In this paper, polymer-dispersed liquid crystal (PDLC) films which based on the acrylate and the thiol monomers were first prepared by ultraviolet-initiated polymerisation. The electro-optical properties and morphologies of the PDLC films were systematically investigated. The functionality of thiol monomers and their feed ratio showed great influence on the properties of the fabricated PDLC films because of the existence of competition between thiol–acrylate reaction and acrylate monomer polymerisation reaction. This made the polymer network and electro-optical properties of the PDLC films easily tunable by the introduction of the thiol monomers. When added four-functional thiol monomer PETMP with appropriate concentration into the PDLC system, lower driven voltage and higher contrast ratio were achieved. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]

In order to clarify the impacts of southern rice black-streaked dwarf virus (SRBSDV) infection on rice plants, rice planthoppers and natural enemies, differences in nutrients and volatile secondary metabolites between infected and healthy rice plants were examined. Furthermore, the impacts of virus-mediated changes in plants on the population growth of non-vector brown planthopper (BPH), Nilaparvata lugens, and the selectivity and parasitic capability of planthopper egg parasitoid Anagrus nilaparvatae were studied. The results showed that rice plants had no significant changes in amino acid and soluble sugar contents after SRBSDV infection, and SRBSDV-infected plants had no significant effect on population growth of non-vector BPH. A. nilaparvatae preferred BPH eggs both in infected and healthy rice plants, and tended to parasitize eggs on infected plants, but it had no significant preference for infected plants or healthy plants. GC-MS analysis showed that tridecylic aldehyde occurred only in rice plants infected with SRBSDV, whereas octanal, undecane, methyl salicylate and hexadecane occurred only in healthy rice plants. However, in tests of behavioral responses to these five volatile substances using a Y-tube olfactometer, A. nilaparvatae did not show obvious selectivity between single volatile substances at different concentrations and liquid paraffin in the control group. The parasitic capability of A. nilaparvatae did not differ between SRBSDV-infected plants and healthy plant seedlings. The instantaneous revelation of transitionin the latter from the gas–liquid two-phase state to a singlephase at sufficiently high pressures provides important informationfor use and further investigation of this fully expanded regime. Background: Successful aging (SA) describes the multidimensional aspects of achieving optimal physical and mental health and social well-being combinations in old age. Recent years have seen increasing interest in understanding SA prevalence. This study systematically evaluates the current state of SA globally, defined as multidimensional outcomes., Objective: To systematically evaluate the global prevalence of SA in older adults., Methods: We searched PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, China Biomedical Database, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Wanfang Data Knowledge Service Platform, and Weipu Database from inception to February 14, 2024. Two researchers independently conducted literature screening, data extraction, and quality evaluation. Meta-analysis was performed using Stata 16.0., Results: Thirty studies comprising 250,460 older adults were included. Meta-analysis showed the overall global prevalence of SA was 24.0 % [95 % CI (20.7 %, 27.3 %)]. Prevalence rates were 25.1 % in Asia, 21.5 % in Europe, 20.6 % in the Americas; 16.8 % in developed and 27.1 % in developing countries. Subgroup analyses indicated higher SA rates among male older adults, married/cohabiting, living in urban areas, and having higher education levels., Conclusions: The global prevalence of SA among older adults is low, with variations across age groups, regions, and education levels. Background: Intensive care unit (ICU)-acquired weakness (ICU-AW) is a critical complication that significantly worsens patient prognosis. It is widely thought that risk prediction models can be harnessed to guide preventive interventions. While the number of ICU-AW risk prediction models is increasing, the quality and applicability of these models in clinical practice remain unclear., Objective: The objective of this study was to systematically review published studies on risk prediction models for ICU-AW., Methods: We searched electronic databases (PubMed, Web of Science, The Cochrane Library, Embase, Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature (CINAHL), China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), China Science and Technology Periodical Database (VIP), and Wanfang Database) from inception to October 2023 for studies on ICU-AW risk prediction models. Two independent researchers screened the literature, extracted data, and assessed the risk of bias and applicability of the included studies., Results: A total of 2709 articles were identified. After screening, 25 articles were selected, encompassing 25 risk prediction models. The area under the curve for these models ranged from 0.681 to 0.926. Evaluation of bias risk indicated that all included models exhibited a high risk of bias, with three models demonstrating poor applicability. The top five predictors among these models were mechanical ventilation duration, age, Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation II score, blood lactate levels, and the length of ICU stay. The combined area under the curve of the ten validation models was 0.83 (95% confidence interval: 0.77-0.88), indicating a strong discriminative ability., Conclusions: Overall, ICU-AW risk prediction models demonstrate promising discriminative ability. However, further optimisation is needed to address limitations, including data source heterogeneity, potential biases in study design, and the need for robust statistical validation. Background: Diabetic foot ulcer is one of the most prevalent, serious, and costly consequences of diabetes, often associated with peripheral neuropathy and peripheral arterial disease. These ulcers contribute to high disability and mortality rates in patients and pose a major challenge to clinical management., Objective: To systematically review the risk prediction models for post-healing recurrence in diabetic foot ulcer (DFU) patients, so as to provide a reference for clinical staff to choose appropriate prediction models., Methods: The authors searched five databases (Cochrane Library, PubMed, Web of Science, EMBASE, and Chinese Biomedical Database) from their inception to September 23, 2023, for relevant literature. After data extraction, the quality of the literature was evaluated using the Predictive Model Research Bias Risk and Suitability Assessment tool (PROBAST). Meta-analysis was performed using STATA 17.0 software., Results: A total of 9 studies involving 5956 patients were included. The recurrence rate after DFU healing ranged from 6.2 % to 41.4 %. Nine studies established 15 risk prediction models, and the area under the curve (AUC) ranged from 0.660 to 0.940, of which 12 models had an AUC≥0.7, indicating good prediction performance. The combined AUC value of the 9 validation models was 0.83 (95 % confidence interval: 0.79-0.88). Hosmer-Lemeshow test was performed for 10 models, external validation for 5 models, and internal validation for 6 models. The ionic conductivity, phase components, and microstructures of LATP depend on its synthesis process. However, their relative importance and their interactions with synthesis process parameters (such as source materials, calcination temperature, and sintering temperature) remain unclear. In this work, different source materials were used to prepare LATP via the solid-state reaction method under different calcination and sintering temperatures, and an analysis via orthogonal experiments and machine learning was used to systematically study the effects of the process parameters. Sintering temperatures had the greatest effect on the total ionic conductivity of LATP pellets, followed by the sources and calcination temperatures. Sources, as the foundational factors, directly determine the composition of a major secondary phase of LATP pellets, which influences the whole process. The calcination temperature had limited impact on the ion conductivity of LATP pellets if pellets were sintered under the optimal temperature. The sintering temperature is the most important factor that influences the ion conductivity by eliminating most secondary phases and altering the microstructure of LATP, including the intergranular contact, grain size, relative densities, etc. This work offers a novel perspective to comprehend the synthesis of solid-state electrolytes beyond LATP.
