The epidemic of COVID-19 in China has caused the worst public health emergency since the formation of the PRC. At the international level, there is a general pattern of the impact of such situations on employment and income of the population, which remains relevant in different periods and national contexts. The spread of COVID-19 has provoked a higher risk of negative consequences for farmers in poor areas. Some of them have limited development opportunities and cannot cope with sudden life difficulties. Despite the successes of the PRC in the fight against absolute poverty and the implementation of the targeted approach, the coronavirus epidemic showed the bottlenecks of this policy. The reduction of poverty in rural areas through the industrial complex formation remains a difficult task. Currently, most industries in the areas freed from poverty are still supported by the government and the political leadership, and not through sustained productivity growth. In terms of project selection, due to the tight deadlines and heavy burden of poverty eradication, most of the poor households chose industries with short industrial chains and low added value of products, which led to a more serious problem of homogeneity and identity of industrial products produced in villages. In poor areas, wage of the migrant workers accounts for the bulk of rural household income. During the coronavirus epidemic, due to the multiple restrictions, it was extremely difficult for migrant workers to return to big cities where they had jobs. As a result, their families in the villages suffered. Migrant peasants are mainly employed in the unstable urban informal sector. Since the epidemic has limited mobility and the informal sector has not been able to fully resume operations and production, the wages of migrant workers have declined due to unstable employment, which has increased fluctuations in the incomes of peasant households.

Improving information security is a persistent challenge for conventional secrecy approaches such as single and double encryption. In this work, programmable encryption is reported, involving multiple stimuli to independently control different encrypted information, to boost data security. The linear‐cyclic isomerization of donor–acceptor Stenhouse adducts (DASAs) and spirocyclic‐merocyanine (SC‐MC) isomerization of spiropyrans (SPs) on paper substrate surface are optimized by integration of ester‐contained functional molecules, making them be controlled by light irradiation and heat. By controlling the sequence of three inputs (UV light, visible light, heat), the hybrid encrypted message combining DASAs and SPs exhibits distinct outputs. The encrypted message can be recorded in various forms including characters, text, and figures. Because of the multiplied number of outputs, this method offers a straightforward and powerful solution for safeguarding data in different contexts, which enhances clarity and effectiveness, ensuring resistance to tampering and counterfeiting of the encrypted information. Organisms with active camouflage ability exhibit changeable appearance with the switching of environments. However, manmade active camouflage systems heavily rely on integrating electronic devices, which encounters problems including a complex structure, poor usability, and high cost . In the current work, we report active camouflage as an intrinsic function of materials by proposing self-adaptive photochromism (SAP). The SAP materials were fabricated using donor-acceptor Stenhouse adducts (DASAs) as the negative photochromic phases and organic dyes as the fixed phases (nonphotochromic). Incident light with a specific wavelength induces linear -to- cyclic isomerization of DASAs, which generates an absorption gap at the wavelength and accordingly switches the color. The SAP materials are in the primary black state under dark and spontaneously switch to another color upon triggering by transmitted and reflected light in the background. SAP films and coatings were fabricated by incorporating polycaprolactone and are applicable to a wide variety of surfaces.

Uncovering the effects of radical injection into responsive organic molecules is a long-sought goal, and the single-molecule junctions provide a unique way to investigate molecular conductance evolution during the radical injection. We can modulate the main channel conductance by using electronic injection from off-site neutral radicals acting as gating terminals. Two families of cyclopentadienone derivatives were synthesized, featuring the inter-pyridyl main conductance channel and the inter-radical paths that are linear (FCF) or cross conjugated (PCP). Using a scanning tunneling microscope break junction technique, we find that the injection of mono- and diradicals in the PCP system unexpectedly decreases the conductance regarding the closed-shell analog, while that of FCF systems increases. Through-bond and through-space conductance mechanisms are found in the FCF and PCP series, respectively, and jointly modulate the overall charge transmission. This off-site injection concept offers a promising approach for developing molecular devices by manipulating electrical conductance in single-molecule junctions.
