Actin mediates insulin secretion in pancreatic β-cells through remodeling. Hampered by limited resolution, previous studies have offered an ambiguous depiction as depolymerization and repolymerization. We report the in situ structure of actin remodeling in INS-1E β-cells during glucose-stimulated insulin secretion at nanoscale resolution. After remodeling, the actin filament network at the cell periphery exhibits three marked differences: 12% of actin filaments reorient quasi-orthogonally to the ventral membrane; the filament network mainly remains as cell-stabilizing bundles but partially reconfigures into a less compact arrangement; actin filaments anchored to the ventral membrane reorganize from a netlike to a blooming architecture. Furthermore, the density of actin filaments and microtubules around insulin secretory granules decreases, while actin filaments and microtubules become more densely packed. The actin filament network after remodeling potentially precedes the transport and release of insulin secretory granules. These findings advance our understanding of actin remodeling and its role in glucose-stimulated insulin secretion.

This retrospective study assessed the diagnostic accuracy of targeted biopsy (TB) and unilateral systematic biopsy in detecting clinically significant prostate cancer (csPCa) in 222 men with single magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) lesions (Prostate Imaging Reporting and Data System [PI-RADS] ≥ 3).

ObjectiveTo use the maternal morbidity WOICE Tool(Chinese version)to investigate the maternal morbidity in Shanghai, and to examine the current situation and associated factors of adverse symptoms and impaired functioning in the third trimester and postpartum period.MethodsPregnant women who made their initial visit and established a medical record at a tertiary obstetrics and gynecology hospital in Shanghai from March to August 2021 were recruited and a baseline survey was completed. The prevalence of maternal morbidity was surveyed in the third trimester and first 6 weeks postpartum.ResultsSelf-reported adverse physical symptoms were observed in 89.8% of women in the third trimester and 86.1% in first 6 weeks postpartum. The prevalence rates of anxiety and depression were 4.1% and 6.2% in the third trimester, and 6.2% and 7.5% in first 6 weeks postpartum, respectively. The proportions of women reporting impaired functioning were 80.3% in the third trimester and 64.1% in first 6 weeks postpartum, respectively. Physical symptoms were associated with parity, education, the newborn’s health status, and risk of experiencing violence. Psychological symptoms were associated with age, household responsibilities, employment status, the newborn’s health status, pre-pregnancy body mass index (BMI), and risk of experiencing violence. Functionality was associated with the type of registered residence, education level, household responsibilities, and risk of experiencing violence.ConclusionThe physical health status of pregnant and postpartum women in Shanghai is better than that in the middle-income regions abroad, with anxiety and depression at average levels compared to national statistics in China. Physical, psychological, and functional status are affected by multiple factors including personal, health, family, and work conditions. Preventive measures should be taken from various perspectives to mitigate adverse symptoms and impaired functioning, and to improve the positive experience of pregnancy and childbirth.

The marine industrial structure upgrading is the key to achieving high-quality development of the marine economy, and its ability to promote the growth of the marine economy is the focus point of the high-quality transformation of the marine industry structure. From the perspective of growth at-risk, the paper takes 11 coastal provinces（autonomous regions and municipalities） in China as samples and studies the impact of marine industrial structure upgrading on the distribution of GOP by constructing a panel quantile regression model, focusing on the changing trends of downside risks and upside potential of the marine economy. The empirical results show that, overall, the upgrading of marine industry structure has a positive contribution to the distribution of marine economic growth in the short, medium and long term, but there are differences at different quartiles, which can significantly improve the upside potential of the marine economy. Science and technology innovation can positively regulate the relationship between the two, helping the upgrading of the marine industry structure to reduce the downside risk of the marine economy in the short and medium term and increase the upside potential of the marine economy in the medium and long term, bringing into play the positive promotion effect of the upgrading of the marine industry on the marine GaR. Therefore, the relevant departments should improve the marine science and technology innovation system and accelerate the upgrading of the marine industry structure, which is of great significance to the high-quality development of the ocean.

In primary education, digital games give students the opportunity to explore and participate in digital learning environments. Several researchers have found that digital game-based learning in primary education has many benefits. However, studies have also identified certain problems related to the use digital games in learning. This paper presents the findings of a systematic review of empirical studies published between May 2009 and May 2019 focusing on students' learning outcomes and teachers' pedagogical activities in digital game-based learning in primary education. The results indicated that support, guidance, and interaction are the most frequently used pedagogical activities during gameplay sessions in primary education and that teachers' most significant concern with regard to learning outcomes is knowledge acquisition, followed by attitude and motivation, skill outcomes, and behavior change. The findings will be useful for enabling researchers and teachers to integrate effective pedagogical activities into digital game-based learning strategies. Further studies are proposed to explore teachers' competencies in relation to digital learning environments in primary education.

Encapsulating peritoneal sclerosis（EPS）is a rare and serious complication in patients with long-term peritoneal dialysis and a history of recurrent and severe peritoneal dialysis-associated peritonitis（PDAP）. Early diagnosis of EPS is difficult，clinical prognosis is poor，and the fatality rate is high. The pathogenesis of EPS is still not fully understood，and ideal prevention and treatment regimens are still lacking. Tamoxifen，a selective estrogen receptor modulator，is currently used in the treatment of breast cancer，ovarian cancer and some diseases characterized by fibrotic lesions. Studies have shown that tamoxifen can also be used to treat EPS. In this article，research progress in EPS and tamoxifen in the treatment of EPS was systematically reviewed.
