This study aimed to redesign a ten-story hotel building, originally made of reinforced concrete, with a composite steel structure to reduce its weight. The ETABS SoftwareV18 was used to remodel the original structure and conduct a preliminary design of beams and columns using WF profiles. The force values were manually calculated to meet the requirements of SNI 1726:2015 and PPURG 1987 standards. The largest beam used a shear connector with a diameter of 25 mm, while the largest composite column had a dimension of 550 mm X 550 mm and a WF profile of 400.400.13.2. The results showed that the composite steel structure had a lighter weight of 37.45% compared to the original structure, and its material had smaller drift between two stories. These findings indicate that a composite steel structure can be a viable alternative to reinforced concrete in constructing high-rise buildings, providing better weight efficiency without compromising structural safety.
