Lentil is the major cultivated pulse crop of Bangladesh. Even if there are available high-yielding modern varieties of this crop but because of the higher yield gap, its demand is largely met by import. Thus, to evaluate the pest-related factors of low yield seven modern lentil varieties viz. Binamasur-5, Binamasur-8, Binamasur-9, Binamasur-10, BARI Masur-5, BARI Masur-6, and BARI Masur-8 were assessed to enquire the extent of aphid infestation, foot rot and rust disease incidence, and severity on seed yield. The experiment was laid out in a Randomized complete block design during Rabi season at BINA Sub-station, Magura. Data on insects and disease were recorded at definite SMW (standard meteorological week) and DAS (days after sowing). Outcomes divulged that maximum aphid infestation (number of aphids/plant) was noted between 7th to 9th SMW; where BARI Masur-6 had significantly lowest infestation level on 7th and 8th SMW. Summative foot rot disease incidence (%) was most in Binamasur-8 and Binamasur-9, but least in BARI Masur-6 and Binamasur-5. For rust, the highest incidence (%) was recorded with Binamasur-8 and Binamasur-5; contrary the lowest was seen with BARI Masur-6 and BARI Masur-8. Severity index (DSI) of foot and root rot was abundant by Binamasur-8 (72.89%) and Binamasur-9 (71.56%); conversely, Binamasur-10 (52.11%) and BARI Masur-8 (50%) had scarce DSI. In the case of rust, BARI Masur-5 (74.00%) showed top DSI accompanied by Binamasur-8 (58.33%). The utmost seed yield of 8.25 g/plant was produced by Binamasur-10; in contrast, the least was yielded by Binamasur-8 (5.45 g/plant). Weather factors (temperature, relative humidity, rainfall) were positively related to the number of aphids per plant. However, seed yield was negatively affected by aphid population, foot rot, and rust disease incidence. Overall, Binamasur-10 corroborated having better resilience to biotic and abiotic factors for delivering desirable economic yield

In both developed and emerging countries, like Bangladesh, uterine cancer is one of the most common cancers for women. It is also the sixth most common cancer among females in the world and the fourteenth most common cancer in total. In recent years, the high prevalence of uterine cancer in women has risen dramatically. This covers several aspects that are linked to the signs and symptoms of this disease that are to be assessed and tested. Typically, these dimensions are expressed in quantitative and qualitative forms and also exist different kinds of uncertainty. Therefore, by using suitable methods to resolve the problem of uncertainty; otherwise, the detecting procedure will become unreliable. There are several systems proposed in this paper to tackle the problem. None of them, however, is worthy of solving the problem of ambiguity. This paper explains the development of a Belief Rule Based Expert System using the RIMER method, which by taking into account signs and symptoms, is able to detect the involvement of malignant tumors and risk factors for this cancer under uncertainty. Specifically, the system will expect a huge employment in diminishing the cost of lab assessments. The structure will support patients in making judicious strides well early. Moreover, this research has been done on MATLAB environment shown that the yields produced using the made system are more reliable than from manual structure, artificial neural network (ANN) and support vector machine (SVM).

Facial feature detection and recognition are widely used in current world scenarios and technologies. Almost every smartphone is embedding facial recognition & detection in security matters like phone unlocking. Another increasing use of this type of technology is being noticed in cameras and social media like snap chat. In this paper, we developed a system/platform in which facial features containing noise, eyes, mouth, and eyebrows can be detected from an image. The developed system can also recognize a human subject from two different input images. The proposed system works in two steps-in the first step, image segmentation has been employed on more than a few images to enhance the images by using various edge detection techniques and filtering out the noise. In the second part, features are extracted from an idea through histogram of gradient (HOG). The entire facial feature detection and recognition system was developed with a histogram of oriented gradients (HOG), support vector machine (SVM), and K nearest neighbor (KNN). The proposed system gives an accuracy of 96% in the detection and recognition of facial features and human subjects. The projected strategy of procedures offers improved truth once appeared otherwise in relevance the others mixture of ways in which. The assessment has been done in the Python platform on authentic images of the Indian face database.

The word „Job‟ term as a regular activity performed in exchange for payment is considered as one of the most important activities for many families worldwide .Evaluation is necessary when more than one opportunity come to an individual personality. Then it requires the job offer evaluation. To fulfill their desired goal, it is the‟ evaluation‟ which assesses them well. This involves many factors to be measured and evaluated. These factors are expressed both in objective and subjective ways where as a hierarchical relationship exists among the factors. In addition, it is difficult to measure qualitative factors in a quantitative way, resulting incompleteness in data and hence, uncertainty. Besides it is essential to address the subject of uncertainty by using apt methodology; otherwise, the decision to choose a job will become inapt. Therefore, this paper demonstrates the application of a novel method named belief rule-based inference methodology-RIMER base decision support system(DSS), which is capable of addressing suitable job by taking account of large number of criteria, where there exist factors of both subjective and objective nature.

Application of pressure on a material changes its properties due to the modification of the electronic states of the constituent atoms. Various effects of pressure on the properties of solid material have been identified, and valency change of an element in a compound is one of the effects of pressure. This study was aimed at finding the valency change as a function of pressure of some compounds. The valency changes of cerium in cerium monochalcogenides CeX (X = O and S) and cerium monopnictides CeX (X = P and As) as functions of pressure have been calculated utilising the reported data. For calculating the valency change of Ce, the reported experimental pressure-volume relationships of CeO, CeS, CeP and CeAs have been reproduced using the Birch equation of state. The corresponding pressure-volume relationships of these compounds for stable trivalent cerium have also been calculated using the same Birch equation. The change in valency is calculated by a technique, which considers the difference between the calculated and experimental lattice parameters at each pressure value of the concerned compound. The present study was carried out to observe the correlation of some lung function parameters with the endogenous plasma progesterone level during different phases of menstrual cycle. The study was conducted on 30 healthy young female volunteers with age range of 20-25 years in the department of Physiology of BSMMU, Dhaka, during July 2005- June 2006. All the subjects were studied in 3 phases of menstrual cycle for 2 consecutive cycles. FVC, FEV 1 , FEV 1 /FVC% for assessing lung function and plasma Progesterone level during each phase of menstrual cycle were measured by a portable spirometer and by ELIZA method in auto analyzer respectively. Comparison of the values between different phases were done by paired ‘t' test considering menstrual phase data as baseline due to negligible amount of progesterone detected in this phase. Correlation of FVC , FEV 1 and FEV 1 /FVC%with Progesterone level in each 3 phases were analyzed by Pearson's correlation- coefficient test. Plasma progesterone level was much higher during luteal phase compared to those of follicular phases of both cycles (24.54ng/ml vs1.41 ng/ml; 26.56 ng/ml vs. 1.48 ng/ml). This non-interventional descriptive study, was carried out in a private centre named The Liver Centre, Dhanmondi, Dhaka, between April and September, 2010. Core needle liver biopsies of fifty five patients of chronic hepatitis C were evaluated according to Knodell's histological activity index system. The patients were categorized into four subgroups depending upon the grade and stage of disease according to Desmet's classification, and into three groups according to degree of viremia. Five patients had mild viremia, 43 moderate and 7 had severe viremia. Seven patients had minimal disease, 9 mild, 22 moderate and 17 had severe chronic hepatitis. Eight patients had no fibrosis, 20 had fibrous portal expansion, 19 bridging fibrosis, and 8 patients had cirrhosis. No significant correlation was found between serum HCV RNA levels and grade or stage of the disease, with correlation coefficients of rs = -.054 and rs = .034 respectively. Moreover, no individual component of the HAI correlated with serum HCV RNA levels. Serum HCV RNA level does not determine the degree of hepatic injury precisely and liver biopsy is necessary to accurately evaluate the extent of liver damage. The present study has been carried out to observe the correlation of endogenous serum progesterone level with PEFR during luteal and follicular phases of two consecutive menstrual cycles. This study was conducted on 30 healthy young female volunteers with age ranges of 20- 24 years in the Department of Physiology of Bangladesh Shikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), Dhaka during July, 2005 to June, 2006. Serum progesterone level and PEFR of all subjects during all three phases of menstrual cycles were measured by ELISA method and a portable Spirometer respectively. Plasma progesterone level is highest during luteal phase; which is about 24 fold higher than that at follicular phases. (24.54ng/ml vs 1.4ng/ml). PEFR was positively correlated with progesterone level, but statistically not significant and it was significantly higher during luteal phase than follicular phase. This result indicates that changes in the pulmonary function occurred during different phases of menstrual cycle and this is more marked during luteal phase. A cross-sectional study was conducted to investigate the potential factors of food-hygiene practices of mothers on the prevalence of diarrhoea among their children. Mothers who had children aged 6 months–5years were recruited in a Garments factory in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The food-hygiene practices included hand-washing, method of washing utensils, separation of utensils for raw and cooked food, and the location where foods were prepared for cooking. A face-to-face interview was conducted, and data on 206 mothers were analyzed. The risk of diarrhoea was significantly higher among children whose mothers prepared food without proper neatness and kept the food to be fed by the children throughout the following day, compared to children whose mothers prepared and preserved food hygienically. (adjusted odds ratio=2.85, 95% confidence interval 1.11-7.28). The results indicate that food-hygiene practices of mothers, such as preparing food with neatness and preserving consciously has a potential impact in preventing diarrhoea among children of garments working mothers. The present study was conducted to know the knowledge, attitude and practices of 300 married women in the reproductive age group living in different districts of Bangladesh, regarding HBV infection. Only 20% of the women were found aware of the mode of transmission of HBV. However, 50% of the women were having the misconceptions regarding mode of transmission of HBV. 4% of women, 30% of children up to 5 years and 15% of children above 5 years were fully immunized with hepatitis B vaccine. 80% of children up to 5 years and 75% of children above 5 years were fully immunized as per universal immunization programme. Hence, the results of the study clearly indicated the low immunization rate with vaccine against HBV under universal immunization programme and this further potentiated the need to grow public awareness about vaccination against Hepatitis B by focusing the beneficial effect of early immunization through public electronic media.
