Background: The paracaval portion of the caudate lobe is located in the core of the liver. Lesions originating in the paracaval portion often cling to or even invade major hepatic vascular structures. The traditional open anterior hepatic transection approach has been adopted to treat paracaval-originating lesions. With the development of laparoscopic surgery, paracaval-originating lesions are no longer an absolute contraindication for laparoscopic liver resection. This study aimed to evaluate the safety and feasibility of laparoscopic anterior hepatic transection for resecting paracaval-originating lesions. Methods: This study included 15 patients who underwent laparoscopic anterior hepatic transection for paracaval-originating lesion resection between August 2017 and April 2020. The perioperative indicators, follow-up results, operative techniques and surgical indications were retrospectively evaluated. Results: All patients underwent laparoscopic anterior hepatic transection for paracaval-originating lesion resection. The median operation time was 305 min (220–740 min), the median intraoperative blood loss was 400 ml (250–3600 ml), and the median length of postoperative hospital stay was 9 days (5–20 days). No conversion to laparotomy or perioperative deaths occurred. Six patients had Clavien grade III–IV complications (III/IV, 5/1). Two patients developed tumor recurrence after 13 months and 8 months. Conclusion: Although technically challenging, laparoscopic anterior hepatic transection is still a safe and feasible procedure for resecting paracaval-originating lesions in select patients. Summary of main observation and conclusion: A star‐shaped compound 1 with a pyrene core and four triarylamine arms has been prepared and characterized. It exhibits intense intramolecular‐charge‐transfer (ICT) emissions with strong solvatofluorochromism. On the basis of the temperature‐dependent emission color and wavelength changes, compound 1 behaves as a fluorescent thermometer between 200 and 400 K with a high theromosensitivity. In this manuscript, carrier transport simulation methods are proposed for devices with the coexistence of quantum transport and diffusive transport by combining the nonequilibrium Green's function method with the drift-diffusion transport simulation method. Current continuity between quantum transport and drift-diffusion transport is ensured by setting quantum transport current as the connection boundary condition of drift-diffusion simulation or by introducing quantum transport-induced carrier generation rates to drift-diffusion simulation. A comprehensive study of our method and the method combining the Wentzel–Kramers–Brillouin (WKB) method with the drift-diffusion transport simulation method is performed for n-type tunnel oxide passivating contact solar cell to investigate their applicable conditions and balance the accuracy and computational cost. As the oxide barrier width, barrier height, and electron effective mass increase, or the doping concentration in the electron transport layer decreases to the extent that the blocking effect of the oxide barrier on light-generated electrons becomes significant, method I is more accurate since the transmission coefficient near the conduction band edge calculated by WKB is overestimated; otherwise, method II is more suitable due to its low computational cost without the loss of accuracy. In addition, the differences between current densities, carrier densities, and Shockley–Read–Hall recombination rates simulated under the two current continuity conditions for the solar cell with different carrier mobilities are also further explored and analyzed. The ITO/active material/Au sandwiched devices of a cobalt(ii) bis-terpyridine complex decorated with two triphenylamine motifs display appealing flash-type resistive switching with a large ON/OFF ratio (＞103) and low operating voltages (＜±3 V). A novel multi-functional interface material (TAAPyr) is first developed as a defect passivation layer and a protect layer against moisture for PSCs application. Surface treatment of perovskite films with interface materials is an effective strategy to resolve trap-mediated nonradiative recombination toward high efficiency and stability of perovskite solar cells (PSCs). However, interface materials for multi-functional treatment have been rarely investigated in PSCs. In this work, a novel pyrene-based organic material (TAAPyr) is first introduced as a defect passivation layer and a protect layer against moisture for PSCs application. With the TAAPyr interfacial modification, both perovskite surface defects and nonradiative recombination are effectively decreased as well as the carrier transport in device is also enhanced, As a consequence, the best power conversion efficiencies (PCE) up to 22.45% for TAAPyr-based device was obtained, clearly outperforming the control one (20.37%). Moreover, it was found that the π-conjugated TAAPyr can promote intermolecular face-to-face stacking on the surface perovskite film, which is favorable to making the perovskite surface more hydrophobic and consequently enhance PSCs long-term stability. The un-encapsulated PSCs can retain 92% of the initial PCE after storage for 600 h at ∼65% RH, in comparison with 64% efficiency retention of the device without TAAPyr under the same conditions. Two star-shaped multi-triphenylamine derivatives 1 and 2 were prepared, where 2 has an additional phenyl unit between a pyrene core and surrounding triphenylamine units. The oxidative electropolymerization of 1 and 2 occurred smoothly to give thin films of polymers P1 and P2. The electrochemistry and spectroelectrochemistry of P1 and P2 were examined, showing two-step absorption spectral changes in the near-infrared region. The electrochromic properties, including contrast ratio, response time, and cyclic stability of P1 and P2 were investigated and compared. Thin film of P2 displays slightly better electrochromic performance than P1, with a contrast ratio of 45% at 1475 nm being achieved. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: This retrospective 10-year case study evaluated the perioperative results and long-term efficacy of laparoscopic middle-hepatic-vein-guided hemihepatectomy (L-MHV-H) and traditional anatomical hemihepatectomy (TAH) in the treatment of hepatolithiasis (HL). Methods: From January 2010 to December 2019, 99 patients with regional HL underwent laparoscopic anatomical hemihepatectomy (LAH) at our centre, including 43 patients in the L-MHV-H group and 56 patients in the TAH group. Results: All patients in both groups were Child–Pugh grade A before operation. No significant between-group differences in general information, stone distribution, comorbidities, history of previous abdominal surgery or co-occurrence of gallstones and common bile duct stones were observed. The L-MHV-H group exhibited a higher intraoperative stone clearance rate (95.3% vs. 75.0%, p = 0.014) and a lower postoperative complication rate (10.1% vs. 48.2%, p = 0.005) compared with the TAH group. In the median follow-up time of 60 months (range 6–125 months), the L-MHV-H group had lower stone recurrence (2.3% vs. 19.6%, p = 0.013) and cholangitis recurrence (2.3% vs. 17.9%, p = 0.034) rates. No significant between-group differences in the other results were observed. Conclusions: L-MHV-H is safe and feasible for HL with certain advantages over TAH in improving the intraoperative stone clearance rate, reducing postoperative complication incidence and reducing stone and cholangitis recurrence rates. A dual-emissive tris-heteroleptic ruthenium complex is designed, synthesized and applied for the ratiometric photoluminescent detection of amyloid-β (Aβ) aggregation in both steady and transient states. The Aβ aggregation is supported by transmission electron microscopy and confocal laser scanning microscopy analysis.
