Visual impairments are a common feature of PD. Patients report difficulties with visual scanning, impaired depth perception and spatial navigation, and blurry and double vision. Examination of PD patients reveals abnormal fixational saccades, strabismus, impaired convergence, and abnormal visually-guided saccades. Background: It is necessary to precisely locate the branches for better result of flap transplantation for the high variability of perforating branches of posterior tibial artery (PTA). In the research, digital subtraction angiography (DSA) and high-frequency ultrasound are jointly used to study the distribution and exact location of PTA perforating branches to guide clinical practice., Methods: From January 2020 to December 2022, 16 patients underwent DSA examination and 5 of them accepted further high-frequency ultrasound examination. The authors analyzed the distribution, number, location, direction, and lengths of PTA branches and used PTA perforator flaps to repair middle and inferior lower leg defects according to the above imaging findings. The donor site was repaired with skin grafts or a sequential PTA perforator flap., Results: A total of 81 branches of PTA were identified in 16 patients. Most of the perforating branches were in the middle and distal thirds of tibia. There was a significant correlation between the length of perforating branches and their perforating sites. Cluster analysis showed that larger branches appeared most frequently in the range of 15 to 20 cm from the tip of the inner ankle. 5 cases of PTA perforator flaps survived well., Conclusion: DSA can clearly show the distribution of PTA and its branches, especially the dominant ones. Ag modified ZnO nanoflowers were successfully prepared by sunlight induced solvent reduction method. The samples were characterized by x-ray diffractometer, field emission scanning electron microscope, transmission electron microscope and energy dispersive x-ray spectrum, and the results confirmed the presence of Ag nanoparticles on the ZnO nanoflower. The gas sensing performance of the materials was studied at different operating temperatures and different n-butanol concentrations. The results showed that the Ag modified ZnO nanoflower sensor responded to 50 ppm n-butanol up to 147.17 at 280 °C, and the Ag modified ZnO nanoflower sensor exhibited excellent repeatability, stability and response recovery time. In addition, different target gases were employed for the selectivity study of the Ag modified ZnO nanoflower. It can be found that the Ag modified ZnO nanoflower had good selectivity for n-butanol. The improved response of the Ag modified ZnO nanoflower sensor was attributed to the catalytic effect of Ag nanoparticles. Objective: To evaluate the safety and efficacy of percutaneous transhepatic papillary balloon dilation (PTPBD) combined with flexible ureteroscopy-guided dual-frequency double-pulse ND:YAG (FREDDY) laser lithotripsy (PTPBD-FREDDY) for the treatment of giant (>1.5 cm diameter) common bile duct stones. Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 26 patients with large-diameter difficult choledocholithiasis admitted to two medical centers from December 2017 to October 2021. Among these patients, four could not tolerate surgery or endoscopic treatment, six experienced failure of endoscopic treatment, and 16 refused to undergo endoscopic or surgical treatment. All patients underwent the PTPBD-FREDDY procedure. The FREDDY laser lithotripsy was performed under ureteroscopic guidance, followed by a balloon to push the stones into the duodenum. The primary endpoint was the technical success rate, and the secondary endpoints included the rate of stone recurrence and related complications. Results: All 26 patients successfully completed the operation, achieving a technical success rate of 100%. The average lithotripsy frequency and operation time for bilirubin stones were significantly higher than those of mixed stones and cholesterol stones ( P <0.01). The main postoperative complications included mild fever ( n =3), abdominal pain ( n =3), nausea ( n =2) and vomiting ( n =1). One patient experienced biliary tract bleeding, which improved after conservative treatment. No serious complications such as pancreatitis, sepsis, or biliary perforation were observed. After 2 years of follow-up, no cases of stone recurrence were observed. Conclusions: PTPBD-FREDDY is a safe and effective treatment for patients with giant common bile duct stones. It provides a new therapeutic option for patients with giant choledocholithiasis who can not tolerate surgery or have failed endoscopic treatment, demonstrating promising prospects.

The widespread utilization of fossil fuels has emitted large amounts of CO 2 into the atmosphere since the Industrial Revolution, leading to climate warming and frequent occurrence of extreme climate events. To effectively alleviate climate change, the international community has made various efforts to reduce carbon emissions and eliminate CO 2 from the atmosphere. In 2020, the Chinese government announced that carbon emission peaking and carbon neutrality will be achieved by 2030 and 2060, respectively. According to the current forecast, by the time carbon neutrality is achieved in 2060, even under the minimum conditions of fossil energy use, production, and living emissions, China will still have to emit about 1/4 of the current total emissions. These carbon must primarily be absorbed by ecosystems. Furthermore, approximately 140 ppm increase in CO 2 in the atmosphere since the Industrial Revolution still needs to be removed by ecosystems. Forests are the main component of terrestrial ecosystems, contributing more than 80% of the carbon sequestration capacity of all terrestrial ecosystems. However, due to the long periodicity, complexity and dynamic variability of forests, the basic concepts of ecosystem carbon sink and its time effect are still unclear, leading to problems, such as lacking technologies for improving carbon sink capacity and disorganized rules in the carbon sink trading market. In this review, we introduced carbon sink concept according to the processes of absorbing and fixing CO 2 by plant photosynthesis in forest ecosystems. Then, we analyzed the processes of time-scale-dependent carbon sinks of forest ecosystems, discussed the time effects of forest carbon sinks, and suggested using "t-year" as the unit of carbon sink (taking 3-6 months as the minimum measurement time, i.e ., the beginning of carbon sequestration). Third, we proposed the approaches to improve the carbon sink capacity of forest ecosystems. One way is to improve the carbon sink capacity (expanding forest area, improving forest quality, and increasing forest soil carbon storage) of forest ecosystems. Another approach is to maintain the carbon sink of forest ecosystems as long as possible, i.e ., to reduce temporary carbon sink (definition: carbon in the forest ecosystems emit into the atmosphere for a certain period) and to increase persistent carbon sink (definition: carbon in the forest ecosystems no longer emit into the atmosphere for a certain period; according to the relevant provisions of the Paris Agreement, the upper time limit for carbon sink measurement can be considered to be the year 2100. In order to maintain the persistent carbon sink, strateges such as efficient use of wood products (replace steel, cement, plastic with wood), control of forest fires or other disturbances-induced emissions, and turning forest biomass into biochar should be taken. Finally, we proposed to develop climate-smart forestry driven by artificial intelligence (AI), which would provide new theoretical and technical support for improving the carbon sink of forest ecosystems and facilitating sustainable forest management.

Abstract: The aim of this study was to compare the accuracies of cognitive fusion-guided targeted biopsy (TB), systematic biopsy (SB), and combined TB+SB for the detection of prostate cancer (PCa) and clinically significant PCa (csPCa) in males with lesions detected by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). We conducted a retrospective analysis of individuals who underwent prostate biopsy at Peking University People's Hospital (Beijing, China), with an emphasis on patients with both transrectal TB and SB. The main objective was to determine the precisions of SB, TB, and TB+SB for diagnosing PCa and csPCa. We also evaluated the detection rates of TB, SB, TB+ipsilateral-SB (ipsi-SB), TB+contralateral-SB (contra-SB), and TB+SB for PCa and csPCa in patients with unilateral MRI lesions. We compared the diagnostic yields of the various biopsy schemes using the McNemar's test. A total of 180 patients were enrolled. The rates of PCa detection using TB, SB, and TB+SB were 52.8%, 62.2%, and 66.7%, respectively, and the corresponding rates for csPCa were 46.1%, 56.7%, and 58.3%, respectively. Among patients with unilateral MRI lesions, the PCa detection rates for TB, SB, TB+ipsi-SB, TB+contra-SB, and TB+SB were 53.3%, 64.8%, 65.6%, 61.5%, and 68.0%, respectively. TB+ipsi-SB detected 96.4% of PCa and 95.9% of csPCa cases. These findings suggest that the combination of TB+SB has better diagnostic accuracy compared with SB or TB alone. The response of mesophyll conductance (g m ) to CO 2 plays a key role in photosynthesis and ecosystem carbon cycles under climate change. Despite numerous studies, there is still debate about how g m responds to short-term CO 2 variations. Here we used multiple methods and looked at the relationship between stomatal conductance to CO 2 (g sc ) and g m to address this aspect. We measured chlorophyll fluorescence parameters and online carbon isotope discrimination (Δ) at different CO 2 mole fractions in sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.), cowpea (Vigna unguiculata L.), and wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) leaves. The variable J and Δ based methods showed that g m decreased with an increase in CO 2 mole fraction, and so did stomatal conductance. There were linear relationships between g m and g sc across CO 2 mole fractions. g m obtained from A-C i curve fitting method was higher than that from the variable J method and was not representative of g m under the growth CO 2 concentration. g m could be estimated by empirical models analogous to the Ball-Berry model and the USO model for stomatal conductance. Our results suggest that g m and g sc respond in a coordinated manner to short-term variations in CO 2 , providing new insight into the role of g m in photosynthesis modelling., (© 2024 John Wiley & Sons Ltd.)

Sleep disturbances, including rapid eye movement sleep behavior disorder (RBD), excessive daytime sleepiness, and insomnia, are common non-motor manifestations of Parkinson's disease (PD). Little is known about the underlying mechanisms, partly due to the inability of current rodent models to adequately mimic the human PD sleep phenotype. Clinically, increasing studies have reported that variants of the glucocerebrosidase gene (GBA) increase the risk of PD. Here, we developed a mouse model characterized by sleep-wakefulness by injecting α-synuclein preformed fibronectin (PFF) into the sublaterodorsal tegmental nucleus (SLD) of GBA L444P mutant mice and investigated the role of the GBA L444P variant in the transition from rapid eye movement sleep behavior disorder to PD. Initially, we analyzed spectral correlates of REM and NREM sleep in GBA L444P mutant mice. Importantly, EEG power spectral analysis revealed that GBA L444P mutation mice exhibited reduced delta power during non-rapid eye movement (NREM) sleep and increased theta power (8.2-10 Hz) in active rapid eye movement (REM) sleep phases. Our study revealed that GBA L444P-mutant mice, after receiving PFF injections, exhibited increased sleep fragmentation, significant motor and cognitive dysfunctions, and loss of dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra. Furthermore, the over-expression of GBA-AAV partially improved these sleep disturbances and motor and cognitive impairments. In conclusion, we present the initial evidence that the GBA L444P mutant mouse serves as an essential tool in understanding the complex sleep disturbances associated with PD. Redirected walking (RDW) enables users to walk naturally within a virtual environment that is larger than the physical environment. Recently, several artificial potential field (APF) and alignment-based redirected controllers have been developed and have been demonstrated to significantly outperform conventional controllers. APF Steer-to-Gradient (APF-S2G) and APF Redirected Walking (APF-RDW) utilize the negative gradient and the total force vector, respectively, which are localized to the user's position. These vectors usually point towards the opposite wall when the user is in corridors, resulting in frequent resets within those regions. This paper introduces the APF Steer-to-Target (APF-S2T), a redirected controller that first finds the target sample point with the lowest score in the user's walkable area in both physical and virtual environments. The score of a sample point is determined by the APF value at the point and the distance from the user's position. The direction from the user's position to the target point is then used as the steering direction for setting RDW gains. We conducted a simulation-based evaluation to compare APF-S2T, APF-S2G, APF-RDW, Visibility Polygon-based alignment (Vis.-Poly.) and Alignment-Optimized controllers in terms of the number of resets and the average distance between resets. The results indicated that APF-S2T significantly outperformed the state-of-the-art controllers.

Accurate spectroscopic data of carbon dioxide are widely used in many important applications, such as carbon monitoring missions. Here, we present comb-locked cavity ring-down saturation spectroscopy of the second most abundant isotopologue of CO 2 , 13 C 16 O 2 . We determined the positions of 88 lines in three vibrational bands in the 1.6 μm region, 30011e/30012e/30013e-00001e, with an accuracy of a few kHz. Based on the analysis of combination differences, we obtained for the first time the ground-state rotational energies with kHz accuracy. We also provide a set of hybrid line positions for 150 13 C 16 O 2 transitions. The rotational energies ( J < 50) in the 30013e vibrational state can be fitted by a set of rotational and centrifugal constants with deviations within a few kHz, indicating that the 30013e state is free of perturbations. These precise isotopic line positions will be utilized to improve the Hamiltonian model and quantitative remote sensing of carbon dioxide. Moreover, they will help to track changes in the carbon source and sink through isotopic analysis.

Fibro-adipose vascular anomaly (FAVA) is a rare and complex vascular malformation associated with persistent pain, limb contracture, and even restriction of activity. However, the pathophysiology of FAVA remains unclear. Although FAVA is a benign vascular malformation, it is highly misdiagnosed and often thus undergoing repeated surgical resection and interventional sclerotherapy, resulting in worsening of symptoms and irreversible dysfunction. Therefore, aggressive diagnosis and treatment are essential. There are several different treatment options for FAVA, including surgical resection, sclerotherapy, cryoablation, drug therapy, and physical therapy. Our ability to predict temperature responses of leaf respiration in light and darkness (R L and R Dk ) is essential to models of global carbon dynamics. While many models rely on constant thermal sensitivity (characterized by Q 10 ), uncertainty remains as to whether Q 10 of R L and R Dk are actually similar. We measured short-term temperature responses of R L and R Dk in immature and mature leaves of two evergreen tree species, Castanopsis carlesii and Ormosia henry in an open field. R L was estimated by the Kok method, the Yin method and a newly developed Kok-iterC c method. When estimated by the Yin and Kok-iterC c methods, R L and R Dk had similar Q 10 (c. 2.5). The Kok method overestimated both Q 10 and the light inhibition of respiration. R L /R Dk was not affected by leaf temperature. Acclimation of respiration in summer was associated with a decline in basal respiration but not in Q 10 in both species, which was related to changes in leaf nitrogen content between seasons. Q 10 of R L and R Dk in mature leaves were 40% higher than in immature leaves. In the photovoltaic community, short circuit current (I sc ) of a current mismatched multijunction photovoltaic (MJPV) cell was usually thought to be limited by the lowest subcell photocurrent (I min ). However, under certain conditions for multijunction solar cells, I sc ≠I min was observed by researchers, while this effect has not been studied in multijunction laser power converters (MJLPCs). In this work, we provide an in-depth analysis of the formation mechanisms for the I sc of the MJPV cell by measuring I-V curves of the GaAs and InGaAs LPCs with different number of subcells and simulating the I-V curves with the reverse breakdown of each subcell considered. It is found that I sc of an N-junction PV cell can be theoretically equal to any current value within a range from a current lower than I min to the maximum subcell photocurrent, which is up to the number of subcell current steps in the forward biased I-V curve. An MJPV cell with a constant I min will demonstrate a higher I sc if it has more subcells, smaller subcell reverse breakdown voltage and smaller series resistance. As a result, I sc tends to be limited by the photocurrent of a subcell closer to the middle cell and is less sensitive to the optical wavelength than I min . This should be another possible reason why the measured EQE of a multijunction LPC exhibits a wider spectrum width than the calculated I min -based EQE, whereas this was usually attributed to the luminescent coupling effect merely.

Evaluating leaf day respiration rate (RL), which is believed to differ from that in the dark (RDk), is essential for predicting global carbon cycles under climate change. Several studies have suggested that atmospheric CO2 impacts RL. However, the magnitude of such an impact and associated mechanisms remain uncertain. To explore the CO2 effect on RL, wheat (Triticum aestivum) and sunflower (Helianthus annuus) plants were grown under ambient (410 ppm) and elevated (820 ppm) CO2 mole fraction ([CO2]). RL was estimated from combined gas exchange and chlorophyll fluorescence measurements using the Kok method, the Kok-Phi method, and a revised Kok method (Kok-Cc method). We found that elevated growth [CO2] led to an 8.4% reduction in RL and a 16.2% reduction in RDk in both species, in parallel to decreased leaf N and chlorophyll contents at elevated growth [CO2]. We also looked at short-term CO2 effects during gas exchange experiments. Increased RL or RL/RDk at elevated measurement [CO2] were found using the Kok and Kok-Phi methods, but not with the Kok-Cc method. This discrepancy was attributed to the unaccounted changes in Cc in the former methods. We found that the Kok and Kok-Phi methods underestimate RL and overestimate the inhibition of respiration under low irradiance conditions of the Kok curve, and the inhibition of RL was only 6%, representing 26% of the apparent Kok effect. We found no significant long-term CO2 effect on RL/RDk, originating from a concurrent reduction in RL and RDk at elevated growth [CO2], and likely mediated by acclimation of nitrogen metabolism., Competing Interests: Conflict of interest statement. Background: Autophagic flux is coordinated by a network of master regulatory genes, which centered on transcription factor EB (TFEB). The disorders of autophagic flux are closely associated with Alzheimer's disease (AD), and thus restoring autophagic flux to degrade pathogenic proteins has become a hot therapeutic strategy. Hederagenin (HD), a triterpene compound, isolated from a variety food such as Matoa (Pometia pinnata) Fruit, Medicago sativa, Medicago polymorpha L. Previous studies have shown that HD has the neuroprotective effect. However, the effect of HD on AD and underlying mechanisms are unclear., Purpose: To determine the effect of HD on AD and whether it promotes autophagy to reduce AD symptoms., Study Design: BV2 cells, C. elegans and APP/PS1 transgenic mice were used to explore the alleviative effect of HD on AD and the molecular mechanism in vivo and in vitro., Methods: The APP/PS1 transgenic mice at 10 months were randomized into 5 groups (n = 10 in each group) and orally administrated with either vehicle (0.5% CMCNa), WY14643 (10 mg/kg/d), low-dose of HD (25 mg/kg/d), high-dose of HD (50 mg/kg/d) or MK-886 (10 mg/kg/d) + HD (50 mg/kg/d) for consecutive 2 months. The behavioral experiments including morris water maze test, object recognition test and Y maze test were performed. The effects of HD on Aβ deposition and alleviates Aβ pathology in transgenic C. elegans were operated using paralysis assay and fluorescence staining assay. The roles of HD in promoting PPARα/TFEB-dependent autophagy were investigated using the BV2 cells via western blot analysis, real-time quantitative PCR (RT-qPCR), molecular docking, molecular dynamic (MD) simulation, electron microscope assay and immunofluorescence., Results: In this study, we found that HD upregulated mRNA and protein level of TFEB and increased the distribution of TFEB in the nucleus, and the expressions of its target genes. HD also promoted the expressions of LC3BII/LC3BI, LAMP2, etc., and promoted autophagy and the degradation of Aβ. HD reduced Aβ deposition in the head area of C. elegans and Aβ-induced paralysis. HD improved cognitive impairment and pathological changes in APP/PS1 mice by promoting autophagy and activating TFEB. And our results also showed that HD could strongly target PPARα. Recent studies have proposed three lymphatic drainage systems in the brain, that is, the glymphatic system, the intramural periarterial drainage pathway, and meningeal lymphatic vessels, whose roles in various neurological diseases have been widely explored. The glymphatic system is a fluid drainage and waste clearance pathway that utilizes perivascular space and aquaporin-4 protein located in the astrocyte endfeet to provide a space for exchange of cerebrospinal fluid and interstitial fluid. The intramural periarterial drainage pathway drives the flow of interstitial fluid through the capillary basement membrane and the arterial tunica media. Meningeal lymphatic vessels within the dura mater are involved in the removal of cerebral macromolecules and immune responses. After ischemic stroke, impairment of these systems could lead to cerebral edema, accumulation of toxic factors, and activation of neuroinflammation, while restoration of their normal functions can improve neurological outcomes. In this review, we summarize the basic concepts of these drainage systems, including drainage routes, physiological functions, regulatory mechanisms, and detection technologies. We also focus on the roles of lymphatic drainage systems in brain injury after ischemic stroke, as well as recent advances in therapeutic strategies targeting these drainage systems. In this paper, a total of 26 pestalotioid isolates associated with different medicinal plants from southwest China and Thailand were studied. Based on morphological examinations and multigene analyses of three gene loci ( ITS , tef1-α , and tub2 ), these 26 isolates represent 17 species distributed in three genera, including seven new species and eight new records. The concatenated three loci tree was used to infer the occurrence of sexual recombination within each pestalotioid genus through the pairwise homoplasy index (PHI) test implemented in SplitsTree. Further, simplifying the description of pestalotioid species is discussed, and a checklist for pestalotioid species associated with medicinal plants worldwide is provided. IMPORTANCE Pestalotioid species are an important fungal group, occurring commonly as plant pathogens, endophytes, and saprophytes. The study of pestalotioid species associated with medicinal plants is significant for agriculture, industry, and pharmaceutical industry but remains poorly studied. In this study, we report 17 pestalotioid species related to medicinal plants based on morphology and molecular analyses. Our study significantly enriches the species richness of pestalotioids and provides a basis for follow-up studies.

Four stains were isolated from two fresh twigs of Helwingia himalaica and two dead woods during investigations of micro-fungi in China and Thailand. Phylogenetic analyses of four gene regions LSU, ITS, SSU and tef1- α revealed the placement of these species in Montagnula . Based on the morphological examination and molecular data, two new species, M. aquatica and M. guiyangensis , and a known species M. donacina are described. Descriptions and illustrations of the new collections and a key to the Montagnula species are provided. Montagnula chromolaenicola , M. puerensis , M. saikhuensis , and M. thailandica are discussed and synonymized under M. donacina .

The mode-locked microcomb offers a unique and compact solution for photonics applications, ranging from the optical communications, the optical clock, optical ranging, the precision spectroscopy, novel quantum light source, to photonic artificial intelligence. However, the photonic micro-structures are suffering from the perturbations arising from environment thermal noises and also laser-induced nonlinear effects, leading to the frequency instability of the generated comb. Here, a universal mechanism for fully stabilizing the microcomb is proposed and experimentally verified. By incorporating two global tuning approaches and the autonomous thermal locking mechanism, the pump laser frequency and repetition rate of the microcomb can be controlled independently in real-time without interrupting the microcomb generation. The high stability and controllability of the microcomb frequency enables its application in wavelength measurement with a precision of about 1 kHz. Objective: The present study aims to investigate the clinical and histopathological features of peritoneal endometriosis (PEM) and deep infiltrating endometriosis (DIE)., Methods: A total of 100 patients with PEM and DIE admitted to Dalian Women and Children's Hospital/Dalian Women and Children's Medical Center between October 2018 and December 2021 were selected as the study subjects. One hundred and thirty-one PEM specimens and 37 DIE were collected, 22 cases of these patients' eutopic endometrium were used as control (15 in PEM, seven in DIE). The present study mainly analysed the pelvic distribution, the histopathological and immunohistochemical features and peritoneal invasion of PEM and DIE., Results: The main distribution of PEM and DIE was located in the posterior pelvic cavity ( p  < .001). The histopathological characteristics of different PEM forms were different: the contents of endometrioid glands, endometrioid stroma, smooth muscle, fibrous tissue and blood vessels in different lesions were statistically significant (all p  < .050). Estrogen receptor (ER) of PEM and DIE was highly expressed in endometrioid glandular epithelium and endometrioid stroma, without statistical significance ( p  = .330/.113). Progesterone receptor (PR) was also highly expressed in endometrioid glandular epithelium and endometrioid stroma without statistical significance ( p  = .757/.798). Ki-67 expression of DIE in endometrioid glandular epithelium was significantly higher than that in brown and white lesions ( p  < .001), while its expression in the endometrioid stroma was not statistically significant in red lesions ( p  = .070), but higher than that in other PEM lesions ( p  < .001). Different morphological lesions had different invasiveness rates and depths of invasion to the peritoneum. White lesions had a deeper subperitoneal invasion level than transparent and vesicular lesions., Conclusions: Although different morphological appearance of PEM is a degenerative process, some active brown lesions of PEM have invasive effects during the process and may further develop into DIE. PEM and DIE may be different developmental stages of the same disease.

Both microplastic and biofilm are contamination sources in drinking water, but their integrated impacts on water quality have been rarely studied, especially in drinking water distribution pipes with complex hydraulic conditions. This study explored the impacts of hydraulic conditions (0-2 m/s) on microplastic biofilm (MP-BM) development, shear stresses distribution, and microbial community structures. The research was conducted for two weeks using a pilot test device to simulate practical water pipes. The following were the primary conclusions: (1) According to morphology analysis, clusters (>5 μm) significantly increased in the plastisphere when the flow velocity ranged from 0.55 m/s to 0.95 m/s, and average size of clusters decreased when the flow velocity ranged from 1.14 m/s to 1.40 m/s (2) Characteristics of MP-BM impact shear stress on both plastisphere and pipe wall biofilm. Shear stresses were positively correlated with flow velocity, number of MP-BM, and size of MP-BM, while negatively correlated with diameters of pipes. (3) 31 genera changed strictly and monotonously with the fluid velocity, accounting for 15.42%. Opportunistic pathogens in MP-BM such as Sediminibacterium, Curvibacter, and Flavobacterium were more sensitive to hydraulic conditions. Objective: To detect the display rate and flow velocity of intracranial circle of Willis (anterior, middle, and posterior cerebral arteries) with transcranial contrast-enhanced transcranial color-coded sonography (CE-TCCS), using digital subtraction angiography (DSA) as the golden diagnostic standard., Patients and Methods: We collected data from 104 patients with suspected stroke treated in our hospital between December 2019 and October 2021. The detection rate of the intracranial circle of Willis, anterior cerebral artery (ACA), middle cerebral artery (MCA), and posterior cerebral artery (PCA) were analyzed based on routine TCCS and CE-TCCS data. Based on digital subtraction angiography (DSA) data, the degree of MCA stenosis was divided into mild stenosis (<50%), moderate stenosis (50-69%), severe stenosis (70-99%), and bilateral middle cerebral artery CE-TCCS examinations were performed. We evaluated MCA color blood flow on CE-TCCS, and recorded the peak systolic velocity (PSV), end-diastolic velocity (EDV), and mean flow velocity (MFV)., Results: The display rates of ACA, MCA, and PCA were significantly improved on the CE-TCCS, and the PSV, EDV and MFV of the MCA stenosis group were higher than those of the normal group. The flow velocity of each stenosis subgroup was increased compared to the normal group. The optimal cutoff values of normal and stenosis under the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve were PSV = 168.5 cm/s, EDV = 61.5 cm/s, and MFV = 110.5 cm/s. The optimal cutoff values for mild and moderate stenosis and for moderate and severe stenosis were PSV = 201.5 cm/s and 249.5 m/s, EDV = 95.2 cm/s and 141.5 cm/s, and MFV = 137.6 cm/s and 160.5 cm/s, respectively. PSV and MFV had the most significant sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy., Conclusions: Transcranial contrast-enhanced ultrasonography can improve the display rate of intracranial blood vessels and can accurately diagnose MCA stenosis.

In this study, a beta-barium borate sensing head (BBO-SH) was fabricated and evaluated for the measurements of fluidic concentration variations by using a non-invasive technique. The BBO-SH could be coupled to a fluidic container through thin interlayer water in a heterodyne interferometer based on the phase interrogation. To ensure the sensing head's stability, the package of BBO-SH uses the prism and the coverslip bounded with UV glue, which can resist environmental damage due to moisture. After each use, the sensing head could be easily cleaned. The sensitivity of the BBO-SH remained stable after repeated measurements over a period of 139 days. Finally, the achievable measurement resolutions of the concentration and refractive index are 52 ppm and 1 × 10 -6 RIU, respectively, for the sodium chloride solution. The achievable measurement resolutions of the concentration and refractive index were 55 ppm and 8.8 × 10 -7 RIU, respectively, for the hydrochloric acid solution.

Background: It is essential to implement parent-targeted interventions to increase the use of child restraint systems (CRS) and thus reduce the injuries and deaths of children due to motor vehicle collisions. To optimize future intervention designs, this meta-analysis sought to quantify the effects of parent-targeted interventions and explore potential intervention moderators., Methods: Studies met inclusion criteria if they included a parents-targeted intervention that focused on increasing CRS use for children, published from the inception of the databases to January 2022, were systematically retrieved from the PubMed, Embase, Cochrane library, Web of Science, Sinomed, Wanfang, and CNKI databases. Next, 2 researchers independently screened the retrieved articles, evaluated their quality according to the Cochrane Tool, and extracted the data. Finally, Stata12.0 was used for the meta-analysis. Heterogeneity was examined with I 2 , stratified analyses, and meta-regression., Results: Of the 1,690 articles retrieved, 9 studies, comprising 22,329 parents of children aged 0-12 years, were ultimately included in the analysis. The results of the meta-analysis showed that the CRS use rate of the intervention group was 1.62 times higher than that of the control group [95% confidence interval (CI): 1.25-2.11, Z=3.616, P<0.001], indicating the positive effect of parent-targeted interventions on promoting the use of CRS. The subgroup analysis found that interventions guided by behavioral theories increased the use of CRS (odds ratio: 1.44, 95% CI: 1.27-1.63, n=5). The difference in the use of CRS between the groups in the studies that were not guided by theories was not statistically significant, indicating that interventions guided by behavioral theories may be the source of the heterogeneity. Risk of bias was low in most studies., Conclusions: It is necessary to conduct interventions with parents to increase the use of CRS. The effects on CRS use appear to differ depending on whether the interventions are guided by behavioral theories. Background: Decompressive craniectomy (DC) and intracranial pressure (ICP) monitoring are common approaches to reduce the death rate of Traumatic brain injury (TBI) patients, but the outcomes of these patients are unfavorable, particularly those who receive bilateral DC. The authors discuss their experience using ICP and other potential methods to improve the outcomes of TBI patients who receive bilateral DC., Methods: Data from TBI patients receiving bilateral DC from Jan. 2008 to Jan. 2022 were collected via a retrospective chart review. Included patients who received unplanned contralateral DC after initial surgery were identified as unplanned secondary surgery (USS) patients. Patients' demographics and baseline medical status; pre-, intra-, and postoperative events; and follow-up visit outcome data were analyzed., Results: A total of 151 TBI patients were included. Patients who underwent USS experienced more severe outcomes as assessed using the 3-month modified Rankin Scale score (P = 0.024). In bilateral DC TBI patients, USS were associated with worsen outcomes, moreover, ICP monitoring was able to lower their death rate and was associated with a lower USS incidence. In USS patients, ICP monitoring was not associated with improved outcomes but was able to lower their mortality rate (2/19, 10.5%, vs. 10/25, 40.0%; P = 0.042)., Conclusion: The avoidance of USS may be associated with improved outcomes of TBI patients who underwent bilateral DC. Narrow optical resonances of atoms or molecules have immense significance in various precision measurements, such as testing fundamental physics and the generation of primary frequency standards. In these studies, accurate transition centers derived from fitting the measured spectra are demanded, which critically rely on the knowledge of spectral line profiles. Here, we propose a new mechanism of Fano-like resonance induced by distant discrete levels and experimentally verify it with Doppler-free spectroscopy of vibration-rotational transitions of CO&#95;{2}. The observed spectrum has an asymmetric profile and its amplitude increases quadratically with the probe laser power. Our results facilitate a broad range of topics based on narrow transitions.

It is of great significance to clarify the influence of soil temperature and moisture on soil respiration rate and its characteristics in ecologically fragile regions under the background of climate change for the accurate assessment and prediction of carbon budgets in this region. The average CO 2 concentration and soil temperature and moisture at different soil depths (10, 50, and 100 cm) were measured using a CO 2 analyzer and temperature and moisture sensors. The soil respiration rate was calculated using Fick's first diffusion coefficient method. The dynamic characteristics of soil temperature, soil moisture, and soil respiration rate in different soil depths were explored, and the response of soil respiration rate to soil temperature and moisture were further analyzed. The results showed that the diurnal variation in soil respiration rate decreased significantly with the increase in soil depth ( P <0.05), and the peak time lagged behind. Soil respiration rate in adjacent soil depths (10, 50, and 100 cm) lagged 1 h from top to bottom. The monthly variation in soil respiration rate was a multi-peak curve, in which the maximum soil respiration rates of 10, 50, and 100 cm soil depths were on July 25 th , August 6 th , and August 10 th , reaching 13.96, 2.96, and 1.47 μmol·(m 2 ·s) -1 , respectively. The effect of soil temperature on soil respiration rate decreased with the increase in soil depth. Soil temperature at 50 cm and below had no significant effect on soil respiration rate ( P >0.05). The fitting index of 10 cm soil depth was the best ( R 2 =0.96), but the fitting indexes of 50 cm and 100 cm soil depths were poor ( R 2 =0.00 and R 2 =0.01, respectively). The temperature sensitivity coefficient Q 10 decreased with the increase in soil depth. Soil moisture in different soil depths had significant effects on soil respiration rate ( P <0.05), and the quadratic fitting indicated that 50 cm ( R 2 =0.35)>10 cm ( R 2 =0.22)>100 cm ( R 2 =0.31). The combined effects of soil temperature and moisture in different soil depths could explain 96%, 6%-50%, and 22%-24% of soil respiration rate, respectively. In summary, the effects of soil temperature and moisture at different soil depths of the Caragana korshinskii plantation in the loess-hilly region on soil respiration rate differed. The soil respiration rate of the 10 cm soil depth was affected by the comprehensive effect of soil temperature and moisture; however, the relative contribution of soil temperature was higher, and soil moisture at and below a soil depth of 50 cm was the key factor. These results could help improve predictions on the impact of future climate change on the carbon cycle of terrestrial ecosystems in the region and provide a theoretical basis for greenhouse gas regulation in the future.

Background: Several human diseases are associated with aberrant expression of regulators involved in N6-methyladenosine (m6A) RNA modification. However, their role in aortic valve calcification (AVC) is largely unknown. The aim of this study was to determine the general expression pattern and potential function of m6A regulators in AVC by bioinformatics methods., Methods: We obtained AVC datasets from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO). The identification of m6A-related differentially expressed genes (DEGs) and the Consensus Clustering method was performed to type AVC individuals based DEGs. Then, we quantified the effect of typing by principal component analysis (PCA). Next, we performed the weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA) and identified the main modules as well as functional analysis. Additionally, the key genes were screened by protein-protein interaction network (PPIN) analysis and identifying important genes of important modules. We again typed AVC individuals by the same method using key genes. Finally, we evaluated the link between key genes and immune infiltration., Results: We discovered that METTL14 , ZC3H13 , FTO , FMR1 , HNRNPA2B1 , HNRNPC , LRPPRC , YTHDC1 , YTHDC2 , and YTHDF1 expression levels decreased considerably in AVC tissues. Based on 10 genes, we typed 240 AVC samples as clusters A and B. We assessed the immune cell content in 240 samples using Cell-type Identification by Estimating Relative Subsets of RNA Transcripts (CIBERSORT) and found that B cell memory, CD8 T cells, T follicular helper cells, monocytes, M0 macrophages, resting dendritic cells (DCs), and interleukin-10 (IL-10) were concentrated in the cluster A group. Additionally, based on the important WGCNA modules, we identified 7 key genes. Next, 240 samples were retyped based on 7 key genes; we found that T cells CD8, T cells CD4 memory activated, T cells follicular helper, and macrophages M1 were significantly increased in gene cluster-1. Finally, we performed functional enrichment of gene cluster-typed samples, showing potential functional differences between different types., Conclusions: Our study provides a review of the m6A regulators' expression pattern and functional importance in human AVC. Myloid beta(Aβ) is produced by cleavage of amyloid precursor protein(APP), which is a main reason for Alzheimer's disease(AD) occurrence and development. This study preliminarily investigated the mechanism of Atractylodes macrocephala(AM) against AD based on LKB1-AMPK-TFEB pathway. The effect of AM on memory ability of AD transgenic Caenorhabditis elegans CL2241 was detected, and then the APP plasmid was transiently transferred to mouse neuroblastoma(N2 a) cells in vitro. The mice were divided into the blank control group, APP group(model group), positive control group(100 μmol·L~(-1) rapamycin), and AM low-, medium-and high-dose groups(100, 200 and 300 μg·mL~(-1)). The content of Aβ&#95;(1-42) in cell medium, the protein level of APP, the fluorescence intensity of APP, the transcriptional activity of transcription factor EB(TFEB), the activity of lysosomes in autophagy, and autophagy flux were determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA), Western blot, fluorescence microscope, luciferase reporter gene assay, RLuc-LC3 wt/RLuc-LC3 G120 A, and mRFP-GFP-LC3, respectively. The protein expression of TFEB, LC3Ⅱ, LC3Ⅰ, LAMP2, Beclin1, LKB1, p-AMPK and p-ACC was detected by Western blot. Immunofluorescence and reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR) were used to detect the fluorescence intensity of TFEB and the mRNA expression of TFEB and downstream target genes, respectively. The results showed that AM reduced the chemotactic index of transgenic C. elegans CL2241, and decreased the content of Aβ in the supernatant of cell culture medium at different concentrations. In addition, AM lowered the protein level of APP and the fluorescence intensity of APP in a dose-dependent manner. Transcriptional activity of TFEB and fluorescence intensity of mRFP-GFP-LC3 plasmid were enhanced after AM treatment, and the value of RLuc-LC3 wt/RLuc-LC3 G120 A was reduced. AM promoted the protein levels of TFEB, LAMP2 and Beclin1 at different concentrations, and increased the protein expression ratio of LC3Ⅱ/LC3Ⅰ in a dose-dependent manner. Immunofluorescence results revealed that AM improved the fluorescence intensity and nuclear expression of TFEB, and RT-PCR results indicated that AM of various concentrations elevated the mRNA expression of TFEB in APP transfected N2 a cells and promoted the transcription level of LAMP2 in a dose-dependent manner, and high-concentration AM also increased the mRNA levels of LC3 and P62. The protein levels of LKB1, p-AMPK and p-ACC were elevated by AM of different concentrations. In summary, AM regulating lysophagy and degrading APP are related to the activation of LKB1-AMPK-TFEB pathway.

Background: Associating liver partition and portal vein ligation for staged hepatectomy (ALPPS) has become increasingly popular during the past few decades, and its indications have extended from patients with normal liver to post-chemotherapy patients and even patients with cirrhosis. However, few studies have assessed the publications in relation to ALPPS., Methods: Web of Science was searched to identify studies related to ALPPS published from 2012 to 2021. The analysis was performed using the bibliometric package (Version 3.1.0) in R software., Results: In total, 486 publications were found. These articles were published in 159 journals and authored by 2157 researchers from 694 organizations. The most prolific journal was Annals of Surgery (24 articles and 1170 citations). The most frequently cited article was published in Annals of Surgery (average citations, 72.7; total citations, 727). China was the most productive country for ALPPS publications but had comparatively less interaction with other countries. Both thematic evolution and co-occurrence network analysis showed low numbers of topics such as failure, resection, and safety among the publications but large numbers of highly cited papers on outcomes, prediction, mechanisms, multicenter analysis, and novel procedures such as liver venous deprivation. A total of 196 studies focused the clinical application of ALPPS, and most studies were IDEAL Stages I and II. The specific mechanism of ALPPS liver regeneration remains unclear., Conclusions: This is the first bibliometric analysis offering an overview of the development of ALPPS research publications. Our findings identified prominent studies, countries, institutions, journals, and authors to indicate the future direction of ALPPS research. The role of ALPPS in liver regeneration and the long-term results of ALPPS need further study. Atractylodes macrocephala rhizome (called Bái-zhú in China) has a long history as a functional food and herbal medicine in East Asia, especially China. Sesquiterpenoids are one of the main active compounds of Atractylodes macrocephala rhizome. This study aimed to explore the unknown sesquiterpenoids of A. macrocephala rhizome using a molecular networking strategy. Two new nitrogen-containing sesquiterpenoids, atractylenolactam A ( 1 ) and atractylenolactam B ( 2 ), and 2 new sesquiterpene lactones, 8-methoxy-atractylenolide V ( 6 ) and 15-acetoxyl atractylenolide III ( 7 ), along with 12 known analogs ( 3-5 and 8-16 ) were discovered and isolated. All the structures were assigned based on detailed spectroscopic analyses. The absolute configurations of 1 , 2 , 6 , and 7 were established by time-dependent density functional theory ECD (TDDFT-ECD) calculations. Sulforaphane (SFN) is an organic isothiocyanate and an NF-E2-related factor-2 (Nrf2) inducer that exerts prophylactic effects on depression-like behavior in mice. However, the underlying mechanisms remain poorly understood. Brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), a neurotrophin, is widely accepted for its antidepressant effects and role in stress resilience. Here, we show that SFN confers stress resilience via BDNF upregulation and changes in abnormal dendritic spine morphology in stressed mice, which is accompanied by rectifying the irregular levels of inflammatory cytokines. Mechanistic studies demonstrated that SFN activated Nrf2 to promote BDNF transcription by binding to the exon I promoter, which is associated with increased Nrf2, and decreased methyl-CpG binding protein-2 (MeCP2), a transcriptional suppressor of BDNF, in BV2 microglial cells. Furthermore, SFN inhibited the pro-inflammatory phenotype and activated the anti-inflammatory phenotype of microglia, which was associated with increased Nrf2 and decreased MeCP2 expression in microglia of stressed mice. Hence, our findings support that Nrf2 induces BDNF transcription via upregulation of Nrf2 and downregulation of MeCP2 in microglia, which is associated with changes in the morphology of damaged dendritic spines in stressed mice. Pleocatenata , a new genus, is introduced with its type species, Pleocatenatachiangraiensis , which was isolated from withered twigs of two medicinal plants, Clerodendrumquadriloculare (Blanco) Merr (Verbenaceae) and Tarennastellulata (Hook.f.) Ridl (Rubiaceae) in northern Thailand. The genus is characterized by mononematous, septate, brown or dark brown conidiophores, monotretic conidiogenous cells and catenate, obclavate, olivaceous to blackish brown conidia. Phylogenetic analysis of combined LSU, SSU, tef1 -α, rpb2 and ITS sequence data showed Pleocatenata forms a distinct phylogenetic lineage in Pleosporales, Dothideomycetes. Therefore, we treat Pleocatenata as Pleosporales genera incertae sedis based on morphology and phylogenetic analyses. The (30012) ← (00001) band of 12 C 16 O 2 in the 1.6 μm region is used for satellite observation of carbon dioxide in the Earth's atmosphere. Here, we report a Doppler-free spectroscopy study of this band with comb-locked wavelength-modulated cavity-enhanced absorption spectroscopy. Frequencies of 18 transitions with the rotational quantum numbers up to 42 were determined with sub-kHz accuracy, corresponding to a fractional uncertainty at the 10 -12 level. With this precision, we revealed an anomalous decrease of the line shift and an increase of the line broadening for the Lamb dips of CO 2 in the low-pressure regime compared to values obtained from Doppler-limited spectra at higher pressures.

This article is the 14th in the Fungal Diversity Notes series, wherein we report 98 taxa distributed in two phyla, seven classes, 26 orders and 50 families which are described and illustrated. Taxa in this study were collected from Australia, Brazil, Burkina Faso, Chile, China, Cyprus, Egypt, France, French Guiana, India, Indonesia, Italy, Laos, Mexico, Russia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Vietnam. There are 59 new taxa, 39 new hosts and new geographical distributions with one new combination. Phylogenetic analyses of combined LSU , rpb2, tub2 and ITS sequence data of representative Xylariales taxa indicated that Diabolocovidia , Didymobotryum and Vamsapriya cluster together and form a distinct clade in Xylariales . Morphological comparison also shows their distinctiveness from other families of Xylariales . Therefore, we introduce it as a novel family, Vamsapriyaceae . Based on morphological characteristics, Podosporium and Tretophragmia , which were previously classified in Ascomycota genera incertae sedis , are now included in the Vamsapriyaceae . In addition, three Vamsapriya species, V. chiangmaiensis sp. nov, V. uniseptata sp. nov, and V. indica are described and illustrated in this paper.

Introduction: Fibromyalgia is characterized by multi-focal pain and is associated with fatigue, unrefreshing sleep and psychological impairment. Pregabalin is one of the most frequently used agents in fibromyalgia treatment. However, it has failed to demonstrate benefit over placebo for reducing fatigue and psychological impairment, and may cause adverse effects (e.g. somnolence, dizziness). "Ba-Duan-Jin" (BDJ) is a common form of "Qigong" exercise for health promotion in China. Growing evidence suggests that BDJ may achieve satisfactory control of fibromyalgia-related symptoms in Chinese patients. Therefore, we wish to ascertain if BDJ could overcome the disadvantages of pregabalin., Methods: A single-blind randomized controlled trial has been designed which will recruit 104 patients with fibromyalgia (age 18-70 years) with a visual analog scale (VAS) pain score of ≥ 40 mm These patients will be randomly assigned to one of two groups: (1) BDJ group (to undertake guided BDJ exercise and take a placebo capsule) or (2) pregabalin group (to take a pregabalin capsule and receive wellness education and guided muscle-relaxation exercises). The primary endpoint will be changes in the VAS score for pain. The secondary endpoints will be changes in the score for the Revised Fibromyalgia Impact Questionnaire, Multidimensional Fatigue Inventory-20, Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index, Beck II Depression Inventory, Perceived Stress Scale and Short Form-36 Health Survey Questionnaire. Background: Virescent mutation broadly exists in plants and is an ideal experimental material to investigate regulatory mechanisms underlying chlorophyll synthesis, photosynthesis and plant growth. Up to date, the molecular mechanisms in two virescent mutations have been clarified in cottons (Gossypiuma hirsutum). A virescent mutation has been found in the cotton strain Sumian 22, and the underlying molecular mechanisms have been studied., Methods: The virescent mutant and wild type (WT) of Sumian 22 were cross-bred, and the F 1 population were self-pollinated to calculate the segregation ratio. Green and yellow leaves from F 2 populations were subjected to genome sequencing and bulked-segregant analysis was performed to screen mutations. Real-time quantitative PCR (RT-qPCR) were performed to identify genes in relations to chlorophyll synthesis. Intermediate products for chlorophyll synthesis were determined to validate the RT-qPCR results., Results: The segregation ratio of green and virescent plants in F2 population complied with 3:1. Compared with WT, a 0.34 Mb highly mutated interval was identified on the chromosome D10 in mutant, which contained 31 genes. Among them, only ABCI1 displayed significantly lower levels in mutant than in WT. Meanwhile, the contents of Mg-protoporphyrin IX, protochlorophyllide, chlorophyll a and b were all significantly lower in mutant than in WT, which were consistent with the inhibited levels of ABCI1. In addition, a mutation from A to T at the -317 bp position from the start codon of ABCI1 was observed in the genome sequence of mutant., Conclusions: Inhibited transcription of ABCI1 might be the mechanism causing virescent mutation in Sumian 22 cotton, which reduced the transportation of protoporphyrin IX to plastid, and then inhibited Mg-protoporphyrin IX, Protochlorophyllide and finally chlorophyll synthesis. These results provided novel insights into the molecular mechanisms underlying virescent mutation in cotton.

Interactions between a molecule and two or more laser fields are of great interest in various studies, but weak and highly overlapping transitions hinder precision measurements. We present the method of comb-locked cavity-assisted double resonance spectroscopy based on narrow-linewidth continuous-wave lasers, which allows for state-selective pumping and probing of molecules. By locking two near-infrared diode lasers to one cavity with a finesse at the order of 10 5 , we measured all three types of double resonances. Carbon monoxide molecules with selected speeds along the laser beam were excited to vibrationally excited states, and absorption spectra with sub-MHz linewidths were observed. Positions of double resonance transitions were determined with an accuracy of 3.7 kHz, which was verified by comparing to Lamb-dip measurements. The present work paves the way to the pump-probe study of highly excited molecules with unprecedented precision.

Perianal abscess and anal fistula are 2 common anorectal diseases in infants and young children. However, their causes, clinical diagnosis, and treatment remain controversial. Compared to adults, infants with these 2 diseases exhibit unique clinical characteristics. Blind pursuit of conservative treatment or surgery may worsen the condition, resulting in increased pain in young patients and greater economic burden and psychological harm to parents. Therefore, it is crucial to select correct and effective treatments. This review summarizes the relevant literature from the past 10 years and systematically explains the pathogenesis, clinical characteristics, and treatment measures of perianal abscess and anal fistula in infants with the goal of providing clinicians a deeper understanding of perianal abscess and anal fistula in infants and summarizing safe and effective treatment methods.

Objective: This study aims to evaluate the efficacy and safety of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) therapy of tonifying kidney and activating blood circulation (TKABC) based on the theory of "kidney deficiency and blood stasis" for the treatment of immune infertility., Methods: Six electronic databases, including the Cochrane Library, PubMed, EMBASE, the China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Wanfang Data, and VIP information database, were searched from inception to January 2021 to identify eligible studies of randomized controlled trials (RCTs). The primary outcome measurements were the total effective rate and pregnancy rate, and the secondary outcome measurements included the negative conversion rate of serum antibodies and the incidence of adverse effects. The quantitative synthesis was performed using the Review Manager 5.3 software. The chi-square statistic and I 2 statistic were employed to investigate statistical heterogeneity. The fixed-effects model was used for a low heterogeneity ( I 2  < 50%), and the random-effects model was applied if heterogeneity was moderate (50% <  I 2  < 75%). Funnel plots were used to evaluate potential reporting bias when more than ten eligible studies were included., Results: Thirteen RCTs involving 1298 patients with immune infertility of kidney deficiency and blood stasis were included. Compared with conventional group, TCM TKABC therapy showed a significant improvement on the total effective rate (RR: 1.38; 95% CI: 1.30,1.47; and I 2  = 0%), pregnancy rate (RR: 2.04; 95% CI: 1.73, 2.40; and I 2  = 30%), negative conversion rates of AsAb (RR: 1.42; 95% CI: 1.12,1.79; and I 2  = 62%), AEmAb rates (RR: 1.21; 95% CI: 1.04,1.41; and I 2  = 0%), and AhCGAb with less adverse effects (RR: 0.24; 95% CI: 1.73, 2.40; and I 2  = 55%). However, the negative conversion rate of AoAb and ACAb showed no significant statistical difference., Conclusions: Our review suggests that TCM TKABC therapy based on the theory of kidney deficiency and blood stasis appears to be an effective and safe approach for patients with immune infertility. Zearalenone (ZEN) is one of the most common mycotoxins produced by fungus in contaminated feed. ZEN has multiple toxicities, including reproductive toxicity of domestic animals, particularly pigs. However, studies on the effects of ZEN on ovary/oocytes have been primarily based on in vitro experiments, and there is still no evidence from porcine in vivo models due to multiple limitations. Moreover, no report has investigated the effect of hydrated sodium calcium aluminosilicate (HSCAS) as a supplement on pig oocyte quality. In the present study, we fed pigs a 1.0 mg/kg ZEN-contaminated diet for 10 days. The results showed that pigs fed ZEN presented reduced oocyte-cumulus cell interactions, an increase in the number of denuded oocytes in ovaries, a decrease in the number of oocytes in each ovary, and an increase in the oocyte death rate. Oocytes from ZEN-exposed pigs exhibited a delayed cell cycle and abnormal cytoskeletal dynamics during meiotic maturation, which could be due to oxidative stress-induced autophagy. Moreover, we also show that supplementing the ZEN-contaminated diet with modified HSCAS effectively protected porcine oocyte quality. Idesia polycarpa Maxim. var. vestita Diels ( I. polycarpa ) is well known as an edible oil plant which contains abundant linoleic acid and polyphenols. The objective of this study was to maximize the by-product of defatted fruit of I. polycarpa . We found that the fraction D of ethyl acetate extract (EF-D) contained more polyphenols, which contribute to its strong antioxidant activity by antioxidant assays (DPPH, ABTS, and FRAP). Meanwhile, EF-D showed a significant lipid-lowering effect on oleic acid- (OA-) induced hepatic steatosis in HepG2 cells through enhancing antioxidant activity, reducing liver damage, and regulating lipid metabolism, antioxidant, and inflammation-related gene expression. The SOD and T-AOC levels significantly increased, but the levels of MDA, AST, and ALT decreased obviously when treated with EF-D. In general, EF-D improved the antioxidant enzyme activities and decreased the hepatic injury activities. Besides, treatment with EF-D for NAFLD influenced lipid metabolism and inflammation by activating PPAR α which was associated with the increased expression of CPT1 and decreased expression of SCD, NF- κ B, and IL-1. Moreover, EF-D improved the oxidative stress system through activation of the Nrf2 antioxidant signal pathways and upregulated its target genes of HO-1, NQO1, and GSTA2. The underlying molecular mechanisms that the hypoxic microenvironment could aggravate neuronal injury are still not clear. In this study, we hypothesized that the exosomes, exosomal miRNAs, and the mTOR signaling pathway might be involved in hypoxic peritumoral neuronal injury in glioma. Multimodal radiological images, HE, and HIF-1 α staining of high-grade glioma (HGG) samples revealed that the peritumoral hypoxic area overlapped with the cytotoxic edema region and directly contacted with normal neurons. In either direct or indirect coculture system, hypoxia could promote normal mouse hippocampal neuronal cell (HT22) injury, and the growth of HT22 cells was suppressed by C6 glioma cells under hypoxic condition. For administrating hypoxia-induced glioma-derived exosomes (HIGDE) that could aggravate oxygen-glucose deprivation (OGD)/reperfusion neuronal injury, we identified that exosomes may be the communication medium between glioma cells and peritumoral neurons, and we furtherly found that exosomal miR-199a-3p mediated the OGD/reperfusion neuronal injury process by suppressing the mTOR signaling pathway. Moreover, the upregulation of miRNA-199a-3p in exosomes from glioma cells was induced by hypoxia-related HIF-1 α activation. Currently, microglia are considered as crucial factors in suppressing inflammatory reactions, but the specific molecular mechanism remains unknown. To elucidate whether peroxisome proliferator‑activated receptor‑γ (PPAR‑γ) can inhibit neuroinflammatory cytokine expression via the mTOR signal pathway, the BV‑2 cell line was incubated with lipopolysaccharide (10 mM/ml) to induce an inflammatory injury. PPAR‑γ was activated by rosiglitazone, and was inhibited by GW9662. The mTOR signal pathway was activated by phosphatidic acid (P.A.), while it was inhibited by rapamycin. Western blotting and reverse transcription‑quantitative PCR were used to evaluate the expression levels of PPAR‑γ/mTOR signal pathway related proteins and neuroinflammatory cytokines, including NF‑κB, tumor necrosis factor (TNF)‑α and interleukin (IL)‑1β. When treated with P.A., the expression levels of phosphorylated (p)mTOR and p‑ribosomal protein S6 kinase (pS6K) were significantly increased and the expression levels of TNF‑α and IL‑1β were significantly lower. However, the expression of PPAR‑γ was similar in P.A. treated cells and cells treated with rapamycin. When PPAR‑γ was activated, pmTOR and pS6K protein expression levels were significantly decreased, and the mRNA expression levels of TNF‑α and IL‑1β were significantly reduced, but this inhibition could be alleviated by administrating GW9662. Collectively, it was indicated that the mTOR signal pathway may be located downstream of PPAR‑γ. Furthermore, neuroinflammatory reactions could be inhibited via the activation of PPAR‑γ by suppressing the mTOR signal pathway in microglia.

Selective pumping and probing of highly excited states of molecules are essential in various studies but are also challenging because of high density of states, weak transition moments, and lack of precise spectroscopy data. We develop a comb-locked cavity-assisted double-resonance spectroscopy (COCA-DR) method for precision measurements using low-power continuous-wave lasers. A high-finesse cavity locked with an optical frequency comb is used to enhance both the pumping power and the probing sensitivity. As a demonstration, Doppler-free stepwise two-photon absorption spectra of CO 2 were recorded by using two milliwatt diode lasers (1.60 and 1.67 μm), and the rotation energies in a highly excited state (CO-stretching quanta = 8) were determined with an unprecedented accuracy of a few kilohertz.
