ}(1P)], we extract values for B[chi_{bJ}(1P) => gamma Upsilon(1S)] for J=0, 1, 2. In turn, these values can be used to unfold the Upsilon(3S) product branching fractions to obtain values for B[Upsilon(3S) => gamma chi_{b1,2}(1P) for the first time individually. Comparison of these with each other and with the branching fraction B[Upsilon(3S) => gamma chi_{b0}] previously measured by CLEO provides tests of relativistic corrections to electric dipole matrix elements.

Abstract

We report the first observation of the decay D^+ -> eta' e^+ nu_e in two analyses, which combined provide a branching fraction of B(D+ -> eta' e nu) = (2.16 +/- 0.53 +/- 0.07) x 10^{-4}. Abstract

We report the first determination of the relative strong-phase difference between D^0 -> K^0_S,L K^+ K^- and D^0-bar -> K^0_S,L K^+ K^-. In addition, we present updated measurements of the relative strong-phase difference between D^0 -> K^0_S,L pi^+ pi^- and D^0-bar -> K^0_S,L pi^+ pi^-. Both measurements exploit the quantum coherence between a pair of D^0 and D^0-bar mesons produced from psi(3770) decays. The strong-phase differences measured are important for determining the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa angle gamma/phi_3 in B^- -> K^- D^0-tilde decays, where D^0-tilde is a D^0 or D^0-bar meson decaying to K^0_S h^+ h^- (h=pi,K), in a manner independent of the model assumed to describe the D^0 -> K^0_S h^+ h^- decay. Using our results, the uncertainty in gamma/phi_3 due to the error on the strong-phase difference is expected to be between 1.7 and 3.9 degrees for an analysis using B^- K^- D^0-tilde D^0-tilde -> K^0_S pi^+ pi^- decays, and between 3.2 and 3.9 degrees for an analysis based on B^- -> K^- D^0-tilde, D^0-tilde -> K^0_S K^+ K^- decays. A measurement is also presented of the CP-odd fraction, F_-, of the decay D^0 -> K^0_S K^+ K^- in the region of the phi -> K^+ K^- resonance. Abstract

Using a sample of 25.9×106 ψ(2S) decays acquired with the CLEO-c detector at the CESR e+e- collider, we report branching fractions for the decays χcJ→pp̄π0, pp̄η, and pp̄ω, with J=0, 1, 2. Our results for B(χcJ→pp̄π0) and B(χcJ→pp̄η) are consistent with, but more precise than, previous measurements. Furthermore, we include the first measurement of B(χcJ→pp̄ω). © 2010 The American Physical Society.

Abstract

Using a large sample (≈11800 events) of D+→K -π+e+νe and D+→K -π+μ+νμ decays collected by the CLEO-c detector running at the ψ(3770), we measure the helicity basis form factors free from the assumptions of spectroscopic pole dominance and provide new, accurate measurements of the absolute branching fractions for D +→K̄*0e+νe and D+→K̄*0μ+νμ decays. We find branching fractions which are consistent with previous world averages. Our measured helicity basis form factors are consistent with the spectroscopic pole dominance predictions for the three main helicity basis form factors describing D+→K̄*0 +ν decay. The ability to analyze D+→K -π+μ+νμ allows us to make the first nonparametric measurements of the mass-suppressed form factor. Our result is inconsistent with existing lattice QCD calculations. Finally, we measure the form factor that controls nonresonant s-wave interference with the D +→K̄*0+ν amplitude and search for evidence of possible additional nonresonant d- or f-wave interference with the K̄*0. © 2010 The American Physical Society.

Abstract

A search for J/ψ radiative decay to weakly interacting neutral final states was performed using the CLEO-c detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring. J/ψ events were selected by observing the hadronic decay ψ(2S)→π+π-J/ψ. A total of 3.7×106 J/ψ events were used to study the decay J/ψ→γ+X, where X is a narrow state that is invisible to the detector. No significant signal was observed, and upper limits on the branching fraction were set for masses mX up to 960MeV/c2. The upper limit corresponding to mX=0 is 4.3×10-6 at the 90% confidence level. © 2010 The American Physical Society.

Abstract

We report evidence for the ground state of bottomonium, ηb(1S), in the radiative decay Υ(3S)→γηb in e+e- annihilation data taken with the CLEO III detector. Using 6×106 Υ(3S) decays, and assuming Γ(ηb)=10±5MeV/c2, we obtain B(Υ(3S)→γηb)=(7.1±1.8±1.3)×10 -4, where the first error is statistical and the second is systematic. The statistical significance is ∼4σ. The mass is determined to be M(ηb)=9391.8±6.6±2.0MeV/c2, which corresponds to the hyperfine splitting ΔMhf(1S)b=68.5±6.6±2.0MeV/c2. Using 9×106 Υ(2S) decays, we place an upper limit on the corresponding Υ(2S) decay, B(Υ(2S)→γηb)

Abstract

Analyzing 600pb-1 of e+e- collisions at 4170 MeV center-of-mass energy with the CLEO-c detector, we measure the branching fraction B(Ds+→τ+ν)= (5.52±0.57±0.21)% using the τ+→ρ+ν̄ decay mode. Combining with other CLEO measurements of B(Ds+→τ+ν) we determine the pseudoscalar decay constant fDs=(259.7±7.8±3.4)MeV consistent with the value obtained from our Ds+→μ+ν measurement of (257.6±10.3±4.3)MeV. Combining these measurements we find a value of fDs=(259.0±6.2±3.0)MeV, that differs from the most accurate prediction based on unquenched lattice gauge theory of (241±3)MeV by 2.4 standard deviations. We also present the first measurements of B(Ds+→K0π+π0)=(1.00±0.18±0.04)%, and B(Ds+→π+π0π0)=(0.65±0.13±0.03)%, and measure a new value for B(Ds+→ηρ+)=(8.9±0.6±0.5)%. © 2009 The American Physical Society.

Abstract

Using 24 million $\psi' \equiv \psi(2S)$ decays in CLEO-c, we have searched for higher multipole admixtures in electric-dipole-dominated radiative transitions in charmonia. We find good agreement between our data and theoretical predictions for magnetic quadrupole (M2) amplitudes in the transitions $\psi' \to \gamma \chi_{c1,2}$ and $\chi_{c1,2} \to \gamma J/\psi$, in striking contrast to some previous measurements. Let $b_2^J$ and $a_2^J$ denote the normalized M2 amplitudes in the respective aforementioned decays, where the superscript $J$ refers to the angular momentum of the $\chi_{cJ}$. By performing unbinned maximum likelihood fits to full five-parameter angular distributions, we determine the ratios $a_2^{J=1}/a_2^{J=2} = 0.67^{+0.19}_{-0.13}$ and $a_2^{J=1}/b_2^{J=1} = -2.27^{+0.57}_{-0.99}$, where the theoretical predictions are independent of the charmed quark magnetic moment and are $a_2^{J=1}/a_2^{J=2} = 0.676 \pm 0.071$ and $a_2^{J=1}/b_2^{J=1} = -2.27 \pm 0.16$., Comment: 32 pages, 7 figures, acceptance update

Abstract

Using e+e- collision data taken with the CLEO-c detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring, we have investigated the direct photon spectrum in the decay ψ(2S)→γgg. We determine the ratio of the inclusive direct photon decay rate to that of the dominant three-gluon decay rate ψ(2S)→ggg (Rγ≡⌈Γgg(γgg)/⌈(ggg)) to be Rγ(zγ>0.4)=0.070±0.002±0.019±0.011, with zγ defined as the scaled photon energy relative to the beam energy. The errors shown are statistical, systematic, and that due to the uncertainty in the input branching fractions used to extract the ratio, respectively. © 2009 The American Physical Society.

Abstract

Using the CLEO-c detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring, we have measured inclusive and exclusive cross sections for the production of D+, D0 and Ds+ mesons in e+e- annihilations at 13 center-of-mass energies between 3.97 and 4.26 GeV. Exclusive cross sections are presented for final states consisting of two charm mesons (DD̄, D*D̄, D*D̄*, Ds+Ds-, Ds*+Ds-, and Ds*+Ds*-) and for processes in which the charm-meson pair is accompanied by a pion. No enhancement in any final state is observed at the energy of the Y(4260). © 2009 The American Physical Society.
